OK so I'm going to start this one off - this will be the luckiest and most reproductive thread ever

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THAT WRITE HERE**

Angeliz · 28/04/2004 20:58

sorry to hear that misdee!
Better luck next month+

Bluestar, i've popped in before but have to admit, i don't understand alot of the lingo and i am at a loss really as to cycles and fertile times. Just starting to get my head round it all. I very naively thought i'd have a baby in November to fit in nicely with our life!! Won't be so assuming in future!!

It's nice to finally say hello though and can see this will be my new interest on mumsnet.

Angeliz · 28/04/2004 20:59

I agree with you about not knowing BTW. These last fe days i'm all teary and so down and i really would have been none the wiser if i hadn't been in such a rush!

sarochka · 28/04/2004 21:42

Sorry to hear that Misdee and Angeliz. I never really thought much about ttc before but now I realise that I am so naive about stuff. I am constantly stressed and have a hectic job as well as everything else - but going to hang on in there and start checking my cycles properly. Do I go from 1st day of next period ?

Corrin · 28/04/2004 22:22

Have just started writing on this today...thought I'd have a look at other stuff that's being talked about...

Am trying for number two after getting pregnant with number 1 the first month of trying...am now at month 4...am not feeling lucky at all...

Kind of good to read others in same boat.

PS - Am totally confused about abbreviaitons you folk use!

bluestar · 29/04/2004 08:55

Sarochka, start with day 1 of period (red blood not spotting) and then you can monitor your cycle length which helps to see if you have regular cycles or not, if you do, it's much easier than those of us with irregular cycles.

Welcome Corrin, nice to see some new faces seeing as some have now graduated to the pregnancy boards! Some quick abbreviations for you:

af= aunt flow as in period
cd= cycle day
dpo= days past ovulation (for those that temp/use ovulation predictor kits)
OPK= ovulation predictor kits
bd/bding= baby dance (as in sex for baby purposes!)
ttc= trying to conceive

Hope this helps

Thanks bluestar, it was wondering what all the abbreviations meant too. Thanks also for the advise about not testing too early, these two weeks will be the longest ever. I already have a feeling that I am not though (stop being so negative) I didn't have to think about dd and ds, they came without trying - I hope I'm proved wrong.

Quick question: cm came Fri/Sat cd 13/14 (last week), pain in my right side Sat (I'm super senstive to my ovulation) BD on Sun/Mon - I think I may have got it the wrong way round and left it too late ?

bluestar · 29/04/2004 10:06

gold123, I think your optimum time for bding would have been Fri/Sat, however, I still think you can have a slight window of opportunity the day after ov, so you never know. I agree that the 2ww (week wait - another abbreviation!) feels so long hence the need to want to test early. I try to keep my mind occupied during this time with some project (like sorting out a holiday, finances) basically anything that can distract me (obviously I do not book a holiday every month!!). However, does it really matter whether you find out if you are pg at 4 weeks, 5 weeks or even 6, seeing as you would be pg for 40 weeks? Sometimes I think the lucky ones are those that don't know they're pg until they are nearly 3 months gone and don't have so much worry!

My temps remain high (6DPO) and usually I get an early dip so hoping that if my temp does want to drop (implantation dip?), it will be in the next few days! Although since I will be out of this country, I am not taking my thermometer so I can relax and enjoy myself without looking for all the possible signs. Still feel sick every day and this morning have a horrible metallic taste - just over a week to go til testing day!

OP posts:
gold123 · 29/04/2004 10:18

I keep saying I have two weeks to go, I have just worked it out and actually its 8 days now (wow where did that time go) I'm so thick !!! Metallic taste and sickness sounds good - isn't it weired how we look forward to feeling sick. Have a nice holiday and I hope you get the result your hoping for next week. Fingers crossed.

smellymelly · 29/04/2004 10:24

Fingers crossed Bluestar - where are you going??

bluestar · 29/04/2004 10:25

If I said "the water in * don't taste quite like it alta" - would that give it away????

OP posts:
bluestar · 29/04/2004 10:32

Oh and gold123, looks like we will be testing at the same time. I can test in 8 days but I won't be home until 9 days, so good luck to both of us.

OP posts:
gold123 · 29/04/2004 10:39

Check in for the results next Sunday then ! have a good holiday, can I come ?

BigBird · 29/04/2004 11:44

Moomin - I didn't have symptoms before getting the +ve with dd either. Just usual AF type cramps.

Good luck

futurity · 29/04/2004 13:30

That's interesting to know BigBird..I was wondering whether AF pains can still occur if you are pregnant. I can't remember from last time whether I got AF pains but this time round I seem much more aware of them and was wondering whether if I was pregnant I wouldn't get them and so I would "know" before AF due that I was pregnant. (sorry..waffling..but you know what i mean!!)

bluestar · 29/04/2004 13:50

I have to say that I was so naive when I got pg with ds. None of this temping lark, can't say I took much notice of af pains either. Sort of remember getting headaches as the only symptoms of pms but now, I can almost run my body blind through a cycle!

OP posts:
gold123 · 29/04/2004 14:42

Futurity - I remember when I was PG with my first - I wasn't very good with dates, so didn't know how late I was, but kept getting AF pains, so often that I kept thinking I can't be PG because I was convinced I was due on anytime. On the day I tested the cramps were really bad and I thought this is a waste of time - I was 6 weeks pregnant. They continued for a little while after that too.

ChaCha · 29/04/2004 17:25

Hi everyone! Big Bird Congrats my friend! I just read the good news now :-) Wow...am excited 4 u.
Start TTC in about 2 weeks time.
See you all then x

Dreams · 29/04/2004 19:23

Hi everyone been reading through this link for a couple of days now and thought i would join in (hope you don't mind) congratulations to everyone who has finally got there really happy for you all. I am now trying for a second baby and have only been trying for one month but has not happened yet I was on the pill before this so need to let that get out of my system first. I had been on the pill with my first and it toke me 3 months before i fell not to long really.
Will let you all know how i get on and will keep reading up to see how you are all getting on.
Best of luck to all of you that are already there and i hope it all goes well for you.

sarochka · 29/04/2004 21:36

Bluestar you have been so helpful - thanks. Best of luck for 9 days time and you Gold123. Hoping that you have a marvellous holiday - fingers crossed for weather.
When I fell pg with DD didn't notice anything much but could smell lemons!! Also didn't moan about my weight quite as much as usually did. I just wish that I could be the weight I used to be. Still nowhere near. Idea is baby no 2 and then huge huge diet burst.

smellymelly · 29/04/2004 21:44

I got severe cramping pains on Mon when af was due, and panicked, but all was well. Also had bad cramps on day of implantation.

Had mood swings from hell though, and looking back have been cleaning and tidying things like the fridge and toyboxes!! Which I do not choose to do very often. I even mowed the lawn today!

I had more metallic taste last month when I wasn't pregnant, so I wouldn't take notice of all the supposed signs..

gold123 · 29/04/2004 21:48

Hello Sarochka and Dreams - good luck to you both and everyone else of course.

After my first I went straight back to my start weight, then after my second, still won't come off and he's 4, I have been worried about having another when I'm larger than I should be, but hey a baby is far more important than ever been able to wear a bikini again !

gold123 · 29/04/2004 21:55

glad you are ok smelly and congratulations.
Please throw some good luck my way.

sarochka · 29/04/2004 22:18

You are so right Gold 123 and I know that bikini days long gone. Got the wrong thread for a minute there
take it easy.....

Azure · 30/04/2004 04:12

Just heard the news - many congratulations Bidbird. Hello and welcome to all the new joiners - I hope your stay here will be brief (meant in the nicest possible way!). I'm still away but will be back at work on Tuesday and so will be able to spend much more time on Mumsnet

BigBird · 30/04/2004 09:46

Thanks Azure and ChaCha (ex cycle buddy !!!)

I really hope it will be you all soon.

About the symptoms thing - I remember on DD thinking AF was going to start any minute - I had a pg test in my hand in the shop and was thinking there is no point buying this....but I bought it anyhow and got a +ve. Similarly this time felt the usual slight cramps about 3 days before af was due....and no other symptoms. I thought I would surely 'KNOW' this time as I was WAY more in tune with my body...but I didn't. I hadn't been temping so I dont know if I got a dip, but I did check temps at around cd 26 to see if they had dropped and they were the usual temp for the 2ww, so I didn't get a triphasic temp hike.
There was something in my head though 'making' me test...cos normally I don't only if I am past cd 28. Glad I did though !
