For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Hi all, I have bought some si to try next month which will be our 7th cycle with no bfp :( im currently 1dpo for this month but did not ovulate till cd27 this cycle which I think was due to upping dose of epo and b vits. Won't be doing that again! Im normally ovulate on cd20 and have 30-32 day cycles, would like to bring ovulation forward as it's just so long to wait every month!! Im 31 and ttc #1

MaMaPo · 11/01/2015 19:53

Thanks for that frolic! I just temped again and am seeing more of a rise now. I suspect we stopped dtd too early this cycle, but life got in the way. We shall see for next cycle!

Frolicacid · 11/01/2015 20:58

Good luck mama, I'm cheering you on.

bucketfullofwater · 11/01/2015 21:19

Hi ladies, wondering if any of you could help me.

I came off the pill in august, had my withdrawal bleed and then since then NOTHING. Doctor has been suitably useless "well it seems like your ovaries have shut down!" - yeah, thanks for that! (I'm 27) I am being sent for blood tests but I'm not overly hopeful.

DH and I have been trying since September but obviously with no luck. I was wondering if Soy might be useful in getting me 'kick-started' Anyone been similar?

pocopearl · 11/01/2015 22:32

Sad to say soy did not work for us and this was our last month trying. Sad this rTTC journey is over

MaMaPo · 12/01/2015 00:07

So sorry to hear that poco. Are you done for good? That must be very hard, please look after yourself.

Thanks for the cheerleading, frolic!

Hi all! I've been watching this thread for a while and after a really really crappy ttc month (baby bombed by what feels like every friend I have, suspected anov cycle, breakdown on OHs shoulder) I'm on CD 1 and have decided to give si a try this month. Only on cycle 6, so I feel a bit bad that I'm so upset about ttc already when so many others have been trying longer, but we have 3 months left to 'try' before taking almost a year's break in prep for our wedding next year. I temp and use fertility friend to track and its not 100% sure I ovulate at all as my temps are always quite low and very rocky in my luteal phase despite 3+ hours sleep and taking temp at the same time. Plus, since coming off the pill I have realised that my cycles are getting longer each month, only by a day or two, but consistently every month. Started at 26 days and most recent was 35. Went to the docs today to see if this was 'normal' and just got told to 'keep trying'. Si is my next option to try. Quick question... Does anyone know if it's ok to keep taking epo and seven seas trying for a baby while taking soy?

P.s Frolic, you are my inspiration in this area! I was so pleased to see you get your bfp Smile

Frolicacid · 15/01/2015 19:11

Awww quietly, you are sweet!
Don't feel bad about wanting to try other things on cycle 6! I tried soy cycle 3 & 4. 4 was lucky! TTC is tough. I am a control freak, so decided basically to approach it like a project and try something new each month. I'm also approaching 35 and was worried we'd left it late etc, etc. there are so many scare stories once you start googling.

EPO is fine with soy as far as I know. I took it because of not getting lots of ewcm. You need to stop taking it at ovulation because it causes uterine cramps, which aren't good in luetal phase. Not sure abou the other stuff, but I'm sure vitamins should be fine.
Try taking the soy in the evening to avoid headaches. Good luck Flowers

Hope all is going well for you mama Smile

MaMaPo · 15/01/2015 20:14

Thanks frolic! Doing ok. 6dpo and no symptoms so it's all a bit boring. Temps have stayed nice and high though.

Haven't poas since my bfp last time and I'd quite like to this cycle - how early is ok, do you reckon? AF usually turns up 10-11 dpo.

Welcome Quietly! Best of luck using soy.

Frolicacid · 15/01/2015 20:36

I have everything crossed for you mama. Yay for high temps.
Did you have any ov symptoms? I didn't get much on the first soy cycle but had lots of pain and chin spots the second.

I POAS at 10/11 dpo and got a strong line quickly on a frer. Probably would have shown up a day if not two before. So I reckon you can go at 10 dpo.
I'm still occasionally POAS at 8+1 Blush

Quietlyhopeful81 · 15/01/2015 21:31

Thanks frolic! now we have decided to give it a try, I'm anxious to start. After much reading, I've decided to do days 3-7 at 80-80-80-120-120 and see what happens as I can always up the dose next cycle if needed and then go all out on the 3rd (and last for the time being) cycle depending on how 1 and 2 go. I'm not far from 35 myself so I'm having similar concerns. I have a dd who is almost 12 and OH doesn't have any. I'm anxious that we don't miss out on the chance to have at least one together. Thank you for the advice Smile

Thanks for the welcome mama! Good luck and fx for you!

pocopearl · 15/01/2015 22:08

First month of Soy after being told PCOS and BFP!!!

Lauraqc · 15/01/2015 22:15

Oh wow poco brilliant news well done!!!! Inspirational!!!!

Quietlyhopeful81 · 15/01/2015 23:35

That's fab poco! Congratulations!!

MaMaPo · 16/01/2015 00:42

Poco I thought you were out! Yay!!!

MaMaPo · 16/01/2015 02:52

Frolic, I don't think I had any ovulation pain but then I don't think I ever have. I can't go by chin spots either because they are a month-long affliction! Although they did clear up a bit after AF and then get worse... now I'm just talking myself into it.

Need to distract myself for another 4 days. Hum.

Frolicacid · 17/01/2015 21:57

Fab news poco, congratulations Flowers

I hope the distraction is going well mama?

Quietlyhopeful81 · 17/01/2015 22:19

CD 3 and just taken 80mg of soy. Fingers crossed this works Smile

MaMaPo · 18/01/2015 03:58

Thanks frolic - well enough! Went to visit my dear friends and their 3 day old baby yesterday, that was pretty great! Husband and I very envious! They've had a very rough trot (multiple mc, ectopics etc so an IVF baby) and I am wonderfully happy for them.

What dpo did you test, Frolic?

Quietly - everything crossed for you! Others talk about having had side-effects from the soy but I don't think I had any.

Quietlyhopeful81 · 18/01/2015 18:57

Thanks mamapo! Didn't have any last night, though I did take them not long before bed like frolic suggested, and 80 is quite a low dose too, I think (mine are from Tesco and are 40 each) so hoping that when I up the dose on CD 6 I still don't get any.

How is the distraction going for you? When will you test now? I have everything crossed for you Smile

MaMaPo · 18/01/2015 19:54

Soy is a big failure so far. I wanted to extend the length of my 23-24 days cycle, and this month it's 22 days. Not feeling great!

Thanks for warn wishes everyone. The tww ended up being very short - 8 days!

Quietlyhopeful81 · 19/01/2015 15:06

Sorry to hear that mamapo. Flowers Will you try soy again this cycle? Or anything else instead? Thinking of you and hoping you get your bfp soon.

Frolicacid · 19/01/2015 17:32

I'm sorry mama Flowers

I don't know much about lp lengthening, but I'm sure I've read about ladies who have had success with b-vitamins. Maybe that would be something to look into if you haven't already. I took a cocktail of vitamins (along with soy to strengthen eggs) the month I got my BFP. I don't know if they made a difference but I'll post a list of you want.

Good luck with whatever you try next. It's a tough business.

MaMaPo · 20/01/2015 02:36

Thanks guys. I'm seeing the GP on Thursday to find out what the next step should be. If I take soy again this cycle I'd need to start on Wednesday and I'm just not sure whether to do it. I guess it's not likely to have significant side-effects but I also wonder whether it's worth having a 'clean slate' when starting to talk to doctors.

Frolic, I'd be interested to know what vitamins you took. I need to replenish my stock of Folic acid and Vit D (that's all I'm on) anyway so I can always take a look.

GoodEggMightMaterialiseAnytime · 20/01/2015 09:18

Sorry the soy hasn't worked for you this month Mamapo. I considered soy earlier on this thread to lengthen my lp but was recommended to try Agnus Castus by someone which I have now been taking for 3 months. The first month my lp was 2 days longer but then since then has gone back to 8 days. I have also added in B complex with 50mg B6 this month following a positive outcome from pp MrsB354. I don't know whether it's done the trick but il report back.
FC for all.
