Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been around for a bit, we've moved house this week, I'd forgotten what hard work it is!! Af also put in an unwelcome appearance, we were both really hopeful this cycle as we'd dtd loads at the right time. Oh well, on to next cycle. I'll catch up with the thread later as dp has a night shift.

Fire....I use opks, they're easy to use and pinpoint ov so I like them. I use cheap ones from amazon and when the line gets dark I use a cb one where you get a smiley face if its positive. Using them I've realised I ov on cd 10/11, I always thought it was later, I have a 27 ish day cycle.

I'm wondering how fankle is too...?

Meself, I'm going mad. Still no AF. Should have started 4 days ago, if not 5. BFN on DPO 12/13ish. Now 15/16 DPO. Temps still quite high- but not massively so.Finding it extremely difficult to determine accurate temps, as I have raging insomnia (normal for this time of the year). Symptoms aplenty- just like a normal cycle ending in AF then! I would console myself with wine, but somehow don't fancy it.....

I am not testing until Tuesday morning. I almost find myself wishing AF would start, just to get me out of this limbo of doooooom....

Hi ladies

I'm here and still in the game! Thanks Mampam and Stubborn. I had a scan at 6+5 and saw heartbeat. Going back for another scan on Wednesday. Really just trying to keep my mind off it and get through each day. I'll be 8+5 when I have this next scan...the same stage when my mmc was discovered last time. But I haven't had any spotting so am trying to be hopeful. How are you Mampam? You must be nearing 12 weeks at least now?

How's everyone else? Annie? Ginger...she is prob still sipping cocktails on holiday!

Spinning house moves are bloody hard work. Hope you are settling into your new home.

Wish I had some good news. Just got AF so cycle this month was 21 days. Feeling so fed up. Ringing GP tomorrow but really wondering if there is any point. I mean, what can happen in a 21 day cycle?!!
I suppose I have a lot to be thankful for, my DC1 is happy, healthy and generally very sweet. So I am lucky.
Guess for me it is just hard coming to terms with getting older. And with the idea that most likely there will be no more bubs for me. Excuse me while I wail silently so as not to wake DC up.
Apologies for sounding extremely self pitying, truly feel awful. Wish wish wish I was young again. Even just by 2 years! Aaaaaaaaaaagh!

Hello I'm back from Cornwall, had a lovely time, was pretty lucky with the weather. If I could afford a holiday home, it's be there, so tranquil. Had a few tears during the week but feel much better and AF seems to be starting tonight, back on 28 days after my post surgery bleed started so I'm really pleased. No pain either so far so the endo removal must have helped.

How is everyone? Good luck for Tuesday stubborn

Welcome to the newbies x

I caved in and took another test this morning....BFN Sad

Still no AF. It's now 6 days late-ish. I've never had a cycle like this before. The only other time anything like this happened I was PG Sad

It's my first month of charting, and I just have to conclude that it happened to coincide with an anovulatory cycle. It's been horrible- over a week, and I've just had no idea what's been going on whatsoever.

Symptoms a-plenty too, which just goes to show how our heads mess with us.....

I suppose it's the onset of the perimenopause, but, fireflyz, it seems that it's a v. long process, and you can have some weird cycles followed by a period of normal ones again for years. I hope....Sad

Hi all,

I hope everyone is OK.

We got back from Jersey on Wednesday morning - minus our luggage... We missed check-in for our bag by 5 minutes so they wouldn't let us take it onto the plane. They had to post it to us!!! It arrived on Saturday, finally.

The holiday was lovely but I now have tonsillitis. Feeling really rough but back at work.

9DPO here, no spotting early this month which is a relief after last month. Not looking too hopeful though and it's not necessarily a bad thing with the amount of Ibuprofen, Paracetamol and Penicillin I've been taking...

So it's DD's party on Friday and I just don't have enough time to get everything done and it's really stressing me out - don't think it's helping my throat...

Stubborn, sorry that you're getting BFNs. Don't give up hope yet though...

Mampam, wow 16 weeks already?? Where has the time gone!!

Tranquility, Cornwall is lovely, glad you enjoyed it.

Fireflyz, as someone else said, you may just have OVd early this month. Try not to worry but do try the Agnus Castus like someone else suggested.

Fankle great news about the scan hun. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Big waves to everyone else!!!

Have you seen this?! Fertility 'falls off a cliff at 35'. I think I know who i would like to see falling off a cliff.

Is it just me or is her 'well-meaning feminist' advice actually taking women back a few generations?

This has really angered me. While men are gap yearing and at university generally having the time of their lives women are somehow working in jobs that require no degree but pay enough to save a deposit buy a house and raise kids plus you can go back to university afterwards! Perfect. Who will pay the mortgage and childcare and who will father all these children older rich dudes?

I hear ya KeGirl and I certainly wouldn't want to cause you more upset by reading this. It wasn't my intention at all to upset or cause offence to anyone on this lovely thread. I guess I was outraged at her crazy comments.

I've just heard about a pregnancy of a 40 year old friend who only got married last year. She'll be 41 when the baby is born. Kinda blows Kirsty's theory out of the water.

I'm sorry you're feeling low right now keg Hopefully your forthcoming birthday celebrations for your dc and yourself will cheer you up a bit as the week goes on.

I dug out this article linked to on the previous thread as a counterpoint:

www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/07/how-long-can-you-wait-to-have-a-baby/309374/2/

I know our view on things gets skewed- we're on a thread for older women who are having problems TTC, so we're hearing about lots of older women who are having problems TTC!- and it's hard sometimes to remember that it's not always age. Most of the women I know in RL who have had big problems w/ fertility have been in their 20s/ 30s.

That said, I'm feeling pretty bloody bleak at the moment. It doesn't help that, when DP went to the hospital with his little pot this morning, they told him that they can't accept sperm samples without an appt., so he has to go back and get his GP to refer him, then wait for them to send him a letter with an appt. date....this same GP that told him just to turn up at the County hospital 40 mins' drive away! GRRR!

It's definitely Duvet of Doomsville here ATM. At least I can bloody drink if I'm not PG. It feels like this TTC business is sucking all the joy out of my life at the moment....you need to be tough, don't you? I feel like I need to get some counselling Sad

Very nice to read an optimistic article, stubborn. Will bookmark that one!

And I guess our Kirstie means well but age and ovaries apart, life IS a bit different when you are a rich n famous TV presenter! Ooh I wish I was her daughter! Bet the bedroom decor would be a dream! (Rather than all the MFI rejects I had as a kiddo!! Grin

Thank you for the agnus castus tip. I've read up a bit online and managed to confuse myself already Confused Tell me, does it regularise your cycle? I am a bit scared of all things herbal supplement-wise tbh.

I am going to see my GP this week. It may be that I am panicking unnecessarily, I have read somewhere online that even the peri menopause is not the end of all hope! - but it would be good to have some idea if possible I suppose. I think I just can't quite believe it. In my head somewhere I am still sort of 30ish! :)

Very very big virtual hugs and a good strong hand squeeze to everyone xx

Stubborn, how frustrating for you, hope you get an answer one way or the other soon.

Mampam, wow 16 weeks already, so exciting. Will you find out the sex at your 20week scan?

I read this week that Claire Sweeny off the tv is pregnant at 43 so there is hope for us older ladies.

Tranquil, I love Cornwall. We're in Devon so will quite often head that way for a weekend away.

I was taking agnus castus until a couple of weeks ago (don't think that's what's thrown my cycle off this month- I thought I'd already ov'ed when I stopped). But the 2 cycles preceding were slightly shorter than normal, too, so I thought I'd stop everything and have a look at what my body's doing without taking anything, and start again from there. I don't think it's done that much for the PMT I was originally taking it for.....

I think Kirstie means well but she's at risk of becoming the next Katie whatsherface. She's just a telly presenter so why would we take her seriously?

I'm in a bleak place right now too. Very very low. Would love the clouds to go away. I left IVF as a last resort but got the papers from the clinic and there is only a 12% success rate for women over 40. I didn't know that and was shocked.

I did hear of another pregnancy of a friend who is 44 though, so there is still hope....

spinning no not going to find out the sex, didn't with any of the DC, I like a suprise! Have been wrong every time too! Both DH and I were convinced we were having a boy last time as we were sure we had seen 'his' bits. Bit of a shocker when 'she' was born Smile

KEGirl glad you had a good holiday and hope you are geeling a little better?

Stubborn any news today? Is it worth seeing GP to find out what is going on?

All this talk of holidays, we are having one as of Friday for a whole week but we are not actually going anywhere! We live next door to DH's parents and they are going away for a week. On the whole they are ok (ish) but it will be nice to have a break from them Smile Our official holiday isn't until August.

As for Kirsty Allsop........she should stick to selling houses! I had DD1 when I was 19 and whilst I wouldn't change it or her for the world I feel like I have spent my time since playing catch up with my education and career. My friends or the majority of, did things the way I would encourge my dc's to, if possible, educaction, career, get yourself established, have fun then settle down and have kids.

Hello all,

Well 10DPO and had a second line on an IC this morning BUT (and this is a huge BUT), I don't think it was a real line...

It's difficult to tell (and if I had a phone that worked properly I would take a pic and post it, but I don't, so I can't...) I think it's too close to the end of stick, IYSWIM.

I will try and draw it below...

-Max Line--- l l Blue Tip...

So, the first 'l' is the line I'm seeing, I think it's way too far away from the control line (the second 'l') to be a 'real' line.

I would have expected it to look more like this if it was a BFP...

-Max Line--- l l Blue Tip...

If anyone has got a BFP on an IC, can you advise me? I would have imagined the 'test' line to be in the same place as it is on the OV versions, wouldn't you?

I will be taking another one tomorrow anyway just in case, but thought I'd ask you ladies...

xx
