The Rules of Bumsnet

  1. Don't talk about Bumsnet
  2. Get the sperm in the hole
  3. Don't LPB. It's frowned upon.

AF probably due tomorrow guys but first month of temping so not really sure (hence waiting till Saturday). Promise to report in as soon as I know anything :)

Woolly84 · 04/05/2015 20:39

pug I'm good thanks, don't feel bad at all lovely, you've had so much going on! I'm really glad you're feeling better and preparing to move forward Smile
When I ordered my bbt thermometer from Amazon they decided to ask "tell us more about your family, number of kids...?" Hmm

night I am secretly excited for you Wink

nomio that sounds like a lovely day, which NT place did you go to?

Nomio230 · 04/05/2015 20:46

Wimpole Estate in Cambridgeshire. We didn't go in the house, just had lunch & wandered round all the gardens.

We were pretty much the only people there without bumps or babies. Sad

Lucie, it sounds like you will be going back in June. Exciting!

Woolly84 · 04/05/2015 20:52

Sounds nice nomio I'll have to look that up in my NT Houses book! geek

Ah there always do seem to be a lot of families at those places, but hey, nice to enjoy it just you and DH as well though, I'm sure it's not too long before you've got baby in tow! Smile

lucie yay! Glad you're both agreed Smile

Beansprout30 · 04/05/2015 21:06

You are v good holding out night hope there is no temp drop tomorrow for you! Defo keep us updated Smile

Nomio230 · 04/05/2015 21:19

Here you go, Woolly. www.nationaltrust.org.uk/wimpole-estate/

There is tons to do there. We go a few times a year.

loopylou1984 · 04/05/2015 21:22

Thanks everyone, I think I'm just going to take it a step at a time for now, but am very thankful to now have the option of private.

Lucie - do you not need to see any medical professionals before you go out there then? That would surely be our best option to get a secret private round in while waiting on the nhs turn. Eek, do they all speak English? There's something terrifying about not being able to ask everything I want to due to a language barrier! Xx

Woolly84 · 04/05/2015 21:25

Thanks nomio! Looks lovely, will definitely keep it in mind esp now that we've just renewed our membership!

spinningirl10 · 04/05/2015 21:29

Nomio, that looks lovely, pleased you enjoyed your day.

Night, I shall be keeping my fx for you.

Pug, yes ds is coming, he will go to school there, their school holidays work out differently to here so we'll be back here whenever he's off. Dp will probably be back more than ds and I as he will be back and forth for work. We have said we'll give it a go for a year and see how we feel then. We're keeping our house here and renting there so we can easily come back if we want.

spinningirl10 · 04/05/2015 21:33

Lucie, I know you said further down that the cost was £1450. What other medical costs were involved if you don't mind me asking. I know you ordered Meds from them didn't you? As you mentioned the other day that due to dp's poor sperm motility we'd be likely to have the same treatment so I guess it would be a similar cost.

lucieloos · 04/05/2015 21:39

Sammy, you can either have your scans done out there (included in the price) if you are happy to go for a little longer or you can have them done in the UK via somewhere like baby bond or a fertility clinic. You just ring up yourself and book in. Your gp isn't involved, they will give you a report but they don't report back to your gp or put it on your nhs records.

They all speak brilliant English, there is no language barrier. When you first contact them you will be assigned an English speaking coordinator who will give you a questionnaire to fill in with all your test results etc. This will then be passed to a doctor to decide on a protocol for you. They then get in touch with you and you can email your doctor whenever you like with any questions or worries which is something you would never get in the UK. It really is great and your money would go a lot further. You could have 2 go's for the price of 1. We have a little community going on facebook in a secret group where we all chat and ask questions. I met up with a few people out there as its only a small little town and we have become really good friends now Smile Obviously it might not suit everyone but it's something to think about. Their success rates are higher than UK too.

Nomio230 · 04/05/2015 21:46

It sounds really good. If we had the money, I would be out there tomorrow!

Pikz · 04/05/2015 21:46

Lucie I would go 1 or 3

How much did it cost you to get out and stay there for the 6 days on top?

Trying to work out a total price!

loopylou1984 · 04/05/2015 21:51

Thank you Lucie, that's reassuring. I might ask for your help if we get to that point...if you don't mind that is? Xx

lucieloos · 04/05/2015 22:12

There are direct flights to the town (Brno) from Luton with Wizz Air or Stansted with Ryanair. They are generally in the region of £50 each return. There are other options to fly to Prague or Bratislavia if you want to go from a regional airport such as birmingham, Manchester etc. Accommodation is very reasonable. There are a variety of hotels and apartments via booking.com. Most of the places have free cancellation up to a few days before which is great if you need to change anything so a lot of us book up in advance and then amend if necessary. Prices for accommodation range from about £20+ per night depending on the type of accommodation that you want. We had 2 really nice apartments while we were out there and paid around £40 a night. I went out for 8 nights the first time but hoping to do 6 nights next time. Food is also cheap and you could have a pasta main meal for about £4 or £5 each.

Sammy I would be more than happy to help you with absolutely anything if you do decide its for you x

purdiepie · 04/05/2015 22:19

Lucie, I would go with option 1. I doubt your clinic will let you cycle on the back of the last one; certainly Gennet and Reprogenesis don't allow it - you have to wait 3 months in between cycles to let the reproductive organs recover from the onslaught of drugs. I also think your mum would be a real asset on the trip; not the same as your dh, but brilliant in her own way. Also, if it fails, you can bet she'll be so invested in this cycle she will want to see it through - financially, I mean. That may sound mercenary but you will need all the help from family you can get if this road is not going to be straight and narrow. It is good to have your family on board and I would take my mum on my next round in a heartbeat. It's a terrific way of saying thanks and bonding over the making of your baby. Don't be tempted to rush these cycles xx

JuicyMassiveForcepsVagina · 04/05/2015 22:20

I meant option 3!!

purdiepie · 04/05/2015 22:20

Sorry that was me above!

lucieloos · 04/05/2015 22:27

Thanks Purdie I will see what the doctor says. I have been reading up and studies say that it doesn't really make any difference waiting one or 3 months but I know what you mean and it is something I have thought myself. I will have had 2 afs by the june try as I have short cycles but I have said to the doctor if she feels response would be affected then I would rather wait longer as I don't want to jeopardise anything.

frogbubbles · 04/05/2015 22:38

Phew found you all after searching about six threads. I'm completely out of the loop so apologies to any sad or exciting news I have missed. I thought I had better come back so you don't think I'm a LPB, I had turned into a MWB (mega whining bitch) so MN time out was needed or I would have driven you all nuts Grin right time to read back xx

purdiepie · 04/05/2015 22:41

Sounds sensible, Lucie.

Sammy, you're going to hate me, but I think you should plough through all 3 nhs rounds before going private. I think free ivf is a privilege that shouldn't be wasted unless you're knocking on in years. I think the stats for ivf success in the UK are shite but I would use the nhs cycles as research and practice for when you pay to go abroad (if that is needed).

Clinics abroad make much use of the info gathered from nhs failed rounds and it gives them an excellent heads-up on what your probable issues are. UK clinics are so rubbish at learning from failed cycles (except Care and the Lister et al) but the European fertility specialists somehow know how to nail it even after several failed rounds over here.

How super of your parents - and Lucie's - to offer funds. That level of support is priceless and to this day I credit my dad and his generosity for making me a mum.

purdiepie · 04/05/2015 22:46

Spinderosa, please don't go Sad

I have decided to push on with the placement. It doesn't get much better than council work in terms of security and internal job seeking so I will put my gratitude hat on and remember how massively rich I am spiritually and emotionally since getting sober. Never did I think I could have this wonderful life

frogbubbles · 04/05/2015 23:00

I agree with spins and Boris Rome is beautiful, night, bean you should go! Night we went in November. Is glittery back from her hols yet?

Lucie and sammy,
I think it's lovely you have that support from your parents. Lucie the IVF clinics sound amazing and helpful.

I thinks we are going to take this month out, I have some other medical stuff going on, so want that sorting first. Still waiting for the dildocam & US results :(

Sparkly123 · 04/05/2015 23:21

Just gonna catch up a couple pages from earlier, but saw your post Purds I'm glad you are going to stick with placement. Week three already, it's going in quick right? I know you can stick it out- you will be in a better place to decide how to move forward at the end of these few weeks.. And Nancy will still be there, waiting for you Flowers

Nomio230 · 04/05/2015 23:30

Hope you are ok, Frog. Even if you are not TTC this cycle, it is nice to have you here.

Purdie, I could be wrong, but I think Sammy said she only gets one round on the NHS.

If you can make it through your placement, I think it will look really good on your CV. I am sure you will get a glowing reference from your bosses too.
