OK so I'm going to start this one off - this will be the luckiest and most reproductive thread ever

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THAT WRITE HERE**

I'd definitely agree with bluestar on that last post, sarochka. I reckon the best thing you could do first of all is work out when your most fertile time is likely to be, which is approximately 14 days before your period (but this can vary). If your periods are regular, it's much easier to track it all. The best advice I think is to try to have sex (called bd'ing or baby dancing on here!) every other day for the middle part of your cycle. I wouldn;t worry about temping or using a kit until you've been trying for a good while, as you're just as likely to 'catch' naturally for the 1st 6 to 12 months. Good luck!

gold123 · 27/04/2004 10:53

Hello everyone, do you mind if I join in ? I have been following this most for a while, finding all the advice very interesting - but think its time to ask a few questions myself, I have only been trying for 1 month, I have a dd (6) and ds (4), they were both unplanned and very much welcomed. The fact that this one will be planned is making me think that maybe it will take longer and I won't be so lucky this time. I'm a bit thick really and have never taken much notice of how my body works - when you have cm does that mean that this is the point at which you are most fertile ? my periods are usually 26-30 days.

bluestar · 27/04/2004 10:59

welcome gold123, you should get more cm (eggwhite consistency) when you are entering your fertile period. How about using an ovulation predictor kit (OPK)? This will pinpoint your most fertile 2 days. You start using the sticks a few days before your fertile time so you can see the changes in the lines. Bit like pregnancy tests.

Thanks bluestar, I think I will invest in one next month. I hope that I have managed to gage it right this month, I had extra cm on last friday/Saturday and did the deed Sunday/Monday day 15/16 - fingers crossed - only another 2 weeks to found out now, the waiting is the worst bit

MoseGirl · 27/04/2004 13:55

Wow what a wonderful surprise to see two more BFP's!!!

Congrats to TEX111 and BigBird!!!!

I am definitely staying on this thread, its been lucky so far!

CD17 for me and did first OPK but not OV'ing yet (which is good cuz DH isn't back until Thursday)

Moomin · 27/04/2004 16:09

Had my early pg test results just now - bfn. Was only cd22 when I tested, though. Won't bother getting my hope up - got the chickenpox to concentrate on first (which, I have decided, I am NOT getting, so that's that.)

bluestar · 27/04/2004 16:24

Moomin, it is early to get a result anyway, so you could still be pregnant. What are your usual cycle lengths? I hope you don't catch chicken pox and hope your dd recovers quickly.

OP posts:
sarochka · 27/04/2004 20:49

Thanks for that info. It is baby no 2 already have dd aged 2 and a bit. She came as a real surprise as had been warned not to expect very much !! Now I think it might take a bit longer. But will try the kits and stuff. Moomin - my daughter just recovered from cpox - really hope you don't get it.

bluestar · 27/04/2004 21:23

Sarochka, why were you told not to expect much conceiving dd? Just wondered if you had any other condition which makes conceiving difficult for you?

This will sound strange now and like I'm imagining things BUT since ov, I have felt sick every afternoon, my breasts have prominent veins (usually only get this just before af) - I wasn't checking but trying on bras in M&S!! and nipple area is sore. I know I have to wait this out and I'm not sure you would really get any pg symptoms this early but these things don't usually happen to me. I hope it's not my body playing tricks on me!!!

sarochka · 27/04/2004 21:59

OOh so do I but it does that sometimes. I guess I should read the thread but how long u been trying?
Well had been living abroad and contracted nasty disease and not treated properly as found out much later and then had to have quite alot of laser treatment after. She came after about a year of trying without trying if you know what I mean... everything since seems to be all clear down there so fingers crossed. ....

futurity · 28/04/2004 07:47

Horray! Day 18 and I have a surge on my OPK! Last month was day 20 and month before day 19 so fingers crossed it means a slightly earlier OV and slightly longer luteal phase!

BigBird · 28/04/2004 09:26

futurity !

Good luck bluestar.

Moomin - my DD has chickenpox too....this is too wierd. So much in common. I've fingers crossed for you.

bluestar · 28/04/2004 10:34

futurity, it's great when you get an earlier surge isn't it? Good luck for this month, let's see if we can both get those January babies again! We've been lucky before in April!

Sarochka, have been ttc for over a year, had a mc last summer (very early one) and trying to hang on in there in the hope that it will happen again!

Bigbird, hope your dd recovers quickly too.

OP posts:
futurity · 28/04/2004 11:56

fingers crossed for us that april is our month!

futurity · 28/04/2004 12:13

feeling more positive today..mainly due to the early surge but also because i went swimming with my ds which we haven't done for months. He loved it and it made me appreciate more doing stuff with just him which may be harder when there is two of them. Definetely going to make the effort to do stuff like that as we both had a giggle!

MoseGirl · 28/04/2004 14:40

Futurity its great you are feeling more positive. I agree as I have let ttc take over my life lately and when I stop and think I realise there are lots of important things already in my life and I should not forget these.

I had reflexology on Saturday and it has started me on a path to relax and detox. I now realise I may not feel stessed but there is stress deep within me. Maybe I need to work on this before I can conceive????

Now I'm waffling...sorry. POSITIVE mind for a + result ..... my new motto

Moomin · 28/04/2004 16:00

Mosegirl - good idea with the relfexology - I'm having a course too. Stress is a major major factor and has such an effect on all kinds of areas in your body that you may never have thought about.

Still no sign of chickenpox. My cycle is usually 28 days, although last month for the 1st time in donkeys AF decided to come 2 days late (senile old bint).

BigBird - you say you didn't have any symptoms when you tested - did you have symptoms with your dd? I don't feel any different to any other month at the moment but you know how it is - you hope against hope that it might still have worked!

gold123 · 28/04/2004 16:10

What is the best test you can buy for the earliest result and how early can you use it ? I know its too early for me yet, but would like to find out asap

hana · 28/04/2004 16:15

gold 123 - I think it's a first response test or a clear blue? Someone used one of these several days before her AF and got a positive...
good luck

bluestar · 28/04/2004 20:23

I think First Response and Boots own are the best for an early result. All I would say as a note of caution is that it is possible to get an early positive but there will still be a chance that af will come and that the pregnancy will not continue. Unfortunately there is a long time (although only 2 weeks) after possible implantation and an actual viable pregnancy. I believe many of us here have had 'good' temp charts with an implantation dip but then af has come and no pregnancy. Not trying to be gloomy but sometimes it is better to wait until af is due or late. Good luck - hope it is the right positive for you.

Oooh, thunder is rumbling here, hope ds doesn't wake up - he hates it.

Angeliz · 28/04/2004 20:32

hi everyone, i've not been on this thread before but have been trying for 3 months and just popped in

gold123, can i just second what bluestar just said?
I did an early bird test 5 days before my period was due and got a VERY faint line, then all negatives and got my period as normal!
I wish i hadn't now as i don't know if i was, if it was a faulty test, and it's quite upsetting after that initial joy!!
(NOT saying that would happen, just that next time i'm gonna wait)
Good luck for you and fingers crossed+++++++

misdee · 28/04/2004 20:35

not my month this month. AF is too precise. arrived bang on time again. didnt even get a late so not even false hope.

bluestar · 28/04/2004 20:38

Angeliz, welcome to ttc thread. I've seen you post on the pregnancy thread before I think. What cycle day are you on? When I had my early mc, I did test the day of af (4 weeks) and then a week later I lost the baby. Sometimes I wish that I had not tested and then I would've just thought that af had come, would've saved on a lot of heartbreak. At the same time, I felt so sick and just knew that I was but hindsight is a great thing! Good luck to you.

bluestar · 28/04/2004 20:39

Sorry Misdee

OP posts:
misdee · 28/04/2004 20:45

probably a good thing tho. lots of stress this past month, plus the car crash, so 'must try harder' next month.
