good luck with the scan kuma

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 10:23

pont I'm looking into that clinic too :-)

IamKuma · 20/03/2015 10:52

Thanks for all the pompoming, it worked! Follicle has zoomed to 13mm overnight. I've a selection of drugs to pick up tomorrow, indomethacin to try and stop ovulation and an antibiotic. Then the usual selection of bum-bullets for after collection which the nurse thinks might be Tuesday.

barking how are you doing today? Laughed out loud at the FC reading about the price of hose when I was waiting for my scan. Hadn't noticed it in you original post!

Right must dash as I've actually got to get some work done..... Sorry not to say hi properly to everybody else !

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 11:26

Not sure if anyone can answer this and it is something that I have tried to raise with the clinic - I have an AMH of 17.4 and had 17 good sized follicles on my precollection scan. They only got three eggs out though, and one of them was immature.
I'm really cross that given the low number of viable eggs they didn't automatically use ICSI and instead left them to fertilise on their own - resulting in only one.
I also cannot understand how that many follicles and that AMH score there were only three there - thoughts please ladies? Anyone else had a similar experience? Phe xx

(clinic said that it could just be one of those things and if it happens again then they will know there is a problem - which will be f all good because I will have exhausted my NHS cycles) x

beakybeak · 20/03/2015 11:30

Just quickly popping on to say well done Kuma's follie!! That's brilliant news.

Tiger hope you're feeling better today and wow impressed re 6.30am hot yoga! I'd love to try that.

WildflowerMarmalade · 20/03/2015 11:59

Yay! Yay! Yay! For Kuma's follie. Brilliant news. I'm keeping the pom-poms going here.

Phe What dose of drugs were you on? Were you long or short protocol? Did you take the pill or any oestrogen tablets before you started injecting the stimulating drugs?

WildflowerMarmalade · 20/03/2015 12:04

Also Phe how were you monitored before EC- did you have scans and bloods done before the trigger? How often?

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 13:13

I was on long protocol
lots of scans before trigger, the only bloods I had done were at my treatment planning a month earlier - the usual stuff, STD tests, AMH etc
I didn't take any pills before EC (or at all)
I was on Suprecur 0.5, then Menopur 250 in addition to the Suprecur.
Menopur was increased to 300 in the last few days of treatment
since treatment just the cyclogest bum bullets.
I am full bleeding now, it must be AF x

I have been treated for endometriosis in Oct 2013 - they can't see any blockages, I'd never even heard of an endo scratch before I came on here.

Thanks everyone for your help, I am trying to hold it together at my desk and make it through the day x

WildflowerMarmalade · 20/03/2015 13:19

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding Phe . Can you go home early? Look after yourself. Flowers

beakybeak · 20/03/2015 13:23

Phe I'm so sorry I somehow missed your earlier post, what a shit time you're having. I don't have any idea why you had such a low number of eggs compared to follicle number, maybe one of the others might know something. You might need the max dose of menopur next round, how many goes do you get? Have you rang them to say you are bleeding properly?

So sorry Flowers

beakybeak · 20/03/2015 13:24

Also, as Wild says, go home early work is not that important.x

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 13:42

I've had so much sick already. I'll ring them now to say its full on, I just want to quit the bum bullets now and just let AF get on with it - seems silly to keep taking them when I'm bleeding this much anyway. My parents have said they will fund some IVF abroad so that's good news - but I still want to understand how the good AMH, good follicles resulted in a rubbish crop of eggs. Phe xx

IamKuma · 20/03/2015 13:56

phe no answers from me I'm afraid but sending you a big hug.

barkingtreefrog · 20/03/2015 14:16

phe I'm so sorry it seems it's all over this time Thanks.
I can't answer questions about the eggs, I'm still wondering why I haven't got as many follicles as expected and I don't even know how many eggs I've got yet. On the ICSI though, we were told that was decided purely on the basis of sperm quality. If the swimmers were weak they would select the best and put them in, if the swimmers were ok they'd put them all in to fight it out, the theory being that natural selection would allow survival of the fittest better than someone in a lab looking down a microscope.

barkingtreefrog · 20/03/2015 14:17

kuma excellent news! Grin Looks like you'll be in the day after me! Smile

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 14:36

thanks barking that makes sense. Good luck with your follicles xx

Does anyone know how long you (roughly) have to wait between cycles? I've got one more NHS go left (plus a frozen if they get enough out that time).

thanks, Phe x

Gillster · 20/03/2015 15:43

So sorry Phe to hear your news, hope you can get yourself home early. Do you have a sympathetic boss?

I've had no experience personally but I did run into a friend at my FC during treatment who had a good follicle count and AMH who produced no eggs. That was her one NHS go and has now been forced down the private route. She was basically told that it was "one of those things". Personally, I think two similar patients with identical follicle counts and AMH levels can respond very differently to the stimming drugs. I'm not sure on my AMH level and I did no down-regging for my IVF last year but ended up using much less Menopur than you (150 initially reduced to 125 and then reduced to 75). Unfortunately much of the process is trial and error.

Yay to the better behaved follie Kuma, hope it continues throughout the weekend.

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 16:07

Well I've spoken with the nurse, I can't even get my follow up appt till some time in May so god knows when I can get next round of treatment in.

Medically they said to have this bleed and then one normal period before starting any treatment again.

She said that I can go abroad for two rounds of treatment before my next NHS go without it affecting my right to treatment so that's good, I just need my numbers to come in on the euromillions tonight!

I asked about the endo scratch - I would have to have that done privately in addition to an NHS round as they don't offer it.

They can't offer any explanation to the low crop of eggs.

I am going to have a really good drink tonight that's for sure Wine. I still have to do the test on Monday so that it ticks their boxes - think I'll buy a cheapy one rather than wasting another clear blue.

Thanks for everything ladies - I guess I've got a few months of TTC without any help so I'll give it a go - no medical reason why it shouldn't work. Might be a good idea to drop some pounds too, I'm afraid I've been eating like a spoiled child the lastmonth two weeks!

Good luck to all waiting for scans/start meds/follicles/2ww
Phe xx

Pipbin · 20/03/2015 18:12

Sorry to hear that Phe.
I don't recall the length of time to wait between cycles but I know that I had all three of mine with 18 months.

tigerdog · 20/03/2015 18:16

sorry to hear your news phe we're all here for you Flowers. I'm not sure why responses can be so different. your protocol sounds a lot like the one I'll be following. I'm trying not to get too anxious aboout the lack of monitoring or the fact that treatment has to fit around the clinic times rather than the best time for each step.

kuma excellent news on the follie, will keep those pom poms going for the next phase.

beaky any progress on the house?

I'm shattered after an early start. Less than a week to go until stabbing. What side effects did people experience from buserelin?

WildflowerMarmalade · 20/03/2015 19:11

It's pretty poor that they have nothing to offer you in terms of an explanation Phe. Even if they don't actually know what happened they should be able to offer some thoughts and some strategies. Maybe I'm being harsh, that sort of analysis is what follow up consultant appointments are for.

I found this link Phe and thought it was interesting. There is some good info in the comment bit too. I hope it helps a bit.

You will be hanging around here while you try naturally and plan your next moves, won't you? You don't have to obviously, but it's nice having you around. Enjoy the wine. Wine Wine Wine Phe and thought it was I interesting. There is some good info in the comment bit too. I hope it helps a bit.

HampshireBlues · 20/03/2015 20:03

Sorry to hear your news Phe and that the clinic don't have any answers. Having said that I have a good AMH and had a good crop first time round then not so good this time hence why our consultant has suggested switching this time to a short protocol.

Kuma that's amazing news will keep pom poems going over the weekend.

So still no AF for me (so bored of that) but I did get a letter today about my bloods and not sure what to make.... I have a slight raise in Protein S antigen levels and carry the MTHFR gene so need to have my homocysteine leves checked. Whatever the outcome it looks like cycle 3 is going to costly - aspirin, dalteparin, high dose folic acid and high dose Vit B. Called the clinic foR a chat and had to leave a message but they didn't call back so will need to wait until Monday. My FC consultant has suggested seeing a Haematologist and I am working with her on a project so wondering if it would be really unprofessional to seek her advice? Anyone else come across these tests / results?

happylass · 20/03/2015 20:31

Great news Kuma! Still shaking those pom poms for further follie growth!
Phe I'm so very sorry it didn't work out this time. Sending huge Berry hugs. Look after yourself Flowers. I really can't believe you were told that you can have 2 private cycles without it affecting your entitlement when I was told just last week that that would reduce our entitlement to 1 cycle. I really don't think that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing. Doesn't instil much confidence. I meant to ask the consultant why we had so few eggs compared to follies last cycle (11 from 20 which I know is still a good number but it was a much worse ratio than cycle 1) but I completely forgot. Wild's link makes perfect sense. I do wonder if they let me stimm too long due to being fully booked for EC. Think my largest follie was 22mm on the Friday before EC on the Weds Hmm
Barking hope you're hanging in there with the stabbing. Not long to go now.
HB your results sound complicated and I can't offer any insight but I'm glad you're getting some answers and hope you can get a clearer picture on Monday.
Hope everyone else is doing ok. Happy weekend Berries.

phe I'm so sorry it seems it hadn't worked this time. Enjoy your Wine and tak it easy on yourself this weekend. I've had this page bookmarked for aeons (haven't even had any IVF yet, how much of a pessimist am I?!?). might contain some useful stuff for you to quiz your FC on.

Yay for kuma, that's great news! Go follie go!

I've been out drinking tequila this eve. Forgot there is a reason I avoid that cursed spirit - looking forward to being home in my bed!

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 21:47

Thanks wildflower I'll most certainly be hanging about - you're all awesome and I couldn't have made it through the last 72 hours without you all! Thanks for the link, I feel so much calmer from reading it- or that could be the wine xx
