The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

I wish I knew more to offer some kind if thoughts or advice monten I might begin temping in the NY when my hcg has gone and I've had another AF. It'll be interesting.

Next bloods are Wednesday morning. Just a waiting game I guess now.

daisysunshine2 · 03/11/2014 11:55

I'm the same, going with temping if no BFP by Christmas (scary that's only 2 cycles away!) as I had symptoms twice last month but stronger on the 19th/20th so wonder if my body tried to ovulate but didn't around the 12th.
chasing good luck for Wednesday, waiting game sucks :(

charlieis30 · 03/11/2014 14:41

daisy just wondering why you're not just temping from now? I don't find it much of a hassle, peeing on OPKs is much more annoying to me! I use fertilityfriend to track, and bought a 2 decimal point thermometer on amazon. It's pretty much habit to take my temp each morning now! I wake up slightly different times each AM so it's a little bit off but I can normally see pretty clear patterns.

I've had a perfect month, DTD-wise. Managed to go every day in the run-up to ov. Going to be so disappointed if it doesn't work this month! 2WW commences...

daisysunshine2 · 03/11/2014 15:00

charlie I'm not temping just because it feels like I'll get even more obsessed with the whole thing once I do.. I know I'll wonder if my temps are correct, what do they mean, etc etc. I have considered it and maybe I will just go for it... Already have a thermometer but I just don't want to get really scientific about it all! Think I'm still desperately clinging to the it will happen when it's right to happen but have to admit am getting very very frustrated which won't help either!

flickyhairredlippy · 03/11/2014 15:34

So I'm just wondering with the whole temping thing. I'm usually up 1-2 times per night with the small one. I'm not sure it would be accurate!?

northdownmummy · 03/11/2014 16:33

I totally understand worrying about becoming (more) obsessed. I'm going to start with sticks this month, feels a bit like giving up on the nice romantic ideal.
I have quite a controlling/ obsessive/unorganised personality anyway so it'll be a real struggle to keep some perspective

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/11/2014 16:50

That's what I was worried about Flicky, and why I didn't bother.

charlieis30 · 03/11/2014 19:03

i dont have kids but i do travel a lot for work so sometimes its a bit whacky but i do normally see a pretty clear pattern. plus ff doesnt "count" the temps it thinks are off in one way or another. i can relate to the obsession thing, i didnt temp between mcs1 and 2 as dh felt it was making me crazy.

Monten · 03/11/2014 19:29

Thanks ladies - who knows. I'll just jump DP tonight too. Poor bugger, hope he's up to it because I might have to wrestle him if not

I'm tempted by temping. Does it make a noise? Not sure what my DP would think. He already thinks I'm a nutter after catching me peeing into a jam jar the other morning.

Brummiegirl15 · 03/11/2014 19:52

I can't face temping. I worry it would make me even more obsessed.

So is it worth taking soy? I ovulate really early so not sure it's for me to be honest.

I'm on cd 4 today and will start using the sticks on Wednesday cd 6 so here we go again.

On another note work have offered me paid for counselling to help me come to terms with the 2 MC. Makes me realise how lucky I am to have such an understanding employer

Boozle80 · 03/11/2014 20:36

I was rubbish at temping - i kept forgetting and talking before taking it!
Just checking in to say hi if that's ok? Hope everyone's doing ok - stupid blooming AF's may they all disappear soon :)

chasingtherainbow · 03/11/2014 20:38

Is there a reason I can't use my normal thermometer?

NewEraNewMindset · 03/11/2014 20:43

chasing it needs to be a BBT thermometer as it is more accurate. A normal thermometer might give you a temp of 37.1, but a BBT would give you 37.15.

If you use your standard thermometer you still might see a shift, but you'll end up with a straight line over days (like I did because I tried to use a normal thermometer myself and couldn't understand why my chart had no real variation across the cycle).

MademoiselleG · 03/11/2014 22:05

Sorry been awol for a while, thread disappeared from my list and just found you all. Lots to catch up on!

Haha monten , yes it does make a noise actually, a very high pitched beeeep when it's ready!
I'm pretty rubbish at temping as I take my temp just whenever I wake up rather than at fixed times. Plus I drink alcohol in the evening (that makes me sound like a member of the AA!) and that influences it massively too apparently. Oh and I wake up a lot during the night. BUT it still shows a shift and last month I totally knew I was out when temp dipped at 10dpo before AF showed up. I mainly use it -casually- to check I do indeed ov as I'm not always convinced paranoid .
As for the soy craze going on, it's really not at all advised to take it if you actually are ovulating normally. I took some last month and although I was happy it made me ov, I had super strong ov pains and it brought my period forward, so it kind of felt like I messed with my body for no good reason. That being said, I kept what's left!

Night night all x

Treaclepie19 · 03/11/2014 22:47

I can't decide about soy. My temps are all over the place and I have a short lp but just can't bear taking things that aren't prescribed. I know I'm crazy.
Anywho, night all x

Since I've no idea how long this mc stuff will last I might as well spend it getting to grips with temping.

Off to amazon I go... any recommendations for thermometer?

Treaclepie19 · 04/11/2014 07:05

I use a geratherm one from amazon x

charlieis30 · 04/11/2014 11:13

it is pink which i find slightly objectionable but it is very fast (i have a 2nd which takes longer before beeping)
dh does think I'm a bit nuts Grin

charlieis30 · 04/11/2014 11:15

and 2nd mademoiselle im not always perfect but i can always tell I've ov'd and normally that af is on her way, i always dip the morning she appears Angry

Cakebaker35 · 04/11/2014 11:15

Hello, I'm an old timer from this thread so not sure if anyone remembers me but I've come back because I always found this thread so supportive and I'm here under different circumstances now but I just needed to share. My beautiful baby boy was born prematurely on 21st October and passed away on 29th October. We are beyond devastated. Having had an mmc of twins in March I felt/hoped lightning couldn't strike twice, but see from so many stories that occasionally it does. We are just utterly devastated and don't even know how we will begin to feel ok again. As I'm an oldie I think it's unlikely now I'll ever re join the ttc club here and also this heartbreak is so unbelievably hard that I think we would be too scared to even try. But that's for the future, for now I'm just so desperately sad and feel so empty. I'm sorry to crash this thread but i feel like I'm stumbling around in the dark at the moment.

I wish you all huge amounts of luck and support with your ttc journeys and please please try not to spend your time worrying. What's happened to us is so unusual.

newbiefrugalgal · 04/11/2014 11:18

Cake so devastating to hear your news. Sending big hugs xx

cloudjumper · 04/11/2014 11:23

cakebaker My heart goes out to you and your DH, how utterly heartbroken you must be. To have come so far and then lose your baby is devastating. I am wishing you lots of strength in this difficult time, and that you have lots of support and help.

Don't try to think of the future, for now you need to get through the present, one day at a time.

xxx
