Hello,

Was just wondering whether anybody has had a similar experience?

When trying for first child got pregnant the first month, however that ended in MC. Luckily I got pregnant again with DD after first month of trying again.

DD is now three, we would have started TTC sooner but I went back I Uni and I'm due to finish in November.

We have been trying for 5 months and no luck, worried that I've left it too late as I'm now 37.

Sad

Thanks metal I know I will never know most likely, just writing it down really as my heads a mess. I'm one of those people who doesn't test well re: pregnancy tests when I was PG with my DS I was 2 weeks (and a ton of BFN's) later that I actually got a BFP. It's the reason I'm not that bothered about POAS when AF is due. I guess it doesn't really matter what the answer is anyway it doesn't change anything, it's getting me down though something else to worry about!!

I know I'm not the best advocate as I was in labour at the time but I don't remember acupuncture hurting at all :)

farfallarocks · 29/09/2014 13:49

Congrats to zippy that is great news! Progesterone also helped me carry my DD to term after 2 early miscarriages and I also had a short luteal phase. They use it all the time in the USA I think, less so here!

bobsy I am sorry but I think your GP is talking nonsense, there are all sorts of things that could stop you conceiving, thyroid, hormonal imbalance, sperm, scarring, blocked tubes etc. To just dismiss you as being too old is crazy. Can you ask for a referral? Or go private?

I have had acupuncture before, not painful at all and very relaxing. It has certainly helped regulate my cycles before. Its expensive though!

Good luck with the referral tatty there could be something in that, the first question docs have asked me during fertility investigations is how was DD born and was it a c section I think for that reason.

loves I am so sorry to hear that, 9 days does sound very unusual and might be worth getting checked out? I have had had 2 chemicals and one was lighter than normal AF and the other was 2 weeks of bleeding and brown spotting. In the end I had some moxubustion (burning of weird moss stuff by your feet) during acupuncture which sounds nuts but it cleared me out and stopped the bleeding!

AF has arrived at last! 5 days late, first time that has ever happened to me. Grrrrr. BFNs throughout though. So at least I can start my monitoring cycle now in preparation for IVF. Eeeek

lovesmycake · 29/09/2014 13:57

thanks farafalla that helps, I've never had a chemical pregnancy just 'normal' miscarriages (whatever that means!!). So just wanted to know if it was even a possibilty.

Congratulations on the start of your IVF journey :)

Metalhead · 29/09/2014 14:05

Sorry about AF farfalla, but hopefully your IVF will be a success!

I'm having really bad ov cramps today, if I don't get a +opk tomorrow I'm going to despair! Confused

LittlePoot · 29/09/2014 15:03

Hello all. Sounds like an eventful few days? And hopefully an ovulation on its way for you metalhead. Why are we so badly designed? We have to do all sorts of crap to stop us getting pregnant when we're younger, then find it so hard to do when we want to. There really should be an easier way - an on/off switch or something. Would save such a lot of heartache.

Bobsy - I agree your GP sounds rubbish! I know you (we) are not exactly young, but we're not too old either - unless you're actually having an early menopause. Increasing numbers of over 40s are getting pregnant these days, including half my NCT group (which is nice - especially as the last one was an accident - aged 43 ffs). Sorry if I've missed all this, but have you had all the tests and scans already? And I think you said your DH wasn't up for his end of the tests? Can you try and see another GP? I'm a year or so older than you, and I'm not thinking I'm too old just yet - it might be taking longer, but I'm sure its still possible.

Congratulations wonky on the bfp! Great news. Will think sticky thoughts for you. Sorry for those who've had crappy news though.

As for me, I'm coming to the end of the 2ww and typically need talking down from dashing to the chemist to stock up on tests. So, I did a 10k run at the weekend which was way harder than it had been in training, then woke up in the middle of the night needing to pee, and have been peeing all morning. So clearly half of me is convinced I'm pregnant. The other half just thinks maybe I need to train more before a race and drink a bit less wine after.... Can't decide whether it's more of a waste of my time to nip out to the shop now for a test, or just to live in blissful ignorance until Friday when no doubt AF will arrive and ruin my day. At least if I don't test, I can have a happy week, whereas a bfn will really get me down. I should be used to it by now - it's been the same every month!!! Grrrr.

HazleNutt · 29/09/2014 15:11

Had to come and find you guys, as I was getting irrationally irritated reading the thread about how hard it is to be pregnant with a toddler or have a newborn and a toddler. Help me to get a grip! Of course it's hard, just that at the moment it sounds to me like "Oh my diamond shoes are too tight.."

momwhereismy · 29/09/2014 15:12

Just placemarking. I've been trying to conceive naturally in a if it happens, it happens way. Its now 12 months. Nada. I am going yo stsrt tracking
My ds is 6. And he needs a sibling! DS was conceived on the first go so just thought magic would happen. I am in my late 20s
Will read rest of thread later

HazleNutt · 29/09/2014 15:14

Am also pissed off with DH, who is really keen to have another - and this month was too tired to DTD exactly at the required time, so we probably missed the window. AF should be arriving for my (36th) birthday, what a nice present it will be.

BobsyBoo · 29/09/2014 19:15

Loves I think my OH just prefers to bury his head in the sand rather than talk about things and gets annoyed if I mention how longs it's been, I've been told to stop counting. He just doesn't understand. Hope you're ok and hopefully not a MMC maybe just a bad period (I'm no expert on MMC), it's hard though when you start thinking about these things.

Metal I might look in to acupuncture, I'm at the stage where I'm prepared to try anything.

farfallarocks I'm thinking about going back, from reading these threads others seem to be getting much further with their GP's. I had a scan and I've had blood tests but all okay. She did say that I need to try and relax but that is easier said than done, I really wish I could relax. Sorry about AF arrival and being late makes it worse! Good luck with the IVF.

LittlePoot I've had a scan and blood tests and everything came back fine. I hope so, it's good to hear of people in their 40's getting pregnant by accident though. I can't stop thinking about what she said to me and I really wanted to try and get back to thinking positive again. I may go back to see another GP. It's constant stress as it's so hard to get OH to DTD even though he wants another just as much as me! The 2ww is hard and even harder as it nears the end, good luck.

HazleNutt I'm the same as you would find that highly irritating! They don't know how lucky they are. Oh yes I also have an OH who suffers a lot from being 'too tired' at the appropriate time! I had AF arrive right in time for DD's 4th birthday last week, as well as arriving just before Christmas last year. She doesn't half pick her times! Good luck and hopefully you will get the Birthday present you really want!

lovesmycake · 30/09/2014 06:54

bobsy I don't think your too old either, I know plenty of people who are having children at your age I think your gp just doesn't have a clue - People who have not been through this have no idea about the heartache involved, whats its like to be stuck in the endless cycle. I think comments like 'just relax' or 'stop counting' only prove that. I don't blame them either I find it a really difficult thing to explain even to those close to me. (or myself for that matter)

Oh littlepoot the waiting is the hardest part I really feel for you, I really hope its your month :)

haha hazle I definitely feel the same way but I have an irrational anger towards all pregnant women at the moment which is probably not healthy.

As for me I'm fine, I'm working from home today which should be easier as I don't feel like I have to keep it together. If it was a mmc then at least I managed to get PG yay! and if it was then I'm lucky, I didn't have all the hopes and expectations that a BFP brings about. Thinking of you today slightly I hope things are getting better for you Flowers

BobsyBoo · 30/09/2014 09:43

Thanks Loves I know it is so awful every month when AF arrives then the stress of having another try then the waiting. How can I ever relax, OH lack of co-operation doesn't help either, he makes me stress because I have to get him in the mood at the right time & he's usually tired or would rather watch tv!

The working from home must help, I sometimes feel like I just don't want to face people. That is one way to look at it at least you have got pregnant so you should be able to again.

Me too about the irrational anger towards all pregnant women, took DD to a party on Sunday & another mum there was pg with #3! Just not fair.

Metalhead · 30/09/2014 10:37

Urgh, I still haven't got a +opk, despite all the cramping yesterday and tons of ewcm for the third day in a row now - WTF is my body playing at?! I also feel really ill today so probably won't get to dtd tonight.

Welcome to the club mom, and Little fx the tiredness & peeing lots is a good sign for you.

HazleNutt · 30/09/2014 10:48

A colleague has a 2yo, 1yo and his wife is pregnant again. Now that's just greedy.

And yes, relax? When I'm older each month and when the gap that we wanted to keep small keeps getting bigger and bigger? And when I can't help to wonder what's wrong and why it's not working this time? Yeah, sure, relax, I'll just do that..

Metalhead, opposite here - got nice fat lines on the OV strips, but no other symptoms this month. Last month like yours - all the symptoms, but tests negative. Odd.

Metalhead · 30/09/2014 10:56

It's so annoying, I keep getting near positives and thinking 'tomorrow I will get there', but then nothing. Confused

Oh and the 'just relax' thing must surely be the most useless and irritating bit of advice ever! For one, it's just impossible to do, and two, I was quite relaxed back in June when we were on holiday and still didn't get pregnant.

NaughtiusMaximus · 30/09/2014 14:32

Hi, please can I join? We have a 3 year old and have been TTC #2 and currently on cycle 2 but all indications are that AF is on her way again this month. Interested in investing in OPK, does anyone have any recommendations?

LittlePoot · 30/09/2014 17:02

Caved and bought sticks. BFN. Grrr. I knew really - apart from being overly knackered and incontinent, I'm feeling more PMT than pregnant, and my main early symptom previously has been sudden change of taste of chocolate from yum to dirt. But I've merrily been stuffing down choccy bics today and there's no dirt coming through. God - why do I never learn not to get my hopes up?!? Of course, as advised, I'm perfectly relaxed and not worrying about this at all.... I swear if they say that to me at my hospital appointment in a couple of weeks I'll scream! Hope ginger's scan went well yesterday - very interested to hear more, and also about the acupuncture for those partaking. Are the necessary scans offered automatically at the hospital or do I need to know what to ask for? Willing to try most things at this stage.
Hello naughtius, and welcome. At cycle 2, hopefully you've still got a way to go before you're reduced to ranting like this, and fingers crossed you get lucky way before that stage..... I stick to internet cheapies for OP sticks - think I found a bargain bagful on Amazon. They probably aren't as good as the all singing, all dancing kind, but they're also a fraction of the price (which helps as you pass cycle 16) and they did the job for me 1st time round.

BobsyBoo · 30/09/2014 19:05

Metal must be nearly there though if you're getting lots of ewcm, I usually get it for a few days before +OPK, but I know it must be driving you mad the waiting for it. Hope you feel better soon. As for relax there is just no way of relaxing with what we're all going through!

HazleNutt That is very greedy! I feel the same each month a month older and the age gap getting bigger no way can I relax.

NaughtiusMaximus welcome, I use the CB digital OPK's which I find good although a bit pricey but the cheap strip one's never worked for me.

LittlePoot Sorry about your BFN, I'm the same I get all the PMT symptoms and still get my hopes up!

momwhereismy · 30/09/2014 23:11

How are we supposed to get pregnant, when DH is too tired. Bet if there was a match on he wouldn't be snoring beside me!

BobsyBoo · 30/09/2014 23:38

momwhereismy I know that so well my OH is just the same, what I find really annoying is waiting in bed for him while he's watching tv then he falls asleep on sofa, it drives me mad!

HazleNutt · 01/10/2014 08:26

What's up with all those tired men? There's a tiny, little window each month when you can possibly get pregnant, and no, sorry, I can't do much to move it. So one evening of laziness can easily mean another wasted month.

momwhereismy · 01/10/2014 10:35

Exactly! I know its me saying I am too tired for the rest of the month though! I keep trying to explain the 'window' to him but he just doesn't get it. I might start running around with a thermometer hanging out of my mouth and an ov stick out of my underwear and see does he get the hint!

momwhereismy · 01/10/2014 10:36

And while I am on a rant I don't appreciate mumsnet ads popping up with ovulation sticks.

And breathe.

Metalhead · 01/10/2014 10:54

Hooray, I finally got my +opk!! Never thought I'd be so pleased just to get that... just hope nothing goes wrong now and my body actually manages to release the egg this time!

Thankfully I felt a bit better last night and we dtd, plus I've already told DH to be ready for round two tonight Wink.

Anyone got pregnant with no.1 very quickly bit struggling with no.2?
HazleNutt · 01/10/2014 11:25

that is a very clear + indeed!

newbie6 · 01/10/2014 11:49

Hi all,

Wanted to share some advice a homeopathic doc gave me, I'm seeing her for a hormone imbalance and she knows I want to get preggars and she told me the best thing you can do to cover all bases so to speak is to do the deed every other day from day 10 of your cycle to day 20, this obviously only applies to women with a regular cycle but wanted to share in case it helps!

I'm due AF next Wed and feel like AF is due as opposed to being awash with much wanted pregnancy symptoms so reckon it will be into cycle 7 for me.....

Good luck all x
