guybrush I caught within 7 weeks with both DDs and I caught within 7 weeks this time... It just never occurred to me that I could lose the baby Sad I've been POAS morning and evening and getting BFNs. Before I started testing I was feeling panicky and sick about the thought of being PG again, but the longer the BFNs have gone on, the sadder it makes me that I'm not PG.

I'm not holding out any hope as we weren't supposed to be trying this month, and I know if I get a BFP I will have major anxiety with it being so close to the MC.

I've been wondering if I can get referral to the local EPU when I do get a BFP, just so that I can get some reassurance? But I have no clue what an EPU does? What would they do if I did manage to get a referral?

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 31/12/2014 08:08

I doubt you would to be honest. Most of them (early pregnancy unit) wing do anything unless you've had multiple miscarriages. I'll be booking an early private scan about 8 weeks next time.

StockingFullOfCoal · 31/12/2014 09:12

Private scan it is then.

AF just showed up. Feeling very relieved.

Thanks guys

Gr33dyeggs · 31/12/2014 11:41

epskie I was still getting positives after 3 weeks with an 11 week mc. Ended up having 2 blood tests a week apart which came at 11 and 5. So officially negative after 5 weeks. Oddly I'd had a period and I still had HCG around!

stocking sorry AF got you. I've had 2 mc now and was told I could get an early scan next time.

Gr33dyeggs · 31/12/2014 11:47

Just read back a bit.
epskie I had to seriously persuade my OH to try ttc no2, but when we lost it he was very much 'we can try again'. Like others have said, honest conversations are the best way about trying again. Then get on here to discuss all your crazy and irrational feelings - not sure my OH needs to know all of those!

Brummiegirl15 · 31/12/2014 12:48

Hi all. Shit shit news. 9 weeks tomorrow - had my follow up scan this morning. Baby has died. There was no heartbeat this time.

ERPC scheduled for Friday morning.

3rd mc in a row. Fucking devastated doesn't even close. Why is this happening????

We saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks but it seems baby died soon after. Numb with grief and shock

Allthefours · 31/12/2014 12:53

Brummie, I am so so sorry. Really shit news. Life is so very cruel. There really are no words, but I'm thinking of you. Hugs. Xx

Brummie - I am so so sorry. As Allthefours said, there really are no words. Thinking of you. Sending enormous un-mumsnetty hugs FlowersFlowersFlowers

StockingFullOfCoal · 31/12/2014 13:28

Oh Brummie Sad How awful for you, especially after the assurance you get from an early scan. That is absolutely shit and I am so sorry Flowers

Allthequeenshorses · 31/12/2014 13:33

Awe brummie my heart is breaking for you. I am so so sorry and also sending you massive hugs.

LazyRohazy · 31/12/2014 13:45

I'm so sorry brummie. Horrible news.

fromwesttoeast · 31/12/2014 13:47

So sorry to read your awful news Brummie. You should now push for investigations as you've had 3 mc. There is a recurrent mc thread on the mc board which you may find useful.
I've been lurking on this thread feeling like a proper oldie (over 40) amongst all of you! But I've just delurked as I was struck by what Gr33 said above- you mean you had a period within 5 weeks of your mc despite still having a positive test?
I'm just coming out of an anembryonic pregnancy, a twin one so hormones were high. Just before Christmas I had a scan and the sacs had shrunk away, although remains were still there. Doctor said no further treatment needed and I should wait for my period. Started bleeding yesterday ( just over 3 weeks since previous bleeding ceased). I thought it must be my period, but did a pg test this morning and it's still positive. From that I thought must be still mc bleeding, but your experience was that it's possible to have a period in such circumstances? So confused!

chasingtherainbow · 31/12/2014 14:51

Oh brummie. I am so, so sorry :-(

Brummie so so sorry, there are no words. Thinking of you, lots of hugs and flowers Thanks

mrsdiddlydoo · 31/12/2014 15:05

brummie heartbroken for you. It's so unfair. Hope you have some RL support. We're all here for you. Flowers 2nd fromwesttoeast about checking out the recurrent mc thread. Amazing bunch of ladies. I am sorry I don't know your background, but I would recommend speaking to the hospital about what happens next. They may be able to check the baby for abnormalities which could feed into any future care you receive. Such a crude thing to say at a time like this. I'm sorry Sad.

fififolle · 31/12/2014 16:13

So so sorry Brummie xx

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 31/12/2014 16:18

Oh brummie. We are here for you. I'm so sorry. It's so fucking unfair.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 31/12/2014 16:22

fromwest I think it is unlikely to be a period if still positive test. Equally if everything had passed, you should have a negative test within a couple of weeks so I would imagine it possibly hasn't all gone yet? But someone else might come along with more knowledge than me! Could you push for some blood tests or further scanning?

Gr33dyeggs · 31/12/2014 16:24

brummie Sad Flowers You must be devastated. I'm so sorry its happened again.

westtoeast apparently lower than 25 is considered negative medically but the urine tests still show positive below this. I'm pretty sure it was a period. It was 4 weeks to the day of mc and was like usual (with the exception of 4 days spotting prior to it). I'd had a scan which showed empty womb so unlikely to have been prolonged mc.

Treaclepie19 · 31/12/2014 16:26

I am so, so sorry brummie. Words can't even express.
I hope you have plenty of support x

Thanks everyone who responded to my query. The confusion for me is that I have not had a "classic" mc which I can pin down to a date. I had two very small sacs the largest of which never exceeded 12mm. Over a series of scans the sacs grew, then started to collapse then shrank until at the last scan the doctor said that what remained would "come out with your next period". I know this is contrary to what most people are told. So, at last scan there was stuff remaining but I was told it didn't matter.
Throughout the miscarriage episode I did not experience heavy bleeding or cramps, so it wasn't a normal mc iyswim. The bleeding part ended about 3 and a half weeks ago.
This is why I'm not sure what's happening. It's interesting to know that a period can happen even while some hcg remains. Maybe that's what the doctor was suggesting.
