Anyone want to join me?

I'm 36 yo, ttc #1 and very excited about it. It's something I have wanted to do for a long time but it took me a while to find mr right!

l know I am no spring chick so I have some anxieties around that but I am trying to do everything right (eating well, exercising, cutting out alcohol/caffeine etc) and I want to start off optimistic :) am a seasoned pessimist/worrier!

Have been tracking my cycle for a good while. My periods are pretty regular and I thought I could feel my ovary twinging (strongly) when it wad supposed to. This has synched with positive opks so I guess I will soon be starting my first 2ww.

Congrats Patience! :)

April1984 · 25/04/2014 09:35

Congrats!!!!!

April1984 · 25/04/2014 09:36

Sounds good that you are about to ovulate Chandlers. Good luck!

Lk265 · 25/04/2014 10:55

Wow it so wonderful to see 2 BFP's have come and 2 little babes are therefore on their way - I am so pleased for you both!!

Sorry I've been away....super busy, day off today so time to catch up. Would love all your advice....so my last AF came 6 days late!! hence why i was getting quite sure i could have a bfp as I am always 29/30 days long...and that was our 1st TTC, so to suddenly be 6 days late was confusing! Now I am wondering what happens this cycle? when will I ovulate/how long will it be?
Do I consider my cycle to start when it normally would of or when it did come? Do I count it as 29 days long or 35?

I've read a bit online and the consensus seems to be to track CM, basal temp and do the deed every other day. I am guessing I will ovulate anywhere between 27th April and 6th May....but I would love some accuracy!!!

patienceisvirtuous · 25/04/2014 11:01

Thanks lots :) It feels very surreal and I don't want to get my hopes up yet as very early days, but a BFP is a good first step hey :)

Lk, do you use ovulation predictor sticks? I did, and they really helped pinpoint when I was ovulating. I'd definitely recommend them. I just bought some cheapies from ebay.

If using opk tests is it better to dtd daily during high fertility or every other day?!

patienceisvirtuous · 25/04/2014 13:19

I think it's recommended in general to dtd every other day through the whole month. And I think the every other day thing is to get the best sperm.

But we did it every day during high fertility - and a couple of extra times thrown in for good measure ;) which seems to have worked?!

My uninformed advice would be, just have plenty of sex, especially during your fertile time :)

Thanks patience DH won't know what has hit him this month!! Wink

Lk265 · 25/04/2014 14:57

hey
I tried the opk sticks last month and the month before (we weren't trying that month I just wanted to see when I was ovulating) but felt I was never clearly getting the second pink line, so I felt like they weren't working. I also was using internet cheapies and I kept forgetting them after testing etc...I've got a few left so planning to use them again.

I think I may of missed ovulation last month, thinking the fertile period was over when actually it was probably later than expected because of the delayed period. We dtd a lot around the fertile time too!!! DH was very pleased!!

Lk265 · 25/04/2014 14:57

Ps....just bought pre-seed. Anyone tried it?

April1984 · 25/04/2014 15:03

I used opks this month too and dtd at the right time so I guess it just wasn't our month. It was my first cycle off the pill so hoping this cycle will stay the same. I just bought an equivalent of pre seed from boots but not used it yet!

LadesC · 25/04/2014 18:57

Congratulations patience....thats fabulous news. Grin Hope youre feelin ok....Lets hope this is a lucky thread!!

impatientlywaiting14 · 25/04/2014 21:02

Hi all

Congratulations Patience and LadesC :) :) ( i don't know how to put a grin on here)

Fingers crossed for all the rest of you :)

Me and Oh Dtd on CD6 CD 9 & CD10 I got a positive opk today CD 13 What do you ladys think could i be in with a chance? I think we should of dtd more this cycle to have a realistic chance (not through the want of trying!) However I wasn't due to ovulate till CD15 hence DTD on CD 9&10 as i was advised to dtd 6 days before expected ovulation (started on CD9 in case I ovulated a day early). Going to try to dtd tonight and preferably tomorrow

impatientlywaiting14 · 26/04/2014 13:44

Any of you Lovely ladies around today?

Need a positive boost today, feeling a bit dispondant

Hope you are all doing ok and LadesC and Patience are feeling ok?

xxxx

LadesC · 26/04/2014 14:10

Havin a down day impatiently? I prescribe a day of pampering and eating tasty morsels. Or theres always wineWink . Youll get there....its an up n down old journey isnt it.

I dont feel too bad thanks, although having been a habitual struggler to wake up in the mornings, I now find Im wide awake at 5am every bloody morningAngry .

impatientlywaiting14 · 26/04/2014 14:22

HI LadesC Yes it most certainly is especially when the o.h doesn't want to dtd :(

ohh that must be terribly annoying for you :( my friend had that from about 3-5 months into her pregnancy no matter how late she went to sleep bingo! she was wide awake from around 5.30 and would lay there until her alarm went off at 7am to drag herself off to work.

I hope things settle soon and your feeling ok the rest of the pregnancy how far along are you if its not to nosy to ask?

xx

impatientlywaiting14 · 26/04/2014 14:23

oops meant "in the rest of your pregnancy"

spence24 · 26/04/2014 21:14

Hi all, been a while since I posted. Work has been crazy and my mind had drifted from TTC a little. But took a test this morning and we THINK we got a positive, albeit really faint!

We're both really unsure as we were certain we'd missed the window this month, but told the best ie who is the only one who knows we're TTC and sent her a pic of the test and she's now convinced we are and over excited for us!

It doesn't seem real. I thought I'd feel different, or just "know". The OH has told me that we are just going to carry on as normal and test again on Monday, so if that line gets any darker......eeek!

spence24 · 26/04/2014 21:20

This was our test result this morning. I've been driving myself mad looking back at it all bloody day trying to figure out if it's real or not!

ChandlersFarang · 27/04/2014 04:56

spence -how exciting!! I can defo see a faint line there. You know the science - you only get a line at all if HCG is detected in your pee, HCG only produced if preg, and false positives are rare. Fingers and toes crossed for you that it gets darker on your next try!! Grin

ChandlersFarang · 27/04/2014 04:59

For all my fellow ttc #1-ers can I just recommend a book? It's called Expecting Better by an economist called Emily Oster. If you're of rational brain and are getting confused with the myriad pieces of conflicting advice on getting preg/being preg (what can and can't affect a pregnancy during 2ww, what to eat/drink/do when preg, etc) it's great. IMHO, every girl should read it when in our shoes!! Smile

LadesC · 27/04/2014 07:04

Spence...how exciting. Smile You could try the digital test...we had 2 days of faint almost invisible lines then digital one gave us the confirmation.

Impatiently...im so so early....4weeks and 5days so dare not let myself get carried away yet! Sounds like you need to drag that oh into the bedroom sharpish!! Hope ur feelin better today x

spence24 · 27/04/2014 07:20

Update - looking like a false positive or a chemical pregnancy, AF arrived late last night. OH more upset than me I think, started going on about how we're going to try harder next month th and make it happen because he didn't realise just how much he wanted it until he saw that line yesterday morning! Bless him.

ChandlersFarang · 27/04/2014 08:37

Aaaah spence I'm sorry!!! If it's any consolation it seems like something was definitely going on though - and the stats say that makes you pretty likely to succeed again!! Good to have OH's resolve strengthened too, that's really sweet. Try to take the positives I guess, I can imagine how disappointed you must be feeling now. X x x x xx

impatientlywaiting14 · 27/04/2014 13:10

HI Spence

I don't think we have been introduced yet i'm So sorry to hear that :(
Pleased to hear you have the support of your O.H though. As ChandlersFarang said at least you know its happening for you both. Hope Things pick up soon xxx

HI ChandelrsFarang

how are you getting on? Thanks for sharing the book recommendation i will take a look at that :)

LadesC

How are you feeling today and Ah i see xx are you taking any vits? Iv heard pregnancare is good xxx
Yes i'm feeling much better today Thank-you. And regarding O.H not for want of trying! O.h is under stress at work and just not in the mood, its all happend this week, sods law in my fertile window. And to top it off hes away from home while Im actually ovulating :(
Not much i can do really if hes not in the mood though its not fair to put added pressure on him by trying to get him to dtd. xx
