For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 23/10/2014 21:18

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

Hi,

I've been reading this thread for a little while & wondered if any of you could answer any questions for me please?

I am having a really bad day so please bear with me.. I am on cd54 with no signs of ovulation. This can be normal for me length of cycle wise. I am starting to get desperate for a positive OPK and completely obsessed. I would even settle for AF now because I feel this cycle has just been completely useless and could start again.

I started a course of acupuncture this week but these things take time and have booked 3 months worth where I hope to see an improvement. But I need something NOW. I'm not even asking for a BFP now, just something...

I wonder if I bought SI today and took the for 5 days - would I get any effect from it? God knows when AF will make an appearance so I am struggling to wait until then.

I currently have quite sore boobs and have done for about 5 days along with a break out in my skin - I just think this is stress related. I have of pg tested with cb digi and just got a BFN.

Sorry to ramble but does anyone think this will work? Tia x

Boysclothes · 16/11/2014 15:07

I don't think that would work. If anything taking it so late in the cycle might make it even longer.

You can get something from GP (norethisterone?) to induce a period or even the MAP might work. But you'd have to be so so sure you're not pregnant and not about to ovulate and make the whole 54 days pointless.

I'm sorry, been there with 49 day cycles and they were frustrating enough, and at least I knew my period was coming on day 49. Feel horrible for you. Have you seen docs?

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 16/11/2014 15:13

Thanks for reply boys I will leave it for now.

I have seen GP and had all blood tests and come back 'normal' - I don't understand how this can be if I'm not ovulating. I've been known to have cycles 90 days +band I just feel so useless. Seems like I just have to wait and see what happens with acupuncture.. Not sure GP will induce bleed - at first she was very proactive and now she is kind of like 'try for a few more months' and seems to have lost interest. A few months for me is only one cycle. As much as I would hate the disappointment of AF every month, at least I could start afresh with new hope. Such a bad day today sorry :(

Boysclothes · 16/11/2014 15:19

That sounds incredibly frustrating. Have you been trying long? I would be back to GP when this cycle ends and be quite firm about a referral to a gynae. Have you had a scan to look at your ovaries?

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 16/11/2014 15:37

Soooo frustrating. I have only been actively trying for this cycle. I have been trying to start trying since last November but I had a coil that had been lost and no GP or gynae could get it out until beginning of September this year. a private gynae finally removed my very stubborn coil and told me that due to my cycle, I would have less than 1% chance of conception, 3 weeks following that, we found that my DH had a barely recognisable sperm count. Following this, we massively changed his diet and had an old injury looked at. He then produced another sample. His count had gone up to 10.5 million with 71% motility and 36.5 morphology. I realised that during this time, I had put my problems to one side... I was too busy 'fixing' him.

During removal of my coil, gynae scanned my ovaries and didn't suggest any problems, no cysts or anything.

GP referred me to gynae last week and am now at the back of an 8 month queue. Why does everything take so much time?!

GoodEggMightMaterialiseAnytime · 16/11/2014 17:55

Again, thanks for the pointers girls. I feel so clueless!

soloman I have looked at a few studies on Pubnet and the findings are generally positive so I think I will give it a try. Most people seem to recommend taking it from cd1 to ov but I'm not really sure how much to take. Any advice? I will also be rocking up to the GP on Monday armed with my charts.

new my cycles are regular 28 days anyway but will get some B6 too. Do you take that all cycle long?

Sorry about the bfn frolic at least the soy had the effect on your ov day that you wanted so that is a positive step.

SolomanDaisy · 16/11/2014 17:59

I've always taken it through out. I don't recall any of the studies suggesting stopping at ovulation, though it is widely mentioned on forums! I take 100mg. Good luck with it and the doctor!

GingerbreadHead · 16/11/2014 18:35

Hi Lindsay! If you have a read back to page 4 I posted a load of information on when to take soy and how much and how that affects things. I think the general consensus is if you take it on the earlier days it will bring ov forward, but it has done the opposite effect on some ladies! It might be worth you trying it out on cd3-7, middle of the road, at a low dose, maybe 100 or 120 mg each day and just see how that affects things with your cycle. Especially if you and DH are thinking of taking a bit of a back seat over Xmas it could be a good time to experiment! I took it 100mg each day cd4-8 and I ov'd on cd15, which is earlier than my average of cd17. Oh, I also took EPO this cycle, I think the recommended dose is 1500mg a day up until ov.
frolic sorry about the bfn. Bloody rubbish.
boys good luck and have fun with all that testing! Smile

NewEraNewMindset · 16/11/2014 21:09

Yep I take 100mg b6 across the cycle and it's fine. I have taken 3000mg EPO this cycle but didn't notice any good change in my CM unfortunately. I suppose there was a lot more watery CM but not EWCM.

Frolicacid · 16/11/2014 21:34

Thanks gingerbread. I'm trying not to wallow. Still no sign of AF. I was 4 days late last month and I may lose my sanity if that happens again!

I think I'll go for it again with the soy next cycle, but maybe do a lower dose.

Boysclothes · 17/11/2014 14:11

Forgot to say I had EWCM this month that was brown/pink tinged. Quite a few days of it, in fact I thought AF was coming. I have NEVER had before in all the days I TTC DS and all the time I've been TTCing this time. Anyone else had this with soy?

NewEraNewMindset · 17/11/2014 14:27

I had brown/pink tinged EWCM when I was implanting on 10dpo. I'm assuming this didn't happen at a time when it could be implantation?

Boysclothes · 17/11/2014 14:29

No, definitely not, it was inbetween days 20-32 on and off. Weird.

Boysclothes · 17/11/2014 14:31

I'm 4dpo now. Not sure whether carry on temping? Had my crosshairs etc and it is a slight faff. But would be good to know if temps stay high.

NewEraNewMindset · 17/11/2014 14:51

Boys, depends on whether you are going to get stressed about it. I found that if I knew I was going to be taking an important temp in the morning I struggled to sleep properly that night. It became too big a thing in my mind.

I'm actually feeling a bit rubbish about this cycle now after initially being upbeat. My temps are a mess, up and down with a sustained shift two days before my positive opk. But worse is I have no cm at all now. If I am 2dpo I would normally have creamy cm but there is nothing happening at all. Concerned that either I haven't ovulated or my progesterone is horribly low.

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 17/11/2014 18:36

I'm about 6-7 dpo and had a bit of spotting today. Really hoping it's an implantation bleed. I don't normally spot.

Disney that sounds potentially bloody exciting!!!!

LoopyLa · 17/11/2014 18:57

Disney that does sound promising!

I'm 6dpo & have 0 symptoms going on...wish I could fast forward a week! Hmm

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 17/11/2014 19:17

I know but I can't let myself get excited because I can't quite believe it. Incredibly worried that it might be pre af spotting caused by soy and that she's going to come early. I'm thinking I may test early tomorrow Thursday at 10dpo. It's taking all my strength not to poas now but it's be pointless.

Boysclothes · 17/11/2014 19:19

Oh new, don't be too despondent. Even if the cycle is wasted, it still is only one cycle and the good news about cycles is there is always another one following behind! I think there's always a whisper of doubt when taking new tablets "have I been stupid taking this pill unprescribed and unregulated?" and a touch of guilt too at daring to fiddle about. But the truth is even if soy really hasn't agreed with you it will all come out in the next AF x

Boysclothes · 17/11/2014 19:20

Exciting disney! I wonder if soy makes us more vascular somehow? I had brown/pink this month which I never have.

Boysclothes · 17/11/2014 19:21

(Oh and obviously you should POAS!! Maybe an OPK to give you a hint?)

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 17/11/2014 19:22

It is really strange and I've had more cm but I was taking evening primrose before ovulation.

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 17/11/2014 19:23

I'm totally gonna poas of some sort tomorrow. I have no self control.
