Wow I've missed a lot in the last few days!!
Congratulations Fatty. Lovely news.
Congratulations Green. What a gorgeous baby.
So sorry about late mc probably. What a horrible thing to happen. Don't worry about being obsessed - we all are. My dh tells me I need to relax & not think about but he doesn't know the half of it!
Sorry about AF Cloud. I feel your pain! Especially when you read a thread moaning about us gorgeous older mums! I must confess, I saw a lady pushing a pram today & for once I didn't feel jealousy, I just started wondering if, now dd is 5, do I want to go back to the beginning again? Of course I do at the moment but I really think my mind is catching up to my body & is getting ready to say enough is enough.
I have just finished work for 3 whole weeks!! Well, I will go in next week but with no kids in so I can work at a leisurely pace & come & go as I please. Great that ov will fall during your holiday cityzen. I'm sure the relaxed feel can only be positive for getting upduffed.
Thanks for the gold stars ff. Totally deserved even if I do say so myself Grin I am cd 17 & have dtd loads since cd 8. Hoping for one tonight too but dh is out so I'll see if I can be bothered when he gets home.
Glad you're feeling sort of ok Jass. I had a similar positive feeling of 'well at least I got pregnant' as you are having with the baby holding on for those 7 weeks.
Hello gum. 2ww for you too?

Grizzer · 27/03/2015 19:17

Sorry moonstone forgot to ask if you've tested yet? Any updates?

ICallHimGerald · 27/03/2015 21:57

I was wondering about moonstone as well. Any news?

grizzer I feel the same no ds is older. Life is so good, I can't help wondering if I should just draw a line with it all.

Af is due on Sunday I think for me. I am sick of weeing in a bottle every morning for the trial. Although I guess the posh opks were worth it!

Gumblossom · 27/03/2015 23:05

Congratulations, Fatty, wonderful news.

HI Grizzer, yes, 2ww for me too, though, because DH was away, I think we DTD too late, so not expecting much. Also, the low temps had me baffled, but the last two days they've jumped up a bit. I am pretty sure I was right about when I oved - I get the O pain. I think the low temps may have been due to a very cold spell we had - so strange for this time of year down under, but a very welcome change. So, I am actually 9 DPO, which seemed to come around quickly - it is likely that AF will turn up in the next 5-7 days.

Sorry about AF cloud.

ladies, gess what? As soon as you see that bfp all these worries about whether I want to go back and restart it again fly out of the window to be replaced with serious hope that you can restart the baby business.

ChewyGiraffe · 28/03/2015 09:15

Fatty - many thanks for sharing your list - wow, that's quite a few tablets! Its about time I started something similar I think. I've heard of most of your list, but (sorry) it would be great if you wouldn't mind please helping me out with a couple of questions:

  • Evening Primrose Oil - what was the dose and did you take it through your whole cycle?
  • Red Clover - what type did you take? Also what was the dose and what cycle days did you take it on?

Anyway, wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

flotillas · 28/03/2015 23:23

Ladies, I am sorry to gatecrash but could do with an expert eye. I am seriously going out of my mind. I usually have 28-day cycles (ovulate on CD15 and always a 13-day luteal phase, except when I've been on Clomid when I ovulate on CD17 and have a 16- or 17-day LP). However, as you can see from my chart I am having an insufferably long LP having had a BFN two days ago (I haven't tested since). When I inputted the ewcm at 14dpo, Fertilty Friend changed my ov day to the current one (prior to inputting egg white FF pinpointed ov at CD14). Regardless of ov day I have never had a LP this long when not on Clomid. Oh...and the open circles over the past week are due to having a poorly little one; I had to take my temps between 4 and 5am instead of the usual 7am.

Can anyone cast any light on this mystery? I have no AF symptoms whatsoever - not even the slightest vague rumblings. In fact, I have had a marked decrease in appetite and keep feeling waves of nausea. I am sorry, I know I'm asking the impossible, but do you think it's possible to be pregnant after a BFN at 14 or 15dpo?

I have come here because I have lurked in the past and know there are some very smart women here. Jass, I am sorry for your loss, you are such a strong lady Thanks

Fridgedooropen · 29/03/2015 00:04

Evening all. Having a slightly frustrating time of it as it's CD12 here and there is no line at all yet on my OPK. Last month I agonised over a faint line on CD12 which turned out to be all I got; the month before I had strong surge lines on CD11 and CD12. It might be that my cycle is lengthening slightly - was 29 days instead of 28 last time too - but if so, it's picked a very annoying time for it, as DH goes away for 3 nights tomorrow, and we'll most likely miss ovulation. If, that is, I'm even going to ovulate this month. I know surge does not necessarily = ovulation but how likely it is that no surge = no ovulation?

flotillas afraid I am not well versed in charts so hope someone more expert pops their head in. I do wonder if the stress of having a poorly child has put everything on pause/slowed it down? Was there absolutely nothing, not even a faint line, on your BFN?

fatty congratulations! Great news.

Gumblossom · 29/03/2015 00:26

flotillas - that's a lovely looking chart - it looks decidely pregnant to me. Having a negative at 14 or 15 dpo does not meant you aren't pregnant, many women don't get a bfp until they are 5 weeks.

The things is, if ovulation day is out, it can mean the LP isn't accurate. Or maybe the LP is lengthened for some mysterious reason. I've had lp's that have been 16 days, which truely messed up my head!

If you are having nausea, then there's a possibility of pregnancy I suppose. My advice is to keep testing, and if AF doesn't turn up in a few days, see the GP for a blood test. There's not much else you can do except wait (and test again, please Grin)

Fridge, there's a chance that you missed the surge ( I know my window for catching it is tiny these days), so have SWI before DH goes away, just in case, then keep testing with the opk's to see a surge happens in the next couple of days.

I am thrilled that I have a triphasic chart! How about that?Very strange considering my super low temperatures, now that they are normalish, fertility friend have given me a "triphasic" on day 20, which "might be a sign of implantation". Now, as much as I'd love that, I really do doubt it! I also got a "low" score for intercourse timing, which doesn't surprise me.

I went out last night, had a couple of glasses of champagne and woke at about 5 am feeling extremely hot and sick. I distinctly remember a very similar feeling last year when I got pregnant, but I think it's just something that goes hand in hand with being perimenopausal - I just can't seem to drink anymore without feeling yucky.

I am going to drag myself to a yoga class in the hope that I will feel a bit better, then I think I'll have a nanna nap this afternoon.Smile

Hello ladies

Can I join your thread please? Im 40 years old, with an 11 month old and have been trying for my second for 4 cycles now.

It took 3 years to get pregnant with my DD, during which time I had a MMC at 13 weeks. Really nervous that I won't get pregnant again, due to my age and how long it took to get pregnant the first time.

I've been using internet cheapies to test for ovulation, and tend to be ovulating really late in my cycle 28-30 days typically, giving me a LP of about 4 -6 days. I also think that I have a really short ovulation window, which is why it took me so long to get pregnant.
Not sure what I can do to bring ovulation forward. I've been having reflexology once every two weeks, and thinking about going for acupuncture.

FattyFishwife · 29/03/2015 14:14

10000Fireflies · 29/03/2015 16:15

Fatty love it! One big handful! Made me lol!

Chewy take care with the EPO, as it's supposed to bring on AF, so stop at ovulation. I would prob stop the red clover at ov too, if it is same as soy isoflavones.

Welcome raisin. Don't panic. Many of us have conceived early 40s, it's when you start nudging mid to late 40s that there's much less chance. As for your cycle, see you GP, and look into soy isoflavones.

Welcome flotillas. Are you coming back, or was that all? We'd love to hear more details if you're joining for the ride.

How's everyone else. AF got me. Sad But at least i was prepared for it and didn't suffer so much with exhaustion. Not sure why. Now adding DHEA to supps and going to get some Maca. Got a FF acc too. Going to get DS's pom poms out and do a bit of cheering to see if I can jolly up some more BFPs.

Love to all.

flotillas · 29/03/2015 17:05

Ha! Yes, FF, thank you, I will join you all for the ride. Bit of a gatecrash last night, I felt rather silly. I am 44 and TTC my second child (I have a 2 yr old). This is my eighth cycle TTC and I take maca root and selenium, too, Fatty! (Congratulations btw Smile).

Thank you, Gum and Fridge, for referring to my chart, even if you are not a charter yourself. Here is today's effort. I have no AF symptoms whatsobloodyever. We even had nice thrusty sex this morning to bring on my period if it was being simply tardy..but nothing. I ran to my knicker drawer this morning after seeing another decent temp only to find I have run out of HPTs Shock So..I am none the wiser.

I just can't help thinking of that horrid arctic white BFN at 15DPO. I'm not pregnant...am I Sad

jassS · 29/03/2015 20:13

Hope flotillas next test would be the good one! Can exchange some of my still-too-strong testlines for that arctic whiteness!

And welcome raisin, too! I have a feeling that the idea that people in their 40ies can not conceive is seriously overrated! 40-43 is nothing reslly, msybe the cliff comes around 44-45 for most. people, but conceptions at 46-47 are not so rare neither. So you have time to get a few more out!

RaisinGirls · 30/03/2015 11:11

Ha jassS, I hope so. What are soy isoflavones, FF

cloudjumper · 30/03/2015 13:13

Welcome to the thread raisin and flotillas May your stay here be short and sweet.

flotillas Hmmm, not sure what to say about your chart, sorry! Based on my experience, the fact that your temps have been dropping suggests that you are not pg, even if they have not yet come below coverline. Have you maybe had a cold or other illness recently? I've been cruelly deceived once, where my temps continued to stay up, even though I wasn't pg - turned out it must have been due to an infection I was fighting at the time, masking the temps. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear! I might be completely wrong, of course.

raisin Have you had your progesterone levels tested at all? Your LP sounds really short! This could potentially be an issue when ttc, making implantation difficult. Your GP should be able to do the test easily, might be worth asking.

I had quite a wobble yesterday. We had friends over for lunch who have 2 DS, and the older one is DS's best buddy from previous childminding days. As he was chatting along excitedly, he suddenly started listing the siblings of his friends, i.e. 'X has a brother, and Y has a sister'. And then - completely casually - 'I don't have any brothers and sisters.' It really floored me. It was completely deadbeat, he was simply stating a fact, no questions associated or anything, but it made me so sad Sad. And worried that soon he'll start asking 'why?'.
It's the first time ever he has mentioned it, and ever since I have the echo of his little voice in my head, repeating that sentence over and over again. Sigh.

jassS · 30/03/2015 14:39

Raisin, soy isoflavones are what some ppl call nature's clomid. It is claimed that ir will enhace the hormones necessary to create a healthy egg and help to balance all hormones for the Luteal hase, too. There is a thread here on conception and google throws up a lot of them on other forums as well.

ChewyGiraffe · 30/03/2015 14:58

Oh Cloud have some Flowers - I so hear you on the brothers and sisters worry! DD is only 20 months, so she's not articulating that idea yet, but I dread the day it happens. We go to a few age-group restricted classes where its just Mums (or Dads) plus one DC of around DD's age, so I feel fine. But then we also go to one really busy playgroup for all pre-school kids, so the Mums turn up with the entire family of siblings in tow, and I spend way too much time covertly assessing age gaps out of the corner of my eye, then wanting to go home and weep. BTW, I think there's four sets of non-identical twins. Unusual ...

Raisin - Great advice from Cloud and Fireflies. I'm going to take soy isoflavones this cycle (shamelessly copied from FF, Jass and others). Its said to be 'nature's clomid' and one effect is supposed to be that it can bring ovulation forward for ladies with long cycles. Though I'm hoping it doesn't bring ov forward in my case, because its quite early enough!

ChewyGiraffe · 30/03/2015 15:01

Sorry - cross posts with Jass ...

Jass - hope you're doing OK?

jassS · 30/03/2015 15:31

Cloud, it is so sad when little ones start innocently asking these q. During lots of my mc my youngest has asked for a baby sister, interestingly never when I have not been mcing. And now, when this last mc happened, he kept coming to me and listening my heartbeat. He has never ever done it, but somehow he was reading my thoughts about heartbeat. Obviously mine was not missing, so he was happy enough though, but seems he still is so close to me that he knows what is in my head. Maybe your little one similarily gets into your head and knows what tape is running in there.

I have firmly told him there will be no baby sisters, he was the last one left in my tummy, and he kind of accepts it now. If finally there will be, we will deal with it then.

Grizzer · 30/03/2015 16:56

It is hard when dc's ask about siblings Cloud. Dd does it all the time. I used to think it was more of a prediction but I'm thinking that less & less!
I've read a few tales of little ones sensing pregnancy before even the mum knows Jass. It's pretty amazing. Apparently cats do it too!
Welcome Raisin & flotillas.
If you're lurking moonstone hope you're ok. Let us know what's happening x

joey38 · 30/03/2015 17:31

Hi everyone,
Gosh - I haven't been on for a while, so struggling to keep up.
Firstly though: Jass so sorry to hear how it turned out. I really had high hopes for you, and I couldn't believe it when I read the update. It sounds like you are dealing well with it, but I know how tough it is to go through. Here's to you feeling positive for trying again.

Congrats to Fatty on the BFP! Am I right in thinking that we currently have 2 recent bfps on here now? Easttowest too??

Sorry to all you others who are out for this month. I also got my af bang on time which was already 2 weeks ago, as I am now on CD15 - where does the time go?? I've been doing opks this month, and had better luck with them this time. Previously I had used the CB ones that are supposed to flash for a few days, and then become a solid smiley face. The last few times that I used them I went straight from an empty circle one day, to the smiley face the next, with nothing in between, which of course made me question - what is going on??!! This month I had 3 days of flashing faces, and then the solid, so I am feeling more like a 'normal' person whose body is following the instructions as it says on the packet!!! If only dh was as co-operative. We had a big row discussion the other night about the ttc malarkey, and he basically said that he was feeling under so much pressure each month, and that he was losing his enthusiasm for having a second child if it meant that our sex life became so calculated. I have to say, I don't disagree with him, but I just can't let it go completely. Anyway, we have come to a bit of a compromise, and we have actually managed to dtd about 4 times since then, so I'm feeling quite well covered (but would really like to squeeze one more in tonight!!).

I've also been to see a new accupuncturist/fertility expert who has put me on a whole load of new supplements - DHEA, Co-enzyme Q10, and ProXeed. DH also supposed to be taking the male ProXeed although I notice the packet I left out for him this morning is still there (grrrr!!!). She has also instructed me to read the book: 'It starts with the egg'. Anyone else on here read that? It's all about improving the quality of your eggs (especially when you're old!!). I'll let you all know if I glean anything useful from it.

I haven't had the issue yet about ds asking about siblings. To be honest, he is such a mummy's boy that I don't think the possibility of sharing me with any other kids would ever cross his mind!! I actually think it would be more of an issue for him if a brother or sister did ever appear. He turns 3 on Thursday this week - eek - I never anticipated that age gap!!!

Anyway, hope you're all keeping well, and doing what you need to be for wherever you are in your cycles. I am going to try and keep a bit more up-to-date here........

Gumblossom · 31/03/2015 00:04

Hi everyone.
I was hoping for an update from Moonstone and Flotillas. It's a bit like a television serial: I can't wait to see what happens next (living vicariously,I suppose).

Cloud - I am sorry about the siblings question. It certainly puts a dagger in the heart doesn't it? My DS used to ask me a bit, but it's stopped now. I guess he's realised that it is unlikely as I explained to him that I am getting too old and that I was super-lucky to have had him when I did.

My chart has gone triphasic (apparently, according to Fertility Friend, which said it may indicate implantation - but I am not buying it). So at least the temps went up. However, I don't have a single symptom of pregnancy, so I am just waiting for AF to turn up. Not at all surprised because timing was pretty bad.

Ah well, nothing gained, nothing lost. Life is pretty good, so I am just going to keep enjoying it, taking my big handful of supplements and getting on with it.Smile

cloudjumper · 31/03/2015 08:54

joey I'm with you on the calculated sex life - it's sh*t. I hate that I always have to consult one calendar or other, ovulation detection devices and the lot. Plus, I have now started using Pre-Seed, to help avoid the blasted UTIs that I keep getting from dtd 3-4 days in a row. Nothing could be less romantic.
I've read the 'It starts with the egg' book, it is quite informative! Although detrimental for my finances, as I am now paying so much money for supplements... But hey-ho, whatever works.
I am trying to stay clear of anything that might interfere with ovulation, but it has started coming forward anyway, not sure if it's an effect of the supplements... I take folic acid, omega 3/6/9, CoQ10 and DHEA, plus cranberry tablets (those are to prevent UTIs - hopefully). DH is on the Wellman conception vits.

m00n How are you, any news?!

CD9 today, gearing up for the next round of ttc... Note the excitement here Confused

ozmund · 31/03/2015 09:18

Hello. Can I join your thread? I have been following for a few months so know there is a well-established gang.

I am 40 and ttc#1 - this is the start of our 5th cycle.

Some of the things I have noticed:

-I have a 27 days cycle on average, and through temping I've identified a clear shift starting day 13 or 14.

-I've been using CB digi opks - first time I went straight from Low to Peak overnight, last month I caught a static smiley on the morning of my first temp rise which had turned to Peak by tea time.
-I have a slow rise which finally peaks 3 or 4 day after a Peak opk. I'm confused as to whether this means I take 72 hours to actually Ov, or whether it is my initial temp raise the day of the Peak which is ovulation? Concerned this could be a sign of low Progesterone - has anyone else investigated this?
-My temperatures also seem fairly 'flat' temperatures pre and post ovulation, but I have been taking a range of supplements and wonder if this has affected my hormones?

-I also have a lot of lower back pain / cramps around 4-10 dpo - again wondering if this is a sign of low Progesterone

Although I know it's still early days for my age, I'm thinking of seeing a doctor to get the ball rolling with some tests.
