lillamyy1 · 24/08/2014 10:36

Hurraaaay!!! Congratulations bradders!!!! Grin
I had a dream that I was on holiday in Peru and then woke up and started panicking about not being able to go on exotic holidays when I have a baby!!! Shock

bradders85 · 24/08/2014 10:37

I am very excited thanks Lulu and wondering what a roller-coaster we are about to go on! I am also contemplating the impending sickness just as I return to work next week after the summer holidays!! I should look refreshed after 6 weeks off! ha! Do I need to phone the doctors on Tuesday and see what the procedure is to self refer etc?

LuluJakey1 · 24/08/2014 10:41

I was hardly sick. It lasted about two weeks at most and it was only really bad a couple of days. I was not actually sick much at all just felt it. Some people aren't sick. You might be lucky! Smile

LuluJakey1 · 24/08/2014 10:43

I just made an appt to see GP. However, I knew I would have to see a consultant - thyroid probs. I would ring your GP and see what they say.

bradders85 · 24/08/2014 10:43

fingers crossed!

LuluJakey1 · 24/08/2014 11:46

DH made tea and toast and brought it up to bed- with my favourite greengage jam.

Then we had a cuddle and another snooze.

Are off for a walk while it isn't raining here- bit of blue sky in view. To the lighthouse!

Ducky23 · 24/08/2014 12:04

Bradders I didn't have any morning sickness!!! I thought I did at one point but it was something else Grin

I think you usually just give your gp a ring, some will get you in for an appt first and some will just give you the mw number to call.

I had my midwifes number so just gve her a call straight away Smile

For those of you that are high risk, do you have a care plan, or do you know when you see your consultant? I was told that due to what happened and being on meds to try and stop it happening again I would be in the 'highest risk group' (although thy probably made that up) but I saw my consultant at 9 weeks and no one will tell me when I see them again. Feeling a bit fed up with it all, am constantly batteling to get the care I was promised. I was given a rough care plan at dd's post mortem appointment but I feel like they said it all to shut me up for a bit ConfusedConfusedConfused nightmare!!!!

Bearsinmotion · 24/08/2014 12:16

I think it depends on your hospital ducky. Mine has a scheme called Silver Star, I saw them about once a month last time, they've said once a trimester this time but I can call and make an appointment if I'm worried about anything. Then each appointment is with three people - midwife, physician and consultant and takes up to 4 hours each time. This is at the hospital and totally separate from my GP and community midwife.

Did you consultant say when you would see him/her again? I make appointments when I'm there so I always know when I'm seeing them next.

Ducky23 · 24/08/2014 12:22

No he didn't say Confused I just assumed it would be at 20 weeks but at my 20 week I asked when id see him and they said I probably won't! But he has to approve all my extra scans and stuff and my induction date Confused

Cupcake92 · 24/08/2014 14:44

Ducky I'm seeing my consultant at my 12 week scan then won't see him till 36 weeks!!!!!!
Well hello!! I went into early labour at 32 weeks! So really I need to see him just before 32 weeks.
I was then told at 36 weeks he'll send me for a growth scan and then that's it. Won't see him again.
It's ridiculous! What's the point in being high risk if ur not monitored carefully and frequently???

LuluJakey1 · 24/08/2014 15:28

Ducky I will see the consultant again at 26 weeks. So I saw him at 8, 12, 20 and I don't know after 26 weeks. I will have another scan then because they want to keep monitoring the baby's growth and development because of my thyroid problem.

I think you should write a letter to the consultant reminding him what happened and what you were promised and saying you expect it to happen. It isn't good enough. Didn't you say you weren't properly looked treated last time?

Ducky23 · 24/08/2014 16:57

Well what happened last time was dd stopped growing at 28 weeks, around this time I was repeatedly telling my mw that she wasn't moving and my midwife kept brushing it of saying she was I just couldn't feel her because of where my placenta was. For a few weeks I kept sayig it and requesting a scan (I was new to all this so didn't know I could self refer) and the midwife actually called me a 'drama queen' Blush at my appt she couldn't find the heart beat for a while and then she found one in a really wierd place but it was slow and quiet, I said there was something wrong but she said she was the midwife and it was fine, then I went home for 3 weeks (texting/ringing to say it wasn't right) and at my next appt there was someone covering. She couldn't find the heart beat but then I heard what I heard in the appointment before and asked if that was it, she said it was my heart beat Sad she sent me straight to the hospital where they confirmed her heart had stopped beating Sad I was 32 weeks.

I was then induced and had a post mortem done, the post mortem confirmed that dd had stopped growing and died at 28 weeks but they didn't know why. There were some things they wanted to test me for but I got pregnant before the hospital appointment and they can't do conclusive tests when your pg.

At the post mortem they said I would be scanned every two weeks and see the consultant regularly and I would have these other observations imbeteeen the scans and then induced at 38 weeks.

Then at my first consultant appt he said I would be scanned every 4 weeks, I got quite upset so he said he will review it when I next see him. Then the hospital booked them for every 6 weeks.

I don't have the contact details for the consultant either as the letters he was meant to send me never turned up and despite requesting these verbally and in writing I never got them. My only feeling was it was so I didn't take any action against the midwife Hmm

Cupcake92 · 24/08/2014 18:09

:( Ducky. They really need to pick their game up. I would deffo take them to court if u can. That's malpractice. They shouldn't have treated u like that at all. :( :(

Bearsinmotion · 24/08/2014 18:25

Do you have the same midwife Ducky? Do you know the consultant's name and the hospital he was at? I googled my specialist and found his contact details online...

LuluJakey1 · 24/08/2014 19:06

I do think you should write to the Hospital Administrator and explain the whole situation and say how unhappy you are at your treatment.

Or would your GP intervene? Or your midwife?

You must be really worried and it is not fair of them to go back on their word after what happened last time.

LuluJakey1 · 24/08/2014 19:08

We are just about to set off to PIL.

It is FIL's birthday tomorrow so MIL is having a family lunch. It's easier to go tonight. Should be there about half 9. Back on Tuesday morning.

Ducky23 · 24/08/2014 19:11

Do you think kicking up any fuss would affect the care I get though?

I have chose my own midwife this time

Ducky23 · 24/08/2014 19:12

Posted too soon!

Have chose my own and she is fab Smile /she is really trying her best to get the care I was promised but she has a lot of time off.

Have a nice time lulu and happy birthday to fil!

Cupcake92 · 24/08/2014 19:32

Have a nice time lulu ! :) and happy birthday to fil!

Ducky kicking up a fuss should give them a kick up the arse to start doing what they are meant to. It's not fair on u or DS right now not to get the care u need

Cupcake92 · 24/08/2014 20:31

My god. I'm soooooooooo bloated tonight!! Look about 6 months pregnant haha!! Eugh.
