For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 23/10/2014 21:18

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

No af for me yet and I think 14dpo so I might still be in the game. If it's not here by this evening I will test again in the morning.

Congratulations loopy

BobsyBoo · 24/11/2014 14:02

Congratulations Loopy Flowers

How long were you TTC for?

I'm really letting this thread down 2nd cycle of Soy & AF is here again for the 22nd cycle of TTC. I'm going to increase my dose this cycle. If I took 200mg for all 5 days could that do more harm than good do you think?

If it doesn't work this time then I think it's time to accept I have secondary infertility. I'd really like to adopt but it's OH that is not keen.

LoopyLa · 24/11/2014 14:05

Ok my stats:-

I'm dpo 13 (and been testing since dpo 9, doh!) Blush
Cycle 2, but 1st on Soy
Age 37
Took SI 3-7 because of my age & I ovulated late (& cycles ranged from 25-33 days). Seemed to bring it forward from cd19 to cd16.
Took 120, 120, 160, 160, 200.
No side effects as far as I could tell except for a lack of cm throughout my cycle - apart from the one day I got ewcm!

No noticeable pg symptoms to be honest, even the bloated feeling disappeared after a few hours. I was extremely pmt-ish in my moods, spotty, all the usual AF signs. The only possible symptom has been a horrible cold that's come on literally overnight - apparently nasal congestion etc can be a sign of early pregnancy (who knew?!). However having said that my dc#1 has been full of cold too so could be coincidence Hmm and I've caught it off him.

LoopyLa · 24/11/2014 14:08

BobsyBoo, can I ask how old you are & if you've been to GP? Sorry if impertinent! Blush

BobsyBoo · 24/11/2014 15:19

I'm 38 Loopy I had a scan earlier this year & blood tests a few months ago, they can't find anything wrong. My GP won't do anymore as she says its down to my age Sad

Frolicacid · 24/11/2014 19:28

I am also spotty new, but usually only around ovulation. Today I have whoppers on my forehead, cheeks and chin. Blush

I have had really strong pains in what feels like my left ovary today. I'm only on day 7, so not really sure what it means. I hope it means the follicles are warming up to realease a lovely big strong christmas egg!

LoopyLa · 24/11/2014 19:54

When's your usual ov day Frolic, if you have one?

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 24/11/2014 20:12

I'm out, started spotting right on time, af is here. Going to pub to have a drink since my body is still my own. I'm not as upset or disappointed as I usually am, I gave it all I could this month.

Congrats Loopy! Another soybean.

I'm 11dpo up in here. Have done FRER on 7, 8 and 9 dpo, all BFN and a CB digi today as it's all I had in the house and my ICs haven't come! NOT PREGNANT came up, it's very bleak I much prefer squinting at an imaginary line for hours and fishing it out the bin for a couple of days.

Have one FRER left but convinced I'm out. Will try v hard not to use it before 14 dpo as otherwise I'll just have to buy more. Boobs feel fine and they are always sore, every cycle, so that sucks. Have some dark yellow CM today which normally turns into brown CM then into AF 14dpo. So not hopeful.

LoopyLa · 24/11/2014 20:48

Boys step away from them sticks! Grin CBO digital isn't as sensitive as FRERs anyway so if it's early days, not preggers is what it'll show unfortunately. Don't discount yourself yet, I'm 13 dpo & I've been peeing for 4 days without a sniff of a line until today.

if you do, however, want to stock up on sensitive HPTs, Superdrug are good - cheap & one of the most sensitive out there x

NewEraNewMindset · 24/11/2014 22:19

I'm pretty much counting myself out too. No good symptoms, a little bit of creamy cm this morning but ever since I've been totally dry which is never a good sign for me.

I've stropped around the place but I'm starting to focus on next cycle now and I'm wondering whether to take 80 80 120 120 120 or 80 80 80 120 120 or just get some 50mg tablets off the net and take 100mg every day.

Frolicacid · 24/11/2014 22:30

I usually ovulate around day 18-21 loopy. I took soy last cycle and it came forward to day 14. Hopefully I will do similar this time. I did an opk earlier and it was negative. We are away this weekend, so a well timed egg would be perfect!

Sorry you are out disney. I hope you enjoyed the pub - I like your style, nothing better than a drink to welcome AF if it insists on showing up!

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 24/11/2014 23:41

Thank you Frolic.

I'm unsure about whether to try soy again. It just felt like it delayed ovulation slightly for me.

Confirmed with a CB Digital this morning ladies, I have a soy bean Smile

Feel a bit sad that no-one else is joining me yet so I may just lurk a while if that's ok. It would be good to get some more positive stats on this thread! Smile

Fx everyone, and lots of Cake

LoopyLa · 25/11/2014 05:55

That GPs attitude really annoys me BobsyBoo, there should be more in place for those TTC & 35+. Plenty of woman don't go through menopause until they're in their 50's so you could have lots of child bearing years left in you yet!

Good luck!

NewEraNewMindset · 25/11/2014 06:41

My problem is also secondary infertility. Conceived easily when I just turned 37, then breast fed for a year so didn't start ovulating again until I stopped which was on the brink of my 39th birthday. Two miscarriages this year and here I am on the brink of my 40th birthday and wondering where my fertile years went.

If I hadn't breast fed (which wasn't an option as I adored it and didn't want to stop at all), then I suspect I would have two children right now.

Nordicmom · 25/11/2014 09:58

Hi! Been lurking since I first wrote here. Congrats on the BFP Loopy and sorry about bfn and afs to others . Haven't quite read through yet but I will .
Have just entered my first 2ww on soy should be interesting .
Not holding much hope with my miserable history of secondary infertility trying for our second child and now 10 m of trying and 4 cp . I guess I feel this is the last option for me before IVF. Took soy 3-7 100,100,150,200,200

LoopyLa · 25/11/2014 18:18

Hi NordicMum, what dpo are you?

Frolicacid · 25/11/2014 21:11

Just popping in quickly to say sorry some of you are feeling down Flowers. We haven't been trying a that long, but with my 35th birthday looming I am getting more worried a the time. We spent so long actively peeventig and thinking we didn't want kids. I just hope I won't be kick myself for 'was sting' those years.

Anyway, on a brighter note, I have managed to take soy days 3-7 of this cycle without any headaches or migranes. I took 4 days of 100mg and 150mg for the last dose. I had some strong pain in my ovaries yesterday, so hopefully there are a few follicles on the go for a nice, strong egg.

Nordicmom · 26/11/2014 09:29

I'm 2 dpo loopy I think . With soy only really noticed a headache the first few days but with my chronic illness I'm pretty much always feeling unwell in someway so wouldn't notice unless really bad anyway ... Took it in the evening .

TinkerBlue · 26/11/2014 20:22

I posted on here a couple of weeks ago as this is my first cycle on soy. To keep you all updated it sadly didn't bring me my BFP as AF arrived today. On the plus side it shortened my cycle by one day from 30 to 29 which is a small win but not really significant. The massive plus is the lack of PMS this month! I'm not sure if this is down to soy at all, but I usually suffer massively with moods for a good week before af. This time nothing until this morning. Just wanted to share with you guys as I know from my own experience that 1st hand accounts of using SI are helpful. Good luck to all.

NewEraNewMindset · 26/11/2014 20:32

Sorry about AF Tinker but you sound really upbeat which is lovely. I sobbed over my acupuncturist today which was nice and embarrassing. Very much needed though as the tears were just under the surface and I do feel better for it. I really have struck gold finding her, she is just the warmest lady and the appnt includes a therapy type session beforehand so stretches 90 minutes in all for £40 which is much better than I've found elsewhere.

Anyhow 11dpo today. Every sign is AF will arrive on Sunday, nothing I can do bar wait.

artylady14 · 26/11/2014 20:53

I am another thinking maybe I wont use the soya isoflavones next month. I tried them for the first time this cycle from day 4-8. The tablets definitely dried up my cervical mucus which, with my irregular cycles, was another clear indicator of when I was ovulating and good days for trying. I am now also 4dpo and having strangely low temperatures hovering just abouve the cover line which I have never seen before. Feeling very fedup!

Frolicacid · 26/11/2014 21:57

that hapoened to me last cycle with soy tinker. i had none of my usual pre-af cramiping, sore boobs or mood swings. i was worried about low progesterone, but it was wuite nice!

your accupuncturist spunds fab new. defo on my list of things to do if i dont get a bfp soon.
