New thread full of the most amazing women.

Thank you for the warm welcome... I have read back and it's evident you are all a lovely bunch.

Has anyone used a cbfm (the expensive one!) and if so would you recommend?

I am currently using ics and temping so my temps do confirm ov. So I don't know if I need a cbfm?

MissMrsMummy · 01/02/2015 14:29

Ps when I go to my GP I have my charts from the last few months,, is there anything else I need to be armed with that will be useful?

Pikz · 01/02/2015 14:46

Miss mummy I would say no to cbfm, the cheap opks and temping do a better job in my honest opinion. I have the older one and use opk instead as I find the cbfm expensive to use month after month and you only get the output not to see right the lines have faded etc

In terms of doc just all the facts written out so you can remember them and a thick skin. Be polite but demanding

MissMrsMummy · 01/02/2015 15:15

Thank you pikz that is good to know. I will be prepared for the doc (mentally!) are they inclined to fob you off?

Pikz · 01/02/2015 16:25

More they have limited resource so often don't move very quickly and some pcts are 2 years minimum ttc etc

loopylou1984 · 01/02/2015 19:44

Missmrs - my gp was actually really good. She arranged all the tests they could do there so that when we reached the year mark she could refer us straight away... But from what I've heard not all GPs are that helpful. It probably helped that I was in tears.... Hard to say no when your patient is a blubbering mess I suppose. Good luck, Xx

loopylou1984 · 01/02/2015 19:46

Oh and agree with Pikz re cbfm.... Temping and cheapie opks all the way Smile
Or, if your dh is on board for dtd eod then just temping and lose the opks altogether, no need to spend any money each month then. Xx

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 01/02/2015 20:02

I worked shifts when we first started ttc so could never do temping, by the time I got round to considering pee sticks we'd already been trying for long enough to go to the doctor who was very anti monitors etc because she thought I'd get really stressed about it. I think on one hand she was right, on the other I'm a control freak and would have found it conforting!

TrixieRay · 01/02/2015 20:30

I agree re cbfm. I have the old one and it was the biggest waste of money ever, never got a peak but confirmed ov by temping.
I did a clear blue trial for their dual hormone OPKS and they're really good though not cheap.
We're just going for DTD when we feel like it at the mo (though I have been trying to ensure we do it mid cycle!)

Thank you donna I'm reassured that some of you have had positive GP experiences... I'm impressed with mine so far so I hope she doesn't let me down on this. I will google my ccg and see what is says. DH has agreed we can pay for tests thoug if we can't get them yet on nhs.

Surprise arrival of AF today Sad

Means my bloods were done on the wrong day again.

FML Sad

Pikz · 02/02/2015 21:40

Lemon I have never ever managed to do day 21 bloods right ever. Whenever I think I have it cracked my Af turns up the next day. No idea why

TheTravellingLemon · 03/02/2015 10:31

Just had it really. Certainly can't fund IVF privately. Just massively fucking off this month. More than sad, I just feel furious. Angry

TheTravellingLemon · 03/02/2015 10:38

fucked off! You'd better watch it piece of shit phone or i'll throw you out the fucking window.

MissMrsMummy · 03/02/2015 14:55

Hi lemon so sorry you are having a bad time at the moment x

TheTravellingLemon · 03/02/2015 15:36

Thanks. Actually feeling a little calmer this afternoon. The hormones make it so much worse. Like a sick joke that you feel your most upset and disappointed at the exact time you're least able to cope with it. Bastards. Angry

I'm having a sweary day Blush

TrixieRay · 03/02/2015 16:12

Oh no Lemon, it's bad enough when AF arrives let alone when it catches you off guard. I agree, the AF hormones are evil. I've always suffered from PMT but there is an added edge when you throw the disappointment and upset into the mix.
How far out is it? I had mine done 10 days before AF as it was late and results ended up being ok so you never know.

Donna sorry that you're feeling Sad it's so hard isn't it. Great that you and DH were able to talk about how you feel. I know my DH feels upset and helpless. I feel so much better for being on here, there should be a section for men.

loopylou1984 · 04/02/2015 07:16

Oh travelling - sorry to hear you had such a rubbish day.
Hope you're feeling a bit better now?
Feel free to rant away, sometimes you just need to get it out! X

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 04/02/2015 09:20

Embryo transfer today so have taken the morning off (I have 2x 2hour long meetings in the afternoon so figured I might as well save holiday for when I have a baby some pessimistic reason as usual, and just sit in the meetings today). Opened Facebook while drinking my cup of tea and the top post is a pregnancy announcement from a friend who only met her husband about a year after I started ttc. Really threw me for six. And The announcement said "due September 2015" does she know how many things can still go wrong?! It's only the first trimester!!

TheTravellingLemon · 04/02/2015 09:56

Good luck this morning Toes. I'll be sending positive vibes out!

TrixieRay · 04/02/2015 11:03

Good luck Toes! I have everything crossed for you.
That's a really early announcement!! When DH and I finally conceive we'll be keeping our news well away from FB.

Pikz · 04/02/2015 11:06

Good luck toes. Gosh that is early I was 5 months gone before most people knew!

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 04/02/2015 12:36

I'm back already! One lovely looking 5AA blastocyst is on board, another 5AA is in the freezer and two more might catch up tomorrow, they will let me know. I'm glad I have at least one back up, hopefully the other two will make it too!

I am enjoying being PUPO for today before I start stressing again, I'm sure!

Pikz · 04/02/2015 13:54

Yay toes! pUPO!
