Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Thanks ... If I'm honest Im not very hopeful ! I seem to catch on the first month which is a sign of high fertility which isn't good :(

clairemorgan81 · 22/04/2015 08:06

try and stay positive honey it must have been implantation bleed on Sat as that would tie in with positive test. I know it's difficult though xx

LouiseM1987 · 22/04/2015 08:09

Thanks Claire I've consulted doctor Google and mine was too bright and new and there was a small clot so I don't know... I've already phoned the nurses waiting for a call back ?xx

clairemorgan81 · 22/04/2015 08:15

I've my fingers crossed for you Louise I really hope this is your time xx

girliesaints · 22/04/2015 12:07

Fingers crossed Louise (whispering congrats in meantime) Have the same concerns as I seem to fall first month of ttc. Feel today more normal after two days of feeling rubbish which makes me think it's already over ??

girliesaints · 22/04/2015 12:07

Choccy, have fab time in Dublin x

Marchgirl · 22/04/2015 12:24

Congrats louise, definitely a line. Bleeding happens for all sorts of reasons so try not to worry (impossible i know!) if you've got a positive now that you didn't have on Saturday then hcg is increasing, so that's a good sign

girlie, you're really early for any symptoms so i wouldn't take it as a bad sign. Even something like sleeping better last night could make you feel much better without being anything sinister

choccy, have fun in Dublin. Shame you won't be able to enjoy the boozing, but it's a great city

LouiseM1987 · 22/04/2015 14:27

Thanks girlie, we are both in this at the same time. I can normally always tell when I'm pregnant before because my dreams a week before my period are SO strange but other then that I only have sore boobs (not yet tho) I never have anything else :( so i always symptom spot to no joy.

Thanks March youve helped loads as you said the bleeding was before my positive ! THANK YOU !

I'm booked in for 9am tomorrow there's apprently going to be a big corporate man from America coming tomorrow ! X

sizethree · 22/04/2015 15:40

louise that's great news.
It's my last injection tonight and it will your first tomorrow. What a relay team we are!

Ah thanks size... If it means following in your foot steps with how well you have got on with the trial im all for it x

girliesaints · 22/04/2015 16:17

Fab Louise, we'll be going through this at the same time. Good luck with tomorrow's appointment. Take a book as there was quite a lot of waiting around between activities. I was there for over three hours.

In terms of symptom spotting, always a nightmare as can give you reassurance or worry. Know 4 weeks is early but again this time I've had an inkling cause my tummy was bloated and had metallic taste in mouth. Today I've had it less but my manager (who is in the know) said I was pasty this morning, so I'll take it as a sign.

philippa88 · 22/04/2015 17:15

Congrats Louise and what a lovely scan photo choccy!!
Had a few days off here as I've been super busy but I'm back! I'm now on cycle day 5 - not sure when to start opks though based on weird last cycle! Any ideas?
Trying to stay positive for this cycle but it's so hard, so many people in my friends group are pregnant right now and it's really hard trying to not feel left out! I want to be in baby club! (That isn't aimed at any of you by the way! Your pregnancies are all making me hopeful!!)

How is everyone then? It's nice to hear the first response baby has been born :) xx

clairemorgan81 · 22/04/2015 17:41

philippa I'm on CD3 I Start testing on day 10 as my cycles are a bit all over. you should just start as early as possible can't do any harm. I'm feeling similar so many people are pregnant at the moment I'm finding it difficult as its hard having no one in same situation but I'm trying not to let it get me down......easier said though x

Marchgirl · 22/04/2015 18:07

I'm cd6 and going to start the official tests on cd13, but might do some ic from cd10 because I'm still having acupuncture and she's working on reducing my cycles back to what it should be, so could end up ov earlier than usual. All three of us will be roughly the same time then, claire and philippa Smile. Let's hope we all get bfp this month. That would be nice

Choccywoccydodah · 22/04/2015 21:09

Just nipping on quick as I'm ready to sleep! So tired!!

Louise I had bright reddy pink on 7-9dpo, turned out to be implantation. If already had a + at 6dpo so feared the worst. Keep thinking positive thoughts.

Night night xxx

girliesaints · 23/04/2015 06:38

Claire, March & Philippa, I'll be routing for you and sending positive vibes your way x

Up most of the night in a panic as had slept on my tummy, which I hadn't been able to do for last few nights and with last MC was the first sign things weren't going well. Woken up this morning feeling properly rough as had done since Sunday with the exception of yesterday! Know in my head I need to stop panicking and there is nothing I can do BUT it's easy said than done. Normally I'm a very level- headed person honest...think it's going to a long two weeks to first scan (and hopefully it'd I get to that stage, each two weeks after)

sizethree · 23/04/2015 14:07

louise how did it go?
How's everyone else?
Pleased to report my 12 week scan went well.
Ivd opted out of the blood test screening and NT measurements, but the so or graphed said IT looked nice and thin anyway and there's functioning bladder and digestive tract and heartbeat at good rate, do I can finally stop feeling so flippin anxious and try to stay focussed that this may actually turn out yo be a real live baby!
Such a journey. I'm going to feel a big sad tonight when it's my first injection free evening.

Size, sorry forgot to wish you good luck before you scan. Glad to hear it went went & I'm sure you won't miss the injections too much x

Marchgirl · 23/04/2015 17:11

Great news that your scan went well size. So pleased this one is working out for you. Do you feel like it's the drug that's made the difference or are you thinking you're placebo?

clairemorgan81 · 23/04/2015 17:12

fantastic news size. you can finally relax and announce your news. so pleased for you xx

sizethree · 23/04/2015 17:34

I still have no idea if I had the drug or the placebo. I thought I'd have an instinct either way, but genuinely no idea.
I think the big difference was having the extra support and scans, so although I was terrified, there were digestible milestones that were reachable rather than being left to my own devices and being expected to sail through the 12 weeks without turning into a crazy person.
My experience of pregnancy had been so sad and awful previously, that having such a good care structure this time has made it a lot more bearable.
You're in great hands ladies.
Oh and my trial nurse said something interesting today about the recruitment for the trial, that shortly they are freezing the applications to allow the women already recruited but who haven't yet fallen pregnant to relax a bit and not get over taken by new recruits. As they are aware that if they keep signing up newbies and they fall pregnany quickly then it's awfully unfair in the ladies that need a bit more time to catch. Which I think is brilliant. The last thing you need in this situation is it feeling like a blinking race! So the trial places will always be given priority to those recruited first, regardless of the date they manage to conceive.

clairemorgan81 · 23/04/2015 18:09

sounds like the support side of things is a massive help size. whether you had drug or placebo its worked and that's all that matters. as for then freezing recruits, what difference does this make to ladies who haven't conceived yet? Sorry I'm dont understand x

sizethree · 23/04/2015 18:16

claire the concern was that they need 150 women for the trial. They have a good number enrolled. But randomisation only happens when they fall pregnant. So in theory although you could enrol first, and take a while to fall pregnant, you could miss your place on the trial to a women who enrolled after you, yet falls pregnant before you. So they have realised this is very unfair and will be freezing recruitment shortly to enable those already enrolled the chance to fall pregnant without being superseded by a newer recruit being randomised first.
Does that make sense? Not sure I explained it any more clearly...

OP posts:
girliesaints · 23/04/2015 18:37

That's interesting Size. Sounds like they need 150 taking either of the drugs rather than just recruited and ttc, which wasn't what I thought. I know I've seen it a lot on social media sites, so I'm not surprised.

Claire- sounds like you're ok as long as you fall within the 9 months. I've got positive thoughts about you this month ??

Right I've had a good talk to myself and need to get some positive into this bfp. My trial nurse made a suggestion when I was randomised that I keep a diary so I can track what's happening. It can then either be used to look back on to remember how good this journey was or if things go wrong help track when things started to go not so good, as all mine have either been delayed or missed MC. Bought myself a shiny new diary for the occasion. I do love good stationary!??

Indiedog · 23/04/2015 18:41

That does make sense size how you've explained it.

In my logic, and what I thought was the case - they keep adding women on to the trial until 150 women are reached, across UK and US this is.

Then they give each woman nine months to fall pregnant.
If you fall pregnant you get randomised, and that is 1 tick on their 150.
If you don't fall pregnant in nine months you leave the trial. So if 1 women leaves the trial for what ever reason, they can then add 1 on to the trial.

Surely that would be the most logical way of running it.
I can understand why they have a time limit, as they might have woman that take a long time to conceive, and they need to finish it at some point.

But surely they just can't keep adding women willy nilly above the numbers they need, as you said, that wouldn't be fair on women that joined earlier and have not conceived yet, but are still in the time frame.

Does that makes sense , or have I got the wrong end of the stick.
