Thanks PrtyPsn Annie pammy - delighted to join you!
It’s been a bit of a twisty turny road just to get to TTC, as had a 9 month pre-TTC run up (oh the irony!). Was going to start TTC after my wedding, but in Oct last year I was diagnosed with epilepsy, so had to wait till 4 month review in Feb this year before got the OK. Then told yes OK, but have to get 3 months of prescription strength folic acid under my belt before TTC as my epilepsy drugs double the risk of spina bifada etc. Then another couple of months because had to see 3 consultants about pre-conception planning because I take mega strong painkillers for a spinal injury (I broke my back when I was younger), now finally got a plan in place for medication & health management. And that’s before even starting fertility treatment to see if I can get pregnant!!
Annie the only supplements the NHS recommends are 400mg of folic acid and 10 micrograms of Vitamin D (or just making sure you get some sunlight!). That was what two of my consultants recommended.
I was also told to follow a low GL diet, but that's cos of the PCOS, just eating healthily is enough for you normal ladies
I have however gone a bit (a lot) mental with the supplementation to try and increase my chances of ovulating until I start the Clomid, although I’m sure all they do is give me the sense that I’m doing something, rather than actually having any effect! Yes, I did ovulate but I don’t really believe that chugging half of Holland and Barrett actually made the difference…
I take (deep breath): prenatal multivitamin,(prescription strength) folic acid, Omega 3 DHA, Inositol, N-Acetyl-Cysteine, Chromium, folic acid, plus Evening Primrose Oil up to ovulation. I also took Soy Isoflavones CD2-7, and Bromelain 1-5 DPO.
I have quite evidently completely lost the plot
