Omg Lulu! They sounds so delicious!! I wish I could eat cakes and things :) sounds like u have had a lovely day :)

Right ducky, I've been a carer for as long as I can remember until I got the job at the doctors surgery.
Are u thinking of care work where u drive to their houses and care for them there or in a care home?
I've done both.
If ur going to their houses u can choose when u work. Well u can say what shift u can do.
Basically there is a morning shift, usually 7am till around 11am. Then lunches from 11am till 2/3pm then evening 4pm till bed which is usually around 10/10:30 pm
Depending on the company.

Now if u ask for morning they usually just put morning and lunch together so u'd work 7am till 2pm maybe 3pm.
When I did evenings I always started at 4pm and finished at 10pm (sometimes 9:30 if the woman I had last didn't want a bath lol)
Care home is harder to choose hours and they tend to be longer and more set in stone. It's usually a day shift or a night shit (sleep over)

I loved being a carer tho :) so rewarding! U do some calls by urself and other u are paired with someone to do the moving and handling etc.
it's usually 2 weeks of training to do before u can start, (9am till 4:30pm)
A lot of elderly people like u to stay and have a cup of tea and a chat with them once uve dressed them in the morning it's lovely :)
Also be careful what company u go for! Some aren't very nice. My 1st company Mediline was dreadful and treated staff badly. My 2nd, Care UK were amazing :)
Ask if uve got any questions :)
(Sorry for the long essay!)

DS is fast asleep already!! He's been grouchy today and feels poorly still :( he's eaten alright tho, not as much as normal but he's eaten which is good!
He's in long sleeved pjs tonight as its cold!!
He's currently snoring because he's so bunged up!

LuluJakey1 · 05/09/2015 20:36

Sounds like a plan Ducky. Are there many jobs around doing that? My mum had carers and I thought they worked really hard for not nearly enough money. The best ones were so lovely with her.

We haven't seen much of SIL this week. She has started work in Newcastle. They came round one night after tea for a drink but DH had work to do so they didn't stay long. She was working today so they could not come with us. We asked them if they wanted to walk along to the junk market with us tomorrow and have lunch but they are going down to Durham. That means it's just us Grin I like that.

Anyone watching Strictly?

I was going to look at driving to their houses. I never thought about training being during the day, I have no idea what I would do with ds if that was the case :-/ my db gf just got a job doing it and said you can choose your hours. I like being with people and usually get on with people but I hear you can get some 'difficult' people Smile why did you stop doing it cupcake?

Is dh off tomorrow lulu? How many teeth does ds have now? I'm starting to get a bit worried about my ds, still no sign of any teeth at all!

LuluJakey1 · 05/09/2015 23:06

This is his third Ducky. It hasn't been too bad for him. He really chews on things and drools when he is teething. We put anbesol on his gums and that helps. I wouldn't worry. They are born with all their teeth-baby teeth ad adult teeth in their faces. They just move down into place at different times.
Someone at work has a little girl a week older than DS and she has loads of teeth (about 8 I think) has had them for about 3 months- at least that is when she started getting them.

OP posts:
zombiemeow · 06/09/2015 04:17

Hopefully they will come soon, I think it would really help with his eating.

I've given up trying to sleep now Sad

Cupcake92 · 06/09/2015 04:58

Lol yes ducky u do get some difficult ones Grin but tbh it's all part of the job and it's not too bad. I had a woman who had lewy dementia syndrome where it affects her joints and mood etc. she used to bite us and also punch us. She couldn't help it tho. She'd cry before we left and said sorry to us. We kept saying it was alright and gave her a hug and said, we'll be back in the morning to get her up, she can't get rid of us so easy! Haha :)
I loved being a carer, I've sat there telling a man what was happening on emerdale whilst he passed away. So much happens but it's been the best job I've had. :)
I stopped because of getting pregnant, I knew I wouldn't be able to wrk and be pregnant in that kind of job because I struggled when I was pg with DS. I couldn't do my job properly.
I'll deffo go back to it again tho :)
As for teeth ducky my DS got them so so so late! I was relieved to finally see one!

Lulu I watched the xfactor. Some of the singers I think are awful that they put through!

Well DS has slept tonight but I've had him in my bed as his breathing is a bit off. He's very bunged up. He's woken up about 10 mins ago and needed a drink and has gone back to sleep. He sounded dreadful when he spoke!! :( wish I could make him feel better. He is been asleep since 7:15pm tho! Which is crazy!

Cupcake92 · 06/09/2015 20:22

Eughhhhhh DS has passed his cold on to me :( I have felt dreadful all afternoon!
I feel very drowsy and even weaker than usual. I hope non of it affects the baby!

zombiemeow · 06/09/2015 20:59

Oh no cupcake! I'm sure baby will be fine. I had some awful colds when I was pg. have you had a flu jab? If you get too bad contact your midwife.

How is ds feeling?

We have had a lovely day today apart from ds only having one short nap so getting grumpy at parts we went a long walk round a nature centre place looking at all the animals, then went out for dinner, ds had his first steak, then took the dogs on a long walk Smile am now relaxing with a bottle glass of wine

LuluJakey1 · 06/09/2015 21:10

DH has been hit on the head by a stone thrown by a crow. We were in the garden. Weather has been lvely. Had been for a walk. DS ws asleep under the tree in his pram.I was sitting in a deckchair in the sun, DH sitting on bench on patio with the pation table in front of him, working. I heard something fall on the patio. DH said ' That was a little pebble, I think it came from the roof.' We looked up at the roof and there were two crows sitting on the chimneys.

I settled back down and DH went back to work and I heard him yell and another pebble hit the patio. He had a bump on his head and this sory of inch square stone was on the ground.

We looked up as one of them threw another one down!

Poor DH. Fortunately,it had hit the trellising which broke it's bounce but he's got a bump on his head and it's really sore. I don't know what they were doing! They were just watching us then they flew off.

Ds picked up a bee which was crawling round the path later on. Fortunaely I got it before he squished it and got stung. It was very sleepy. I gave it some sugar syrup and it flew off after a bit.

I suppose this counts as an eventful day in Northumberland.

Hope DS and you are feeling better Cupcake and that you grt so e slerp tonight Ducky.

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 06/09/2015 21:11

That should say 'get some sleep'. Smile

OP posts:
zombiemeow · 06/09/2015 21:38

Oh no lulu! How strange! Hope dh head wasn't too bad, must have been quite sore dropping from that height.

Lucky you got to ds in time too!

Fingers crossed we all sleep well tonight Smile

Cupcake92 · 06/09/2015 21:53

I've not been offered a flu jab ducky! I only got offered that whooping cough one :(
I'm feeling dreadful tho my throat is unbelievably sore. I keep sneezing too which is making me have bh's! Grin
Sounds like uve had a nice day! :)

Oh gosh Lulu what a mean crow! Hope ur DH's head is better! I panic if DS goes near bees or wasps lol! I'm scared of them Grin I'm glad u saved ur DS from the bee :)

LuluJakey1 · 06/09/2015 21:56

It was very strange Ducky. If it had not hit the trellis, I think he could have been really hurt. I don't think they threw it at him. It was almost like they were rolling them down the roof, like a game. They are clever birds crows. They get snails and bash them off our stone steps to break the shells so they can eat them.
I am watching Lady Chatterly's Lover. Beautiful clothes but rather dull version.

OP posts:
zombiemeow · 06/09/2015 22:19

I thought you were offered flu and whooping cough cupcake, although maybe it was just that I was pregnant over winter? I would maybe just give the Mac a call if your getting bh when sneezing though Grin

I love crows lulu, my friend adopted one. He found him injured, took him home and nursed him better. He built him a little home/perch in his garden and he stayed there and didn't leave! It was if he knew he saved him.

Omg, half way through that post I almost had a heart attack. I feel physically sick. I was drinking my wine down stairs and I heard ds warning alarm go off upstairs so I put my wine down and got ready to run. The alarm went off and I ran upstairs, put my hand where his chest is and couldn't feel movement, h was close behind so I screamed at him to put the light on, as he did a very confused ds woke up... My hand was on him bum Blush I'm so panicked I feel dizzy.

LuluJakey1 · 06/09/2015 23:17

Oh Ducky! Glad he's ok.

Your DH does love him. At first you used to say he had no idea but he does love him.

Have checked on Ds who is fast asleep with his bum in the air looking very cute.

I got into bed and DH said 'D'you fancy playing Drs and patients and you can check my lumps and bumps and scars' Obviously no long term damage! He does make me laugh. I said no and now he is on about Lady Chatterly's Lover. I have told him I'll tell him the real plot- that version changed too many things.

OP posts:
zombiemeow · 06/09/2015 23:33

Ha lulu your husband does sound like a right laugh! Is he still recovering Grin

I feel horrific. I'm lay in bed crying. I think I managed about 2 hours last night. Ds started screaming the second my head touched the pillow. I tried feeding to sleep but it didn't work. H has taken him downstairs. I feel like a failure.

Cupcake92 · 07/09/2015 02:46

Ducky bless!! Well I'm glad DS is okay tho, that's the main things. Don't beat urself down Flowers I hope ur all sleeping now :)
I wasn't offered a flu one :( I was I was if it was going to prevent this!! I literally have woke up because I feel so bad and rough I can't sleep. My sinuses are blocked big time it's making my teeth and jaw ache :( my throat is so sore I can hardly swallow and my nose is like a tap!
Btw...is the bh not normal when sneezing then?? Confused haha Confused

Lulu I've never heard of Lady Chatterly's Lover.
Ur DH is funny Grin sounds like he's always up for a laugh and fun Grin

Oh god I feel like poo!!! Sad

Cupcake92 · 07/09/2015 06:41

What a morning already!
DS has been up since 5 and has lost his runny nose but the cold has left him with an Awful tickly cough which in result has made him sick twice! :(
I'm running out of pjs lol
I smell like sick and still feeling very ill myself. It's the 1st day back to school for everyone down here, which means everyone back to work! So I can't ask my mom to come and help Grin typical!

LuluJakey1 · 07/09/2015 07:08

You two have had a horrible night! Hope today is better.

If most women said their DH wanted to talk about Lady Chatterly's Lover with them in bed, it would sound like it might be about sex. With DH it turned into a discussion about DH Lawrence and his writing about the treatment of the working classes and DH ended up on the iPAD reading about his lefestory and telling me.

He has gone to work.

OP posts:
zombiemeow · 07/09/2015 08:12

Tbh cupcake I have no idea if it's normal or not, all my colds were early on I think. It probably is normal because of the muscles you use when sneezing. You and your poor ds Sad hope your both feeling better very soon.

I think me and ds are both getting colds too. He woke up a few times in the night. I think I might ask h to book a day off work soon and get him to have ds for the night and day so I can catch up on some sleep.

Do you have any plans for today lulu?

Bearsinmotion · 07/09/2015 14:07

DS has been poorly too - it hasn't affected him much other than the copious amount of snot he is producing!

Have started weaning too, but he has decided spoons are for chewing not food! He gets very cross if I try and feed him but happily munches bread, cucumber and mango sticks if he can hold them himself!

He is still waking for a feed ~2 hourly - hope he grows out of that by the time I am back at work!

zombiemeow · 07/09/2015 18:10

Bears that seems to have gone so quick! Is he 'good' at eating iykwim? Hope he feels better soon, orrible isn't it. Are you ebf?

Ds has hardly ate today. Fingers tightly crossed he has a good night tonight am hoping for a miracle

Cupcake92 · 07/09/2015 20:23

It's been such a hard day :(
DS has been a nightmare! He's feeling better just left with a cough but he's been so naughty today n not listened to me at all and also ended up peeing all down the front of tv cabinet ! I've broke down in tears twice :( he's pulled my hair and he's slapped me n isn't bothered when I tell him off.
Dunno if it's the illness or the pregnancy hormones but I feel like a crap mom n that he doesn't love me as much anymore :(

It's deffo one of those days lol

Bears that's must be exhausting still feeding every 2 hours at night. How long left till u start work Bears?

Ducky I hope DS sleeps tonight for u!

Lulu hope uve had a good day :)

zombiemeow · 07/09/2015 20:44

Cupcake, you are a brilliant mom. I definitely know how you feel, I feel crap atm. Your hormones definitely won't be helping. Is there any chance of ds going to stbxh of dm a night to give you a break? If only I lived closer I would help you out Smile really hope you get some decent sleep tonight.

Ds has woke up twice so far Sad it can't be good for him getting such broken sleep.

I must say, I was shocked by h last night, straight away when I got upset he told me to go to bed and he will sort it, then he sent me a message earlier telling me that he will sort ds more and it upset him seeing me getting upset over it,
