Is it true that a positive ovulation test will show a positive result if you're pregnant?

I can update I finally managed to get my hands on a pregnancy test and got a BFP so for me the positive opk was an indicator I am about 15 dpo.

Yes- this happened to me. I tested positive on an ovulation test but knew it was early for me to be ovulating so took a pregnancy test and ta da!! Pregnant. I'm now 24 weeks

That's great Crumble, I'd love to have a positive HPT test, I really would. I vividly dreamt last night that I tested this morning and the test turned out two pink lines - POAS for real and nada. Boooo. I really,really thought I'd be positive.

Yes, I bought very cheap opk from amazon a few years back, when they were delivered though I'd try one just to see even though I knew I wasn't ovulating (or shouldn't have been) it was positive and I was pregnant. What a waste of all those opk, which are still in my bathroom cabinet nearly 4 years later!

I'm 16 days late just now, so many bfns forcing myself to wait till 21 days.

Do you mean that you were 21 days late for your period before a,test came up positive?
I don't know about the time frame Yellow. There's a time limit though. Discard after 30 minutes I think.

My first BFP came as a result of POA OPK stick!!!

Yes 21 days late before bfp, tested every day like a mad woman.
Weird thing was I was pregnant before but it ended in a MMC with that one I got a bfp 3 days before my period was due.
Then with ds 3 weeks late before the hunt of a second line showed up. So I don't know what to think now.

My cycles are normally 31 days, I'm 26 days late today so if I'm not pregnant hopefully af will show up next weekend?! I feel so nauseous though, it's probably all in my head.
Everything I've read online says if you get +OPKs you should get a +HPT as ov tests are not as sensitive so I don't really know what to think. Is anyone POASing this morning? I don't know if I will bother when I'm getting my bloods back tomorrow.

Yes. LH which is tested for in ov kits is biochemically v similar to b hcg which is tested for in preg kits. B hcg has 'an extra bit' on top of the basic LH structure so only works this way round

frank I didn't get my BFP on the OPK until the day after my period was due, despite having tested once a day, sometimes twice every day, for the preceding week

It was only when I got my OPK BFP that I went out and bought a HPT

I'm beginning to believe I'm out this month. Negative in both OPK's and the HPT's. Symptoms of AF like sore breasts and irritableness are with me (usual) and I'm due on today. It's a no show as of yet but I reckon my cycle is slightly out. I'm expecting to come on tomorrow or the next. Oh well. Nothing to do but wait.

I know this is a really old thread but no, I had a faint line on an opk last month and took a pregnancy test, BFN followed a few days later by my AF, so the answer is no, I can't pick up the pregnancy hormone

Hi need some friendly advise..
31st Aug had my implant out during September I had my AF 3 times in one month!! Awful I know expecially when TTC. I use the Ovia app and during beginning of this month it said i was in my fertile window, so done the deed ;) about 6days after started experiencing flutters in stomach not feeling myself tired, moody ya know symptoms that suggested a pregnancy. So like anyone would get abit excited by this anyways today I thought I would do a pregnancy test this morning bfn for pregnancy and also done a ovulation test to which showed a line in the test line slightly faint.. as the day went on I had really bad stomach cramps and now have brown spotting when wipe!! Now getting very frustrated. Has anyone experienced the same and what does this mean?? Thanks in advance xx

This is a very old thread. You’ll be best to start a new one.

But honestly an OPK will show 2 lines at Almost anytime in your cycle. It’s only positive if the line is as dark as the control line.

Also, please don’t track from an app. Those fertile windows are very generic.

Even if you did ovulate perfectly it’s very unlikely that implantation happened and you experienced flutters within 6 days when usually symptoms like this take weeks and weeks to even manifest.

Coming off birth control can lead to all kinds of mental tricks and we often think we’re pregnant when we aren’t in those first few cycles.

My advice would be to read up on how ovulation works, implantation and then try and have sex every other day of your cycle for maximum chances.

Thanks as I'm new to all this not really sure how it works to be honest. I have started a new thread now. My friend recommended Ovia and concieved her girl on it. I hate having false hope. It's very difficult as I can imagine it's the same for all of the other mums/first timers.. x

Ok so I’m joining in lol I have had a faint line on the OPK for like 2 weeks I stopped my depo injection in December I should of gone for it but decided not to do for the last couple of weeks I have felt pregnant..feeling sick ...boobs hurt and I have been getting really bad craps and sharp pains that come and go where my overies are had blood tests and done hpt but negative had a few faint lines but been told they could be condensation lines or something also sometimes pain is just on 1 side anyone else stopped the depo injection and had these problems xxx
