'TTC after a miscarriage - new thread'

Janus · 30/10/2006 17:58

Well tried to add my bit to old thread and we have reached 1000 posts again!!
Chocolatepeanut, am so sorry for what you are going through, although you sound as if you are handling it well so far. Hope things aren't too bad for you in the coming days.
Rubles, sorry if AF does arrive, bloody bitch! My blood tests will be next week. DP sperm test threw up 'abnormal sperm' and he needs to go and discuss with the GP later this week although she did say it wasn't too much to worry about. Been meaning to start a new thread on this but haven't got around to it.
I'm looking for a yoga class to try and help me relax! Do think this whole TTC is stressing me out so much, I'm so conscious of age gaps, both our ages working against us, even worrying about if we do conceive in next couple of months as worked out it would be a July or August baby (my oldest is July born and is struggling bit with school etc). Part of me thinks it may do us all some good if I just stop ttc for a couple of months, then the other half panics about an even bigger gap, etc!!
How on earth do you all manage to relax about all this stuff??

Ok, I'm starting to feel queasy on and off.

Hope it's not just the vast numbers of nuts, nutty chocolate and work deadlines...

Oinker, I'm sure you're already on your way so either hope you have (or have had) a fantastic holiday out there in the sun, with plenty of relaxing, all ready for your op in January. Really hope you are having a fantastic time.
Firstar, so glad your scan went well and that you are, both!, keeping well.
So sorry that Rahrah and Duchesse have had such a tough time, unbearable actually, so I do hope happier times are on the way for both of you.
Congratulations to those BFP's, good to see some on this thread, I don't think there have been many for a while.
Rubles, if you are still out there, good to hear from you! If you don't mind me asking, how did your dye test go? Mine is next month, hoping it is relatively straight forward and not too painful! Hope you are keeping well and that you get some good news in 2007.
Take care ladies. Lots of love and Happy Christmas!

Mumpbump · 19/12/2006 12:00

Hiya! Just popping in to see how people are doing and if there were any more bfp...

I am going to be around until next Friday, when we are all meant to be going skiing - if there is snow!! Have decided to kick back and enjoy Christmas, but to drink in moderation in case I have fallen pg... Can't drink much nowadays anyway as it makes looking after ds too hard!!

zimbojules · 19/12/2006 18:35

Hello all - thanks for the warm welcome. I haven't been online for a few days as work has been hectic. It's inspiring to read your stories, and see how everyone is coping so well.

Can you believe that I've been working at the Dept of Health on Maternity Services for the last 2 months!!??? At times that was quite difficult...

I'm not sure what the terminology stands for AF? and BDF? well i'll be taking a pregnancy test in about 4 days time...

here's sending lots of warm wishes to all of you for the next few weeks.

zimbojules · 19/12/2006 18:38

btw I've been going to an amazing reflexologist in london who has helped me get over the ERPCs, and helped prep me for hopefully getting pregnant!

I thought it was better than the anti-depressants that the doc offered...and it has been really good!

xx

duchesse · 19/12/2006 22:25

Hi Zimbojoules,
Those acronyms are useful forum short-hands for:
AF: Aunt Flo , ie Period
BFN: Negative Pregnancy Test
BFP: Positive Pregnancy test

Not sure why those last two. I think there's an acronym list somewhere at the top of the page that you can consult. I don't like them myself, but lots of people do.

XmassyCharlotte · 19/12/2006 23:04

Where was your reflexologist zimbo? I went to see one in Chelsea last week and really loved it. But would definitely be open to suggestions for a good one who might help with fertility!

Uki · 20/12/2006 01:56

Hi all

Not much happening with me, not many symptoms so a bit nervous. I can't say it gets easier when you do get that bfp, this is my most worrying pg yet.

BFP: is big fat positive
kinda cute.

I was at the hardware today and i nearly referred to my husband as my dh. Think i am becomming a mn freak.

goodluck zimbo with your test, fingers crossed.

rahrah1 · 20/12/2006 14:01

Hi guys... I've just been to the GP's for my post natal... she said it could take up to 3 months for my AF to arrive... it has been 6 weeks so far since... Is this true? Cant wait 3 months to TTC!!!

PeterJones · 20/12/2006 14:08

Xmassy charlotte - I have a guy who comes to my house to do reflexology - I have had fertility issues and I think it really helped (sadly I have just had a miscarriage but got pregnany really quickly). I live just by albert Bridge. Can't recommend ghim more highly. Interested?

duchesse · 20/12/2006 14:18

I suppose your GP today wanted to give the longest possible dates Rahrah, so you don't get worried if it doesn't come before then. Quite a lot of women get pregnant again almost immediately, at least within a few weeks, if not breastfeeding. I can't offer any useful perspective on this, as I didn't have periods for years after my children were born, due to extended breastfeeding. You'd have to consult, for want of s better comparison, someone who'd given birth but not breastfed.

Also, it would make a big difference if your milk came in after Bertie was born, and if you have stopped lactating yet, as prolactin inhibits ovulation. If you are still lactating, and are sure you are net pregnant, try sage tea to dry up the milk. I'm so sorry you're still enduring such uncertainty.

Hi PeterJones

Thanks for replying...

Yes, I'd love his details. I went to the Reflexology Centre (I think it's called that..) just off the King's Road. It was great and I'm thinking of going back tomorrow. I actually live SE London so not sure if your guy travels beyond the realms of SW but if so, let me know!

rahrah1 · 20/12/2006 15:40

Thanks guys, for your replies.

My milk started when my waters broke, but after he was born they gave me some tablets to stop milk production. Not had a drop since... but my boobs are still massive and sore!

I'll just have to calm down and try and relax... cant make my body sort itself out any quicker,,,, just disappointed!! My head is all over the place and probably my hormones.

Also has anyone tried an acupuncture in regards to conception..

Thanks Again.. xx

duchesse · 21/12/2006 11:14

Rahrah- it could be that the lactation has not quite settled down yet, or it could be that you are pre-menstrual. You could ask your GP for a prolactin levels test, which would show whether the levels are so high that you would not be ovulating, although again it is a personal thing, how much your body reacts to the levels.

rahrah1 · 21/12/2006 11:31

Thanks duchesse - If I don't get AF over xmas period, I will go back to the doctors and suggest that test in the new year. It's mad that with all these doctors you have to suggest the tests, rather than them giving them to you.

plummymummy · 21/12/2006 15:04

Hello everyone. Wishing you all a happy xmas and new year ...... and of course bfps all around . Rahrah1 my dh spends lots of time on the computer too . Congrats festivefettle - hope all goes well. Think I have just finished my eternal miscarriage - after 3.5 weeks of bleeding it is just light spotting today. Now just need to wait for af. Actually feel mildly like I could be persuaded to bd also (well practice at least )for the first time in weeks. Starting at last to look forward to spending xmas with dh, ds and our families
