I wondered the same purd - I find sex really uncomfortable in the days after AF so this research makes me feel a bit better...we can start DTD a bit closer to ov thanks for sharing that!

Also interesting about the lube... Is conceive plus ok??? I have always needed it up to now but hoping that EPO will make me sex-ready AF any moment

Thanks Sparkly, think we'll try that. I'm quite sure that we stop too soon. The month I got my bfp we were on holiday, I wasn't temping or doing opks or even keeping track of sex so can't look back at chart or anything.

Good to know about the realistic survival timescale of sperm!

Was just having a nosey back through my phone calendar to see if I was wise enough to record my sexual encounters when ttc#2..
Thankfully I was.. We had sex on cd 8, 10, 12 & 13, with a smiley cb on cd10.. Nice reminding myself that it doesn't have to be every day, just often enough!

Feel like this post is all about me, but I know fook all about progesterone & luteal phases so I'm no use to anybody on that front.. Love that purdey is so knowledgable around this subject :)

purdey yes my LP is 11 days (used to be 9 this time last year so at least it's improved and I'm starting b complex now) and I typically start spotting at 8/9 dpo but I have had some horrendous cycles where it started at 3dpo and continued on and off until AF.

I think something is wrong as occasionally I have bled after sex as well. Makes me feel a bit sick to think about it but I have booked the GP so I will find out soon enough.

Ps I have been told I prob have endo as well but haven't had the camera

Miss I used conceive plus its made especially to help with conception and helped me as clomid dries you up!

Sparkly, that spotting is not normal and signals the womb lining falling away six days before your period. This is perilous to a developing embryo. All you can do is visit the GP. You need progesterone x

Pikz, thanks for that, it is really interesting to note that they do not consider the day of ovulation itself to be the optimal time for having sex. For example, I told the calculator that my last negative opk was 10am this morning and my first positive was 8pm tonight. It calculated the optimal times for making love were yesterday, today and tomorrow, despite advising me that ov could in actual fact happen as late as Tuesday 3rd

I can't believe the amount of people on here that are complaining about spotting before af, this must be a common problem and yet the doctors disregard it , I have been doing some research about progesterone and time and time again b vitamins are coming up, one website says that you should see a difference taking the b complex vitamins in the second cycle, I have been to Holland and barret to re stock in my b complex vitamins I am taking the busy b vitamin b complex with added vitamin c , I will kick progesterone ass, and I will get pregnant , iv been feeling really down about it but I truly believe that this can help , I was taking a low dose of b complex in December and noticed that I did not suffer with feeling sick before af was due . I will keep everyone posted in how the spotting goes this month and next and if it does not work il be going to doctor to get blood tests, these doctors need to sit up and pay attention

Aw, winter, you are kind to say that, but I am worried I am coming across as an alarmist with all this talk of perilous spotting and deficient prog. I can only give you ladies the benefit of years on TTC forums and IVF chat rooms and speaking with gynaes, consultants, miscarriage specialists and embryologists. GPs are largely useless. You must insist they listen regarding spotting and short luteal phases. It could mean the difference between having a baby this year..or way, way down the line. Get it nipped in the bud now.

Purdey everyone loves your advice and like you say you have had so much experiences from all different sources!! Re my spotting- it's more of a discharge and the gp said that my progesterone levels on day 21 are sufficient.(28.6 and 32.8) However I am app at fertility clinic to get this spotting discussed on 17 feb.. Which Is after this cycle. So if I was to be successful this cycle with any luck and got a BFP around 15th Feb then I'm worried that with the spotting I'll have the same experience I've just had!!! Ahhh. I hope not. (Obviously im being super positive here in the hope I can get a BFP this month... May as well stay focused!!!) would my charts show any pattern that would indicate the spotting being an issue??

You really don't realise how many obstacles there are to conceiving, and then to get through a pregnancy is just a bloody miracle..
I did not appreciate how easy my first conception/pregnancy was.. Difficulties like this give you a whole new perspective..

Also, I'd just like to say that the idea of sperm swimming around my reproductive area makes me feel a little weird.. Ha

purdey GP and gynae 'diagnosed' 10 years ago due to painful intercourse and heavy periods

I had a bfn this morning and today ive it felt sick but I still don't have any AF symptoms. Felt sick past 4 days with strong smells and odd taste. Due on today. If it was morning sikness would feel normal sometimes and then get it again?xx
