I'm just going to ask and hope for a reply. Okay it's a bit long, I'm still breastfeeding my 2.8 year old and recently (monday) I got a positive pregnancy. Should I be asking the doctor about my progesterone levels? It was a bit of a panic because I had alot of bleeding so had a scan which just shows the sac but too early for a heartbeat yet, I've had blood tests and the hcg level is rising as it should but I never told the doctor or any of the nurses I'm still feeding my daughter, should I have? Does it make a difference?

Thankyou pear

peardrop2 · 06/03/2015 20:59

Hi tony - congrats on your BFP. Always nice to hear that some women can continue to bf and get pregnant! I'm confused why you're worried. It's fine to breastfeed whilst being pregnant. Lots of women bleed whilst being pregnant...I have a friend who bled up until 7 months and she's just had a healthy boy.

Thankyou pear at the start of it all a miscarriage was mentioned to me and now I'm a bit paranoid and I've been googling ( stupid thing to do I know) and it says that when you breastfeed progesterone levels can be low and you need it to have a successful pregnancy and it can result in a miscarriage.

peardrop2 · 06/03/2015 21:10

Toby - how often do you bf? If I was you I would call your midwife on Monday morning and ask her for advice on the matter just to put your mind at rest. If they've seen a sac then that is positive right? And your bloods are good? Do you have another scan booked?

Some useful info here. I think the gist is its fine! Congratulations btw!

peardrop2 · 06/03/2015 21:15

Toby - I know it's so hard to worry. With dc1 I had chronic constipation which one doctor thought was an ectopic pregnancy and resulted in me having to stay in hospital for one night which was v traumatic but it was just chronic constipation and everything was fine. I think as miscarriage is common in 1 in 4 women they take any matter seriously which is great but it also puts the fear of the worst in your head! Unless the bleeding gets worse I would try and relax this weekend (maybe do something to take your mind off it) and call your midwife to ask about bf on Monday morning.

So hard not to worry!

Yeah the nurse said I'm not out of the woods yet( because of my mega bleed) until they've scanned me again on the 19th but it looks good. It was a bit of a strange one because I got my positive a day after my, or what I thought was my period (mega bleed) . Thanks for the link, I will have a look at that.

tobytoes · 06/03/2015 21:31

Thanks pear didt read your last post until I posted mine. I think as it's been such a strange way it all happened it's made me really scared. I had a full blown period, but the nurse said it may have been a heavy implantation. I am really scared. I started another thread a couple of days ago about it all and was stressing about the scan then the blood results and I've got good news but now I've found something else to worry about. Your right pear I need to relax and stop thinking about it.

tobytoes · 06/03/2015 21:33

By the way, I breastfeed my littlen to sleep then 3-4 times at night, and nap time after lunch.

auroraboringalis · 07/03/2015 05:48

Hoi. 6dpo and yesterday AF arrived. I am not amused. Very sad.

ispyfispi · 07/03/2015 06:42

:(
Hopefully each month your cycle is getting closer to normal at least?

peardrop2 · 07/03/2015 07:07

Oh aurora Hmm I'm so so sorry Hmm It's a horrible, gut wrenching in fact! Ispy is right though, it looks like your cycles are shortening. How long was cycle 1? I know you were confused whether this was cycle 1 or 2. My first cycle was 39 days and my shortest cycle has been 30 days (with my last cycle 34). Have you had any thoughts to whether you might drop the night feed?

Ava - how are you doing?

OP posts:
Giddymamma · 07/03/2015 07:12

Aw rubbish aurora. Hope this is just things settling down for you. And that they settle down fricking quickly.

My second line has faded away with no peak. Presume that means no egg for me this month. Garg. Don't want to stop feeding yet.

Toby, good luck with bfp. Hope all is okay.

tobytoes · 07/03/2015 07:33

Thank you giddy and pear for the messages.x

auroraboringalis · 07/03/2015 08:07

Thanks v much guys. Flowers
Cycle 0/1 was no AF at start but caught first postpartum ovulation on opks. LP four/five days depending on how many days post lh surge I ovulated. So this has been cycle 1/2 and ff estimated ovulation post-lh surge and made yesterday 6dpo. So an increase of one day lp for practicality's sake. Total cycle 30 days but ovulation only on cd25 Hmm. So much for b6 rescuing me.
And I'm crampy too. Angry

Mumof1sofar · 07/03/2015 08:25

Toby congrats on the bfp & hope everything is ok. I agree that it would be good to speak to your midwife to put your mind at rest.

Aurora sorry the witch got you Hmm

Well cd13 here for me so planning to dtd today & tomorrow...

tobytoes · 07/03/2015 09:16

Thanks mumof1sofar

peardrop2 · 07/03/2015 09:45

Mumofone - woop woop Wink I've got to crank up my mojo tonight...finding this cycle particularly hard...weirdly that's exactly how I felt with DS on my 4th cycle of serious TTC. Such a lightweight lol Grin

OP posts:
Mumof1sofar · 07/03/2015 11:21

It's funny how it takes so much more effort these days to actually find time to dtd in the first place, pear! We both need to crank up our mojo lol Smile I actually think I may have some ewcm today so fx it's the right time & I am ovulating.

Mumof1sofar · 07/03/2015 20:01

How's everyone's day been? I actually managed to dtd so I'm feeling happy. Grin
