Evening all

Welcome Cityzen. Hope you have a short stay with us and find yourself quickly upduffed. Suggest you get yourself to the doc and say you have been TTC for over a year and see what you can get out of the NHS in the way of help.

Welcome also to probably. So sorry to hear about your loss.

I do my best to avoid letting people know how old I am until I have got to know them. I was chatting to someone recently about having a second DC and making comparisons with others in the same social group and was told that so and so had to get on with it as she was 40 now, unlike us in our late 30s!!

I definitely need to get on with it! Been using the IC HPTs and am not even getting feint evap lines (which some purchasers have complained of). At least it won't be a surprise when AF turns up, but I am feeling pretty down in the dumps.

How's everyone else doing? JassS?

Gumblossom · 24/03/2015 23:41

Hello. Wish I had more time for posting and personals, but just dropping in, inbetween online grocery shopping and getting ready for work.

I haven't read the age thread, but I continue to amaze myself with my personal cutoff. When I embarked on this journey, I was about 38 - had decided time was running out and I wanted another baby, but DH said no. He'd already had a vasectomy, so it would have to be reversed, and he wasn't interested. It took me three years to convince him that it was a good idea and basically I couldn't live authentically if I couldn't have a crack at it. Anyway, at the time, I thought I'd be done and dusted by 42. I was so surprised after DS was born when I was 41 and 9 months old, that I wasn't interested in stopping TTC and wanted another. At the time I thought 45 was my cut off. Then it was about 47, now I am 48 and I don't have a cut off. After hearing that a 59 year old had a baby naturally, I'm open to ttc until nature throws in the towel.

It may be sooner than later. I have no idea what's going on with my cycle. I had a positive opk, ovulation pain, but my temperatures are just not rising. It's weird. I've been using two different thermometers and both have low temps (more like pre-O temps), so it can't be the thermometer. Perhaps I geared up to ovulate but it didn't happen? I don't know and I guess I won't really know til the cycle is over. I also have had no tenderness in the boobs at all, which I used to get post-O every month. Surely the isoflavones didn't have this effect???Confused

Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it.

Love to all, must run xxx

Thanks for being so welcoming everyone. I wish you all the best with ttc.

Jass I am really sorry to hear about your loss and am thinking of you.

I think you are right Fireflies that I should go to the doctors to get checked out but I suppose I'm a bit scared of what they might say. I realise that's silly and there's no point in burying my head in the sand so I'm going to have to get over it and make an appointment! I have been good recently about taking folic acid after always meaning to and then forgetting.

One thing that does worry me a bit is that when I went for a smear test last year the nurse struggled to find the right bit of my cervix to take a test from. She got it eventually and all was OK but she said that this might cause me problems getting pregnant. Has anyone else ever heard of that? She said I ought to lie on one side after dtd which I do but no luck yet.

Hope everyone has a good day.

jassS · 25/03/2015 17:55

I am coming out at the other end, I feel. And then I feel guilty, because I am not grieving enough my lost baby. Dig out the scan photo (I have it on my phone and ipad). Look at it, feelclike vrying. Put it away. Repeat that cycle x times a day. Work full days, keep busy at home (mumsnetong, reading up on mc risk factors - positive is that all newer research shows that former mcs have less impact on future success than previously thought. And even for people with identified mc reasons, the probability to go to term are high - 71% vs 77%. Not really s big diff, is it?).

But with each day passing I feel more optimistic about the fact that I created a baby with heartbeat. Fully convinced myself that the baby had genetic problems. Then I look at the scan again - it looks normal, totally notmal, how could it have genetic problems? of course as far as I know this baby could have been a full triploid, even those look OKish at 9weeks.

As you can see, I am not spending my days crying but am just slowly going mad about it all. Need my cycle back then can restart ttc, I hope it will keep me sane?!

Keeping close to my sons, they are such comfort.

Morning all

reni I forgot to thank you for the reminder about it taking 74 days to create sperm. I have reminded DH and have found the BFNs of the ICs to be a helpful prompt to pull ones socks up. Grin He’s taking Wellman conception plus a cocktail of others which includes Royal Jelly and (supposedly) Bee Propolis. Going to do some tick sheets for us to follow. Have you looked at the Fertilty Friends ‘protocol’ by ‘Angelbump’ which I have posted a link to before? Can’t be bothered to do it at the moment, but let me know if you want it. Oh, have you come across recommendations that your DP should make sure to keep his balls cool. Grin So no hot laptop on knee for hours on end, try and avoid lengthy car commutes (not always practical, I know, but DH did switch to the train which I was amazed about). I also treated him to some special cool technology boxers!

Gum sorry, I don’t know what the answer is about your cycle, but hopefully it will resolve soon.

M00nstone have you tested yet?

Cityzen no idea about your cervix issue, sorry. Hopefully someone lurking might have some idea. Sounds like a trip to the GP would be a good move.

JassS hope you’re still feeling relatively sane. Grin I think you have the right attitude, as you do seem to conceive pretty easily. How you manage to have such a positive attitude I have no idea.

HPTs not showing even a sniff of a BFP. It helps to know, but I am feeling a bit depressed. I could do with a bit of your PMA JassS! Have signed up with Fert Friends and got a thermometer to keep by the bed.

How’s everyone else?

M00NST0NE · 26/03/2015 11:05

10000Fireflies not tested yet and the wait is killing me...!! lol ...i'm planning to test on the March 27th which right now feels like a lifetime away...still got all my symptoms, so fingers crossed...

10000Fireflies · 26/03/2015 11:16

I admire your willpower Moonstone!! Will be looking out for your update tomorrow.

M00NST0NE · 26/03/2015 11:21

10000Fireflies the willpower is definitely in play at the moment...i'm usually one who rarely feels hungry, but right now i can eat something and an hour or so later feel absolutely ravenous...!!...i'm being good tho and calming the hunger beast by nibbling on the odd prune here and there...i figure i might as well snack on something that will "help out" in other unmentionable departments... Blush

jassS · 26/03/2015 11:44

Moon, how far along you would be according to the LMP? You are taking the patience thing to all new level here - some of us can shy away from early scans, but not early testing:-)))

M00NST0NE · 26/03/2015 11:56

jassS it all depends exactly when that was as i'm unsure...in February it started on the 5th and once that was out of the way we started DTD...i showed signs of spotting on the 25th and 26th and i started feeling nauseous and a bit wobbly on my legs around the same time, plus i found myself getting car sick...however the spotting was followed by a huge bleed on the 27th which lasted for the next few days, even tho my symptoms continued...because of this we continued DTD this month just in case, but i won't know for sure when my LMP was until i take my test as the unscheduled bleed kind of threw me a bit...

M00NST0NE · 26/03/2015 12:22

that would make me 7 weeks along if i go by the MP i definitely know was a MP or 4+1 if i go by the unexpected bleed...

jassS · 26/03/2015 14:28

Hm, Moon, I think if you want to test you may need ot do it soon, as with very high hcg tests can turn back to neg, they are not meant for really high hcgs. Although mine did not go weaker again at 7-8 weeks, but of course who knows how good my levels were or not.

I did a sneaky test today to see how weaks my lines are now postmc, got an easy pos still. HCg prob still around 4-500 units, I think. But for 5 days post-op it is good, I hope. Will test again in a week and if needed, will follow up with dov. If I get an easy neg next week I think I will not bother with follow-up, the retained tissue last time certainly manifested in non-decreasing beta, so I guess here i can trust my stupid body.

M00NST0NE · 26/03/2015 14:55

jassS that's interesting to know...there's so much i still have to learn about TTC and pregnancy...i'll definitely be testing tomorrow morning first thing, but i shall follow it up anyway with a doctor appointment for confirmation one way or the other... Smile

reni1 · 26/03/2015 16:37

Fireflies, thank you. Looked up the protocol Shock, no wonder you want a tick list, I'd need a nurse to supervise us taking all of that! With a reminder alarm and recording it on ff and having a box of pregnancare in each bag and bathroom I manage to take 1 pill/day most of the time now.

How are you going about ttc, Cityzen, apart from the obvious? Opk in packs of 50/ temp every day etc or more of a let's see what happens approach?

Cityzen74 · 27/03/2015 08:45

Hi Reni1. Well I bought that clear blue ovulation tester kit and have been using that. I always thought I knew when I was ovulating and it turns out I was round about right although when I think I'm ovulating is when it says I am on high fertility and not peak fertility. However, it's good to know around about the time to dtd. I haven't really gone down the temperature route or anything as I thought that kit would be OK but what do you think?

This month me and dh are going to be away on hols round ovulation time which has worked out well! I think we just don't dtd enough so hopefully being away will help and we can feel relaxed.

Moon - good luck with your test - keeping my fingers crossed for you.

FattyFishwife · 27/03/2015 11:45

this morning...the day AF was due to pop in...after 18 long moths of trying, rattling when i walk with so many daily supplements and countless sticks peed on!

my very own BFP!

We might be over 40 but we are young at heart, taking our supplements, shagging on time and waiting for the precious BFP!Over 40's TTC, join us here...
10000Fireflies · 27/03/2015 12:23

Woohoo Fatty! Congratulations!

ICallHimGerald · 27/03/2015 12:33

fatty congratulations. That's a fantastic sight

FattyFishwife · 27/03/2015 12:36

thanks ladies, after so long trying, i was beginning to lose hope and think my 44 year old eggs were hard boiled!
so excited, but i havent told the other 5 DC's yet...just my other half.

reni1 · 27/03/2015 13:14

Fatty, congrats! (dancing man emoticon missing here)

Cityzen I used Clearblue, love them. When I started temping I realised I ovulate 48h after the static smile appears, so have been stopping dtd too early for months.

fromwesttoeast · 27/03/2015 13:17

Great news Fattyfishwife!!

cloudjumper · 27/03/2015 13:44

Congratulations fatty Flowers

ChewyGiraffe · 27/03/2015 14:26

Fatty - congratulations on your wonderful news! You say you were trying for 18 months? Hopefully you've just showed that sometimes all you need is a bit, OK a lot, of patience! And I've got to ask - do you mind saying what supplements you were on?

Reni - I'm starting to think I should make the effor to temp for exactly that reason. We're so not fans of TTC DTD in this house (seems like no fun when you feel you've got to do it) that we also tend to give up as soon as the static smiley appears Blush, which might be way too early ...

FattyFishwife · 27/03/2015 14:35

thanks everyone.

yup trying since October 2013

only started taking the supplements around last june when it appeared that I wasnt going to get pregnant as easily as all the other times. took them for about 4 months, stopped for 3 months (as i thoguth 'well this is a load of tripe and isnt working!!', then started them up again in jan, after giving up using a digital ovulation machine that was rubbish as it never spotted ANY peak at all,

i was taking
dong quai
agnus castus
evening primrose oil
selenium
calcium and magnesium
zinc
red clover
folic acid

both times i took supplements, but after seeing a thread on here, added

co enzyme q-10
l-arginine
maca root

to that other list.

jassS · 27/03/2015 17:32

Fatty, huge congratulations!
