Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Ah, Choccy, I can't add much to what the other ladies have said, as to that things can change over time, and they are giving you the best care they can. Try to put that to the back of your mind, plan what you would like, but also have a back. Things can change.

Morning ladies.. How's everyone doing?? I'm going stir crazy.. Still no period and on cd44 now :/ have any of you experienced this? Testing daily and nothing so I know I'm out pg wise. Just feeling so down about it now :( never had this before and am worried sick something's wrong. Plus it means more time in achieving that bfp, at a total loss of what to do :( x

girliesaints · 11/04/2015 10:59

Hi Philippa, total empathise with you although I've not had experience myself of such a long cycle. Mine has been all over the place since the last MC. Is it your first cycle since or if it isn't so you normally have long cycles? Know on the recurrent miscarriage thread there have been some ladies that have experienced one off long cycles for no random reason. Fingers crossed it appears soon.

Totally going up the wall with 2ww. Not normally like this and rationally I know I'm not going to get a bfp on first attempt however my head keeps dreaming. Have a lovely day planned as dd is going for sleepover at grandparents and I've got pedicure, football match and dinner with friends planned today., which should help distract me.

clairemorgan81 · 11/04/2015 12:12

I wonder if you spoke to your miscarriage consultant or trial midwife philippa? They might be able to reassure you or something,? it's strange that your periods have been normal since last miscarriage now this....it must be so frustrating for you. I really hope it shows up soon x

girliesaints · 12/04/2015 06:59

Completed my first pregnancy test and it's a bfn, as I was expecting. Can I ask those ladies that are pregnant, what day in your cycle dos you test as positive? I'm intrigued as I've never tested this early (normally a few days after a missed period)

sizethree · 12/04/2015 07:12

Hi girlie. I know Choccy got an impressively super duper early BFP, I'm sure she will fill you in on the precise DPO.
I got a real squinter 11 DPO and a positive in front of the trial nurse on 12 DPO and the trial drug/placebo dished out then.
Top tip is to save and store some FMU when you get your positive as you'll also have to get a positive infront of the trial nurse. And if your appointment isn't til later in the day, then it will be harder to prove.
I texted my trial nurse with a photo of the squinter positive test and she made an appointment for the next morning.
The pregnancy tests get supply have that ridiculously annoying reflective window, so I'd broken into a couple to see more closely and also used a couple of Internet cheapie ones to be sure.
Very much hoping your BFP is lurking round the corner!

Any luck with AF turning up phillipa? I really feel for her. It's such extremes with AF. Either we are desperate for her to show up or desperate for her to stay away. It's so very hard to trust your body at all after miscarriages.
I very much hope it's a simple explanation like an anovulary cycle or a randomly long one. If it is anovulary then hopefully you'll pop out 2 eggs next time and have twins. Yay!

Thanks size and you sort of confirmed that dpo7 is really early to get a bfp and it's much more likely to happen nearer AF date.

Just tried explaining to Mr Girlie as he was more disappointed than me!

Hope AF turns up soon Philippa.

Waves to everyone else x

clairemorgan81 · 12/04/2015 07:33

bfn here too but like you say early days I guess

sizethree · 12/04/2015 07:34

It's very very early to expect one. But they are militant at getting you to test early because the drug is aimed to help with implantation. The earlier it's used, the more chance of it being effective us what my trial nurse says.
But you'll know reading these TTC boards it's really not uncommon for a BFP to show up much later, several days after a AF due. It's just so hard to pinpoint exactly what our bodies are doing.
It will no doubt be a long week for you! Sending lots of good positive HCG your way!

Girlie, still very early on. I got my BFP at 6dpo, but 4dp smiley face!! I didn't get a smiley til the tuesday, but I felt ov on the Sunday. BFP was on the saturday. The smiley was wrong in my case (proven on my scans). For the trial, they still go by smiley though which is most annoying!!
I was still getting squinters at 12dpo (the following friday) but they were coming up instantly.
I've always got early BFPs though throughout. I've had one at 5dpo once!! Everyone on my ttc bus couldn't eliev how early I got them lol :)
I'll attach pics, hang on....

Choccywoccydodah · 12/04/2015 08:49

Choccywoccydodah · 12/04/2015 08:50

Philippa, any sign this morning? Mega frustrating for you :(
Could you possibly go for a blood test? X

Indiedog · 12/04/2015 08:54

Hi Girlie and Claire, I got my BFP 10 days after my smilie. So smile on March 15th, very faint pos on the 25th, so faint I took it apart to see it. I went to work, and then when I got back I did another and it was a little darker so I rang the clinic, this was a Wed. My trail doctor made me an appointment for The friday. So I tested as normal on Thursday, twice in fact!!!

The Friday of my appt, I kept my morning wee to take with me. That was the scariest bit, sat waiting for a line to appear with her watching it, I had every thought of her saying 'nope, you must be imagining it'!!!!

Even after she had confirmed it, I still did a few more at home!!

I had a bit of browny discharge yesterday, which was a little worrying, but I've tried not to stress. Nothing else since though.
I've been really poorly for the last week, never felt a cold like it. So bad I've had to take paracetamol, as much as I've really not wanted too! Starting to feel a bit more human today.

Good luck with BFPs xx

clairemorgan81 · 12/04/2015 09:42

thanks for all your info ladies appreciate it. it really does vary quite a bit doesn't it, depending on the person so will keep my fingers crossed . how many months did you all try whilst on the trial? this is only my third month & I know I'm very lucky to be part of the trial but it's so emotionally tiring! It's the constant thinking about testing/ovulation or dtd.......I always did spend a lot of time thinking about these things but it's like ALL month now!! anyone else the same?
can I ask a question about dpo. I got a smiley last Saturday night and on Sunday (I know you should stop once you get a smiley but always test til I get a negative) would you count from Sat or Sunday? just the fertility app I'm using it goes from the sun?

clairemorgan81 · 12/04/2015 09:43

indiedog glad the brown has stopped off hope your okay and not worrying too much I'm sure all is fine x

Choccywoccydodah · 12/04/2015 09:51

Claire they all go from the day after you positive :) For the purpose of the trial though, my MWs go from the day of smiley, so confusing lol!
I caught first month on the trial, but we caught all the others every month we tried so I wasn't that surprised tbh.

Indie hope the spotting is ok, such a worrying time!! If you're at all concerned, call the team tomorrow, otherwise you'll drive yourself mad!

Indiedog · 12/04/2015 11:20

I haven't had any more spotting, thankfully!!
Got my six week scan Tuesday, so praying all will be ok.

I got signed on to the trail on the 5th March, Smilie on 15th, BFP on 25th! So very lucky to catch on the first month of the trial!

girliesaints · 12/04/2015 12:29

Thanks for the info on bfp. I know I need to develop some patience but it's hard.

Claire- I'm the same, constantly thinking about it, which I've never been like in the past, so I've put down to the impact of testing each day for the trial.

Indie, glad the spotting has stopped x

Choccy- 12wks already- wow!

Hope everyone is making the most of the lovely weather today x

clairemorgan81 · 12/04/2015 13:08

Oh & thanks for Sun its lovely here now Smile

philippa88 · 12/04/2015 19:22

Evening ladies, well STILL no sign of af. I've given up :( no cramps, nothing. Will try and ring the research nurse tmrw and see what she says. How annoying!! Hoping it's been an anovulatory cycle and next cycle will be normal - here's hoping for 2 eggs lol!

Clairemorgan - are you through the RVI? That's where I am...

Oh this ttc really does take it out of you. It's good to see success stories from you pregnant ladies though :)

Xx
