Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Thank you ladies, scan is tomar, but I am eight weeks today!! Which is the furthest I've got, touching wood!

Have a good Monday everyone! As good as Monday's get I guess.

clairemorgan81 · 27/04/2015 07:26

great that your 8 weeks indie eek it's exciting x

girliesaints · 27/04/2015 07:40

Indie, what time is your scan tomorrow? I'm also in for my 5 wks meds appointment x

Indiedog · 27/04/2015 07:51

Hi girlie, I'm in at 11, was going to be earlier, but A said she has someone in before. Guessing that's you maybe Grin

Marchgirl · 27/04/2015 09:23

Good luck for scan tomorrow indie, and for the appt girlie
I'm going to stay the opk tomorrow. Nervous about stepping back onto the merry go round

Marchgirl · 27/04/2015 10:11

start, not stay

girliesaints · 27/04/2015 12:50

March I was the same about ttc again. The only comfort I had was that I had lots of support around me from the trial team and of course on here. I was rubbish at all the testing, so in some ways I'm surprised that I got a bfp!

Indie, indeed I'm in before at 9.30 tomorrow. Will then to dash home to store next meds before dashing to work. Are you being scanned in CF? It looks very swishy and nice to be away from bad memories I have of the epu department.

clairemorgan81 · 27/04/2015 15:17

what CD are you March? I'm starting tomorrow as well x

Indiedog · 27/04/2015 15:51

Scanned up on G level Girlie, the private place. It is a lot nicer to be away from it all, but later the general scans are in the normal place, but again at least it's not EPU.
Good luck with your appt.
I have the day off, as it's easier to swap a day at work than going in a hour or so, leave for as long as it takes, then go back!

Good luck with the OPKS next round everyone. Hoping for lots of smilie faces.

Phillippa, how are you doing? Have you decided when to start OPKing?? Hope your feeling a bit more chilled about it this time, but that's easier said than done!!

Xx

Marchgirl · 27/04/2015 17:09

I'm cd11 today claire. The ridiculously complicated calculation tool says to start wed, but i thought I'd start a day early given that I'm still having acu to bring forward ov. I expect to ov between Friday and Monday. When are you starting Philippa?

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 17:35

HI

Sorry to add on to the end of this but I've just been reading all your posts and I'm wondering what the cracking is with this Response trial? How you get on it etc?

I've had three mcs in the last 12 months - Last may (mmc at 12wks - development stopped at 6.5), last October (mmc at 6
10 Weeks - didn't develop past 6) and a natural miscarriage January 2nd at 5.5.

After wairing 11.5 weeks for an appointment we've just been at the recurrent miscarriage clinic today where they've basically taken blood and said 'see you in 12wks to discuss the results!'. If I fall pregnant again before them - and we have started ttc again this cycle we're on our own. No extra scans support etc!!!

I'm impatient and wondering if this trial would be a possible route! Especiallyrics seeing choccywokkydoodahs success story!

clairemorgan81 · 27/04/2015 17:48

what's acu March? I'm the same meant to start on Wed but going to start tomorrow! I'm only CD8 today. philippa you must be around same time as us I'm sure? I expect to ovulate anytime between Sun and wed but last month wasn't when I expected so who knows x

clairemorgan81 · 27/04/2015 17:51

where abouts are you kazz? So sorry for your losses. I'm sure only certain hospitals are taking part in the trial so depending where you are depends if you get offered it....terribly unfair I know. my miscarriages were very similar to yours and same months Sad x

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 18:07

Apologies for the terrible spellings! New phone!!!

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 18:18

What stage are you upto this time if you don't mind me asking?

We've been referred to St Marys in Manchester. It's been a bit of a mare so far as we were supposed to be seen three weeks ago... but turned up to find our appointment had been cancelled a month before without notifying us!

There was a sign about a trial of something called NT100 but didn't think to ask!

(Out of interest - what does dd and do stand for? Keep seeing it and can't work out the abbreviations!)

Marchgirl · 27/04/2015 18:29

Sorry claire, i meant acupuncture. I was just being lazy not writing the whole long word!

Welcome kazz. Sounds like it might be a possibility for you. Main criteria are age 37 or less and had 3 mc with at least two confirmed with scan (i think). If you look up the response trial online then you should find a list of them, but there are other centres that aren't on the list (like Edinburgh). I presume that you'd be able to go to whichever one is closest if you were prepared to travel, even if it wasn't your own hospital.
You get a pack with ovulation kits and hpt at your sign up appointment and get bloods taken to make sure you have no underlying causes that would rule you out. when you get a positive pregnancy test you go in and are randomised at that point. It's a daily injection from then until 12 weeks, with scans at 6, 8 and 12 weeks (plus 10 wks in some places), and other blood tests throughout.
They are pausing recruitment shortly, from what we hear, so I'd get in there quick if you're interested. Where abouts are you?

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 18:30

Marchgirl · 27/04/2015 18:33

Dd is dear daughter, ds is dear son and dh is dear husband. This might help Smile

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 18:35

Hi March girl. I'm in Manchester..do you think it will matter that I'm now under a consultant at St Marys?

We have been ttc this month so just in the two week waiting period. I assume if I get caught this cycle we wouldn't be able to do it?

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 18:43

That link to the acronyms is fantastic! Thank you so much!!! All much clearer now!

clairemorgan81 · 27/04/2015 19:03

Ahh I see March...I get it now!! good luck with your testing this month Smile

kazz Im not as clued up as other ladies about trial (tbh I'm thinking my consultant isn't great as I've found out much more off the other ladies on here than off her her when I signed up) I would have thought you will be able to join as long as you can travel like March says.....Good luck this month .
I've been on trial since Feb and still ttc x

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 19:39

I've just filled in the details online. Turns out the sign that was right I'm front of me at the hospital today is the same one being talked about on here!!!

Not sure why they didn't offer me it today but hey hI - they may say no but I'm trying to be proactive and stay positive! Will do whatever it takes to get a happy result!!!

girliesaints · 27/04/2015 20:03

Welcome Kazz and sorry for your losses. I too had lots of delays with my referrals and didn't get an info about the trial from my consultant despite it being in the same hospital! Have to say it's the best decision I made calling the trial team as you are looked after.

Philippa/ March/ Claire- lots ???? coming your way lovely ladies. Looking forward to hearing about lots of ?? and hopefully ? results.

Indie- ooh g level scanning sounds lovely. I'll try and make sure my appointment is on time and they're ready for you at 11am!

Size/ Choccy- how are the 12+ graduates doing?

Indiedog · 27/04/2015 20:03

Good luck Kazz, you can only but try. You have to have your bloods taken, and various test run to make sure you are suitable. At least if you can go through this process you will have covered the trial as an option. They have age, BMI, medical history and all their blood test as criteria, but it's pretty straight forward.

Good luck with all the OPK starting in the next few days, lots of smilies soon. ??????

Got my scan tomar, and hubby is coming with me this time, hopefully, if he can make it. I will let you know how we get on.
Xx

Marchgirl · 27/04/2015 20:06

I'd get in touch with them kazz. Or do they contact you if you fill in that form? I found that my rmc consultant didn't even know about the trial (even though it was running from the same hospital), as it was being run from the epu rather than gynae dept and they don't seem to talk to each other. Ridiculous.
