Fingers crossed for you today flotilla!

Flotillasonair · 01/07/2015 11:32

Thank you! We have a heartbeat at 9+3! Thank you, my friends for cheering me on xx

cloudjumper · 01/07/2015 11:56

Great news flotilla!

And for you as well, jass! Fingers crossed this is a sticky one!

Better get on with starting that 40+ and pregnant thread now...

jassS · 01/07/2015 16:01

Oh good, Flotillas!
another weak bfp here today. Not stronger than yesterday, though I could see it in 10 minutes (because I knew it could be there). i think I actually might have been only 8dpo yesterday, so no wonder. Tomorrow I expect a better showing if it wants to prove me its not a chemical

fromwesttoeast · 01/07/2015 17:06

Congratulations to those with good news.
I'm just plodding along here with nothing to report! I've all but given up on hopes of a successful pregnancy. I feel differently since the last mc. I notice that most women who are having positive outcomes are having some medical support which seems to be the key to success. Without that, I think my chances of carrying to term are minimal. Nevertheless I will continue a laid back approach, not exactly ttc, but not avoiding conception either.
Certain work opportunities have come my way, and it seems better to focus on that and other things in life, rather than planning for a baby which is probably never coming. Having said that I'm not quite ready yet to clear out the baby stuff from the loft!

cloudjumper · 01/07/2015 18:41

I'm soooo relieved - my Downs risk has come back at 1:932, much better than I was expecting! Given that my age alone puts me at a risk of about 1:50ish, I am really happy with that! Might have a small glass of wine to celebrate tonight WineSmile

Grizzer · 01/07/2015 18:55

A happy thread today!! Lovely news Flotillas. Not long til 12 week pics!
Congratulations Jass. You really deserve your take home baby with all the hard work you are putting in.
Brilliant news Cloud. Those are great odds. My dr said if mine come back I:50 I can relax!
Don't lose heart Fromwest. My intervention is only clexane because I had a DVT a few years ago. Other than that I have gone au natural with herbs & acupuncture.

jassS · 01/07/2015 19:12

Fromwest, most, if not all our supplements and medcines are not really proven to help. Even for the progesterone it is often said that it does not really help, only masks problematic pg and prolonges mc. The only proven issue is clotting troubles, but much more women take anticoagulants than those with proven issues. I have none, but there is some theory that aspirin keeps blood flow smooth towards embryo and clexane somehow protects placenta from immune attacks. At the same time, lots of docs insist that finally it comes down to the lining of a particular month and an embryo of the same motnh must match and we do not really know how to measure all that. Just all proof is empirical that some things seem to help. It is therefore not much less probable for you than for me, I have had several tries with different interventions, but it seems to come down to the natural immuno response after several male pgs, which protects mother from further pg so she can grow her existing breed. it is said to lessen over years and indeed, my pregnancies devlop further in the last year. But no medcine seems really to help. i take them, because it is hard not to, but I am not sure any of them helps.

Cloud, so relieved to hear! Onwards and upwards - you show that those who persevere through a number of losses get there, unless of course time simply runs out. it did not run out for you!

For me it is defo too esrly for congrats. Remains to be seen in coming days, if it is not chem (2x weak line is a slight warning for me), and then I need to have that pg 3+ no later than 5+2. That would show no embryo damage, which will later kill it off.....

joey38 · 01/07/2015 20:46

Hi all. Long time no write!! Sorry, sorry - I've had my head in the sand since af last month - losing all enthusiasm for anything ttc related!!

So much to catch up on. Start with gum. I don't know if you are still lurking on here, but I'm so sorry that it didn't work out for you and that you feel you have come to the end of your ttc journey. I had high hopes for you.

Great news cloud grizzer and flotillas, especially cloud today on that great downs risk number. I think anyone of any age would be happy with that. Hope the rest of you get similarly good odds.

jass amazing that you may have another bfp. You seem to catch incredibly easily. I know that it hasn't yet worked out for you, but at least you are getting on the first rung of the ladder. I haven't even managed that in 2 years. It does make me wonder how some people can fall pg so easily, while others not. I don't mean that in a 'it's not fair way' - just wondering how it can be so different. I hope this is a good one for you Jass if it is a bfp.

As for me - I'm somewhere around cd22 or 23 - no opks or temps for me this month - couldn't be bothered!! I have had the most amazing amount of sex though!! Don't ask me why, but my dh who normally has to be nagged at the crucial time in the month has been amazingly frisky!! Seriously we managed it 8 times in the fertile window!! Still don't believe I could be pg though!! Anyway we're of on hols on Friday for 2 weeks, so af would be due around the start of our first week. If she doesn't come and I do get a bfp then that would be a bummer as we'll be in France - the land of wine, cheese and pate!! Still, I would happily sacrifice those for a positive result.

Anyway, good to catch up with you all. Seems like a happy thread at the moment.

ozmund · 01/07/2015 21:31

Thank you everyone so much for your support. I have been away for a few days and am getting teary reading your kind words. You have given me a lot to think about - I shall definitely take the 75mg aspirin if I get another bfp. Even though it was so fleeting it feels strange that there isn't anything there anymore. I want to start trying again straight away - I'm barely getting a line on an hpt now so have dug the thermometer and opks out again. The EPU have said they will also scan me again at 7 weeks, also they will do tests if I have a second miscarriage (which I am trying not to think about at the moment.) I am slightly concerned that we may also have autoimmune problems in the family as my sister's son has an immuno deficient condition and my mum has just been diagnosed with MS. I think I definitely need to see my GP again.

Flotillas congratulations on your 9 week scan I am delighted to hear you had a strong heartbeat after your worries about spotting. Flowers I am glad you won't have much longer to wait til your 12 week scan, it must be amazing to see a baby there at that stage and it's not just a little dark blob.

Jass I have everything crossed for your bfp. You are always so supportive to others and generous in sharing your knowledge. You are a Star

ICallHimGerald · 01/07/2015 22:16

A big thumbs up to all the good news today. So good to hear things going well for some of us. And to echo ozmund, the support and advice from people on here (like jass) leaves me feeling all warm inside. Such a supportive thread.

Flotillasonair · 01/07/2015 22:52

Ozmund, I was thinking of you today. In the waiting room for my scan I was assisting a young woman who was bent over with nausea. She had become pregnant with triplets from 3 separate eggs! Sadly one of them had 'disappeared, leaving twins, but the third sac and yolk remained giving her triple pregnancy hormones. She was a mess - a beautiful mess - but still, she was very poorly and at only thirteen weeks she was having to be put on an IV drip. She has a 17 month-old at home.

She was deeply upset to be in this predicament (twins) and I thought sadly how you, Ozmund, would have swapped with her in a heartbeat. I hope you stick around here with us so we can watch with joy your next bfp. You still have lots of time. The lady today was very young (twenties) and so this 'disappearing' of one or more multiples is quite possibly not to do with maternal age? I hope my tale hasn't upset you; it is to give you hope. You are not broken Thanks

Flotillasonair · 01/07/2015 23:07

Nice to see you Joey. I am cheering your efforts along! 8 sex sessions??! How long is your fertile window, 8 weeks?? Grin

Another here who didn't have any assistance with this bfp, Fromwest. I took coenzyme q10, maca root, fish oil, magnesium and Brazil nuts and had sex every other day from cd9-13, when I got my Clear blue peak smiley, then did it again on cd14. No sex at all before cd9. And my husband smokes, the bastard.

What I am saying is that I agree with Jass entirely in that it is the egg and the lining that have to be right..the rest is just inconsequential. Probably. Yes, there are some women who will have immune issues, but for the rest of us it is all about the right egg, which means not giving up getting the sperm in. Every day is not essential. Give the old men's sperm time to replenish. And make the old man take his shops. They are proven to make differences to sperm quality. Don't give up, Fromwest Thanks

Hope Chewy & Fireflies & Annie are okay? Hello there, Gerald, where are you in your cycle? Notsoold, where are you?

Flotillasonair · 01/07/2015 23:09

*shops?? I mean supps!

Flotillasonair · 01/07/2015 23:10

Cloud! you must be on the ninth cloud, right? Grin Well done, old girl!

jassS · 02/07/2015 07:37

Looks like ai had a chem. Third day in a row the same extra weak line can not be anything else. Ok, at least when I get my period I can get back to enjoying wine, cheese and pate as Luxembourg is after all, practically France, so we have it all nicely here! It is a heat wave here and even with keeping myself well hydrated and behaving until AF, I am pretty sure this was chemical.

Disappearing twin is a common issue, also by some docs considered as a way of natural protection, if body feels not strong to carry two (or three) to date. Does not depend on age, and the young woman with triplets has only given birth less than 2 years ago, obviously her body was finding it hard to cope!

JOey, I hope it is your month and Ozmund, i still rememeber how heartbroken I was with for example my second mc and third - it took time to accept I am now in the rmc territory and at that time ai did not know that for over 40ies certain rmc territory only starts from 6th mc - even after 5 ones you have 50% chance to go to term next time without interventions and it does not fall much lower even further on - because we just do not know what survives and what does not. I was only as down with this last one now, as previously I only lost embryos without heartbeats, the last one was a late first trimester one, much much harder to recover from and i can not say get over - it will always be my baby I lost, becuase he had head, body, arm and leg buds and was therefore present in this world.... Gum, I hope you are slightly starting to feel like there might be the other end to come out at.....

Flotillasonair · 02/07/2015 08:00

Oh Jass Sad

fromwesttoeast · 03/07/2015 02:31

Really sorry that you suspect a chem Jass. Such a roller coaster.
Thanks for your supportive words earlier, and from Grizzer and Flottillas too.
Congratulations on such positive news Cloud.

Grizzer · 04/07/2015 08:58

Sorry to hear it's a chem Jass. Enjoy plenty of pate & wine as some sort of compensation.
It sometimes does feel that everyone else is getting pg Joey. I had a 20 month dry spell too but then have had 2 pregnancies in 6 months. Our bodies are strange. 8 times is very impressive! Are you still recovering?!
My 12 week scan is tomorrow morning. I had a bit of a wobble yesterday where I was sure everything had gone wrong. Weird story though: I took dd to see my class as it was the last day of term. As we were leaving 2 girls came running up to me & said 'Ciara (dd) says you're having a baby & it's her sister.' I just said it's what she hoped for but actually it's the 3rd time she's said something like it. The other day she said 'you've got my sister in your tummy but she's too small to come out yet.'
I'm sure it can be explained a thousand ways but I like to think she's got some psychic thing about her & she's right! Weird eh?
2 people at work have asked if I'm pg (they are friends). Apparently one of the parents asked when I was due yesterday too! So much for hiding it. I am quite big already but it's my 5th pregnancy so I suppose I'm stretched already!

VortexOfDisaster · 04/07/2015 09:17

Really pleased to hear how well things are going for cloud and Flotilla. I have everything crossed that it continues.

Jass - is it too soon to write it off? Is AF still not due for a couple of days? I am amazed at your knowledge of all things ttc, so I suspect that if you are saying that then you know what you are talking about. But I am still rooting for you that it works out!

VortexOfDisaster · 04/07/2015 09:20

Best of luck for tomorrow Grizzer! Really hope your dd is right. Am excited for you.

How many children do you have?

ozmund · 04/07/2015 10:42

How are you today Jass? I have been hoping that you are still getting positives and that they are getting stronger.

I find it so strange that there are still so many unknowns about miscarriage in this day. To be honest I was also shocked at how little information there was on 'official' sites e.g. NHS about the miscarriage process and what to expect. I have seen it quoted so many times that the pain is like 'a bad period'. Fffffttt!!

Grizzer I will be thinking of you tomorrow morning and very much look forward to hearing your news.

Joey do you have any plans to test or are you just going to wait it out?

ICallHimGerald · 04/07/2015 11:04

I agree oz. And I always get annoyed when anyone has a miscarriage on tv and it's portrayed as go to the toilet and there's blood. And that's it. All done. No rolling around on the floor in agony, no hospital visits, no waiting and fearing the worst Sad

Grizzer · 04/07/2015 11:09

Just one dd Vortex. She's 5. The latest I've got to since then is 18 weeks but we knew it wasn't good from 12 weeks so tomorrow will be a big one!

Gumblossom · 05/07/2015 01:48

Grizzer, I have everything crossed for you! Can't wait to hear your good news.

I am very pleased to hear that flotillas and cloud are going well.

Jass - any change in the bfp?

I haven't been around much, mainly because I am not finding the miscarriage all that easy. Physically it is all done and dusted, I feel fine (normal) but I am coming to terms with the fact that I won't be having a baby and that hurts. Also, staying away from mumsnet a bit because it is so often a reminder of the fact that I can't ttc again.

I have actually changed from, "never again", to "I wish I could", in the ttc stakes. However, DH wants to move on, which is fair enough, so I have to accept my lot and move on. I keep hoping that somehow, magically I will wake up one day and find myself 12 weeks pregnant (or 16 or 20) - but we all know that's not going to happen.

I am, however, back at the gym, living my life and making other plans. Every now and again I'll quietly slip away to remember my little lost ones, and I feel sad for my losses.

Ozmund - I am very sorry to hear of your losses too. I do hope you will have your happy ending. You too, Annie, how are you?

Fingers crossed for everyone Thanks
