Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Arghhhh phillipa so frustrated for you.
Have you got some rollerblades and a leotard? Or a white horse to ride? May help induce the period as per 90s adverts!
Sorry, just trying to make you smile!
Have you ever tried acupuncture?
After my 2nd loss I went for a few sessions to help regulate my cycle and speed up conception. They can do all sorts of clearing stuff with channels. I'm not usually much of a believer in that sort of thing but it did help and made me feel a bit more in control. My city based fertility clinic has a few to choose from. Here in Edinburgh it was £30 per session.

Phillippa, I'm with size on the alternative therapies, as I said to you about reflexology too.

If you like having your feet massaged then if you find a registered practitioner, you can have specific areas targeted.

Similar to acupuncture I think, reflexology, it targets the certain nervous that run from that area in your feet to the area you want to target, reproductive areas etc.

Good luck in ringing the team, and good luck with the docs x

clairemorgan81 · 12/04/2015 20:05

Oh how annoying and frustrating for you philippa. I'm at wanseck hospital (ashington) although I had my ds at rvi. I was wanting to go to rvi but wansbeck is hospital nearer to me. let us know how you get on with ringing trial team

girliesaints · 12/04/2015 20:18

Size, I almost spat my drink out with the reference to the 90's!

Philippa, how frustrating but hopefully the trial nurse can provide some guidance x

clairemorgan81 · 13/04/2015 07:54

good luck this morning choccy for your scan x

Meemsmum · 13/04/2015 08:44

Good luck choccy!
Well, first day of testing for me this morning and I'm pretty sure I can see a very faint line...Shock I mean proper squinter but I think I can see something and so can DH. Those damn tests are so annoying with their reflective window though so I am doubting myself a bit. Will see what tomorrow brings! 7dpo just seems way too early and no real symptoms to speak of. X

clairemorgan81 · 13/04/2015 08:57

Indiedog · 13/04/2015 09:13

Feeling sick and a dog here! Been feeling I'll since yesterday afternoon and I've just been sick :( The smell of food is just awful (DH has just made a bacon sandwich and it is bloody disgusting and I feel sooooo ill!!! I've also got a headache :(
Scan at 1, got to get there for 12 though for bloods and they've got to do my booking bloods too.

Philippa so annoying for you sweetie, I hope you get an answer either way very soon x

Meemsmum · 13/04/2015 13:16

How do you break into these bad boys?! I'm at work just now so maybe I'll get my toolkit out when I get home lol Grin. Here is a pic I took in the toilets just now. What do you think??

Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

choccy totally empathise with the sickness. Struggling over here too. I thought it should've eased up for us both by now. But I do like a symptom as it's comforting.
Are you starting to show yet? And do you have that line appearing from your navel to pelvis? I just look a bit fatter. No bump. But boobs are still 2 cup sizes buffer so think things are still happening.

Becca2967 · 13/04/2015 14:02

Hi everyone I hope no one minds me being here I'm not on a medical trial but looking into what we could do or further tests privately if possible. I had a little boy no problem conceiving or staying pregnant he was born in 2008 we decided late 2009 to try for a sibling for him but we had a string of miscarriages in June and October 2010 and February 2011 we was 4 1/2 to 6weeks in. Tests reveled no cause I had one positive test for antiphsopliopd syndrome but to diagnose you need two positive tests so that was ruled Out when the second test eight weeks later was negative. We conceived a year later in February 2011 and my little rainbow sticked he was born 5weeks early and is absolutey perfect. So December 2014 we decide to try again baby three to complete our family I found out March we were pregnant but started spotting at 7+2 (so I thought) a scan shown my baby had passed away at 7+6 I started to loose my precious and wanted baby 9th April and right now it's at its worst in terms of physically and mentally. X

Becca2967 · 13/04/2015 14:08

Sorry that should say our son conceived February 2012 x

philippa88 · 13/04/2015 16:27

Thanks for listening me complain girls, I spoke to the trail nurse today who initially asked me to go in for a blood test, then realised that I would be 6+3 and said it would defo show on an hpt now. She said she was going to speak to the head of the department and would ring me back. Still waiting for her call...

To top it off, had an awful day at work and just want to cry!! Cannot understand why life has to be so cruel sometimes :(

Memes that is defo a line!! Congrats!! And brilliant news on your scan Choccy - it's crazy to think that's a tiny human in there. Chilling, swigging some fluid, having a wriggle!!
Xx

philippa88 · 13/04/2015 16:52

Update - just spoken to my research nurse and she's going to speak to the consultant tmrw. Luckily she's really nice and made me feel at ease. I was worried about being kicked off the trial or something but she assured me I wouldn't and that we still have 9 months to get pregnant. Feeling slightly relieved - hopefully it's just an anovulatory cycle and I should be back on track soon :) x

sizethree · 13/04/2015 18:30

Hi becca. Lovely you came over as I remever your post on another thread yesterday.
What a sad journey you've had to endure. I'm so sorry you had had to cope and are still coping with so much heartache. Miscarriages really are one of the cruelest and toughest experiences in life to endure. And this recent one is still so raw to be coping with, I hope you're feeling supported.
When my third miscarriage was diagnosed one of the nurses at my local EPU (I'm based up in Edinburgh) told me about this Response mescal trial.
All of us on this thread are at various stages in the trial.
I hope it won't upset as you're in the midst of a miscarriage now, but a few of us are currently pregnant and there's likely to be a few more BFP's on the horizon shortly. So please feel free to dip in and out if things are still a bit sure for you.
But there is a huge amount of hope here and please do reach out with any questions you have. For me this trial has been something that has helped ease a bit of the anxiety of pregnancy after miscarriage and I feel I have a great support network with the combination of the trial nurses, the ladies on this thread and real life friends and family.

choocy so glad things went well today and thanks for the photo. You're lovely and slim so I feel a bit better about not having any sign of a bump yet. I've got a bit more cushioning so thought that may mask a bump. But I'm glad it's normal to not be showing at all yet. I'm just very impatient to see signs that everything is ok.
How's your nausea now? Have you managed to stomach anything? I've been all about Jacobs crackers and ice cubes.
phillipa that's great news you're getting support from the trial team. You're in good hands.
meems how did you get on? When are you going in to get the drug/placebo?

so sorry for your losses and what you have been through becca. I had my most recent miscarriage in Dec and I'm currently ttc again. I. signed up for the response trial in Feb. all of us ladies try and support each other as best we can through such awful times.....I hope you are okay as I know it's all so raw for you at the moment... we're here though whenever you need us x big hugs x

clairemorgan81 · 13/04/2015 18:42

your scan is great choccy......size I wouldnt worry about showing much yet , I didn't show properly for quite a while yet with ds. even at 20 wks I wasn't very big, I was also desperate to show, it will come don't you worry. choccy your too slim I'm not your friend lol

philippa so pleased trial team are looking after you and have reassured you x

clairemorgan81 · 13/04/2015 18:52

girlie how you finding the testing? I'm finding it difficult if I'm honest....Ive just never testing this early before and I'm so much more disappointed than I thought I would be when its negative.

girliesaints · 13/04/2015 20:13

Sorry ladies, feel like I've been wail today. Busy day at work and couldn't post very discreetly!

Choccy- fab scan pic. Wouldn't worry about not showing. Based on how slim you are (yep I'm well jel) you probably won't show for a bit.

Size- think the sickness starts to ease off as you get past 12 wks. So not too long.

Becca, sorry for your losses. I would advocate speaking to your epu unit and make sure they refer you probably and flollow up if you don't hear anything in the promised timescales. I had a 6 month delay since the last MC due to referral issues. Although rare, I know of a few people who have had similar problems. Have you had a look at the recurrent miscarriage thread? There's lots of ladies on there with experiences of lots of different tests and treatments.

Claire, totally with you on the testing. In the past haven't tested until officially pasted AF date, so this is freaking me out a bit.

I'm also freaked out looking at everyone's positive test pics as I can't see the second line in any of them, so makes we wonder if I'm looking for the right thing. Is it just me? Normally use the digital test so have no experience of these tests.
