KnitFastDieWarm - alcohol is probably OK until implantation, which happens roughly on 6dpo or 7 dpo, though sometimes earlier.

After that stop. If you count the first day of pregnancy as your period, then week four and five (which are the first weeks post implanatation) are when the baby's brain and nervous system is forming. You don't want anything to go wrong with that.

I hate that all the articles in the press don't explain exactly why alcohol is a problem in the first trimester. It's because that's the period when all the crucial organs are being formed. After that the baby is just gaining size. Google fetal development and you should find a timeline which shows when eat bit of the baby is formed. The most important bits, the brain and the spine, form very soon after implantation.

Sparkly123 · 11/02/2015 19:03

Purds you really are supermum to nancy. And a colourful past builds character! Just don't tell nancy that Wink

Ferning- I remember when I started looking at these forums.. There were tonnes of ladies with microscopes! I couldn't believe how many were doing it!

Sparkly123 · 11/02/2015 19:05

MrsGinger great news about extended LP!!!

Sparkly123 · 11/02/2015 19:06

Constant lower back ache here..

I hate not knowing when my AFBFP is due!

RoseBud2015 · 11/02/2015 19:06

Hi all!

Wow this bus really is speeding along..... I'm struggling to keep up!

Sparkly your chart is looking mighty fine! I think I might have chart envy Envy. I've started charting this cycle and mine looks like a mountain range in comparison to your gradual incline!

Victoria Flowers Flowers Flowers So sorry things are so hard for you. Just wanted to say that I've been there (for 4 years with a previous partner) and it's one of the most frustrating and upsetting things ever! I think the main thing that I learn't is no matter how much effort you put in to making things better; ultimately things will only improve if you BOTH want to- I left my ex-dp after 4 years of nonsense because I realised he wasn't prepared to change. I hope you manage to work out what is the right thing for you soon Flowers

MrsG Yay for the minimum 11 lp! Fingers crossed it is actually even longer! Smile

I had my ultrasound and dildo cam today- They confirmed I have "classic poly-cystic ovary syndrome with no signs of ovulation"- Doc wants me to do blood tests every week until AF to see if there are any signs of ov at all....... problem is that's EIGHT blood tests for me based on my last 2 cycles Shock Hmm Ouch!

My arms are going to look like I'm a heroin addict by the end of this cycle! Grin

Nomio230 · 11/02/2015 19:14

Ouch Rosebud. You have my sympathy. I hate blood tests with a passion.

Sparkly Things are looking very good!

Sparkly123 · 11/02/2015 19:22

Oh rosebud hi!!! Ok so this although expected is good to know for sure for progress right? And the fact the bloods will Also help to accurately evaluate things is also steps forward.. I don't know much about treatment etc for the condition but I know people who have successfully had babies with it so I'm hoping this is giving you some positive thoughts that things are now moving forward and you are closer to your BFP!!! Re the blood tests- I used to be a total wimp when it came to bloods. But now- I've had so so many I'm a total pro. Various nurses comment on it- one told my husband I deserved a special present as it took none punctures around my arm to get blood out.. But honestly doesn't phase me now and by the second bloods you will feel the same I'm sure!!.. Look away and picture that BFP!!!

Thanks got the positivity girls but for some reason I'm not feeling it today! Unlike me but I think it's the lack of symptoms! So much for having a chilled out TWW this time! Ha ha..
Off to google "I got my BFP straight away after early miscarriage"

eskimolaura · 11/02/2015 19:34

Just had a LOT of catching up to do; I can't get on MN at work, so have to wait until I get in and have had dinner etc. etc. before I can settle down for a read.

MrsGinger yay for the lengthened lp :)

Sparkly I know sweet fa about charts and how to read them, but from what others are saying, it's all good yes?!!

Rosebud that's rubbish. I hate all needles except my acupuncture ones, which I really like in a weird sadomasochistic way because I find them really relaxing.

Victoria Sending hugs. It really has all been said, but I will echo everything and speak from some experience as I was with my ex partner for 9 years and the last 2-3 he was an alcoholic and suffered from depression. For a lot of that time, I was in denial and refused to believe it, but it culminated in one awful summer when he wrote off his car, cut his own hair because he didn't want to leave the house, and also had a huge alcohol related seizure in the departure lounge of an airport. He refused to accept that he had a problem, despite me begging him to get help and I realised that I couldn't spend any more time hoping and wishing that he'd get better. I was 30 at the time and it was the summer of 2012. I am now 32 (and 8 months) and I'm happily married to the love of my life, who I met on Match.com. I didn't hang around for long once I'd made the decision; I got straight on it! You can change your life and be happier than you ever thought possible Flowers

victoria401 · 11/02/2015 19:36

Evening all!

spinning! My folks were like that, never talked to me about anything. All my mum ever said was "if you find a spot of blood in your knickers one day, come and tell me". A "spot" my arse! My mum told me never to do drugs/have sex/drink. My dad came into my room after a few himself and said that he tried weed when he was a lad and slept with loads of women and if I was going to do these things, be careful! Lol!!

Got much less spotting today and cramps are lighter. Still only cd24 though! Question... Those who complain of short lp's.... Do you count the day of ov until u start spotting or until you start af proper? I don't know after all this time if I have a lp issue. I count my lp up to af and its usually 14 days. Great! But I sometimes spot up to 5 days before.... What counts? Help?!

eskimolaura · 11/02/2015 19:38

Didn't realise it would post a link! I'm not on commission or anything, I promise!

Purplecuddlykoala14 · 11/02/2015 19:39

victoria hope you find the happiness you deserve. In the mean time here are some cuddly Koalas.

Rolling rolling rolling, the February bus is still rolling!
surferchic41212 · 11/02/2015 19:40

Cannot believe I missed one day and we're onto a new bus already [gets on slyly].

Victoria.. I really feel for you. I had an ex who was addicted to computer games and it took me 5 years to actually get out, and although it was like chopping off my own arm, I was so relieved, because he wasn't going to change. He had promised so many times, but wouldn't get help.. I really hope he listens to sense and gets help..! Flowers

On the plus side I went on to meet my husb, who is just very chilled and easy, but couldn't give a stuff about gaming, thank goodness.

Sparkly, I think we may have similar cycles.. I am currently (by ff) 3 days late, or by Pink Pad due today, and no sign of AF. I took an internet test today and BFN, but I'm not even sure when I (or even if I did) ovulated.. So I have no idea where I am! Used OPKs and never got an obvious positive.. but feeling pretty positive either way..

Currently watching 'Top Gear' and eating crisps.. very chilled.

Rainy34 · 11/02/2015 19:42

MrsG hooray for B6, glad it worked

australopithecus · 11/02/2015 19:44

Yay ginger
Flowers rose
There should be an "what an ace chart" icon I can offer to spark
Started the march bfp dtd-athon tonight. Already knackered. Hmm

australopithecus · 11/02/2015 19:46

ginger meant to ask if you were bf? Can't remember? I read that b6 can inhibit milk production?

Giddymamma · 11/02/2015 19:49

Hello all, my basal temp thermometer has arrived! So I will start taking my temperature in five years time, assuming by that time ds will have allowed me to have a good night's sleep tomoorrow morning. Am I right that it's after 4.30am, after three hours' sleep, same time every day or thereabouts and before any wriggling commences? Second question, I have a choice of how I take my temperature.... Rectum-nally or orally...... I'm going for oral I think.

MissMrsMummy · 11/02/2015 19:51

So pleased to hear about your lengthened LP mrsg! Well done.

How were the procedures rosebud? Sorry to hear about all the blood tests you need.

victoria I only count the first day of proper bleeding/full flow as cd1. I ignore the spotting. Otherwise my LP would be hideously short (maybe it is!)

MrsGingerbread · 11/02/2015 19:55

Hi austral - no, I am ttc#1 so I have no idea about the milk side of things. :)

My neighbour has just brought around my mahoosive box of tricks for the clearblue trial. Luckily it is on a plain box. Phew!

Rose I'm not sure how you feel about your appointment? I hope that knowledge is good and helpful for you.

MissMrsMummy · 11/02/2015 19:56

giddy yay! Yes, same time every day after 3 hours' solid sleep.

Apparently vag temping is more accurate (as oral can be affected by sleeping with mouth open etc) but I've always stuck to mouth!

Giddymamma · 11/02/2015 19:59

Ha ha misses, I'll stick with you thank you very much. :) thanks for the tip about soft cups aswell, I did wonder what benefit the mooncup was giving me, what with it hanging around all the way down the bottom there...

australopithecus · 11/02/2015 20:00

Thanks ginger I so lose track of details! :)
giddy excellent. Jealous. I'm just sticking dc's thermometer into my ear. Hoping it'll do.

spinningirl10 · 11/02/2015 20:06

Giddy, most of us take it orally Grin

Rosebud, woah that's a lot of blood tests but it's great that they're being so thorough. Knowledge is power and once you know what you're facing they can treat you accordingly.

Sparkly, don't feel down. I'm making us cocunut and cacao bites tomorrow now I must go and check out your chart!

Oh and mrsG, yay for longer lp Grin

Giddymamma · 11/02/2015 20:07

Lovely austral, Think someone else mentioned this earlier, five pounds on amazon. Thought it was worth a go as I have no clue if ovulating....

purdeybirdie · 11/02/2015 20:11

Spinning, Mummy and Nomio, thanks for saying nice things about me being a mum Smile

Austral, now I get your drift! Are you levvered yet? If I weren't a recovering alkie I'd've lain down in a bath of neat vodka and supped until my teething tot stopped whining like a Flymo. It has been a really stressful night.

I liked your post, Blueberry Smile

I liked 'car parked', Glittery! sorry AF is imminent Thanks

Still catching up...

RoseBud2015 · 11/02/2015 20:14

Sparkly You can't be positive everyday! Today we will all be positive for you Wink Yes I'm definitely happy with the progress, and quick progress at that. Just awaiting DH's sperm analysis results now! But I'm pretty sure he is fine- 2 DDs both conceived first time with his ex bitch Grin But that was 10 years ago so who knows.

Eskimo Yeah I'm not too bad with needles usually...... but may develop an unreasonable fear in the next couple of months Wink. Gotta say I love acupuncture needles too

Oh and snap with the online dating success- met DH on Plenty of Fish and since then half of our friends have done the same and each have married or are now engaged! How times have changed!

Miss The procedures were fine. Dildo cam was just a bit uncomfortable (mainly because I had a 50 year old woman's face inches from my foo!) I was a bit crampy afterwards but otherwise in and out Hmm in less than 10 minutes.

MrsG I did get a bit upset in the car on the way back to work. It made me feel like a massive failure as a woman; but I was expecting the result I got, and I am relieved that things are moving forward quickly. It's just hard to know that your body isn't doing it's job properly.

Is anyone else going to see 50 shades this weekend?......... will you all manhandle me off the bus if I admit that I'm more than a little bit excited to see it!?
