Still here, still struggling on, still hoping to get there in the end. Come on ladies, we'll all get our BFPs in 2015 (if not before)!

Hi Ginger, I'm new here so 'congratulations' on your bfp back on Nov! Hope these last few weeks go okay for you.

Mind if I ask, does 'soy' literally mean 'soy' (as in food) or is it an abbreviation? I'm taking advice from this thread - hubby & I are dtd'ing every other day Wink he thinks it Christmas and birthday all rolled into one! Just wondering if there's anything else I can do Wink

LittlePoot · 15/06/2015 14:58

Hi Em. Soy is short for soy isoflavones, a supplement otherwise known as 'nature's clomid' that some people have tried on here, both successfully and unsuccessfully. A while ago (probably around the time of ginger's bfp) we had a lot of discussion about it, including the recommendations about how much to take and on which days of the cycle, so it might be worth looking back? Actually, there have been many discussions about supplements, acupuncture and other things people have tried to try and up their chances. So if you have a couple of hours spare then it'd be worth a look back. Someone with a better memory might be able to summarise it for you, but I'm afraid I just remember that the conversation happened but very little about what was in it.....

EmFlat · 15/06/2015 15:38

Thanks Poot, okay I'll have a look back and see what I can find - you never know what might work!

Cheers m'dear xxx

Hey everyone - welcome to the thread EmFlat. I tried soy for a couple of months but as I'm so impatient and it didn't work I'm giving it a break this month!

Had a nice break thanks Burning. Now searching for another mini break for July - trying to make the most of it before dd starts full time school nursery in September - booo!

Your symptoms sound promising! How far into 2ww are you??

I've been far to lapse in the ttc department for the last couple of months but definitely going to give it a good try again this month.

Was actually wondering to myself today, when do you decide to stop? Does an age gap ever get too much? My sister has just had a baby a few days before her dd1 turned 6 but I only ever wanted a 2-3 year gap. Dd will be 4 in October so I'm looking at at least a 4.5 yr gap even if I conceive pthis month which is probably unlikely. I feel so sad that I can't give her the playmate she wants as we're probably past that stage in terms of age gaps

BurningGubbins · 16/06/2015 06:35

I'm out, as expected. There's only a very slim chance of this happening naturally for us now, so it's no real surprise. My aches and pains have stopped now, so they must have been pre-menstrual.

I know what you mean Brindler, my son will be 4 in January. I'm not that bothered about the gap as there are 10 years between me and my brother, but at some point we will feel too old to handle the sleepless nights. Or maybe we won't, maybe we'll keep trying until we physically can't, but I can't see it. For me, I never wanted to be an 'old' parent.

Brindler · 16/06/2015 08:25

Ahh sorry Burning ????

EmFlat · 16/06/2015 13:45

Sorry too, Burning :(

LittlePoot · 16/06/2015 16:49

Oh rubbish Burning - sorry to hear that. You sound a bit defeated . Wish I could say something to help. Age-gap wise, I've never been too worried about how big it gets if I do have another. I'm more sad about him being an only child when he's grown up - grown up siblings should be such a good support network (not actually true in my case, but I see other very good examples!). But at 40, I've only realistically got a year or two more before I give up trying. Surely it will happen by then won't it?!

BurningGubbins · 17/06/2015 06:32

Not defeated, just getting bored of waiting to see what the hospital have to say (August). I feel like I don't know where I stand. If I knew that the chances were so slim this would probably never happen then I could make peace with it, it's the not knowing I find hardest.

LittlePoot · 17/06/2015 06:41

Yes - I'm with you there! I think I might be happier knowing now that I'm never going to get pregnant again so I can move on. But as it is, there's always hope (to get dashed each month) so I'm not prepared to make the decision to stop trying myself. And really frustrating that in my case, the medical profession has been completely useless.

Brindler · 17/06/2015 08:21

I feel your frustration there little! In fact I'm wondering whether to go back to my gp (or even get a private opinion) as af this month has lasted 10 days! Surely that's not right! Although wondering if that's just going to drag the stress of it all on unnecessarily when the outcome is going to be the same i.e nothing they can do

LittlePoot · 17/06/2015 08:29

I'm wondering about getting a private opinion too on the general infertility thing. Your weird af sounds like a nightmare! Have you got any other unusual symptoms like pain or higher temperature than normal? If so, I'd had to the GP. Otherwise you would be justified in going anyway because 10 days is a long time, or you could wait a month and see if it was just a one off. Doesn't sound much fun though at all!

If I do go for a private opinion, I'd had to London rather than home because I don't think my hospital are particularly cutting edge in terms of conception. Do we know any recommendations of consultants in London?

Metalhead · 17/06/2015 10:28

Just got my Harmony results - all low risk, and we're having another girl!! Grin

I'm so relieved, and glad the results came back so quickly, my nerves are absolutely shot.

crispiecrunchie · 17/06/2015 13:55

Great news metal. I'm so delighted for you!Roll on your twenty week scan!

RalucaMorena · 17/06/2015 14:08

Hi all! New to the thread so in short ne 36 (7) ds 8 ttc for 3 months since our 2nd mc. A bit confused about my body. With ds I used to ovulate on cd8 this month and previous one on cd16/17 and lay month af came 2 days early so don't know what happens. I if pattern continues will have to go to gp. A bit confused as after mc1 I got pregnant in first month of ttc.

Putneymummy1 · 17/06/2015 14:45

I'm following Raluca around it seems! 39 with 9mo DS. Want another desperately. Feel a bit of a sense of urgency as will be 40 in August. Shock
DH doesn't really share the urgency but is up for it! Need to DTD a lot more often though which is sometimes hard with baby around, work stress etc! Congrats all who are are preg already x

Metalhead · 17/06/2015 17:11

Thanks little and crispie, I don't think I'll ever be able to fully relax after everything but it's another milestone ticked off.

Still keeping my fx for you little and all the other ladies on here. x

Metal HUGE congrats! Another girl! So glad you're low risk!

Well, didn't use ovulation sticks this month. My average cycle length is 32 days (but can sometimes be 30, 33, 34) My app told me based on 32 days i'd ovulate Saturday just gone. Anyway we DTD Tues, Wed, Thurs, and twice on Sunday Blush Tried to take a laid back approach, but now panicking we haven't done it enough? Do you think we have a chance? Wish i'd used ovulation tests now.

RalucaMorena · 17/06/2015 19:54

Village I read that dtd every other day had better outcomes than every day. Don't stress! (Yes I know it's not easy )
We use opk, maca root, vitamins, pre-seed, dtd every other day. What more could we do? If not pregnant in couple of months will ask for more tests.

Brindler · 17/06/2015 20:59

Yes metal! Fantastic news!! So happy for you and thank goodness you didn't have to wait the whole 2 weeks.

Hi everyone else! Welcome Raluca and Putney!

Little I don't have any London recommendations but I'm in hertfordshire and a friend of mine used Bushey Spire which worked out well for her. My consultant did give me a list of london clinics but not sure I'd trust his judgement! In fact I think I might have thrown it away in a strop!

BurningGubbins · 18/06/2015 06:34

Hooray Metal! So pleased for you!

I'm in London and will be going private through our local hospital as we're not eligible for NHS treatment now, so I'll let you know if any names comes out of that.

Village, every other day is fine I reckon. That's what we're doing now (though it clearly hasn't made any difference...) as it was becoming too much of a chore going for it every day of The Zone.

Welcome Raluca and Putneymummy. This is a really great thread, but hope you're not here long.

RalucaMorena · 18/06/2015 15:59

3dpo so we will soon know! Either way.

BurningGubbins · 19/06/2015 06:26

My weird aches and pains have come back and I dredged up from the back of my mind having read somewhere about chest pains related to taking maca. Have just confirmed online that it's a side effect so I'm going to lay off it for a while and see if there's any improvement. I was taking it to lengthen my lp, which was back up to 12 days last cycle, so we'll see what happens without it...

I reacted quite strongly the soy so I may just be someone who shouldn't mess with hormones...

RalucaMorena · 19/06/2015 11:24

BurningGrubbins how much maca did you take? My husband and I started 2 weeks ago. I can't say I feel anything different. My husband said he feels a bit more energetic. We have 2500mg capsules, 1/day
