SO is basically assisted ovulation - DR S doesn't use clomid as he doesn't like the side effects so uses a drug calked letrazole instead. The likelihood if multiple births is very small on SO.

I've been doing SO since seeing dr S - he usually says round 4-6 are the months when it is most likely to happen, and if it doesn't happen in 6 months then it is unlikely to happen for you on SO. I fell pregnant on round 5 but had a miscarriage. I'm now back on it and hoping we are successful again.

It's quite a bit if effort (and money) as you have to go for a scan, you get told when to DTD and then you have to do an injection to trigger ovulation. However I like the certainty it gives me that I know I have egg(eggs) each month and the day I'm ovulating. I asked dr s if there was anything I could do to speed it up as was nearly a year without a pregnancy when I saw him and he suggested SO. I also think it would be worth doing before ivf - but I'm no expert!

Thanks for the explanation sunnyday01. Sorry about your mc :( Fingerscrossed for you next cycle. I agree that it must be reassuring to know eggs are there waiting!

Lilliesandchocolate · 08/03/2015 18:55

Hi lilliesandchocolate, love the username! Thanks for the info. What were your test results? And wow congratulations on your pregnancy! Very inspiring :)

Lilliesandchocolate · 08/03/2015 21:22

Hi drttc, thanks, I was inspired by what was then on the kitchen table! If you've been lurking for a very long time then you'll recognise previous user names hopefulfor2nd and hopefulfor3rd.
My levels from my last test were 238 and 1.19 aggressive, I was on high treatment. I had several tests done but only NKC came back as an issue. This was in end of 2011 and I fell pregnant on first attempt and it worked brilliantly. I was tested again last year on wanting to try for a third child and my levels had gone up to 341 and 1.26 aggressive which puts me in complex high treatment. Not sure how high 341 is within that level, I must ask on my next appt. I was very nervous about going up the levels and now needing intripalids but having had one lot I can say it's really simple, just a slight cold sensation. It did leave a bruise on my arm, never had one from giving blood.
I believe that intipalids have been introduced to all/most levels now? Thought I was told that, could be wrong! Don't even know how many levels there is!

Drttc · 08/03/2015 21:49

Lilliesandchocolate, yes I remember your previous names :)! Glad to see you're doing so well!

Interesting about the intralipids possibly being given to everyone now. If I get a bfp next cycle the soonest I'd be able to get to London for intralipids would be at 4 wks + 6 days... Ah waiting for these results has be fixated on TTC!!

sunnyday01 · 09/03/2015 06:20

When is your appt drttc?

OP posts:
Drttc · 09/03/2015 16:16

Hi Sunny,

My appointment is on Monday the 16th! Getting a bit nervous... Don't like the unknown!

How are things with you? Are you in tww?

sunnyday01 · 09/03/2015 19:24

Not long to wait now - I was really nervous too and convinced myself that they would find nothing so when I was told I had high nk cells I was really upset, I couldn't take all the info in and cried nearly all the way home!

I ovulated yesterday/today so in full swing of DTD at the mo - lol no secrets on here! Started my steroids today too. Will be testing next Thursday!

OP posts:
Drttc · 09/03/2015 20:04

Awww no! Hope you're feeling better about the results now.

Eeek! How exciting! Wow next Thursday sounds so close! Definitely going to be living through you for the next couple of weeks :-D

Tryingno1 · 09/03/2015 20:57

Sunny I was the same! I was totally confused! Oh enjoy urself! I hope u catch this month! I have a feeling u will!

sunnyday01 · 09/03/2015 22:17

You say that every month trying!! I'm not holding out for this month - would be nice to happen so quickly but I don't think the odds are in my favour!

I feel much better about the results now - even though I've had a mc in the treatment - I know gears wring and feel I'm doing as much as possible to resolve it! You have to test after 10 days in steroids but it seems to take firever!

OP posts:
Tryingno1 · 09/03/2015 22:26

I know! Tell me about things taking forever!
I do say that don't I! I got to be right one month! Hmm

Drttc · 10/03/2015 22:02

Hey ladies! Just wishing everyone good luck with wherever they are in their journey :) Just lurking as no news here... Will have results Monday evening I hope!

Tryingno1 · 11/03/2015 13:02

Good luck with ur results! Let us know! Hope ur feeling ok about it
I'm just on af so nothing to report!

Lilliesandchocolate · 11/03/2015 17:21

Hey ladies, how is everyone? I remember going to get my results, so desperate for Mr S to have the answer. Don't know what would've happened if my results were ok. Remember sending my best friend a text after saying thank god, there's an answer and we've a plan!
Have been referred to my local EPAU tomorrow, due to my history and that I wiped some "colour" 48hrs ago. Back to normal since. Worrying but trying not too. If there's a problem would rather find out at home than 5hrs away. Sounds awful, doesn't it?, I'm afraid it's how I try to protect myself.

Drttc · 11/03/2015 19:20

Thanks trying!

Lilliesandchocolate, sorry to hear you're worried. I'm sure you know it can be completely normal! With our histories we naturally want to protect ourselves though. There's no right or wrong reaction, you're entitled to every up and down emotion you feel on this journey. I'll have my fingers crossed for you to be told you can relax!

As for me, I had a tiny bit if colour when I wiped today as well... I'm worried it could be implantation bleeding! I'm not on treatment yet (was told to wait until my results). We had DTD 7 days before ovulation so surely it's not possible?! I know it MIGHT be but so unlikely. I don't want to have another miscarriage for being an idiot and getting pregnant without treatment :( Really worried. I'm 8 dpo now so too early to test sigh

Hula2 · 11/03/2015 20:10

Lillies, sorry for the worry, fingers crossed you get the reassurance you need tomorrow. Good that it s stopped so far. How far along you are now ?

Drttc - don t panic, many immune docs dont start meds till bfp anyway so i d just test at 10dpo and if u get a bfp then ring Louise straight away and they ll prob already have the results and get u started on meds straight away if need be. I think Hope didn t start pred till bfp.

Lilliesandchocolate · 11/03/2015 20:21

Only 6.5 weeks, this last fort nights felt a lifetime. Will keep you informed!
And yes, don't panic drttc, I echo Hula completely. Get a first response test ready for 10dpo.
Xx

Drttc · 11/03/2015 20:55

Thank Hula & liliesandchoclate... I'll try to stay rational. Do either of you have experience of spotting on 8dpo?

Will be thinking of you tomorrow lilieandchocolate!

Lilliesandchocolate · 11/03/2015 23:19

No experience I'm afraid drttc, the only time I ever had implantation bleed was with my very first pregnancy. I was on honeymoon. No idea on what day of my cycle - the days of just having sex!-it was but it was literally a pinpricks worth of blood that I saw in my underwear. If I hadn't had on white pants I wouldn't have known about it.

Lilliesandchocolate · 11/03/2015 23:19

And thankyou for your thoughts! X

Hula2 · 12/03/2015 13:10

I ve not had spotting at that point either.
Lillies good luck today. x

Tryingno1 · 12/03/2015 17:53

Hi girls.

Lillies I'm sorry u had some spotting. It's natural to go into panic mode but ur on tx, it worked for u before and bleddin in preg can mean nothing! When is ur scan? I hope ur doing ok...

Drtcc-don't worry if it is a bfp u can start treatment ASAP! Mr s is one of the few consultants who does pre bfp pred anyway so don't worry. U might not even need it! I did have implantation bleed with preg 2...it was just on my pants like a smear (tmi sorry!). Are u gonna test tmrw?

I'm ok, just finishing af. Saw a friend yest who had ivf and I confided in her about my trouble was nice to talk To someone in rl who has had difficulties although very different ones. She has a lovely baby now so worked out for her :)
