Have looked at the buses and things but I feel a bit geriatric on them, with all the ages there for all to see, and the "old birds" type threads are lovely and supportive but a lot of the posters are dealing with issues like how to juggle older kids and a later pregnancy, or comparing ttc experiences now with the first time round.

Just wondered if anyone else was like me, basically didn't meet the right person till pretty late in life and now playing catchup and feeling slightly terrified of having left it all too late. I'm 41 (and 3 months) and DH and I got married in June and are now starting TTC. Most of my contemporaries had 2 or 3 kids before they were 40. I'm not afraid of the tiredness/no energy older Mum thing, or even really how old I'd look or feel at the school gates- I have actually been told many times I look younger than I am. No fertility probs that I know of and cycles seem regular and 28 days, but I have this awful dread that if the average time to conceive when young and healthy is 6 months, I just don't have enough time left. Silly to worry I know since we've only just started our 2nd cycle TTC, but would love to hear from anyone else in a similar position.

Ah yes, my friend had donor IVF (single Mum) at a clinic in Cyprus. Her baby boy is lovely! She was 40 when he was born.

Jessie - Husband's job. To be honest, I don't want to see any doctor educated in the ME. Each to their own, but it's still pretty backwards here and religion tends to influence their practice.....

Stinkersmum · 05/02/2015 19:32

Gingham - thanks! I didn't know that. I work at a school so am free all summer. I'll look into that if things do to happen soon. My father lives in Spain and I have an NI number there... Just ftr, poas and got another bfn tonight. Still no af though. This is doing me in! Might arrange to have a blood test done.

This link may be of interest stinkersmum. Fingers crossed you get a BFP and don't need it though...

My FSH result still hasn't come through. Was hoping to have it today as am off skiing for a week tomorrow so won't know for over a week now.

On the bright side when we booked the skiing I was worried that it might be a bad idea if pregnant. Don't have to worry about that now. I can't imagine that skiing during the 2ww will make a difference to the outcome.

I'm feeling a bit pessimistic this cycle though, just can't imagine the whole sperm meets egg and implants process going right this time when it's failed every other time so far.

Jessie, my sister was just pregnant with her third child when skiing. She knew as well, but said she felt quite flippant about it as it was her third child!

All was well and said child is now a naughty 3-year-old!

Relax and have a great time. All we can do is try and it will most probably happen sooner or later ... :-)

skitterscatter · 07/02/2015 11:48

Wow Annie you really have been through it - fingers firmly crossed for you! *
Thanks for the welcome, folks, and some great positive stories here, and sorry for the delay replying. It's been a weird few days... Thursday was a really horrible, stressful day and then late Thursday night / Friday morning (CD35/36) I "came on". I put it like that because this is the weirdest AF I've ever had. Very light (bear in mind it's been just five weeks since the last), very red, bit of mucus (TMI again, sorry), no cramping beyond about half an hour in. That's just not what my periods are like... Will definitely go to the doc ASAP.

AnnieHoo · 07/02/2015 13:17

Hs26 and scatter - yes it does seem a lot but it's all happened quite quickly and It will all be worth it if I end up having a baby one day. I really didn't think id have to go through this as I've always been very healthy and I look younger than I am which means nothing! My AMH is 14.1 which is better than average do I'm hoping that this one is a goodun. You just don't know.

Pleased to say all went well with the transfer, the little fella defrosted ok and I test a week today.

If it doesn't work I'm not sure what's next, either another ivf cycle or keep going naturally.

Sorry AF got you scatter, it's torture when your period is longer and you don't know what's going on.

HS26 · 07/02/2015 14:20

AnnieHoo so happy all went well with the transfer! An acquaintance of mine who went through IVF finally succeeded on the 5th try. She said she had to totally change her attitude towards it and see it all as a process that would likely eventually succeed. Might help to try to see things that way ... so excited for you to see how things go this time!

Skitterscatter sorry you're going through this. I think a little trip to the doctor might be in order. I bet your body will 're-set' itself before long, though and things will go back to normal. Do let us know!

I'm about 8 days past ovulation now, I think. Trying not to get too stressed out and have sort of changed my thinking this month. I am expecting it to be another unsuccessful month - I figure if I look at it this way then eventually I will get a lovely surprise! (well, that's what I hope!)

Stinkersmum · 08/02/2015 04:07

Could this be my BFP??

JessieMcJessie · 08/02/2015 04:57

Ooh, I can definitely see a line! I think that the rule is that no hormone at all if you are not pregnant, so a faint line is still a positive result. Congratulations! Keep us posted...

Omfg. That is all.

toastedcheesesandwich · 08/02/2015 08:59

stinkersmum Definitely a line, congratulations!!!!

HS26 · 08/02/2015 09:20

That is wonderful news, stinkersmum - I love that it's happened for you after being patient for all these months.

Huge congratulations!!

Stinkersmum · 08/02/2015 09:31

Thank you all so much. I still don't quite believe it. Although we were 'ttc', I'd kind of settled with myself that it wouldn't happen. At 39 and DH 46 with neither of us having ttc before, I wasn't hopeful. Just need to try and keep calm now until my first scan on the 21st. I keep staring at the photo to make sure I'm not imagining it. Blush

crispiecrunchie · 08/02/2015 11:50

Congratulations stinkersmum. Definitely a clear positive!! Are you having an early scan? X

AnnieHoo · 08/02/2015 11:59

oh wow Stinkersmum that's a definite line there. Congratulations Smile!!

Stinkersmum · 08/02/2015 14:53

Yes, just to check I am actually pregnant! They like to scan you every month here in Saudi.... its all private health care so I'm sure it's for money rather than concern!

crispiecrunchie · 08/02/2015 17:49

Wow! Well you'll get to see the wee one very soon!!

skitterscatter · 08/02/2015 19:04

Oh wow, congrats stinkersmum! Fantastic news Smile

Stinkersmum · 09/02/2015 04:15

Thank you scitterscatter! Defo pregnant, poas stick this morning, much stronger line Smile.

Quick update from me. Still pregnant bit hanging out on conception board more than pregnancy lol. I will be 7 weeks on Sunday so all being well will take the plunge and check in with the midwife on Monday.

Hope everyone else is ok and stinkers and I have started a series of positives.

HarryConnickSenior · 11/02/2015 23:15

Jessie here. Fantastic you're still hanging on in there crispie. Good luck at the midwife. I am on 10 dpo/CD 26. Can feel a teeny bit of cramping, may even just be in my head, probably AF gearing up. Waiting it out....Doc has emailed to say FSH "normal" but hasn't given a number, frustrating as I need more concrete stats for Dr Google! I had it tested about 2 years ago when it was better than average for my age and want to see how much it has changed. We're having a nice time skiing but I am sort of wishing the week away just so I can know one way or the other for this cycle.

HS26 · 12/02/2015 07:33

Hi girls. Great news, Crispie!

Jessie, I'm in much the same position as you, although I've had proper af cramp since 5 days before period due. I've had this in previous months (but usually about 3 days before only) and have got my hopes up, but period always comes right on time!

So ... expecting period tomorrow some time. :-(

Good news about the FSH, Jessie. You just need to get some more info out of that doc!

Inshock73 · 12/02/2015 12:27

Hello everyone

I hope you don't mind me popping on to your thread, I stumbled across it because I posted on the 40+ thread yesterday (used to be on that one) and just wanted to offer some encouragement because I fell in to the 40+ ttc first baby group.

I decided to ttc two months before my 40th birthday after 6 years with my partner, I'd never felt there was a 'right time' or felt broody to be honest until I could see 40 on the horizon and had a meltdown :) I fell pregnant the first month of trying but miscarried at 9 weeks in March 2013, we took a break for a few months before trying and then deciding after exactly one year without a result to give up.....only to discover I was pregnant! Baby is due in April :) I'm about to become a first time mum at the grand old age of 42 :)

Just wanted to share a little 'Good luck' story with you all x

AnnieHoo · 12/02/2015 13:16

inshock! Lovely to hear from you Smile! Can't believe you're due in April. That has come round so quickly.

Thank you for popping on to give us a boost. It means a lot to hear good news stories - there is still hope! Xxx
