VortexOfDisaster · 26/06/2015 09:23

Flotillas great to hear about your scan. Please stay! I really like hearing the positive stories. It gives hope!

Grizzer · 26/06/2015 17:49

Nice one Flotillas!! How's the sickness?
I'm 11 weeks today. Still very nauseous so hope that's a good sign.
I love Long Lost Family too Annie. What with that & One Born Every Minute it's no wonder dh keeps hold of the remote!
Glad you're feeling a bit better Gum. The exercise sounds good. I am finishing work for the summer next Friday & want to start swimming. I've put on so much weight nothing fits me!
How is your TTC motivation Jass?

ozmund · 26/06/2015 20:38

Hello
I haven't been on MN for a while and am so sorry to come back and see sad news from Gum and Anniehoo, but so pleased see you are doing so well Grizzer and Flotillas.
I deliberately stayed away to try and stop myself stressing & worrying about things. I was due to start fertility tests in May after 6 months ttc only to discover a few days beforehand that I was actually pregnant. At 6 weeks I started light spotting and after a few days went to the EPU and had an early ultrasound which revealed 3 gestational sacs, one of which was empty and two which had yolk sacs and only estimated at 5 weeks. The spotting got heavier and heavier the following week, then on Saturday night I miscarried them all.
I'm trying to understand what went wrong and can only think that all my eggs are such poor quality that is why they all failed, or that my progesterone is ridiculously low. I was randomly diagnosed with the Promthrombin gene a year ago (never had any DVT or symptoms) and I mentioned this to the midwife when I first found out I was pregnant but she refused to do anything about it and said I had to wait til my booking appointment at 8 weeks (I had just got to 8 weeks when I miscarried.) I suppose I am looking for answers when it seems so many things could be wrong. I have stocked up on vits (co-q10, maca etc.) and have dragged myself back to the gym but am generally at a loss at what else I can do

VortexOfDisaster · 27/06/2015 00:08

Hi ozmund

I'm really sorry - that's so sad.

There are posters here who will be able to give you better advice than I could about your particular situation, so I won't try to guess. But a chat with your GP or ob/gyn will probably help.

In the meantime, look after yourself because ms is a horrible thing to have to go through - that I do know! Flowers

If it helps, lots of women - including some on this thread - go on to have healthy babies following ms.

Grizzer · 27/06/2015 07:37

I'm so sorry Ozmund. What an awful thing to through. Go to your GP. Hopefully when you next get pregnant you will be sent to EPU first rather than having to wait for a midwife. I had an mc in November & my progesterone level was really low. I rubbed cream on my upper arms every night & next time round my progesterone was fine.
You may also need clexane injections for the thrombosis risk which can also help the placenta (I think!)
You could have lost your babies for any number of reasons - it might not be the quality of your eggs.
Give yourself some time and then try again - every time is different x

cloudjumper · 27/06/2015 19:58

flotillas Great scan news!

annie It's a tough decision, deciding whether to continue ttc, don't rush it... Hope you're feeling as OK as can be expected.

gum Lovely name, and I think it's great that you are immersing yourself in forward planning. Hope you're holding up, too!

grizzer I'm with you about the weight - I have put on about 5kg, which is not too bad, given how much I have been eating these last weeks, but I would really like to keep the weight gain in check! Really hope that I can start exercising again soon (at the moment, it's just not possible, I still feel really sick a lot of the time).

ozmund I'm so sorry to hear about your ordeal. It is so cruel to have this great news, to then have it taken away again so quickly afterwards.
I second that you should take the clotting issue up with your GP, or possibly with a consultant - are they doing any tests on your miscarriage at all? Clotting issues can contribute/cause miscarriage, and they should discuss this with you, if you are planning to ttc again. Don't let them fob you off!
Have you ever had the 'usual' tests, ie. hormones, karyotyping, uterine scan? Sorry, I can't remember if this was your first mc, if you've had any before, they should be willing to do some investigations. And don't let them fob you off!

We got back from a lovely holiday last night, and I am still shattered from the long drive (with horrendous traffic, once we got to the UK, driving in France was lovely).
I am now - gulp - 13+5, well and truly in the second trimester Confused and therefore also well and truly in the next danger zone. Dating scan is on Monday, but I feel more nervous about the screening bloods. No doubt I will have a higher risk due to my age, and I'm trying to decide how high a risk I can accept, before we do the Harmony test. Last time, scan was perfect, but the screening bloods gave me a 1:17 risk for Down's... Think I will just have to wait it out and decide there and then when I get the results.

BTW, I have not yet gotten round to start a 40+ pregnant thread, will try and do it this weekend!

jassS · 27/06/2015 20:59

Ozmund, sorry for your loss! Please make sure that cleaxane and progesterone is at hand when you fall pg next time. I have found that most docs are ready to give you prescriptions for them you can fill in as soon as tou get bfp. Try a chat withtour doctors when you feel up to it. Aspirin (75mg, heart or baby aspirin) may also help, if for some reason medical personal is not willing to help you with clexane/heparin.

Cloud, why not just have Harmony and get out of the worrying misery? If affordable, I would not hesitate at all! Then all the nuchals and bloods and probabitities can be simply avoided?

I am in tww, relatively properly, even cutting back on exercise (not runningmore than 6km and only when not too hot! ). And gluten free, alcohol free, sugar free. Not caffeine three, but I need some vices to keep me sane:-)))

cloudjumper · 29/06/2015 12:51

I had my dating scan this morning, and everything is looking good! All measurements are fine, nuchal fold was 1.9mm, which I am happy with. Got put back slightly from 14 weeks to 13+3, but I can live with that Grin

Now all I need is to get through the next few days to wait for the blood screening results. If they find anything of concern, they'll ring me in 2-3 days, if not, I'll get a letter in 4-6 days... Wish I had asked them to ring me regardless...
This will be my biggest milestone, as this is where things started to go downhill last time. Willing my phone not to ring for the next few days...

jass - After my experience with the Harmony test last time, I decided that I am happy to wait for the NHS blood results, cost really being the biggest factor, to be honest. I should have the results by the end of this week, and although I realise that my age will increase the risk significantly, I feel that I need to see the number before deciding on further steps. After all, the Harmony test, even though massively more accurate, also only calculates a risk - and as I know all too well, it still can fail. And even if I do the Harmony test and get a low risk - I don't think that I will be able to relax and feel reassured until this baby is here.
I do hope, though, that the NHS hurry up and offer the Harmony as routine screening soon, it would be such a massive step forward.

grizzer When are you having your next scan? You must be due the dating scan soon as well...

Hope everyone else is doing OK! Sorry for not more name-checking, I have over 300 emails to go through at work today...

reni1 · 29/06/2015 14:04

Superb, cloud. I've not been on the thread for a while, there have been a few of pregnancies and a few losses since I last read it. Flowers to all those experiencing a loss and a Mexican wave for the pregnant ones.

So just jumping in where I am, will read back soon. I'm awaiting AF, CD1 today or tomorrow. I'm sure this month is not the month.

Flotillasonair · 29/06/2015 15:28

Ozmund, I can't believe how sad this is Sad Did you release three eggs, then? I am so, so sorry. I hope you get some resolution regarding what happened and where to go from here Thanks
Cloud! What a thrill to be here and safe. Much luck for the rest of your pregnancy Thanks

Jass, when will you test? Fwiw I am addicted to caffeine and am refusing to quit

I have been randomly wiping the palest beige discharge when I go to pee. You really have to squint and I have no pain or cramps. However, I became terrified and shamefully rang the epu and lied, saying I was bleeding. I have another scan on Wednesday at 9+3 Blush

Grizzer · 29/06/2015 18:23

Great news Cloud. I hope you can start to relax soon. I had some more bleeding last night, not much but it always scares me. My dating scan is on Sunday. They must have targets to meet to be scanning at the weekend! It means I will have to go back the next day for blood tests though. Apparently results take a couple of weeks to come back & if I'm high risk, they will be sent somewhere else so I'm expecting a long wait. I'd be very happy with a nuchal fold like that Cloud. I hope I get a low one but I never have before.

jassS · 29/06/2015 22:01

Ladies, please try not to spot or anything - I am freaking out for you all pg ladies if this happens to you! It is terrifying even if it usually is nothing, but I worry for all of you. And since I worry anyway, you can of course spare the worrying and just delegate to me. At least I can safely worry as I am not pg! testing this mo on Wednesady, time flying by and no sypmtom spotting here:-) Its summer, after all!

jassS · 30/06/2015 17:24

I tested early today and bfn. But when I returned from work, I found a line. it is a blue-line test, but I do not usulaly get lines if there is no hcg in my organism with them. hmm..

jassS · 30/06/2015 19:32

Cloud, I remember now your Harmony experience from last time! I hope you can be happy and relaxed without it this time. it must be so wonderful to get positive scan news!

Flotillasonair · 30/06/2015 20:05

Jass!! How many dpo are you? I'm so excited! What can you do this time to ward off the evil killer cells or whatever? Aaaaargh! Hurrah! GrinThanks

Flotillasonair · 30/06/2015 20:08

Grizzer, big best wishes for Sunday.

My scan is tomorrow am. There hasn't been any beige spotting for two days and still no cramps. My pectoral muscles hurt when I walk fast. I feel like puking when I hit the sack. I'm still terribly afraid. 9+2 today.

Flotillasonair · 30/06/2015 20:10

Gum, come talk to us Thanks

jassS · 30/06/2015 20:11

I am 9DPO. All I could do differently from last time is done already. i have been taking natural immune suppressor Wobenzyme for 6weeks, I took soy as late as possible, days 4-8, I have used progesterone suppositories since ov, and also baby aspirin since ov. I have now added prednisolone even if I know the line may have been a fluke - but its blue and I can capture it on photo, so usually it has meant for me sth. it may as well turn out to be nothing/early chem, but I have to test to start stuff quickly. I will add lovenox to protect placenta when I get a line which I seriously believe in. maybe tomorrow or the day after.

jassS · 30/06/2015 20:12

Flotillas, please get that positive scan news back to us quickly! it has to be happy news, it has to!

Flotillasonair · 30/06/2015 20:48

Jass, you are a warrior. Tell me more about Wobenzyme...do you mean it is homeopathic? Shock What mg of pred are you on? Your friends on the pred thread..what Do they say about your concoction? I guess you're one of the most informed women on there, right? Oh, I hope with all my heart this is your take-home baby.

My scan is 10.30 and I will post asap afterwards. So afraid....

jassS · 30/06/2015 21:35

i am afraid I am thr most obsessed person here. I am a bit ashamed about how seriously ai have been taking supplementing since last mc, even if I have found dtd a real effort and not been symptom seeking or anything. But having the hb last time and then losing it made me determined to make more human experiments with myself, as long as O stay pm supplements which can not hurt, ie. re more or less natural. Wobenzyme is not homeopathic, it is a bioactive supplement helping ppl with autoimmune issues. Some information suggests it gives similar protection to pg as does pred, but is of course less strong. Since I do not ovulate while on pred I can not take that stuff all the time to control immunes, so have been supplementing with Wobenzyme. am also on coq10, omega 3, folic acid and magnesium, since last pg loss was after a week of cramps. i have no way of knowing whether the cause was mc and cramps the results or vice versa, but my baby was alive still after about 2 weeks of cramping, so maybe if I had managed to control it it would have not died? magnesium is used in later pg anyway as a substance to control early or uncomfortable contractions. But I would not advise anyone else to try any of the things I do, it all has to be individual to everybody and based on their history of pg or mc. My doctor has allowed me to take all this stuff, She knows and is supportive all or that does not hurt, so to say:-)
