I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Oh dear, lauraq, what dose did you take?

Lauraqc · 14/03/2015 07:31

Henry I did 120-120-160-160-160 as that had worked the month before!

Hi girls. Can some of you clever people enlighten me? I have seen it recommended that you can start SI on day 3, 5, or 8 of your cycle, for five days. Would you be able to start on day 10, if you only seem to be ovulating after cd20? Or is it just too late? I thought I'd give it a go because my very short lp (but delayed ov) indicated that I was probably not ovulating at all (am on my first few cycles post-partum).

Lauraqc · 17/03/2015 19:27

Aurora I would say it goes more on the start of your cycle than what day you ov on...so I would think day 10 would be too late? Having said that I did take it during a mega cycle on 5 random days (I wouldn't even be able to say what days in the cycle they were!) and seemingly had no side-effects at all! Once I had af I took it at the right time and had a lovely 27 day cycle which I was over the moon about!

Thanks laura

Hello ladies, may I join? I has soy success at my first try in January, but I found out today my baby has died at 9w3d. It was a first one to develop heartbeat after a high number of early losses (over 10). So I am convinced I got this far because of soy. I took them days 3-7, 100mg daily then 200 the last day. Am now wondering whether it could be better next time to go for even later in the cycle, i.e. days 5-9? I ovulate on my own, so took soy only to boost the egg quality. Obviously it did, but something still went wrong.
I have elder living children, but started to suffer early losses about 4 years ago. Any advice? Of course I still have to wait a couple of months before trying again, just planning ahead here to make mc more tolerable.

henrycocoa · 21/03/2015 21:41

Oh, jass, I am sorry for your loss.

There is no cause for my mc, all tested. One theory is that it is immune related, so I have been on prednisolone for last few tries. And this time I got further than ever, as it was with soy, I believe it helped. But I am thinking maybe it might make more sense to try again with later days. Has anyone here done days 5-9 and what has that resulted in?

VixxFace · 22/03/2015 09:18

How many pregnancies from soy have there been on this thread?

auroraboringalis · 22/03/2015 14:48

jass that's heartbreaking! Am so sorry. Best of luck with the process now until you're in the clear to ttc again! Flowers

Hi all,

I am hoping for some advice. I am 37 & TTC No.1. The doctors can't find anything wrong with me, but I don't always ovulate. I have just finished a course of Clomid, but sadly still no BFP. I also have quite a short LP. Do you think SI would help me?

I would really appreciate any help, as I have tried pretty much everything else and am getting desperate!

artylady14 · 24/03/2015 11:01

Hi all,
I have had a stressful few months which has lengthened my cycles so I thought I would try soy isoflavones (CD1-5 from 120mg to 200mg) this month. Well, I am on CD18 now and still getting lows on CBFM. I usually get about 7-10 days of highs before I ovulate so if this pattern persists this week I will be ovulating very late. Would it be too late to try to conceive this month if I do ovulate so late? I had a chemical pregnancy a year ago when I had a long cycle and ovulated on CD30.

I would be very grateful for any advice!

Hello ladies,

I would like to join you! I have been taking SI for the first time this cycle.
I took 140 mg on cd2-6. I'm now afraid that I screwed my cycle up.
Please take a look at my chart in the post above this: while taking SI, my temps were very low. But once I stopped taking SI, my temps shot up to post-OV temps!
It almost looks like I have ovulated on cd7. But It's been confirmed on ultrasound on cd9 that I've not net ovulated (i'm being monitored since I'm currently in a FET-cycle). Did you experience strange effects on your BBT when on SI?

lamaris · 26/03/2015 09:51

@Nomio230: I'm also 37. I also don't always ovulate and when I do, it's quite late: cd18-20. Last month it was cd22. I also have a short luteal phase of 10 days. A short lp at our age can mean low ovarian reserve. I have been diagnosed with that. Have you had your amh-levels checked yet?

@artylady14: on what day do you usually ovulate?

I have been ttc #1 since 3 years now. We are diagnosed with male infertility and low ovarian reserve (low amh). We are currently undergoing our second round of IVF. The fresh transfer resulted in a chemical pregnancy and this cycle I hope to have a frozen embryo transfer.
I use SI to bring my ovulation forward, so I don't have to wait so long every time. Also, I want a strong ovulation since I still have hope for a natural conception.

Lauraqc · 31/03/2015 22:55

Hi all, just an update with no update really! CD40 today with not even a hint of af. Two hpt's done and both negative. Waiting is boring...

jassS · 01/04/2015 07:23

It seems soy messes up quite a lot of cycles. But I think it is similar with lots of other drugs - for example lots of people take prednosolone during luteal phase and it does not mess up their cycle, but it did mess up mine. Soy, the one time I used it, did not mess with my cycle but gave me a pregnancy, later mc though. We are all so different....

tootsroots · 01/04/2015 15:42

Hello all, been a while since i have visited but i wanted to tell about my soy adventure as it is inconclusive, i had not ov properly and was having crazy cycles so worth a shot.

I took 140mg on cd 4-8 in Nov, but cycle was 38 days..and no ov so lmo 31st dec.. so took again in early jan.. didn't ov until cd 36.. and sheer chance /desperation poas on a ov ic and got a positive. Dtd a couple of times as didn't know if pre or post ov... and then gave up. Went to Dr , had book tests and shrugged shoulders at body.

Randomly did a test on CD46 or something as wanted to take mepsip and found a test in my drawer. to pass time as was off sick i poas to get rid of this last test. and .. ahem... BFP. Currently 8+3weeks pg..

So not sure if they worked... i was still irregular and the GP was a little concerned about my admitting i took it as it was unclear of the impact of the quality of the eggs unlike climbed. Ended up having a scan to check on the sac etc at 5 weeks as i was bleeding, and midwife asked if i had taken it... give my notes and said she wouldn't advise it.

Sorry about the doom and gloom but wanted to share.

lamaris · 01/04/2015 16:56

Here @ cd17 with no hint of a positive OPK...

Lauraqc · 04/04/2015 23:50

Well, well, well-CD44 today and FF tells me I possibly ov'd on CD41! Not bad at all, very pleased I'm not looking at another 150 day cycle! Doubt I'll have conceived though and we only dtd once around that time...damn! Still, another cycle means another shot at it :) may alter the SI days and amount this next cycle and see if i can't cut the cycle down a bit more!

lamaris · 06/04/2015 12:15

I finally had my positive opk at c21...
I don't think i'll be taking SI next month...

Lauraqc · 07/04/2015 22:55

Unfortunately FF took away my tentative positive ov from CD 41, but on the plus side I've had a very definite positive opk tonight on CD 47! Whoop! Can't wait to see what happens, and if I've got another soy cycle I think I'll take them earlier maybe CD2-7 and see if there's any difference to bring my cycle length down a bit.
