Is it true that a positive ovulation test will show a positive result if you're pregnant?

OPK's pick up LH not HCG, so it's unlikely to be a precursor of a BFP. As suggested get something like a first response if you want to test, or wait til after AF is due, then test for a decent positive and less line squinting :)

Yep. I got a positive ovulation test the day before AF was due done a HPT that evening and was positive too

I have been using ovulation tests for just over a week with no lines. Today I took a test and the line was quite dark but not as dark as the control line. What does this mean? Thanks

I'm joining this too! We're trying to conceive, last period was on 25/08 so should have finished ovulating over a week ago, still 8 days till I'm due on.. done a few pt's (I'm impatient) and they're all negative but I REALLY feel pregnant. I know that sounds weird but with my last two I just knew and I feel the same now, lots of pains and feelings in my lower ab and my skins gone greasy which happened both times too.
Did an ovulation test today and it was so strong - darker than the control line.

I'm confused! Hoping it's an early sign of pregnancy and maybe its just too early for a pt to pick it up yet!

@HarperJess what was your outcome? I've been getting positive opks again since 5 dpo, which is very strange. I'm now 7 dpo. I've definitely O'd as I temp as well

Hi, me and my husband are Ttc we are undergoing fertility treatment, my period is now a week late and I've been shattered all the time, today I decided to do an ovulation test (don't know why) and it the test line came up really dark really quick does this indicate pregnancy in anyway? Thanks

OPKs read positive just before your period too.

I had a week of positive HPTs with my previous DC and decided to test this out, had a very positive OPK (blazing dark test line).

Trying again, 11dpo and suddenly this (light OPK from yesterday, dark OPK today!) don’t want to waste a HPT but not sure what to think.

Decided to test as well. Got a medium response opk (4 days until AF due) so used a frer and 99% sure bfn. Part of me thinks I can see the faintest of faint lines but defo not a bfp. Will test opk tomorrow again as that doesn't count as a pg test :p

Ok line eyes please... bottom is from 2 years ago when I defo was preggers. Can anyone else see the faintest of faint traces in the top one?

Hard to say! Think I can see the slightest line only on the upper half, if you play with contrast!

I would say no and that I will wait a few days, but realistically I probably will as I had ruled myself out this month! Now I don't know what to think! Stupid opk!

I know what you mean! Maybe use an OPK again first? Or an IC?

Think I’ll test in the morning! Never had a strong OPK at this stage in my cycle!

I’ve just taken a ovulation test (my fertile wi Dow was last week according to flow app) but I’ve had EXCM so thought I’d check... have take two they both have come back +ive (were -ive all last week)
Could this be a false positive? My periods are quite irregular so I never actually know my dates for sure

Hi, sorry to jump in on your post. I don't know what's going on, Oct 21st I started spotting and it lasted 18 days (my periods are always regular, heavy and last a full 7 days), then Sept, my period never came on my due date but 6 days late and only lasted 4 days with 1 of those days that was spotting. I took 2 OPK yesterday, thinking that it was a pregnancy test and both came back positive, I realized this morning that they are ovulation tests. I've taken many pregnancy tests since the spotting and have many signs that im pregnant but they come back negative. Any ideas to what's going on with me?

I took 2 today and they are both positive and I got a faint line on my pregnancy test

I’m so nauseous today to so I took the Ovulation and pregnancy test the ovulation came back positive pregnancy came back with a faint line and ovulation test be more right than the pregnancy test

Hi there, is anyone still on this thread? My and my partner are TTC and I bought the digital Clearblue indicator, that tells you your two most fertile days. I use the Flo app to track my periods and suspected ovulation. Monday 4th was the start of my fertile week, but doing the Clearblue always came up negative! We have had sex 3 times this week, and on a Friday I started to get sore breasts and feeling dizzy with cramps. I OPK tested today to see if sore breasts etc were signs of ovulation but it was negative, AGAIN!

Afaik it depends on the opk. Some will react to HCG, some won't. Mine didn't. So don't torment yourself and just use a normal pregnancy test, is my best advice.

Scarlett, either you missed the surge (unlikely if you tested properly and every day) or you haven't ovulated yet. I'd keep testing. Ovulation isn't necessarily at the same time every cycle. I often had up to a week variation.

Thanks for your reply! Tbh, I got a bit down at the fact the smiley face wouldn’t show so I stopped testing for a couple of days :( only have 10 test strips so didn’t want to waste. We have tried again today due to these symptoms, however the last OPK showed nothing! Will try testing later on in the week incase it’s later in the cycle :)
