For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 23/10/2014 21:18

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Newera, it's so hard isn't it when you've been trying for a while and also suffered mc's. My Dp also has to provide a sperm sample, he has the pot, just need to get him to dtdGrin

Cd12 here and no sign of a positive opk. I always get a positive on cd10/11 so I'm hoping the soy doesn't mess with my cycle too much! This could be my last try with soy. I feel for ladies with irregular cycles, it must be so frustrating not knowing when you're going to ov, not to mention costly with keep peeing on opks!

Frolicacid · 04/11/2014 19:56

Thanks newera. It must be so tough to have been ttc for so long. We're only on cycle 3 and I'm already frustrated. It can only be a good thing that you have the ball rolling now for tests etc. I hope you have that baby in your arms soon Flowers .
Laughing here at your DH thinking the nurse wants to watch! Poor thing, he sounds quite nervous.

Still no sign of ovulation then spinning? How frustrating. The soy seemes to have bought mine forward a bit, but then it is usually pretty late. I hope you get a positive opk soon. Don't give up in case you miss it.

Nothing to report here - I just want the next few days to go quickly to see if I actually did ovulate on Sunday / yesterday so I can thank the soy and start crazy 2ww symptom spotting!

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 04/11/2014 20:15

Still no sign of ovulation for me either, it'll be cd15 tomorrow Sad.
Really hoping the Soy works for me this cycle, I really can't stand the constant waiting anymore, TTC 11months now and not really coping well with it. Thinking about giving uplifted this cycle if no success.

I'm really nervous about the soy screwing my cycle up. Do you think 80mg is unlikely to do anything bad to my OV? I just want to strengthen it so my thinking was 80mg 5-9 cycle one, maybe 100mg cycle 2 and see what happens.

LoopyLa · 04/11/2014 20:48

Disney I'm sorry to hear that Sad

I can absolutely understand & empathise with you. When I was ttc#1, it took two years [depo mucked up everything] & I found the first year particularly hard, frustrating & emotional. By the time it came round to the second year, I was able to be much more pro-active with my GP, pushing for tests etc - made me feel like I had some control over it. I eventually fell pregnant through chance & it was utterly unexpected - we'd just been referred to fertility clinic!

Have you gone to your GP?

whitwoochantelle · 04/11/2014 21:36

I'm boarding this bus will start taking soy tommrow calender day 5 my cycles are crazy. Between 35 n 45 days long so fingers crossed when do you think I'd ov? My opks gave nit turned up yet!

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 04/11/2014 23:29

Yes Loopy, I've been to the gp as I have had two early miscarriages in this past 11 months. She did all the blood clotting tests and I was referred to a gynaecologist whose only advice was to try again as it could just be bad luck, even though I had one blood come back slightly on the lower side of normal. I've also been scanned for suspected pcos, though no blood tests for it. Apparently, the multiple cysts on my ovaries aren't big enough to diagnose pcos by the scan alone, nor is my acne and irregular cycles. I've been meaning to go back and ask for the blood test but I just haven't got it in me at the moment to even go and see my gp about it again. TTC is all consuming.

Good luck whitwoo and newera. I took 100, 150 then 200 mg soy days 5-8 this cycle (didn't manage day 9 due to migrane). It looks so far (temp still high) that I ovulated on day 16. That's about 4 days earlier than usual so the soy seems to have had an affect. I'm hoping for a BFP, but if not, would be happy to bring my cycle length down from 32-35 to 28-30 days.

NewEraNewMindset · 05/11/2014 08:05

Excited for you Frolic Grin

Hoping English will reappear on here as I know soy got her her BFP cycle two but sadly she thought it was chemical Sad

spinningirl10 · 05/11/2014 12:47

Hi, I'm not sure what's going on. I was waiting to ov, but I put my chart on the nov thread earlier and they think I might have ov'd very early!
I'm going to put it here and see if any of you have any thoughts, it's only my second month temping so I'm still learning!

KittyVonCatsington · 05/11/2014 13:01

Logging on at lunch at work, just to stop you from panicking spinning!!

Had a look at your chart - you have definitely not ovulated yet. This is good Grin

We wanted your ovulation to be at a more suitable day (10/11 too early really and so was CD7 last cycle!) but I know you are used to ovulating early and are struggling with the waiting game!

You last took a Soy dose on CD9 right? I expect you to ovulate in the next few days (up to CD16) I'm hoping that this will give you a much stronger egg and a better chance.

Keep DTD every other day and keep testing opks in the afternoon and temping as you are doing right now.

You can do it lovely!!!

spinningirl10 · 05/11/2014 13:04

Ahh thank you so much Kitty for your words of wisdom. I've been wondering where I could find you for your temping knowledgeGrin I shall keep poas and dtd and fx we catch the egg this time!

Hope you and little bean are keeping wellThanks

spinningirl10 · 05/11/2014 13:04

And yes, I took the last soy on cd9, it's only cd13 but I am very impatientGrin

Frolicacid · 05/11/2014 14:40

I don't think you have ov'd yet spinning. Keep POAS and keep dtd!!
Here usy chart so far for this cycle. I am ignoring the temp spike day 9/10 as that's when I had the horrendous migrane and I took rather a lot of drugs to try and deal with it, including a Valium before bed that night.
I think so far that I ov'd day 14/15 as temp is staying high.

kitty sounds very knowledgeable about temping. I would love to hear your thoughts on my chart if you're reading kitty

Frolicacid · 05/11/2014 14:40

Here is my chart so far.

KittyVonCatsington · 05/11/2014 17:43

I agree Frolic that your random temp should be ignored and your temps look promising along with the EWCM. Let's hope in the next few days your temps stay up to confirm!!

spinning Make sure temps are taken roughly the same time each day. If you are entering in the data later in the day, that might be causing your empty circles. Just change the time on the drop down boxes to when the temp was actually taken. And don't forget you will get faint OPK lines during and straight after AF as LH is still present then so don't worry about the lines going whiter. It all looks normal at the moment so will keep an eye out for you xx I so want you to get a BFP before the need for any interventions!

Frolicacid · 05/11/2014 18:22

Thank you kitty. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

spinningirl10 · 05/11/2014 19:03

Thank you Kitty, you're a starGrin dp works funny shifts so although I aim to take my temp at 6am, it's often different. Today he was up at 4.30 so I took temp and then use an online bbt adjuster to change it when I wake.

Frolicacid · 06/11/2014 08:34

Good morning! My temp is still high, so ff has decided this morning that I ovulated Monday on day 15. That's a good 4-6 days earlier than usual, do I guess the soy did something.
let the symptom spotting madness commence

Metalhead · 06/11/2014 09:22

Morning ladies, I'll join the weird temp club this month! I'm pretty sure I'm 4dpo today and had a massive temp drop below the coverline this morning, that's never happened before. Admittedly I woke about 1.5 hours before I took my temp to use the loo, but I've done that before and it's never had such an effect.

As a result FF has changed my ov date from Sunday to Friday, but I'm pretty certain that can't be true as I only got a +opk on Saturday morning (Friday morning was borderline). Now I'm worrying that the soy is doing weird things to my body... Confused

NewEraNewMindset · 06/11/2014 09:24

Metal I'm sure I've read lots of things about temp drops around 4dpo cause by a post OV oestrogen surge. The temp should recover tomorrow.

NewEraNewMindset · 06/11/2014 09:26

Oh and ignore FF shifting the goal posts. I use a temp based monitor to ensure ovulation alongside opks and last cycle it told me I ovulated on cd 10 when I didn't get a pos opk till cd11 and ovulated cd12 with a 14 day LP. It fucked up because one temp didn't register. These things are not foolproof.

Metalhead · 06/11/2014 11:08

Thanks new, that's reassuring. And no, I don't believe I ov'd on Friday, I'll stick with my date of Sunday and ignore FF! I'm just puzzled as to why it's recalculated it.

NewEraNewMindset · 06/11/2014 12:05

I used to get exasperated with FF recalculating things all the time. If you put in ewcm after OV it gives you dashed crosshairs, if one temp is out it panics.

I used to just set it to manual and set OV day to the day after my pos opk and then it used to just settle down.

spinningirl10 · 06/11/2014 13:06

My temp is really high today so maybe I have ov'd, wish our nose would turn blue or something when we ov'd, it would make things so much easier Grin
