For anyone TTC or thinking about TTC with Soy Isoflavones

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 23/10/2014 21:18

I will be starting soy isoflavones tomorrow, cd 3.

This will be my 11th cycle TTC, with two chemical pregnancies/ early miscarriages @ about 5weeks so far this year already.

I've read up quite a lot on SI, and just at the point now where I'm thinking, what the hell, I'll give it a go!

Anybody else TTC with soy isoflavones?

I took soya isoflavones for the first time this month, from days 4-8, to try and shorten my cycle which had gone up to 40 days (messed up by norethisterone I took for my wedding overseas last month). I am on Day 17 and not really sure that I have ovulated. My cm seems to be dried up and I wonder if the soya isoflavones are the reason for this? I had several days of watery cm and was expecting ewcm but it seems to be going the other way today (sorry if tmi). I have been doing my opks and they are negative and even the new CBFM just shows me High days. I am not sure if the soya isoflavones are meant to work right away? I have felt no benefit so far.

Frolicacid · 17/11/2014 20:14

That sounds promising disney! Fx for you.
Still no af or BFP for me. 16/17 dpo tomorrow so AF should arrive. My temp took another dive this am so I'm convinced it's on it's way. Had decided to sack everything off for a cycle over December, but fuck it, I'm going to try again with the soy, keep up the temping and opk's. I think the not really trying might make me feel more crazy and less in control than the really trying. Will take a lower spy dose days 5-9 to support my egg but hopefully not cause migraines.

NewEraNewMindset · 17/11/2014 22:20

Creamy cm for me this evening so feeling a bit calmer Smile

FX for those POAS soon. I want more BFPs so I can get some hope for us long term triers xx

LoopyLa · 18/11/2014 06:48

Good luck Disney, and to anyone poas-ing, please post your bfp pic if you get one! Grin

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 07:19

Argh my fertility monitor fucked me over this morning by stating it didn't detect ovulation in my fertile window so it wants me to keep going basically.

I'm not surprised as there was a weird low temp a couple of days ago and it made me wonder whether the previous temps were kept artificially high by my ill health.

I guess I shall have to wait and see.

Boysclothes · 18/11/2014 08:44

What sort of fertility monitor do you have New? And do you have a chart you want to share (nosiness reasons mostly although I have been charting a long time!)

Metalhead · 18/11/2014 08:57

Ah that's annoying new! Fx your monitor is wrong and you ov'd when you thought you did.

disney any news?

arty I took soy the same days this cycle for the first time and it brought my ov forward slightly but if your opks have all been negative then I guess you'll just have to keep on going. Fx it won't be too long.

I'm actually taking noresthisterone as well at the moment to delay AF until the end of the week (was due yesterday) so I can have the 3d scan on Thursday when I see the Asherman's specialist. I really want to know one way or another now if I've got it, but at the same time I'm dreading being proved right Sad.

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 09:08

Metal really hope your scan proved you are absolutely fine xx

It's called OvuSense and works using a probe that you wear in your fanjo overnight and then it tells you stuff in the morning. Annoyingly it doesn't translate into a chart I can share on a screen Sad

My cm has changed to creamy so it's not total doom and gloom. I'm just concerned that's all.

Boysclothes · 18/11/2014 09:13

I've heard so many miracle stories regarding ashermans, Metalhead (I'm a midwife so hear millions of conception stories). Sorry if that's irritating! But it's the truth - couldn't conceive, couldn't hold on to a baby, ashermans diagnosed, a few snips later...

New, that sounds great (and weird!). It is so so frustrating not knowing exactly what's happening. I don't understand why men have gone to the moon and they STILL haven't invented Looks Who's Talking style internal cameras so we can watch all our inner workings live, in technicolor and in well lit conditions, and magnified, preferably with commentary from sperm and egg. I imagine it projected onto the bedroom ceiling.

Boysclothes · 18/11/2014 09:16

For my own part I'm a bit worried. 5dpo, decent temp rise but no sore boobs as I would normally have. Still lots of watery CM and high hard cervix. Had high hopes for this month, sort of feel I "deserve" it as I've finally dumped the cigarettes, taken soy and had that ectopic. Feel like I've done my bit now and it's time for the universe to pony up on their end of the deal.

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 09:40

Ouch Boys, that must be a difficult profession to be in if you are struggling to conceive? Or is it a case of getting the job done and leaving emotions at the door?

If I ovulated on cd13 I am 3 dpo today. Seems ridiculous that I could test in 7 days time. This cycle has raced by this month for some reason.

I have my sons second birthday tomorrow and then DP has his sperm sample being taken on Thursday. They reckon we should get results within a week. I'm nervous about it as he had to take week mess for his MS. It sort of makes sense in my head that this wi have impacted his swimmers but I could be totally wrong.

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 09:41

*he has to take weekly meds.
My phone ALWAYS thinks it knows best!!

Boysclothes · 18/11/2014 09:44

Emotions at the door, reminding myself their baby doesn't impact on my chance to have a baby, and feeling hopeful because so many people have more problems/try for longer/lose more than me and are there having their babies. A combination of the above usually works but occasionally I have a tough day. I had a day last week where every woman who came in was in their second, easily conceived child with a two year gap and that was tough.

Metalhead · 18/11/2014 09:48

Thanks boys, not irritating at all, in fact that's really good to hear! There isn't much info out there on Asherman's, and the little I've seen is pretty doom and gloom, so it's good to hear that it doesn't have to be the end of the road.

Good on you for giving up the fags, hopefully you'll get your reward in the form of a BFP soon.

new my DH's results took two weeks to come back as the lab sent them by second class post! I hope yours come back quicker. Also happy birthday to little new for tomorrow, I hope you all have a lovely day celebrating.

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 09:52

Aww thank you Grin. We are celebrating with his little cousins which should be cute.

Disney any updates??

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 18/11/2014 11:15

I poas this morning but nothing, but it's only 8dpo and an ic so I really wasn't expecting anything. Will be testing again on Thursday or Friday I think.

OP posts:
NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 11:18

I think it's extremely rare to get a BFP at 8dpo. The earliest I ever tested positive was the evening of 9 dpo. Then it was so faint I actually threw it away and only relooked at it when I got a faint BFP the following morning.

They also say you generally have to wait two days after implantation for a test to show positive.

Good luck!! Grin

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 18/11/2014 18:47

I've just been to boots for some decent tests, just got two double packs of frer on offer buy one get one free. Thought I'd share.

OP posts:
Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 18/11/2014 18:51

I might be symptom spotting a bit, but so far I've had a bit of spotting yesterday at 7dpo and since then and all today my skin has been itching like mad. Both unusual for me.

Frolicacid · 18/11/2014 21:49

AF arrived for me today, so no soy bean this cycle!
I'm going to try again this month as I'm pleased soy seems to have bought my ovulation forward by 5 days and my cycle down from 35 to 29 days. I might not up the dose from 100 to see if that stops the migraines.
Fx for all of you still waiting.

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 22:36

An sorry Frolic. I'll be with you keeping you company soon enough xx

Disneylandkilledmychildhood · 18/11/2014 22:53

Flowers for you Frolic. Fx for your new cycle.

OP posts:
Frolicacid · 18/11/2014 23:26

Thanks ladies! I am feeling much jollier now AF is here - fresh cycle and all of that. Temping had warned me with a dip yesterday and this morning, so it wasn't an unexpected visit. I'm really pleased to have got my cycle down by almost a week, I just hope I can keep it that way.

Fx you won't be joining me soon new. I hope your son has a lovely birthday.

NewEraNewMindset · 19/11/2014 07:46

Well a nice birthday surprise was my fertility monitor telling me this morning that I did indeed ovulate on Saturday - cd13!! So the soy added a day onto my cycle which is pretty bloody clever.

Next month I am going to take 100mg a day I think Grin praying there won't be a next month obviously

LoopyLa · 19/11/2014 08:39

Dying to know if you've POAS yet Disney? Grin

I'm thinking the same NewEra, I'll do soy again but only 80-120 mg if I'm out this month.
