Quite close to you Mosegirl..I am 6 DPO and feeling so much better than last month. Still got AF aches but alot less than before and no mad mood swings so whatever happens this month I am pleased with that. It has made this waiting bit better for me. AF due on Sunday but got a busy week to take my mind off it.

Oh yes..I agree about the "take your mind of it..it will happen" comment. I know people mean well when they say it but it doesn't help so I PROMISE I will never say it!

Morgan · 04/05/2004 13:08

Hi everyone. Now on CD40 and not pg as done another test today just to be sure - it would happen now when i have my laparoscopy next monday so don't really want af for that - no symptoms at all which is weird but just have to wait and see what happens.

Is it the case that whenever your period starts you ovulated 14 days before as that seems ridiculous with this length of cycle?

futurity · 04/05/2004 13:18

No..not the case Morgan...I only OV 9 days before AF. However I believe that on average most women (however long there cycle) do OV 14 days before AF. The only way to tell is by monitoring your body..doing temps or OPK etc.

Azure · 04/05/2004 13:30

Hi everyone - I'm back again after my break. In the time I was away there were 4 BFPs and around 8 new people on this thread! I'm on CD 17, but haven't temp'd or used OPKs this month. OV was probably last weekend, but as I didn't BD at the appropriate time I don't have any expectations this month. Moomin, I can understand about taking a break from TTC obsessing - best of luck. BeckiF, I hope everthing's alright.

gothicmama · 04/05/2004 17:42

Smelly melly Sorry if my last post sounded harsh Iam hormoanal hope this thread is lucky for us all

ChaCha · 04/05/2004 17:45

Hi Azure, it's nice to see you. Think we were both away at around the same time.
Good luck to you, you never know. I'm CD3, really looking forward to this cycle, you just have to!! Had a good break and am feeling positive. If its to be, it will be. What more can i do?
Love to all and much babydust

Moomin · 04/05/2004 19:54

BeckiF - any news?

BeckiF · 04/05/2004 22:41

Hi Moomin - they wanted to tell me to eat more oily fish as my good cholesterol was low and my overall level is 5.8 which is a bit high apparently. Doesn't explain why I still feel like poo though, headache, TATT etc. etc. None the less, I'm back to work tomorrow having been off all last week as well, so that will be a shock to my system.

Ah well, just more sh*te to contend with.

misdee · 04/05/2004 22:53

please please give me some advice now. its been 3months of trying, and nothing. not even a maybe, not even one day late. just want to know any tips, techniques, all this temping, opk etc what it all means.

Azure · 05/05/2004 09:01

BeckiF I'm glad they didn't have anything more serious to tell you, although am sorry you still feel rubbish. Hope work goes ok today.

Misdee, I'm not exactly a good person to give advice as I have failed to conceive myself, but would recommend using OVKs and maybe temping to gain an understanding of your cycle, and in particular when you ovulate. OPKs are an expensive business. Boots sells packs of five, or you could buy Persona (which is what I use and conceived first month with last time, but is a high cost up front). Temping I've had limited success with, but others swear by it. You need to get the special thermometer that measures basal body temperature (Boots sells one in a pack with a book to record your charts, in the same section as OPKs). Your temperature needs to be taken first thing in the morning, before you get out of bed. I would recommend looking at the website www.fertilityfriend.com and downloading a handbook from there - it tells you all you need to know about temping and other signs like cervical mucus. Best of luck.

munchkinsusie · 05/05/2004 09:39

hi there, i'm new on here and just started ttc. been doing the temping thing the last week and a bit (since my last AF) to figure out when i ovulate but my temps are all over the place so far (ranging from 36.2 to 36.7) can anyone tell me if this is normal? what temp do you go up to once you've ovulated? i've read the fertility friend handbook but it doesn't say.
anyway, good luck to everyone!

Azure · 05/05/2004 12:41

Hi there Munchkinsusie. My temps go all over the place as well - my chart was called "Rocky Mountain" by Fertility Friend. Have you entered your information onto the website - the basic membership is free? It calculates the baseline (is that the right word?) and indicates when ovulation may have occured. In the two complete cycles I have charted, my temperature went from 36.3 before ovulation to 36.7 after ovulation, and from 36.2 to 36.5, but the overall range over the period was from 35.6 to 36.8! For me personally, using Persona (i.e. an OPK) was a much better indication of ovulation.

Kay1 · 05/05/2004 21:51

Hi munchkinsusie and misdee - i have also temped and use fertilityfriend to chart temps etc. Although i too have not yet managed to conceive, so still here (!), i have found it so useful in understanding my cycles, checking whether i have ovulated at all and just basically getting to know whats going on with my body - except of course why i'm not getting pg! The handbook on fertiltyrfriend website is also very good with loads of info about temping, but also other signs to look for too. It can't necessarily help you know when you are due to ov - i have found opk's useful for that - but temping for a few cycles does give a good insight into your pattern and highlight any particular problems - good luck with it all.............

futurity · 07/05/2004 08:14

Well my temping this month has been very useful to do showing that after OV my temp slowly rises..reaches a peak..and now is coming down again (in exactly the same temps that it went up in!). So on the evidence I should AF tomorrow but more likely Sunday as predicted (making my lutual length 10 days).

It is so frustrating to watch...I hate my body today Not helped by feeling shattered at waking up at 5.15 every morning for last 2 weeks for no apparent reason. Next month is blood test but I hate things dragging on like this. I imagine the results will take bloody ages to come back..and then the referral will be for about 6 months time probably unless we pay which we will have to do I imagine.

Sorry..waffling on...tired and horomonal!

Azure · 07/05/2004 08:48

Futurity, sorry to hear about expected AF. I hope your test results and possible referral happen a lot quicker than you are anticipating.

gold123 · 07/05/2004 10:27

I am feeling rubbish too today, my AF is due tomorrow - for the last 3 months I have been very hormonal and feel bad almost every day of the month, feeling everything thats going on with my body. Yesterday and today, I feel incredibly sick, sore chest, but really bad period pains, I would like to think that these are PG symptoms but I know they are not, as last month I had them too. Feeling very fed up, so once ds has gone to school this afternoon, I think I will go and do some shopping (avoiding boots and other chemists) I really thought it wouldn't take very long to get PG as my dd/ds came without trying (they weren't planned), it's hard work isn't it ?

gothicmama · 07/05/2004 10:46

Just popped in to sprinkle baby dust - no news good luck all

Azure · 07/05/2004 10:51

It is hard work Gold123. I conceived DS 2nd month of trying. Second time around it took a year to conceive and unfortunately I had a m/c. 6 months later still no joy. Shopping sounds like a very good idea.

Schmozer · 07/05/2004 11:01

Sorry people are having a hard time. I've not had a great week myself - very tired and tearful. Trying not to attribute it to anything as I did that last month with every little symptom and was disappointed. Think it's just overtiredness (if there is such a word!). Also will be 35 on Sunday and am feeling slightly geriatric and wishing I'd decided to ttc five years ago when my consultant told me to. Oh well.

Thanks for the baby dust gothicmama. Good luck to all.

BeckiF · 07/05/2004 13:15

I'm also feeling continually low. Still no AF, so how many says is this now? 209, that's how many!!! Almost long enough to of HAD a baby.

Has anyone else noticed though that there are times when your partners semen doesn't 'flowback' straight away? I'm sure that I read that at your fertile times the semen has an easier path through so that when dp withdraws there's not that sudden rush of it all coming back out. Also read that it is more beneficial if the woman climaxes AFTER dp, and that doggy style or laying on your front are the better positions to help conceiving.

I'd hang out the window if I thought it would work!

Azure · 07/05/2004 13:20

Happy birthday for Sunday, Schmozer. Age is relative - I wish I were 35 again! I hope Gothicmama's baby dust works soon on us all.

Morgan · 07/05/2004 13:46

Hi all - af had now arrived today which is a relief as my lap is on Monday so nearly at end of af. I am going to use OPK this month and see if i get a surge - although dh is away in Dubai from day 10 - 14 of my cycle i still want to see if i get a surge given last two cycles of 23 days and 44 days !!

Babydust to all waiting now and to those feeling low i agtree go shopping - i did that this week and now have losts of things to return but felt better for buying them at the time.

BigBird · 07/05/2004 16:51

Good luck on Monday Morgan.
let us know how it goes.

Schmozer · 07/05/2004 17:15

Yes, good luck from me too. Had a lap myself in 1998 and will be thinking of you on Monday (when I will be relatively young ).

bluestar · 09/05/2004 11:17

I'm back and on CD4 so you guessed it, af arrived for me during my holiday. It was a day early as well, got a bit worried as actually started spotting on day 10 and thought I'd have a short luteul phase but the spotting dragged itself out as usual. Thought I may be pg this month with all the symptoms but on the 1st day of the holiday went down with a horrible 24hr sickness bug and felt awful so I guess the sick feelings were due to a bug lingering in my system. Not too disappointed as was unsure about ttc anyway this month but will be trying extra hard this month! Had a lovely & relaxing holiday too!
