Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Sending big hugs meems

Hello March ????

Indiedog · 20/04/2015 07:03

How are you girlie? When do you have to go in?

Happy Monday!!! Hmm
I'm back to work today, thankfully not been feeling so sick the last couple days! I want to try and keep pregnancy from work mates for a little longer if I can. Trying not to get ahead of myself. Sevens weeks today!

Take care all x

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 07:39

I'm waiting to find out if I'll go in today or tomorrow. Wish I knew either way as work an hour away from home so may get to work and need to turn round again. Kept testing over the weekend and tests have been getting darker, which must be a good sign and starting to feel a bit icky in the morning, so hopefully it's happening and not just my body playing tricks!

Indiedog · 20/04/2015 07:48

Great, that's all good signs.
Hope you find out soon. I think someone is normally in by half nine, so you could always give them a ring and chase them up!

Keep us posted. It's quite a long first appt, I was in at half nine, and left at half one!!! You have to give yourself the first injection, and then sit around for an hour, so they can observe and then take your stats again. Fun, fun, fun.

Choccywoccydodah · 20/04/2015 08:55

Morning ladies, sorry I've been underground, I've been feeling rotten and weak. Hopefully coming out the end of it now!

Have caught up. Welcome March! I hope you get the results you hope for with your nk. We're under prof quenby/Brosens too, they're a fab bunch in Coventry. The Response Trial MWs are second to none and have been a massive support. We didn't go for NK testing even though we're offered it mid last year.

Meems, I'm speechless sweetheart. I am totally and utterly devastated for you :'( Life is such a cruel bitch, then it slaps you in the face even more! What do you think you will do now?

Claire, so sorry af is on it's way :(

Girlie, wow! Congratulations!!!! Are you ready for your next part of the journey? :)

Philippa, so glad the witch has FINALLY shown her face, but am so sorry about the confusing time you've had recently! Such a head fuck all this ttc malarkey!

Size? How're you feeling about your scan thursday and coming off the jabs?

Indie how are you feeling?

Sorry if I've missed anyone!

All good here, dating scan tomorrow afternoon, then Dublin Wednesday-Friday. Where has april gone????

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 10:28

Choccy, naughty mini-choc making you ill, but then again I'm sure you wouldn't have it any other way.

Going in for 12pm to get things moving. Feeling excited/ nervous...

Choccywoccydodah · 20/04/2015 11:40

Oooo good luck girlie!

Turns out what I've had isn't preg related at all! Have had an awful tickly cough since Tuesday too which had totally drained me, and won't shift. Honey and lemon just isn't cutting it!

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 13:43

So I'm definitely bfp and been randomised. Currently awaiting my prescription before first injection.... Bit scared as its becoming real.

Choccy, bet being pregnant hasn't helped the lurgy you've had. Hope you're over the worst x

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 15:12

Had first injection and back home with week's supply. All very straight forward and nothing to worry about x

Choccywoccydodah · 20/04/2015 16:10

Eeek girlie, Yey to the start of your incredible journey :)

Indiedog · 20/04/2015 16:50

Well done girlie, your on the wagon now! Who did you see, A or J?
It is pretty straight forward really.

I'm still not over my lurgy that I've had for the whole of the Easter holidays!
Feeling nauseous is coming and going now, rather than constant!
This is my first week without an appt, got my eight week scan next week.

What have you given as your due date Girlie? Mine is 7th Dec. x

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 16:59

Indie, saw J but will ordinarily see A but she was on annual leave today. Ddd is 28th Dec- will be interesting if we get that far. I'm the third randomised lady at Princess Ann so far. They also know we have this group on here and were interested to hear I found it supportive.

Only tricky thing I'm going to work out is taking the injections to work each day and storing in the fridge in a non suspicious manner. Bought shinny new lunchbox to go undercover with...

Got massive headache. Not sure if stress coming out of last few days, pregnancy symptom or a side effect from the drug- who knows!

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 17:00

Indie, sure next week will be fine x

LouiseM1987 · 20/04/2015 17:32

Ooooh how exciting girlie!
Not sure if anyone else has experienced it but I had a bleed on Saturday it was bright red with a little clot it was enough for me to use a pad but wasn't full ! I've had nothing since ! I'm due my period on Friday but I'm so confused the trial nurses were just as confused too ! But told me to carry on testing like it didn't happen and see if I get either a positive or my period else I have to use saturdays hour bleed as my period ! Soooo confused and upset

Indiedog · 20/04/2015 18:34

Glad it all went ok girlie. I see a mix of both A and J, just depends who's about.

Luckily I can nip home and do my injection on my lunch break! I wouldn't want to have to try and explain anything at work!!
Good luck with your new 'lunchbox'.

Maybe the headache is a combination of stress etc, and heat. Make sure your drinking water now, I keep having to remind myself. I'm terrible for not drinking during the day, I can go a work day without having a drink all day, until about 4pm.

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 20:08

Louise, what a nightmare. Hope it sorts itself out soon x

sizethree · 20/04/2015 20:21

Girlie can you take your injection after work?
I did my first injection in the morning. But you have a 4 hour window to take them daily. So the following day I too it mid afternoon then the day after I took it at 6pm. Abd I've stuck to 6pm ever since.
Theres a couple of communal grudges at my work but people are nosey so my injections would have caused a bit of drama no doubt.

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 20:35

Size, I'm confused. I was told there was only an hour's gap either side (i'e three hour window) as I took my first injection at 2pm and I'm not home until nearer 7pm, so thought I was stuck at early afternoon.

Indiedog · 20/04/2015 21:03

I thought it was only about an hour ish give or take a bit. They did say you could gradually move it, so take it a little earlier or later depending on when you want to move it too. Ring and double check, we have obviously been told all something a little different.

sizethree · 20/04/2015 21:13

heres a photo of the instructions on the reverse of the chart you fill out to document. It says take it at approximately the same time each day, within 20-28 hours. So that's an even bigger window than I first thought.
Hope that helps.
I found it best to fit in with my usual routine at home so I dudbt stress about injections at work and keeping the sharps bin there etc.

Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

girliesaints · 20/04/2015 21:25

Thanks Size. Think I'm going to drop an email to the team tonight and see what they say. Either way I'll be using my lunchbox tomorrow. I'll let you what they say x

sizethree · 20/04/2015 21:45

Good plan Girlie.
I remember the 2nd injection I had to do in the loos at work at pop the needle back in tupperware after.
It felt a bit like I was some sort drug addict needing my hit!
Now my routine is firmly sofa based. And only 3 to go. I'm going to miss them.
There's something tl really comforting when you reach injection time each day.

Good luck Choccy with your dating scan today. How exciting. Enjoy your getaway too. A well deserved break I guess.

Choccy and size, can I ask, do the injections stop at the end of the 11th week, or end of 12th? Just trying to work out when it would be and when we could potentially go away to visit the inlaws Grin, hopefully to give them some good news!!

Xx

Choccywoccydodah · 21/04/2015 07:47

Indie they stop when you're 12 weeks :) Ive been off mine a week today. Does feel strange not doing them everyday bit it was another milestone.
And like size says you can do them 4 hours either side of the last one not an hour. Christ I would have fucked up a LOT had it been an hour!!
Can you take yours before you go to work, or like size said when you get home? Just keep moving the times til you get to a suitable time.

Scan not til 3.15, am actually rather nervous about this one if I'm honest. This is the whole measuring one for the nuchal fold etc and blood test for nuchal. Hope all is ok.

Indiedog · 21/04/2015 08:04

Thanks choccy. I can have a good look at dates to go away, yipee.

I'm not surprised your nervous, it's only natural to be.
You've got a long day ahead, I much prefer when appointments are first thing!

I have asked to have the screening scan etc, as with my first DD she was high risk of downs! It was a terrifying time, ended up having the amino to find out for certain. Thankfully she was ok.
Either way, we still would like to know if there are any risk factors etc.

I'm sure everything will be fine, and either way some results still end up with nothing wrong what so ever, and I am proof. The scan showed high measurements, my bloods showed high risk, and then the amino, the only way of knowing for sure was fine. Talk about keeping me on the edge.

You must have a nice little collection of scan pics now. I can't wait for mine to start looking like a little person, rather than my little bean.
Try to relax and enjoy your day, and keep us posted on the scan. It will be lovely. Xx
