For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Hi all, hopping back on here as AF duly arrived yesterday. Will take soy CD4-8 and try a higher dose of 150mg each day this month. Apart form that I'm determined to relax a bit and not temp or use opks, though I'm not sure yet how I'm going to manage it...

Yorkshirewifeandmummy · 27/12/2014 09:32

Hi all. This is a fantastic thread. I've done a lot of reading up on si, and decided to give it a go this month. I have a lp defect and don't ovulate regularly. Anyway, after using on days 3-7, for one month, I got my bfp this morning (albeit feint) on an ic, at 13dpo. Feeling anxious, excited, scared, lotdsof different emotions.

LoopyLa · 28/12/2014 16:54

I'm back.

I've got my AF after a cp so getting back on the Soy horse. Might try a lower dose though this time, my cp has made me a bit wary Hmm

Disney how are you doing?

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 28/12/2014 17:32

Still holding in there. Lines getting darker on frer and cb digital ticked over to say 2-3 weeks which has never happened for me before so I'm relieved that my hcg level seems to be rising, which it didn't with my last 2 pregnancies. The last week has been hell for me and an absolute struggle. I'm still only 4weeks 3days I think. Going to see the midwife early on Tuesday as I've been recommended for an early scan this time at about 7 weeks. I'm so scared.

Good luck this cycle Loopy

Hello all. I'm jumping on to ask you wise women some advice. I'm ttc #2, conceived almost immediately with #1. This time we've been trying for about 8 cycles with no luck.

My cycle is usually 24 days, with occasional 26 day cycles. I ovulate consistently on cd14 or cd15, so my lp is on the short side at 9 days.

I have decided to give soy a go, partly due to my age (36). I have managed to find some soy which comes in 50mg doses. Having looked at the info in this thread, it seems that taking soy on days 3-7 would be best. Can anyone advise on dosage?

Today is cd2 so any quick advice would be appreciated! Thank you.

Frolicacid · 29/12/2014 09:04

mama, I took 100mg soy days 3-7 in November. Mainly to strengthen my eggs due to being almost 35. I got my BFP 11 dpo. It was only our 4th cycle, so I can't be sure it was the soy. I did have really strong ovulation signs, so I think it is work. Good luck to you.

I hope everyone else is doing ok? Now are you feeling disney and new? All good I hope? I am sick, constipated and have very sore boobs! But I'm very happy.

MaMaPo · 29/12/2014 09:51

Thanks frolic! I'd be very happy with your outcome. If no joy this next cycle were off to see the gp

MrsB354 · 02/01/2015 12:08

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining in.

Been reading through this thread and found it very interesting.

Congrats to all the BFPs so far :D

My story: I've been ttc #2 for 31 cycles. Started ttc after DS stopped BFing at 7 months. He is now 3 years old and not even a slight hint of a BFP.

My cycles took, what seems forever, to get back to something that even resembles 'normal'.

Tried Vitex for a year and nothing. Was suffering from a LP of just 8/9 days.

For the last 3 cycles I have been taking SI, B-complex and B6. My LP is now 13/14 days.

Still no sign of a BFP though.

Today I am on CD 14. CDs 12 and 13 saw a temp rise, then today on CD14 my temp went down.

Hoping that it starts going up from tomorrow.

Anyhoo, hope you all have had a great new year and looking forward to hopefully seeing some 2015 BFPs!

Lauraqc · 07/01/2015 22:34

Hello MrsB and good luck! It sounds like the SI helped you to lengthen the LP by bringing ov fwd? Fx you see results soon!

Well I'm having my first cycle since Aug 14 (day 3 today) so have excitingly taken my first 120mg dose of SI tonight! Yay! Really hope it gives me a good strong ov and kicks my cycle into a bit more regularity!

pocopearl · 07/01/2015 22:41

gl lauraqc i am currently on 2ww for first time trying soy

MaMaPo · 08/01/2015 03:07

Can I ask some advice from the experienced soy-ers on this thread?

I took soy for the first time this cycle, CD3-7 (100, 100, 100, 150, 200mg). Because we've been away on holiday there has been no DTD for us (staying in other people's tiny houses and sharing a room with a toddler is not conducive to conceiving!).

Yesterday was CD11 and I tested using my Clear Blue Advanced monitor, and got a Low reading. This was just what I expected, and I usually get a couple of highs on day 12 and 13 then peak on day 14 and 15, ovulating on day 15.

Today is CD12 and I got a peak already! I also have some EWCM which is slightly more watery than normal, but definitely egg-whitey. Is this what one should expect using soy - a possible rapid increase in LH? We feel a bit wrong-footed and are planning to DTD tonight, and probably tomorrow morning and night and then daily until I get my temp rise.

Just wanted to ask if I should be surprised by such a rapid Peak reading on an ovulation test, and whether soy should bring ov forward by around 2 days.

Metalhead · 08/01/2015 08:23

I've only had one cycle using it but had a similar experience to you. I usually get 2-3 days of +opks, but that month I had only one very strong positive, which was also one day earlier I'd ever had before.

TestNamePleaseIgnore · 08/01/2015 08:36

Advice:

Second cycle taking the soy but this month I used a new brand.

Took 150 mg and about thirty minutes later I started getting a pain in my foot which began swelling and I had to go a&e as I couldn't walk on it.

They have no idea what it is. I don't know if it is linked or a coincidence.
Anyone had anything similar?

MrsB354 · 08/01/2015 19:22

How is everyone getting on?

I'm currently in the TWW at 6dpo. Hate waiting!

pocopearl · 08/01/2015 22:37

same as you MrsB when are you testing? I can't handle the wait anymore

Frolicacid · 09/01/2015 08:57

Hi mama.
Soy bought my ovulation forward both times that I took it. I didn't use a cbfm, so not sure about high's and peak's. My ic opk's had really strong lines both times so I do wander if it boosted my surge.
Good luck to you, I hope you get a little soy bean.

MaMaPo · 09/01/2015 11:39

Thanks frolic - I hope so too! Hopefully we have a chance even though we've only dtd twice in my fertile period this cycle. Only need one little swimmer, I guess! I've noticed my sex drive increased too- anyone else?

MadamG · 09/01/2015 11:48

I took one day's worth of soy this month, and had a positive opk the following day! The positive only lasted for a few hours then trailed off. I took it on day 4 of my cycle, as I'm quite old I wanted to increase the egg quality. I'm a bit spooked out. I normally ovulate on day 13, reasonably regular cycles so I'm not sure I should use soy. Any thoughts?

MrsB354 · 09/01/2015 18:50

Pocopearl - going to try and hold out until the 16th (14dpo), as long as af doesn't show up before then.

Used to spot around 8/9 dpo so have a LP defect, but taking B6 has helped.

What about you?!

I'm taking progesterone cream so if I get a BFN, I can stop the cream to allow af to show.

Half way through this TWW :) we can do this!!!!

GoodEggMightMaterialiseAnytime · 10/01/2015 00:17

Hello again everyone. I'm following all of your soy experiences with interest.
2nd month of Agnus Castus and I was back at 8 day lp so that first month was just a coincidence.
MrsB354 you seem to have had success with lengthening your lp which is amazing. Can you tell me what amounts and days you have been taking the B vitamins, the soy and the progesterone cream? Fingers crossed this does the trick for you! At this point for me it would be an achievement to get a full 2 weeks wait!
Hoping to see some more soy bfp's for you ladies.

MrsB354 · 10/01/2015 20:00

Hi Goodegg. I used to take Angus catus but it didn't work for me.

I take 200mg of SI cds 3-7, all cycle I take 100mg of B6 and B-complex.

I use one pump of progesterone cream in the morning and one pump in the evening once I have confirmed O, so usually starting at 4dpo.

The B6 and B-complex worked amazingly in regards to my LP. I do take the highest dosage and I know most start lower and up the dosage later in the days used.

Fingers crossed you find something to help you. It's taken about 30 cycles to get the vitamins right.

x

GoodEggMightMaterialiseAnytime · 11/01/2015 00:22

Thanks MrsB I really hope all the work pays off soon for you. I have read so many things from people with short LP's and never come across someone who has successfully extended theirs by anything more than one or two days until now.
I'm going to add in the B Vits straight away and reconsider the soy. I have read that you shouldn't take both AC and soy, have you ditched the AC?
What progesterone cream do you use?
Sorry for all the questions! I'm just so excited to have found someone with real success with this. Grin

MaMaPo · 11/01/2015 05:00

So weird things afoot this cycle, first using soy. I usually have ovulation confirmed by temp rise on day 15, but this month got peak readings on CBFM on day 12. DTD day 12 and 13. I'm now on day 15 and no rise as yet. So no real idea what is going on. FF had tentatively placed ov at day 13 but cancelled that with today's low temp. But I had ewcm around day 12/13 and nothing now, just sticky/watery cm.

Bah. It would be just my luck to get an anovulatory cycle my first month of trying soy.

Frolicacid · 11/01/2015 17:25

mama, I had a really funny cycle in November. Was convinced it was going to be anovulatory due to a slow temp rise. It all worked out in the end though!!
Here is a pic of my chart - it never looked like that before, usually I got an immediate rise. Have you had any other on signs? I had shitloads of chin spots, which is a sure one for me.
I have everything crossed for you.

For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones
Frolicacid · 11/01/2015 17:26

On signs = ov signs
