The Rules of Bumsnet

  1. Don't talk about Bumsnet
  2. Get the sperm in the hole
  3. Don't LPB. It's frowned upon.

Aww pixa I'm glad you are back, you have been missed. I agree with everything spins said. Knowledge is power.

Spins eeek!!!!!! Fx for you lovely

Just signed up to the CB trials. Exciting!! Best clear some space in the fridge for my piss pots!!

frogbubbles · 10/05/2015 10:41

Spins forgot to add, old people! Bah, I swear their acceptable conversation filter disintegrates on their 70th bday or something Wink

Pixa · 10/05/2015 11:06

Frog Some people really have no clue. Yes to the filter disintegrating, although I swear it happens earlier. Thank you for the kind words. It is good to be back.

Spins Knowledge does breed confidence and I need DHs mind setting at rest. I hate seeing him blame himself. I came off of the Facebook groups - I really didn't have the right mindset to see TTC stuff on my newsfeed. I will send you a PM if I can figure out how. Smile I have my fingers & toes crossed for you! Grin I want to see your BFP soon! Smile

eskimoflo · 10/05/2015 11:06

Spinning Eeeek! Keeping everything crossed for you!

Glittery What a terrible time you've had with your inlaws Sad It must be so frustrating for you that your DH doesn't speak out. Hope that things improve for you all in the future Flowers

Pixa I am glad for you that everything is now 'out in the open' with your DH. He sounds so lovely- taking it in hand to arrange doctor's appointments after seeing you so upset, and then encouraging you to keep talking on MN. Hope that you find some answers soon Flowers

Purdie You took the words right out of my mouth! I had a second flashing smiley today. We DTD yesterday and don't want to do it again today in case I get the peak tomorrow and then we'll have to DTD again tomorrow and the spermies might not be so good, as he won't have had time to recover. I'm going to ask DH what he thinks, but we'll probably leave today and DTD tomorrow because of that reason. It will be CD21 for me tomorrow, and I have my blood tests. I think it's unlikely that I am even ovulating and think that these are still fake LH surges, but we're playing the game, just in case. You gotta be in it to win it, as they say! Grin

Frog I signed up for the CB trial in January. On the telephone call back, the woman asked if I had 'menstrual cycles' and I panicked and said 'yes' thinking that they wouldn't let me do it if I said 'no.' Then I thought it might be ok, as I might have a period by the time the trial starts. Then they sent me an email saying that they couldn't open the file attachment for the consent form I'd sent in, and I thought I'd wait and see if my AF came before re-sending it. I'm still waiting! So haven't done the trial, but good luck with it! When I told DH, he was relieved that they hadn't got the form as he really wasn't keen on keeping pots of pee in the fridge. Grin

ibeka · 10/05/2015 11:26

Morning all. Still in bed here, reading MN and waiting for DP to return! A more-positive opk today Smile

nomio, re selenium... I started reading lots of stuff about it as it is also said to reduce the antibodies I have. However, I came across several pages that had found correlations with too much selenium and trouble with pregnancy so I panicked big time! I then researched selenium toxicity specifically and found that you would have to have very high levels (800mcg ish). But given that one Brazil can contain 50-100 and my pregnacare also has it in and also I regularly eat lots of other high selenium foods and I was having some of the symptoms (stomach pain, bendy nails) I decided to cut back to 2 a day. I guess you just have to read as much as is available and make decisions based on your own circumstances!

glitters blimey... I have to say, your're not the only person I know battling an Italian momma's control of her son!Could some of it be cultural differences in how the role of ILs is perceived in Italy? I agree with a lot of what purds said. I once wrote a letter to my ex's parents (they had pissed me off for a long time over many things but the final straw was criticising my parents) and it was never mentioned but made things considerably better.

frog sorry about the nana. How funny though!!

pixa, first welcome back, secondly good for you guys for getting the testicle issue out in the open. It'll be worth it to know exactly what is going on. I have a friend with a still undestended testicle and two DCs so I hope he isn't worrying too much, I think the chances are the test results will be reassuring.

Figroller · 10/05/2015 11:45

Good Morning

Thanks for the link ibeka I have ordered. Might be a bit late for this cycle but at least I can get started with the temping.

Oh Glittery the IL sound like a right nightmare. Am I right in thinking they are in a different country - I hope so for your sake? I agree with you though, DH needs to stand up to them and hopefully they will take notice.

Happy for you that your weekend is going well Night and good timing for the end of AF.

It's never nice getting baby bombed Pixa I did on Thursday in our team meeting at work and she is only 7 weeks pregnant!?! Glad you and dh had a good chat, it's sounds like you have got a few things out in the open and I hope your dh feels a bit better now and you get answers from your appointments.

Yay for flashing smiley Purdie I think flashy smiley means high fertility - although I may be wrong I have only used cheapo opks before.

Sounding good Spinning I have my fx for you, keep us posted.

I agree with you Frog some old people have no filter, I think they just forget to think before they speak or they think they are entitled to say whatever they want. My mum does it sometimes and it's so embarrassing and she is not even that old! Good luck with the CB trials - sounds interesting.

Eskimo I wonder if I am having fake LH surges too as my cycles are so unpredictable. Are you temping and if so has it confirmed anything for you? I am just about to start.

CD 3 here so all very boring. AF very heavy yesterday but seems to have calmed down today, think that may be due to the fact it was a couple of days late. Right best get the Dinner on, had a massive lie in this morning thanks to DH taking DD to football so feeling refreshed.

DizzyNorthernBird · 10/05/2015 12:51

Afternoooooooon.........

glittery not going to poas, I never see the point in wasting tests before af is due. If af doesn't come I'll wait until at least 16dpo which will be on Thursday. Your family situation sounds horrendous, I like purdies idea of withholding any contact with grandchildren until she sorts her act out!!

purdie I'll give DP a boot up the arse if he looses enthusiasm, but a good old guilt trip usually does the trick! I'm finding it hard myself to maintain interest too though, I think we have some clashes next month with our shifts when I ov, so I'm considering taking the month off ttc......

Temps gave been on the gradual decline the last three days, I'm really not holding out much hope at all Sad

ThePug · 10/05/2015 13:03

Hi all, hope everyone's having a good Sunday. I managed to get myself out of bed in time to take the dog to his training class for the first time in 3 weeks so that felt good. Also poas yesterday and got a clear bfn so am happy that everything is now in the past and we can definitely move on. We also booked the flights for our holiday at the end of June last night so am looking forward to that!

purdie I love it when you type in 'northern' Grin Please do it more often. What did you say to your mum after that comment?

spinning Excited for you! Have you sussed out where the nearest chemist is you can get a test from? How's it all going over there? What an exciting time for you!

pixa Glad to have you back in the fold, but can understand why you just had to get away from it last week. It must be hard for your DH worrying that there might be something wrong so you're definitely doing the right thing getting it checked out now. Fx the GP will get tests sorted and that the results come back normal.

eskimo I loved your heartfelt post - yes, we're all in this together despite our individual issues. When is your boy going to the vets for his injection?

Frog Awkward comment from the nan! What did you say?!

night So glad your parent's visit is going well. The big question we're all wondering though is what did they make of your special toilet seat?!

glittery What a horrible position you're in with the ILs. Does SiL not have a partner/family? Does DH have any other brothers or sisters? Surely your MiL should be delighted that you may be able to produce a grandchild for her and thus be welcoming you with open arms! I agree with others that writing a letter explaining your feelings might be a good idea before it gets more deep rooted and drives a bigger wedge between you.

Nomio I hope the hyper stimulation thing doesn't happen again! Sounds like lowering the progesterone, even if temporarily, might be a good idea although I have absolutely zero knowledge about this

sparkly if you're out there hoping you are doing ok

wood Nice motto. Don't think I've seen a TTC update from you in a while though, how are things going?

Boris Hoping you have safely arrived at your destination and you enjoyed the in-flight entertainment Grin Pick up an tips you can share??!

sammy Have the cramps gone yet?

Woolly Where are you?

Rice How is your dad doing? Has anyone said what's caused the illness or is it just one of those things?

fig It will be worth starting the temping as soon as the thermometer arrives, just so you have some data to compare next month to at the same stage in your cycle.

I will post my chart later if anyone needs a laugh - it is ridiculous and totally backs up this cycle being termed the 'wtf cycle'

glitteryflange · 10/05/2015 13:06

They do live here. We all went out to see extended family and to see the festival the town puts on each year.
She isn't italian herself. Just DH's dad is. (Another one who doesn't speak for himself)

Should've done rome at the end rather than the beginning.

I said to DH last night I'm going back to LC. Other than that we are great. Might chuck the leave and cleave description to him again!

Have booked a weekend away over DH's 30th so they will probably kick up a stink then!!

CD4 here. Bleeding has eased off. Wahey!

Dizzy I don't blame you there. Sending you loads of luck!

Hairstylisttoboris · 10/05/2015 13:10

dizzyn sorry about temps :(

pixa and frog sorry you've had those moments each of you.

glittery oh my word... You poor thing. I have no advice other than alcohol.

I'm now in Malaysia having been in Singapore this morning. I was supposed to meet my boss for dinner tonight but he's changed his mind and ate without me but didn't tell me. I'm starving. I had breakfast at 1 am on the plane and missed lunch driving across the boarder. I'm tired and pissed off. He got a business class flight and only let me fly economy. He's slept when I couldn't and has now eaten. Bastard. In better news the hotel is amazing with one of those brilliant roof top infitity view pools with a bar and swanky restaurant. Views out over the rain forest. This'll do....

ThePug · 10/05/2015 13:15

boris What expenses do you get paid? If you can get away with it go to the bar and order food with cocktails so it all gets put down as 'subsistence' - sounds like you deserve it! Your boss also sounds like a total dickhead

Hairstylisttoboris · 10/05/2015 13:34

thepug good idea. We are not supposed to claim alcohol but there must be ways of disguising it. We have unlimited expenses for dinner when eaten at the hotel. Bring that on.

glitteryflange · 10/05/2015 13:39

Wow Boris what an absolute prick!

Just remind yourself how delightful it will be when you hand your notice in! X

Hairstylisttoboris · 10/05/2015 13:51

I have two bosses, this one is the nicer and better of the two.

glitteryflange · 10/05/2015 14:05

I dread to think what the other one does.

when are you back?

Hairstylisttoboris · 10/05/2015 14:11

Back next weekend. I'm currently job hunting on the Internet. There aren't any vacancies right now. But I'll keep looking...

Figroller · 10/05/2015 14:18

Your boss sounds awful Boris but your location sounds amazing. Wow. I agree order cocktails it will cheer you up Smile

Woolly84 · 10/05/2015 15:23

Hi everyone, sorry not had a chance for much MN time as had family visiting this weekend, had very excited nephew and niece running around the house haha.

pixa welcome back!! We missed you Smile I really hope you get some answers soon lovely, rooting for you BFP soon Flowers

glittery what a horrible atmosphere to be in Sad the most important thing is that you and DH are happy, I hope ILs sort out their behaviour eventually Hmm
I love the new username by the way Grin

pug! Smile it's so nice to have back on board properly, and yay for everything being clear and ready for a new cycle! Where are you off to in June??

boris grrr to your boss Angry I hope the trip gets better and that we can keep you company for some of it!!

spinning! You have great patience woman! test test test

frog I hope you didn't dwell on the comment, you'll soon be telling them your BFP news!! Smile

rice you ok? Flowers

waves to purds, night, nomio, sparkly, fig, eskimo, sammy, dizzyn, ibeka

CD14 here and 4th day of flashing smiley so waiting for ovulation, first month temping and I saw a clear drop in temp today vs the last week or so, fx that eggy drops soon!!

ibeka · 10/05/2015 15:40

waves back at wooly. CD 15 here and temp has been low last couple of days with positive OPK today and yesterday - we can share a bus seat through the 2WW!

ibeka · 10/05/2015 15:43

Calling all ovulation experts.... I feel like I have OV pain but on the same side as last time? Is that possible?

nightandthelight · 10/05/2015 15:44

Definitely nab some cocktails Boris and get in the infinity pool :)

How is everyone?

Parents have just left after the most successful visit we have ever had. Feeling really happy Smile

DTD to clear the pipes. As I seem to ov early need to make sure all ready as the next 7-9 days is key! Grin

Nomio230 · 10/05/2015 15:46

Glittery, your in laws sound absolutely terrible. I had problems with DH's family the first couple of years we were together, but nowhere near as bad, and nothing was ever said to my face.

DH has always been the 'good' child. The one who did what he was told even if he didn't want to and never complained. He basically let his family tell him what to do. When I came along, I started questioning things & encouraging him to stand up for himself, which wasn't appreciated. He found it incredibly hard at first, and still hates having to do it, but has got a lot better.

These days MiL is fine, and I get on really well with her. I think it just took her time to realise she wasn't the main woman in DH's life anymore. FiL and I are always polite to each other, but I know he doesn't really think much of me, and the feeling is mutual.

It is a horrible situation, but I think if your DH doesn't start standing up to his family now, things are going to get a lot worse once you have children.

Spinning, I am getting excited for you!

Boris, no wonder you hate your job if that is the kind of behaviour you have to out up with. I agree with the cocktails suggestion. Lots and lots of them!

Pug, good news on your BFN. Not a phrase you will often hear on here!

I got a BFN again earlier, so think I have to accept it is over for this month. Since I have been ill, it is probably for the best. I have a good feeling about next month though. Smile

Nomio230 · 10/05/2015 15:47

Put up, not out up!

Woolly84 · 10/05/2015 15:48

Yes ibeka would be great to have a TWW buddy to cling onto for dear life Grin

night yay for the parental visit going well!! Smile mine were over this weekend too, was thinking how much I want to be able to tell them some BFP news!
Good work on clearing the pipes! Grin

Nomio230 · 10/05/2015 15:49

Ibeka, I am pretty sure it is random, so I would say yes, it is perfectly possible.
