For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 23/10/2014 21:18

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Lovely positive there Frolic Grin

I find if I turn the lights off and creep under the duvet and work my way up my OH gets in the mood very quickly lol, even if he is knackered and thinks there is no way in hell he is going to be able to get his willy to work.

spinningirl10 · 02/11/2014 20:25

Newera, yes I took them this cycle cd5-9 (previously I've taken them cd3-8) and as Kitty said it didn't work out too well for me so fx I get a good strong egg this time. I think that's best if you're a bit olderGrin

Haha of course I don't mind you saying that KittyGrin

Frolic, good luck getting dh to dtd!

NewEraNewMindset · 02/11/2014 20:40

Can I check how much you're taking spinning. I'm thinking I'm going to start with 80mg a day initially.

I'm also a bit concerned I've been taking a bit too much b6 and it might be making me feel sick. Either that or I've had a bit of my sons D&V this week. I am sick as a parrot and have been for days Sad

Still waiting for AF to arrive. If she doesn't arrive tomorrow I'm actually going to be worried I've been sticking too many supplements down my throat and screwed my hormones up!!

spinningirl10 · 02/11/2014 20:47

New, this cycle I took 100mg for 2 days then 150 for day 3 and 200mg for the final 2 days. My tablets are 50mg each. I've woken up each morning with a headache (I take soy before bed) but no other nasty side effects. Last cycle I had LOTS of bfp symptoms in the 2ww and was really disappointed when af turned up. It must have been the soy that gave me the symptoms. Oh I've also been having very vivid dreams which are unusual for me.
I don't take B6 so I can't help there. I do take 2000mg up till ov and have done for about 8months.
I'm also starting acupuncture in a couple of weeks.

Oops that was quite an answer for a little question Grin

GingerbreadHead · 02/11/2014 21:06

Phew my head is spinning with all these numbers floating around!
Good luck tonight frolic Wink that was an excellent positive on your opk I must say!!
I have been taking BComplex for a while now, but the tablets are huge and horrid so I do sometimes 'forget' to take them, and I have just stuck at 50mg, wondering if I should increase it to 100mg now. My LP is on the shorter side so it would be good to see some improvement there. I have also just started to take EPO, as I seem to be a bit dry on the ewcm front Blush and I did notice a difference! I'm still noticing some now though, cd 19 and 3 dpo? Any one else had this?? Wondering if it's just a side effect of the cocktail I am on!
It's encouraging reading how the soy is bringing everyones ovulation forward a few days, really hoping we get a string of soy bfps!

BobsyBoo · 02/11/2014 21:24

Frolicacid I usually get about 4 or 5 days of EWCM before ov, it's so interesting to find out its down to epo. I had same prob with my OH last month & much harder to get him in the mood anyway as he already has a low sex drive as it is. Hope you managed to get your DH to DTD.

I've been really lucky then taking them before bed & not waking up with a head ache.

Hello Ginger no I've not had any EWCM after ov it's supposed to dry up quickly after ov. I know what you mean about the Cocktail you should see my dressing table! I take Asda vitamin B complex they're tiny tablets.

GingerbreadHead · 02/11/2014 22:06

Ooh will have to check them out, thanks Bobsy!

Frolicacid · 02/11/2014 22:08

Writing this with my bum propped up on a cushion Wink! Nothing romantic about it - but DH was pretty heroic considering how ill he is!

All this talk of b vitamins is interesting. I haven't really bothered looking into them as my luetal phase is always 14days. But I've just remembered going to my gp a few years back feeling pretty shitty and being told I had a b vitamin deficiency. I was prescribed some b-vits and immediately felt better. Now I'm wandering what it was all about.

NewEraNewMindset · 02/11/2014 22:25

I have to say I take a ridiculous amount of supplements now too. Off the top of my head

B complex
B6 100mg
Selenium
Vit C 1000mg
Vit D3 high strength
Pregnacare with the omega oil
A liquid iron supplement
Folic acid at a high dose which is meant to help prevent miscarriage
and now the EPO and SI if and when AF appears!!

NewEraNewMindset · 03/11/2014 08:02

AF arrived this morning so all good. 14 day LP using B6, it used to be 12, then 13, now 14.

In my dream world I would push OV back a day or two and have a perfect 28 day cycle. Actually in my dream world id just get knocked up and not think about cycles or counting days at all!! Come on body, make a baby goddammit.

ProbablyEvil · 03/11/2014 09:40

Gingerbreadhead - I'm crap at taking big pills but the Vitacare B-complex ones were nice and small (I took 2 a day)

This is one of the articles I read about Luteal Phase/ Progesterone defects - sites.google.com/site/miscarriageresearch/hormones-and-miscarriage/progesterone-research/how-to-increase-progesterone

GingerbreadHead · 03/11/2014 14:47

Me too New!! I take
B 50 Complex
Seven Seas Trying for a Baby
Maca
EPO
Raspberry Leaf Tea
Magnesium
Vitamin C
and also SIs now too.
Wondering if it's too much, if it could end up having an adverse reaction in some way....? I guess the vitamins aren't so bad, but am wondering whether it's a good idea to mix the Maca B 50 and SI?
Wow that is a very informative article thanks Probably, might be adding even more to my list now! Annoying how some things contradict one another though, I have read elsewhere not to consume too much dairy and that can help with ttc.Confused

spinningirl10 · 03/11/2014 16:41

Hi, does anyone know when you should ovulate after the last soy dose. I have a feeling it's 3-5 days after? I'm on cd11 and took my last one on cd9 and I don't have a hint of a line on an opk, I usually get a positive on cd11. I'm thinking it could be better if its a few days later but I'm worrying a little!

Metalhead · 03/11/2014 17:03

Spinning I read something like 7-10 days after last dose, which would tie in with my cycle this month - took soy CD4-8, positive opk on CD16 and ov CD17.

spinningirl10 · 03/11/2014 17:16

Thanks Metal, I'm so impatient and keep making dp dtd just incase! Grin

NewEraNewMindset · 03/11/2014 17:18

Isn't that really late though? I've got in my head that the ideal cycle is 28 days long.

spinningirl10 · 03/11/2014 17:25

Newera yes it does seem late but could be earlier than Metal usually ov's. For me it will be later than normal

Metalhead · 03/11/2014 17:50

Well, yes new, the textbook cycle is 28 days but unfortunately not all of us have that! Hmm Mine average around 34 days so I don't usually ov until CD20.

Anything between 21-35
days for cycles is considered normal though I think.

Blueskygirl30 · 03/11/2014 18:27

Hi, I'm new on this thread. I'm on cycle 6 TTC my first little one. I took S.I this month for the first time cd4-8. I just wondered if anyone knows if this is likely to bring forwards my ovulation as I think I'll miss out on TTC this month if my ovulation comes forwards by even one day.

NewEraNewMindset · 03/11/2014 18:49

Sorry Metal I wasn't criticising your cycle length, I didn't mean for it to come across that way if it did Flowers

I'm just pondering out loud I suppose. It would probably be a bad thing to end up shifting my ov from cd12 to cd16. I think the safest bet would be for me to take 80mg 5-9 this cycle and see what happens.

Metalhead · 03/11/2014 20:44

I'm sorry too new, shouldn't have been so snappy - I just really wish I had a 28 day cycle, it would reduce all the waiting around for ov! Grin

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 03/11/2014 22:11

I'm still waiting for ovulation and no sign, it'll be cd 14 tomorrow. I also wish I had a textbook 28 dayer too Metal. The worst thing about having irregular sometimes longer cycle is on your slight longer cycles, you think you've missed af and get your hopes up.

Frolicacid · 04/11/2014 07:43

Big temp spoke for me this morning, so it looks like I ovulated sometime yesterday or Sunday. That's about 4 days earlier than usual, so it looks like the soy has done something.
Let's hope the temps stay up.

Interesting article probably. I will look into b-vits if we are still trying next cycle. Thank you for linking.

Frolicacid · 04/11/2014 07:43

Spoke? SPIKE!

NewEraNewMindset · 04/11/2014 10:53

Well done Frolic. Fingers crossed for your 2ww.

Well poor DP had me sobbing last night. I can clearly remember this time last year, just before my sons birthday and we were on the brink of moving. I was crying in his arms as we had been trying for 6 months with no luck and I thought 'this time next year ill be pregnant or have a baby'. Thank god I didn't have a crystal ball!

So DP goes to doc tomorrow to start the ball rolling re. sperm test. I have no idea how long the results will take to get back once he submits them. I'm assuming he just drops a sample off at the hospital at a time convenient to himself. He is terrified the nurse is going to ask him to have a wank in the room at 8am tomorrow morn with her watching lol. I said she really has better things to do than watch him furiously masturbating in the corner Grin

So ive just ordered two bottles of CountBoost and another FertilAid for him (poor sod rattles now). In the space of two days I've stuck over £100 of supplements on the card. Total madness.
