Anyone want to join me?

I'm 36 yo, ttc #1 and very excited about it. It's something I have wanted to do for a long time but it took me a while to find mr right!

l know I am no spring chick so I have some anxieties around that but I am trying to do everything right (eating well, exercising, cutting out alcohol/caffeine etc) and I want to start off optimistic :) am a seasoned pessimist/worrier!

Have been tracking my cycle for a good while. My periods are pretty regular and I thought I could feel my ovary twinging (strongly) when it wad supposed to. This has synched with positive opks so I guess I will soon be starting my first 2ww.

Hi impatiently!! I do thoroughly recommend that book for a good dose of rational reason to assist us all navigating this crazy terrain... Wink

I'm plodding along ok thanks!! Am just starting my first proper 2ww - on my second cycle after coming off the pill, but the first one was 98 days and a total mystery to me at the time. Am up on my game now though with knowing what's doing what when!! Smile

How are you getting on?

ChandlersFarang · 27/04/2014 13:45

Duhhh ignore that reflex question at the end, you already told us. Sorry to hear that OH is stressed out by work and not playing along this month. Do you think a romantic evening could cheer him up, if it wasn't headlined "TTC", if you know what I mean? X x

spence24 · 28/04/2014 14:54

Jeez, I don't know if I can handle the OH being all Captain TTC now, and we're only on Day 1 of "let's stop just seeing how it goes and properly try now".

He's a big tea drinker, and has already been texting me from work complaining about how he really wants more tea and can't handle only three cups a day. Of course, being a bloke he didn't think to just switch to caffeine-free, the fidiot.

Sigh. You'd think it was the end of the world. And this was HIS idea! Rant over.

impatientlywaiting14 · 28/04/2014 23:17

Hi ChandlersFarang

Thanks for that. Yes its rather frustrating. Well turns out it not so much work/stress related as crazy baby minded me related (oops). We've have a good chat about things and i have promised to not go ott with opks and dtd at the right time ect and i understand he doesn't want things to be scheduled, neither do i . hes come to an understanding though, in order for things to happen more effort needs to be put in around my fertile window. Yes the suggestion about the romantic evening would be nice xxx

Wow 98 days! how frustrating glad hear your on track now though. I found noting things down has helped to create a clear picture. Im only going to use opks for a couple more cycles to determine where it falls and then giving them up. I will then have to find inventive ways to keep him interested to catch it instead of just relying on increasing things at time of ovulation. :)

LadesC · 29/04/2014 08:25

Impatiently.....yes i feel fine so far thanks apart from the insomnia and slight twinges of nausea but that might be in my head!! Yeah i started pregnacare in november....just need to swap over from the conception ones now.

Hope OH is ok....although mine is happy as larry deep down, he is a little worried as lets just say his job situation is a bit dicey at mo. He also found my opk obsession a bit much i think.....hes prob hopin i dont become some kind of pregzilla!!

ChandlersFarang · 29/04/2014 09:41

Impatiently - all that sounds very sensible and should leave you both in a much better place as a couple, which is super important when embarking on a plan like having kids together!!! It's completely understandable how this happens between couples ttc tho... From my perspective, I've always told DH everything... We were great friends first before we got together and still talk loads, about everything! But when it comes to ttc I'm already having to be way more selective in what I talk about, as when all is said and done, all the charting/poas/dates/science IS NOT SEXY. And as on top of all the techniques above as we may be, we won't get anywhere without the sex!

impatientlywaiting14 · 30/04/2014 23:10

Chadlersfarang Thats just like us, I share everything with my o.h. Its an alien concept not to, as i feel almost like Im keeping things from him, However i have learnt like you to start being selective. Yes cm and all other ttc science is definitely a mood killer! as you said its all very well having the other parts of the ingredient but if the main part is missing it just wont work! lol

I have a sample of the book, had a skim over earlier (when was supposed to be doing course homework), looks good going to have a read tonight and pop to library tommorow see if i can order it in xxx

impatientlywaiting14 · 30/04/2014 23:32

Hi LadesC glad to hear your doing ok. My friend said the slight twinges (waves as she called it) of nausea were her first clue as she had the same in previous pregnancy's. They were so fleeting she did wonder if it was in her head as prior to taking the positive test she was worried she that she was pregnant. Ahh ok sounds good you'v had a good supply of pregnacare for little bean :) amazon do a subscribe and save option for the pregnacare range and the leading supermarkets regularly do a 3 for 2 on the preganacre/vitabiotics range.

Sorry to hear about your D.P's job that must be worrying and taking the enjoyment off a tiny little bit. I'm sure things will be ok though and glad hes pleased. I know what you mean about becoming obsessed , My o.h already loathes my OPKS I have had to reassure him i wont be carrying on with them forever lol god id drive myself bonkers never mind him. He seems to be feeling better after our chat now thanks :)

Im sure now you have reached your goal things will feel a bit more relaxed although i know there must now be new concerns to replace the old ttc ones. hope your can start sleeping better soon xxx

impatientlywaiting14 · 30/04/2014 23:35

Spence hope your feeling a bit better and things are a ok with the o.h ? xxxx

How is patience havn't seen you for a little bit hope your doing well :)

How is everyone else on here doing ?

thamrin · 01/05/2014 05:09

hi everyone. cd6 for me on cycle 4. totally decided to take the bull by the horns this month and hope to get a bfp at the end of it all. fingers crossed.

totally understand the stresses of work. dh and I are expats in Indonesia and in the middle of applying for other contracts and countries with no idea where we will be in a years time.

I just try take comfort that there are a lot of options and something will always fall into place one way or another.

good luck to all xx

bakingmad83 · 01/05/2014 06:40

Hello ladies, haven't been on here much over the last week.

Hope you're doing ok Spence, sorry things didn't work out for you this month.

Hopefully you'll get your bfp this month Thamrin.

This seems like a lucky thread, as I just got a bfp this morning :) Wanted to wait till at least a week late before testing, although I had my suspicions last week. Glad as I was able to resist as a nice clear result. Know it's really early days, but fingers crossed.

Hope you're doing well Patience. Hopefully your symptoms will continue to play nice with you LadesC.

thamrin · 01/05/2014 06:58

wow bakingmad that is great congratulations another on this thread it must be good luck Wink Wink

I don't know how you resisted POAS for a week, gold medal to you for that!!!

again congrats and tell us newbies all about how you're feeling & symptoms! such exciting times Grin Grin Smile Smile

bakingmad83 · 01/05/2014 07:56

Thanks Thamrin. I don't keep pg tests in the house, as I know what I'd be like otherwise :)

First symptom for me was tiredness, which is really unusual, as usually have bags of energy. Also sore nipples, but sometimes get that in run up to AF. Anyway, the day AF was due I had some spotting, assumed AF must be on way, but didn't turn into anything. Thought it might be a wierd period, as used to get really short ones a few years back, but when I started weeing like mad I was pretty sure I knew why :) Touch wood no nausea yet, though had some taste changes - like salad tasting really bitter and berries really sour. Think that's about it for the mo :)

Hopefully we'll get some more bfps on here over the next couple of weeks :)

patienceisvirtuous · 01/05/2014 09:14

Congratulations baking - lovely news!

I am fine ta, bloated, sore boobs which seem to have grown lots (and I am already an F cup so this is not good!! :) ) and knockout tiredness.

It still hasn't sunk in. I am living in denial whereas DP is mega excited. Although it's killing me keeping my gob shut about it and I have known for only six days! Long couple of months this will be :o

How's everyone doing? Fingers X for you all.

bakingmad83 · 01/05/2014 09:22

Thanks Patience, glad all's ok with you. Hopefully your symptoms will settle down. I'm wondering if I spoke to soon, as now feeling queezy, but that might just be psychological :) Yes, not going to be easy keeping quiet. Have you booked appointment with GP or midwife yet? Looked on NHS site this morning and says you should let them know straight away, but I'm still wondering if too soon?

patienceisvirtuous · 01/05/2014 09:42

I haven't booked an appointment, probably because I am still in denial Blush I will do it next week...

Re your queasiness, I started feeling it straight away, so you probably do feel it a bit. Still do - just hoping it doesn't turn into full-on sickness!

OP posts:
bakingmad83 · 01/05/2014 09:47

Thanks Patience, so maybe it's not just in my head :)

impatientlywaiting14 · 01/05/2014 23:11

Baking Congratulations! :) :) I wondered if you disappearing for a while was down to good news :)

Patience Glad to hear your ok and o.h is excited bless :) god i bet it must be soo hard keeping it quiet i think i would just pop with excitement lol

thamrin keeping fingers crossed for you for a bfp this month. Work related stress is defiantly a factor affecting us as well, hope things aren't impacting you too much xx

I am 5dpo and only just discovered SMEP (sperm meets eggs plan) so will most defiantly be doing that on my next cycle going to give it my all!

Good luck to everyone and fc for more BFP's

xx

bakingmad83 · 02/05/2014 07:51

Thanks impatientlywaiting, hope the SMEP works well for you next cycle :)

thamrin · 02/05/2014 08:06

time to Google SMEP..... Wink

Phryn · 02/05/2014 14:52

Can I join the gang?

TTC#1, age 32, husband 34. Was on Cilest for about 15 years, came off and used condoms for a couple of months having done some calculations about minimum time in job for full mat leave. First cycle very light painful period which weirded me out, second cycle more normal but still lighter than I remember my period being the last time I had a pill break. Now ovulating (I think) and using OPK. Never thought I'd find peeing on a stick and seeing a line getting darker so exciting!

Not loving the symptom spotting madness and spotty neck - hoping it's not a sign of PCOS, I don't fit the other symptoms but GP is happy to do a blood test next cycle if needed.

Good luck to all!

impatientlywaiting14 · 02/05/2014 15:36

Thanks Baking yes me too ! :) how are you doing?

thamrin did you google it? i kept seeing it all over mums net about how they would be doing smep and was oblivious until someone mentioned they would be doing it and explained what it was. You start dtd from cd8 so you dtd (do the deed) on cd8 then every other day and start using opks from cd10 .Once you get your positive opk you go from every other day to every day for 3 days, the 1st day of the postive opk and the 2 days following then miss a day then give it one more "try" :)

Welcome Phryn :)
is it confusing isnt it how things change after you come off of bc i hope things are going to settle a bit more now for you and you get answers soon. I have recently come off of microgynon 30 (I don't have PCOS) and have little pimples popping up which is unusal for me. Maybe its side effect of coming off of bc? fingers crossed for you.

Not loving the symptom spotting either although havn't been too bad recently and i was soo excited the first time i see my opk turn positive lol

Fingers crossed and baby dust to all

bakingmad83 · 03/05/2014 06:29

Good luck Phryn :)

I'm fine thanks impatientlywaiting. Had some strange sensations in my stomach and back, which made me panic a little, but it's not exactly painful, doesn't last long and not in same place, so guess everything is just starting to stretch. Got an appointment with midwife on 20th, but that seems so far away at the mo. Not really hanging out on the pregnancy board yet, as still seems a little early and I like this thread :)

Lk265 · 03/05/2014 11:52

Wow baking mad! That's great news! .... I think this is a lucky thread! Pls don't go elsewhere - we will miss you preggers ladies!

Welcome Phryn!

Just got a positive OPK so I think I am ovulating!! Fingers crossed!

bakingmad83 · 03/05/2014 12:34

Thanks LK :) I'm sure all of us will still keep popping back on to this thread. Hopefully this is your month too!
