The Rules of Bumsnet

  1. Don't talk about Bumsnet
  2. Get the sperm in the hole
  3. Don't LPB. It's frowned upon.

Evening all. So I've managed to miss a whole bus.... Usual excuses - work has been busy and then had a lovely weekend away. I've read back this bus and this is what I have remembered:

congratulations to purplekoala! Yay!

Lucie, I'm so sorry to see from the comments here thins didn't work out. Personally, I would go for option 1 because I am impatient. However I would check with the medical professionals involved if there is any risk of lowering the chances doing it again so soon, especially after reading Purdie's post...

Speaking of purdie, I gather you've been in two minds about the placement. Keep at it, chick. You're half way through so may as well make it to the end. Remember, you don't know yet what it will be the springboard to. So try to keep positive and remember the reasons you went for it in the first place. Did you get home yet??

sammy I'm glad to see of the amazing support your family is offering. Personally I would do the NHS round first but that's because I would be quite anxious about going abroad and I think I'd find it quite stressful unless I absolutely knew it was the best course of action, if that makes sense? You could always check with doctor here whether doing a private round here would affect your NHS eligibility?

sparkly I've been scanning threads looking for news of your scan on Friday. I can't find it - please tell?

I've had a double baby bomb today - ANOTHER colleague then an old neighbour who I met whilst in the doctor's waiting room waiting for a smear test - just what you need in that situation! I said to the colleague last week "I feel like everyone is bloody pregnant, just to rub it in my face" and now I've clocked she is too! Oops. Also had some bad job-related news today and the two have combined to make me feel a bit shittier than I have in a while. Luckily DP is away with work so I have the evening to whinge to you lot. Grin

Thanks frog and auto.
Hopefully everything's ok Frog.
glad you are having your test so quick sammy lovely that your family are so supportive.
hope everyone else is ok.

loopylou1984 · 05/05/2015 22:32

Ibeka - sorry for the baby bombs, and oops about the colleague! Hope tomorrow is a better day at work for you.
Yes I'm going to ask about the private while waiting for nhs thing. I don't understand why they wouldn't want people to pay while waiting... Surely it would reduce nhs cost as some people would be successful and never use their nhs go??! Xx

loopylou1984 · 05/05/2015 22:33

Thanks purple, hope you're doing ok? Xx

Nomio230 · 05/05/2015 22:37

Sammy, I was told that if you go private, you are not eligible for NHS any more. They won't treat you if you have ever been through IVF before. It might be different where you live though.

Ibeka, sorry to hear about your day. It sounds like it has been a tough one. Flowers

loopylou1984 · 05/05/2015 22:44

Yeah Nomio I know. It varies from area to area but I think we're in the 'lose the nhs go if you try privately' category here. I just don't understand the rational behind that though. Xx

ibeka · 05/05/2015 22:47

Thanks Nomio and Sammy. I don't understand that rationale either I have to say...

Purplecuddlykoala14 · 05/05/2015 22:49

Thanks ibeka
I'm good thanks sammy

Nomio230 · 05/05/2015 22:57

No, me neither. Like you said, surely they would have fewer people wanting their services if they let you go private first. Confused

Maybe you will get lucky and not ending up needing treatment at all. Smile

frogbubbles · 05/05/2015 23:16

Thanks Nom I'm at 10am so not too bad. Sure it will be ok.

Bloody hell Ibeka that sounds like a day and a half!! Fx tomorrow is a bit better for you lovely

nightandthelight · 06/05/2015 06:44

loopylou1984 · 06/05/2015 06:53

Sorry for the temp drop night. Xx

autonomousplum · 06/05/2015 07:14

nomio ooo-oooh prog. How much? What's the lp now? Am en route to gp now to talk and demand prog too against my previous decisions about it desperate times desperate measures!

wotsits1 · 06/05/2015 07:26

Sorry for the temp drop night... still over the cover line is good though!

purdiepie · 06/05/2015 08:03

Plum, if doc won't prescribe progesterone (which he won't) buy some Utrogestan fanny bullets off t'internet. One can't have too much progesterone Smile

nightandthelight · 06/05/2015 08:05

Just realised that usually I am wearing pjs when I take my temp but last night removed them as I was so hot. I guess that could cause a dip in temp? Ok am going to stop obsessing now and will just see what my temp is tomorrow. It is still above the cover line so I'm not out yet :)

Mummyofonesofar · 06/05/2015 08:15

Nomio I am glad your appointment went ok, and I hope you got lots of sympathy!

ibeka sorry about the baby bombs!
