That must've been awful, Pear Sad

Mary, I know it's so scary. We are lucky to have a Dr in the family who is an expert in Child Development and FAS so I have the piece of mind that DD is excelling and I was/am silly to beat myself up over such a small amount of alcohol at 1 week pg. She has just assured me again that yes, an expert would know by now. I think I'm just over tired... Confused Wink

MarysPrayer · 04/03/2015 22:06

ava you sound very healthy indeed and you shouldn't worry so much! Flowers

Mumof1sofar · 04/03/2015 22:07

Thanks Mary, I'll watch it tomorrow. I'm not a big drinker either as I'm bf-ing, but I will have a couple of glasses of wine if out. Did it say anything about drinking in the v v early days, as I have several friends who have got drunk without knowing they were pg, then only finding out afterwards (similar to you, Ava but they probably drank quite a bit more).

Pear, sorry to hear you had to go through g. diabetes- that sounds horrible for you.

I ate so much when I was pg & put on something like 3 1/2 stone! Dd weighed 8 lbs 2 so not huge. I developed a craving for things like pasta & ate LOADS of carbs. Still not managed to lose all the baby weight. My joints also feel a lot weaker since my pregnancy which is not goodConfused

MarysPrayer · 04/03/2015 22:17

Just watched 'childbirth: all or nothing' on iplayer. Feeling sooo broody now.

ispyfispi · 04/03/2015 22:34

Mary, my good intention is to remember to take the Pregnacare! I started off so well but it's very hit and miss now....

peardrop2 · 04/03/2015 22:39

Ah thanks Ava. Kind of my fault though for stuffing myself with Terry's Orange balls in the first trimester Blush

Morning ladies! Cd12 for me and the CbFM is showing low fertility as I would expect (considering I didn't OV until well into the 20's last month). I'm really glad I made the decision not to buy IC OPks as I feel a lot calmer just putting my trust in the CBFm this month. With a week to go until I reach OV point my goal is to now just stay as calm as possible on the matter Smile How is everyone else doing?

Mumof1sofar · 05/03/2015 09:30

Morning all! Cd11 for me today. No idea when I'm ovulating though as not temping/doing sticks. This month the plan is just to dtd every other day & see what happens. I'm not expecting it to work though as only cycle 1. Next month I might try the sticks.

Pear have you always had long cycles? I was on the pill for years & when I first came off my cycles were all over the place!

Mumof1sofar · 05/03/2015 09:31

Ispy I'm still taking pregnacare breastfeeding but in addition to that I'm now taking folic acid as well. Hopefully then all bases are covered! Smile

auroraboringalis · 05/03/2015 09:51

IMO there is so much to stress or worry about you gotta choose your battles. If you can stay away from alcohol do it. If you like a glass once a week do it. "May do damage" is an awful thing to think about. If your DC only gets a C in maths at gcse is it because you had a glass of wine or is it because he just isn't inclined that way or is it because he was lazy before the exam? Omg now what if he is lazy because it was due to that glass of wine you had? Maybe if you didn't have the wine he'd have been a never-lazy boy? Endless spiraling. If another sperm got to the egg your DC wouldn't have been him at all and been a completely different DC who may have been equally lazy or rubbish at maths regardless of the glass of wine you had!
Be kind to yourselves .

Mumof1sofar · 05/03/2015 10:46

A friend of mine drank throughout both her pregnancies. Not a lot but apparently you can have up to 125ml a day of wine or something similar?? She has 2 healthy children. I didn't touch a drop once I knew I was pg but while trying I still enjoyed the odd couple of glasses. All this talk about possible damage is freaking me out. I must watch that programme!

Duchess007 · 05/03/2015 10:53

Morning everyone

CD9 here, but with no idea of cycle length/ovulation days we DTD last night and plan to do so every other day for the next 20 days or so. Going to MIL's for the weekend, so that's thrown a slight spanner in the works though!

I've always had really varying cycles. Last time I was TTC I monitored cycles of 29 days, 34 days and 42 days! When I was younger I actually thought long cycles were great, as less AF to deal with/be inconvenienced by. Oh how I'm regretting ever thinking that now! So, DH and I will basically be DTD until AF appears (or a BFP of course! Grin).

I've not been drinking at all while bf so at least I don't have to think about it this time round. I definitely had a drink while pregnant (and not knowing it) last time round though. I try not to worry about it as there is nothing I can do about it now, but it's very easy to torture yourself about these kinds of things. Sad

peardrop2 · 05/03/2015 14:15

Mumof1 - no I didn't have long cycles before dc1. They were 28 days and I was ovulating around the 14th day so I was pretty textbook. Now my average length is 34 days. Could be longer.

I think everyone will always have different opinions about drinking through pregnancy. Similar to having an opinion about formula or breastfed. IMO once you know you're pregnant drinking is just irresponsible, sorry I know that comment is bold! Wink

Pear, how funny they have got longer since having your dc. I'm going to wait & see what mine are like.

I watched that alcohol programme - scary. I'm definitely not touching a drop of alcohol again in this pregnancy. I can't remember who was worrying about having had a few drinks before finding out they were pg but I spoke to a friend of mine who is a gp & she said that at that stage in pg the baby is still relying on the yolk sac and it's only when the baby starts feeding from the placenta that it can be dangerous because it is only then that there is a connection between the mum's & baby's blood for alcohol to cross over.

AvaAmulet · 05/03/2015 17:14

Hi Mumo, that was me, I was one week pregnant and it was three relatively low alcohol drinks to toast throughout the day at a family wedding. The Dr in our family has had to reassure me countless times advised the same thing as you, thank you Flowers x

AvaAmulet · 05/03/2015 17:29

Haven't long returned from a lovely (late) lunch out with my mam, DD, sis and baba. It was lovely to be out properly with the baby for the first time (she's only 5 weeks) and my sister could relax for a while with two fairly experienced-with-babies ladies with her for hands on support Wink she also Breastfed at the table with a feeding cover, as there were no feeding facilities at the restaurant, ahh, I'm so proud Grin

I was doing some online shopping last night for some bits for DD and I subconsciously put a maternity top that was in the sale in my basket! Hmm I promptly deleted the item, as I can't justify the purchase on my part time salary, but it was odd considering I've been ttc again for 18 months and never looked at new maternity clothes...just wishful thinking though I think x

Ava that's lovely about your sister ?? Ooh maybe you putting a mat top in your basket is a sign.... When is your bfp due again?

Hope everyone is having a nice evening Smile

YokoUhOh · 05/03/2015 21:06

Hi ladies, I've popped onto this thread once or twice before but could do with some advice.

3 years since my last period (DS is 2.4 and still feeds at night). This week, my breasts have been really sore when feeding him and I've been having dizzy spells. I did a test 2 days ago (negative) and I wondered, should I just keep testing? I can't think of another explanation and I haven't got a clue when AF would be due. Thanks!

Mumof1sofar · 05/03/2015 22:34

Hi Yoko, I would keep testing as it sounds like possible pregnancy symptoms to me. Good luck Smile

Giddymamma · 05/03/2015 22:39

Fingers crossed yoko!

I have just given ds a dream feed - hoping he will feed less through the night....

night ladies!

Giddymamma · 06/03/2015 05:58

Morning everyone! He only woke up at half five! Whoop whoop! I was awake all night waiting for him to wake up though..... Grin longest he's slept in five months, will be trying that again.

peardrop2 · 06/03/2015 07:08

Giddy - I remember that feeling well...getting used to actually having sleep Wink

Good luck Yoko Smile

Ooooh pear, can you imagine regularly getting three hours of uninterrupted sleep?! If nothing else I could start taking my basal temperature accurately!!
