Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Indie, I'm in Hampshire too! Which hospital are you under? I'm Princess Ann in Southampton x

SarahLou1987 · 05/04/2015 11:35

Hi ladies
I hope you don't mind me joining, I've tried to read all the posts before however my memory is rubbish.
I've had three miscarriages and was told about the trial when I found out Id just suffered my third in feb. I'm in coventry so I am under the same people as choccy and they are just amazing. I've just finished my first period after and due to start the ovulation tests on Tuesday. I have no other children :(
I hope everyone is eating a lot of chocolate today xx

clairemorgan81 · 05/04/2015 12:22

welcome sarahlou x

clairemorgan81 · 05/04/2015 12:25

glad Smile has arrived for you girlie we are practically the same time. glad Mr girlie not too hungover x

Indiedog · 05/04/2015 13:01

girliesaints I'm at the Princess Ann too. Are you pregnant yet, because apparently it's just me and one other at the mo.

They have eight women on the trial.

Indiedog · 05/04/2015 13:23

Hi girliesaints I've just been reading back some of the post.

So your number 8' congratulations on getting signed!
It's like some exclusive club, that nobody really wants to be part of but are happy just to be getting some support!!!

I got signed on the 5th of March. You must have been a similar time.

I'm trying to work out from all the post who's pregnant on this thread and how far along?? Could someone fill me in please?

I'm finding the injections are ok, but I've nicked myself a couple times which has made a tiny bit of blood, and some bruising! But as others have said, it's a tiny needle, small amount of liquid, and really isn't that bad. Think I'm getting the hang of it.

Hope everyone gets their smilies soon. Xx

girliesaints · 05/04/2015 15:35

Hi Indie, indeed I am number 8, what number are you? I have a similar background with DH aged 4 and had no problems until trying for a sibling.

Haven't had great support until now, which is why the trial appealed to me.

Choccywoccydodah · 05/04/2015 15:59

Happy Easter all!!

Yey, 2 newbies and 2 Smile what a fab time to nip on WOOHOO!!!

Welcome indie and sarahlou!
Congratulations on your bfp indie!! I got mine at 3dp smiley but 6dp when I actually thought I ovd, so early like you :)

Sarah the ladies are amazing at Cov aren't they?? 'L' and 'D' are so excitable ha ha! They both came down to my scan last Monday with 'N' and 'Dr L' who was scanning, they were all so pleased, they're all a bit nutty lol! N, B and J on other trials are just absolutely lovely too :)
What number are you? I'm number 11, and 11 weeks today hurrah!!

I had 8 consecutive losses all around 5 weeks. After the last one on October I basically gave up until prof Quenby contacted me about the trial. So glad I signed up now!!

Get shagging Claire and girlie!! Get those Easter eggs fertilised!!!

Hope all good with you size :)

girliesaints · 05/04/2015 16:22

Hi Sarah, sorry forgot to say welcome to the thread x

LouiseM1987 · 05/04/2015 17:15

Sorry changed my user name hehe ! But my real name is Sarah :)

Yeah the ladies in coventry are lovely ! I'm not 100% sure I think possibly number 17. Hopefully get a positive this month just got to wait it out but very excited to be on the trial with all the support you seem to get with fortnightly scans. I had my first mmc in July at 11 weeks then a couple of days before Christmas at 5 weeks then mmc in feb at 10 weeks so hoping 4th Time lucky.

Oooh Im about a week behind those with :)s hopefully you get lucky this month !!

Thank you for letting me join. Xxx

Indiedog · 05/04/2015 20:10

Girliesaints I am number 6. Have you met both doctors A and J, both of them are lovely. J did the first pregnant lady, and A did me, she was sooo excited and it took from 9.30am to 1.30!!! Had a lot of waiting for the prescription, and then had to wait for an hour after the first injection. It was so funny passing the time!

So choccy, your 11weeks? That's fab.

I think it is good just to have the extra support.
Personally I'm just counting the days. My last MC was two days before Xmas, and I was 4 +3' and I am 5weeks tomar!! Keeping everything crossed. Hate to say it but I've been on tissue watch every time I weeHmm. Dread it.

Hope smilie faces arrive soon.
Here's to lots of Easter eggs. Xx

Meemsmum · 05/04/2015 20:21

Welcome Sarah and Indie Smile
I'm new on here too, signed up to the trial a fortnight about after 3 miscarriages, one before dd in 2011 and 2 after in October and December last year. I'm up in edinburgh. Been patiently taking ov tests for a week but nothing to report yet.
Hope everyone's had a lovely chocolate filled Easter! X

Choccywoccydodah · 05/04/2015 21:04

Indie sounds like me with the waiting around! I got there at 8.45am and left at 2.30pn waiting for the drugs etc! Such a long time but the ladies were so lovely I didn't mind :)
Do they date you from day after smiley? As they dated me from day of smiley which would make you 5 weeks today wouldn't it? :)
'Officially' for the purpose of the trial I'm 10+5 today, but from my scans and from when I know I actually ovd, I'm 11 weeks today x

Indiedog · 05/04/2015 21:24

Hi choccy, from the dates I gave them, they dated me as 5 weeks tomar, but I am happy to go along with any day if it sticks Grin.

I went to get more syringes last Monday, only a quick appointment, had bloods taken etc, done in about 20 mins, but ended up waiting another 45mins in the waiting room for the pharmacy to pull their finger out. I'm sure the women on reception thought I was a weirdo, because I don't check in with them, so she had no idea who I was, hehehe!

In again on Tuesday, as bank hol tomar, and I only have 1 syringe left.
I work in a pre school so I have two weeks off, and to be honest it's good timing because at least I can be at home and trying to stay calm about things.

How have you got on over the weeks?? Has it sunk in yet, do you still worry at all!
I'm just taking it day by day at the mo. Still early x

girliesaints · 05/04/2015 21:31

Indie I met both A & J and they were lovely. My signing up appointment was the same date as the first pregnancy and they were geniually so excited. Made me want to get and stay pregnant just for them!

Lots of choccy in our house as DH won a colouring competition at the local shop today, plus she got lots of eggs from family. Trying my best to forget them but I swear they are calling me name.

Choccywoccydodah · 06/04/2015 07:50

Ha ha indie, I know what you mean about the dates etc, as long as you're pregnant right? Wink
Re it sinking in, it has now, but once I have my 12 week scan next Monday and come off the drugs next Tuesday (which I am petrified about!) I think I will sink in more.
I've got my booking in appt with the MW this Friday so I've got my 'proper' 12 week scan either next week or by the following tuesday. We're going to Dublin the following weds-fri with some friends so scan has to be before then for the NT. I've already called the mw and asked about booking the scan and she said it'll be fine to book it at my apt friday.

Ha ha girlie with all the choc! Despite my best efforts to say to people not to get DS much choc and just get him a little toy or something, we have a bagful of chocolate! Tbf they didn't buy much choc, just one egg and a toy, its mainly our my fault as he likes kinder eggs and a local shop was selling them at 5 for £1!! Shock so I bought 20 and 20 for his preschool but they only needed 11.
Also some friends did an Easter egg hunt yesterday which was fun so he got a bag of sweets from there too!
I've done my best to avoid eating any, but he opened 5 kinder eggs without me knowing, didn't want the choc, just the toy so I had a little bit Wink

Meemsmum · 06/04/2015 18:01

Smiley smiley, yeah!!! SmileSmile

Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?
clairemorgan81 · 06/04/2015 18:21

brilliant meems Smile gosh me you and girlie are all around the same time this month x

sizethree · 06/04/2015 18:29

Goodness Claire, Girlieand Meems you are all smiles! It was a full moon last night which is great for fertility - I'm not really up on these things but a friend mentioned it so woohoo you three!
I've not managed any chocolate this Easter as still can't stomach sweet stuff. But have a stash for when my nausea subsides.
Back at work tiday and have s meeting tomorrow about reducing hours to three days a week to get me trough the first trimester or so.
Already suffering scanxiety for Thursday. Only 3 sleeps to go.

OP posts:
clairemorgan81 · 06/04/2015 19:11

hopefully work will agree about reducing hours.....how many weeks are you? ahh hope these next few days go by quickly for you. feeling nauseous is great sign x

Choccywoccydodah · 06/04/2015 19:19

Eek size exciting stuff. Will you look thursday? Only 2 1/2 weeks left of jabs!!! Hopefully all goes well for going part time.

Oooo meems, the race is on between you three then ha ha x

sizethree · 06/04/2015 19:26

ClaireI'll be 10 weeks in Thursday, so double figures!
Choccy not sure if I'll look yet. I'd definitely keep the screen off to start with but if everything is ok I may ask for a peek. Still feels like it is AGES AWAY. These are the longest weeks of my life.
Very much hoping we get a flurry of BFPs on this thread in the next 2 weeks. Exciting times!

OP posts:
clairemorgan81 · 06/04/2015 19:46

I feel the pressure already haha

10 weeks size goodness I pray all is okay for you and this is your time x

girliesaints · 06/04/2015 20:13

Lots of smileys all around and hopefully BFPs soon, although in truth I don't expect I'll fall in the first cycle as it's the first month ttc in 6 months, so body is a bit out of practise.

Size, hope work agrees to the hour reduction & you're back in to chocolate soon!

Choccy, wow almost 12 wks, yike! Almost graduated from the first phase of the trial x

The chocolate mountain has again grown in Girlie towers after visit to inlaws. I swear I can hear it talking to me from the kitchen (I will be strong- repeat multiple times..)

clairemorgan81 · 06/04/2015 20:31

choccy it's amazing that your almost at the point of no jabs! wonder why they stop then is it because placenta has taken over?
I bet it feels weird for you but chances of miscarriage does significantly reduce soon so that must feel great.
girlie I'm the same here we have so much chocolate and it is so tempting.
I'm at hospital tomorrow to see miscarriage/trial consultant for blood results I presume x
