Still here, still struggling on, still hoping to get there in the end. Come on ladies, we'll all get our BFPs in 2015 (if not before)!

Raluca, I was taking 2500mg per day too, and felt, fine, even good (sleeping better, more energy) for the first 3 weeks. The better sleep then tailed off and last week (week 5) I started to feel like there was pressure on my chest when I was in certain positions. I put it down to poor posture but I was just conscious of it all the time and sometimes conscious of my heart beat. It stopped for a couple of days when I started my period, then came back, but a bit worse. I haven't had any maca today and I feel a bit better, but will see how the next few days without it go. I was feeling a bit anxious with it too, which is also apparently a known side effect. I put it down to stress, but perhaps not.

My husband is taking it too and loves it, feels more positive and energetic, so at least the rest of the bottle won't go to waste! I'll still with the vitamins and evening primrose oil...

LittlePoot · 19/06/2015 22:46

I had been wondering if maca was worth a try for me, but you're not really selling it to me! I definitely don't need to be taking anything with anxiety as a possible side effect....

I am after taking myo inositol though. Metal - if you're about, where did you get yours from and what dose did you take? Dr Google seems to suggest 2-4g but I've only seen it in 0.5g tablets so that would be rather a lot to swallow. All advice gratefully received.

Metalhead · 19/06/2015 23:12

Hi little, I ordered mine from Amazon in powder form, I think it was a brand called Jarrow. On the tub it said to take 1/4 teaspoon a day, which would've been 600mg, but I took 1 full teaspoon, so approx. 2.4g a day. You can just mix it up in a bit of water or juice, it's got a slight sweet taste but other than that it's pretty neutral.

Thanks lovely! I shall get it ordered. I was just reading that one of its only side effects at that dose is slight weight loss so it's win-win in my book. Are you feeling fluttery kicks yet? Probably a couple more weeks to go for that. Was always my favourite part of being pregnant.

EmFlat · 20/06/2015 07:12

Yay Metal! So pleased for you :)

Thought I had pinkish IB last night before bed... it's only fucking AF instead, the b!tch.

Sigh :'(

BurningGubbins · 20/06/2015 07:32

I think I'm going to give the wonder-supplements a rest now, they only seem to be making things worse for me!

Oh no, Em.

RalucaMorena · 20/06/2015 08:35

I woke up with cramps and temp has gone down. I'm 5 dpo and can't wait for Monday morning to make a gp appointment

RalucaMorena · 20/06/2015 08:41

Burning maybe you need a lower dose of maca.... I'm only take 1500mg

Metalhead · 20/06/2015 11:37

Sadly no kicks yet little, I'm quite disappointed as I felt DD around 14 weeks and am now nearly 16, but have been told I have an anterior placenta this time.

raluca a temp dip at 5dpo doesn't mean you're out yet, unless you've got a really LP? Fx AF will stay away for you.

OP posts:
EmFlat · 20/06/2015 15:37

Oh well, Burning :( Am really emotional today though, don't normally get that with Flo... sigh, wish I was a man!!

RalucaMorena · 20/06/2015 21:35

No af as yet! Fc I have a normal lp. I'm not even thinking of bfp... I just hope my cycle stays in parameters!

BurningGubbins · 22/06/2015 06:30

Raluca, my capsules are 2500mg each, so I'd have to split them or get new ones. After my experience I'm not inclined to do either at the moment, but maybe after a couple of cycles without anything I'll come back to it at a lowerdose. This is all clutching at straws really as my tests showed that I'm fine.

VillageFete · 24/06/2015 10:07

Hi ladies,

well i'm due on in 3 days and the symptoms I usually get before a period have started. I get really bloated, narky and crampy. I guess we are out this month again. This was our 10th month of trying. Why the hell can't I get pregnant? We did it every two to three days, sometimes twice a day Blush I really don't know what to do now, is there a more advanced ovulation test I can take? Should I start charting my temp?

Oh Village :'( that is truly sucky.

Why does that happen? Because the world is a stupid and shitty place sometimes... but then, that's just the way it is :( sadly.

There's a thing on Babycenter (US version) that's says between 30 and 50 percent of fertilised eggs are 'lost' before a woman even knows she's pregnant, and she gets her period around the normal time. For both you and me, that could mean we have conceived but the egg hasn't implanted for chromosomal reasons... crappy but true :( Which is why it is taking longer to get knocked-up this time.

As to your sister - I have no idea what to say. Are you really close, that she would ask you for advice on what to do? It is her decision, in the end, and the whole situation is so crappy that it's gonna hurt you no matter what. Would you be happy convincing her that she shouldn't have the baby, or would she be a good mum despite the hopeless dad? Y'never know, he might freak out and leave her before the baby arrives... happened to friend of mine, and she's better off being a single mum.

Sending hugs as it sounds like you need them xxx

BurningGubbins · 25/06/2015 07:55

Sorry to hear you're going through such a tumultuous time Village. I can't remember, have you both had fertility tests? We've been trying for 18 months now and not a sniff. I've been properly charting temps etc since about February and found it really interesting and helpful in that it has reassured me that my body is working properly and helped me to better define the fertile window. For me, ovulation happens a couple of days after my positive opks, so I think there were a lot of months when we got the timing wrong.

Re: your sister, that must be so much harder than the seemingly endless stream of colleagues and friends I have who are suddenly pregnant. It does feel unfair.
Whichever way your sister decides to go it might be the jolt she needs to leave?

VillageFete · 25/06/2015 10:49

Thanks for your very kind replies, ladies. I asked Mumsnet to delete that part of my post as I thought it might be insensitive. Sister and I are close, and she relies on me alot. She asked for my opinion and I was brutally honest, but told her it needed to be totally her decision as she would need to live with the consequences either way. She has decided she can't go forward, the thought of being a Mum right now horrifies her so I have to go with her to support her. I feel like a terrible person for wanting her to make this decision, I feel it's the right thing, yet part of me is devastated that she is going through with it. It's very confusing.

As for me, I was going to try that clearblue digital ovulation test this month? Perhaps it's time to have DP's sperm checked?

EmFlat · 25/06/2015 19:41

Oh Village, of course it's confusing - but you're doing absolutely the right thing by giving her your opinion when asked for, and supporting her whatever happens.

Your emotions are all tied up in this not only because it's your sister, but because of your wish to have a baby... everyone on this thread is here for you when you need to chat/cry/rant

VillageFete · 25/06/2015 20:36

EmFlat - you are very kind, thank you. Sis was on injection, had the last one in March (so she says, but I have a feeling her last injection was January. It lasts 3 months apparently?) Anyway, she said she had her period in May on the date expected, but it was lighter and only for a couple of days, she then missed her period in June, tested 10 days later and was pregnant. Period was normal in April. Do you think she may have conceived in April and that's why she only bled lightly in May? God I hope not. She is adamant she is not going through with it Sad but will she have a choice if she did conceive in April, and not May like she thinks?

I've been properly trying for 10 months, but hadn't been using protection for a while before that. Will have to look at the clear blue ovulation test.

EmFlat · 26/06/2015 08:15

I don't know what the doctors might say regarding her timings - although I hope she will be given a choice. Terminations can be carried out up to 24 weeks when necessary, so I would think there's time to discuss it with a doctor.

So sad for you, but will keep my fingers crossed that the Clearblue helps! I'm trying naturally again this month so let me know what think of the opk etc xxx

VillageFete · 26/06/2015 09:45

Em - how long have you been trying for now? I have bad period pains today, it's not cramping, it's a dull ache, due on tomorrow and just want it out of the way.

I'm a woman on the edge today, very snappy and angry.

EmFlat · 26/06/2015 22:56

4th month of ttc coming up, which is nothing compared to others :( but have been counting and dtd'ing every other day, getting regular sleep, eating well etc.

If nothing happens in July I'll get an opk and see if that makes a difference xxx

Ps hope you're okay xxx

BurningGubbins · 27/06/2015 07:49

How are you doing today Village?

BurningGubbins · 27/06/2015 07:53

I went to the doc's yesterday to get this chest pain checked out. It's much better than it was, but just wanted some peace of mind. Plus DH is going to be away for work soon and didn't want our son to starve to death because I'd died of a heart attack...Hmm
Anyway, all is fine, I just have to take my blood pressure twice a day for the next week to make sure it's steady. Looks like it was a combination of the maca and stress, which is obviously great for conception!

Brindler · 27/06/2015 11:11

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear of the extra stress you're going through village. Hope you're ok.

Burning that doesn't sound good at all! I take it you've stopped the maca now?! Amazing how much effect those little pills can have!

Well I'm now halfway into my 2ww and trying not to over analyse every little thing although really not holding out too much hope! Think I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that it's not going to happen for us, but will keep at it just in case a miracle does occur!
