Good luck Barking!

BecauseIsaidS0 · 12/03/2014 09:33

Good luck to barking today and Thanks and Cake to snow.

I saw my acupuncturist yesterday and she confirmed that the positive OPK just meant that I ovulated later than I thought, possibly on CD17. Since there was DTD only on CD14 and CD15...I might be out this month. We've been working a lot and haven't really had the energy Sad. Off travelling next week and damn AF always gets messed up when there are airplanes involved! Angry

winohhh · 12/03/2014 10:36

Snow, sorry about the clinic worrying you. Since I started all of this I have been so disappointed by how we get treated. It's really quite shocking!

It sounds like they are implying you might have diminished ovarian reserve. My understanding is that they can't really say that based on one result. There are various things that might point to dor, such as ovary size, antral follicle count, fsh, amh. You should get all of them. A bad result in one doesn't necessarily mean dor. Have you had your fsh done? Also, while dor isn't great, the fact you are so young helps. You still have quality eggs. I had a similar experience coming out of my first FC appointment. I'm so sorry you're going through it too. Fingers crossed for good amh and fsh results!!

Barking, good luck today!!

Boodle, 11 eggs! Amazing! His did they do overnight??

BoodleDoo · 12/03/2014 10:45

Good luck to barking for today - I hope you get some answers to your Qs!

My football team of eggs did well overnight; only one that didn't fertilise so still in the running.

funkymonk · 12/03/2014 10:46

Eggscellent news Boodle!!!

winohhh · 12/03/2014 10:53

Well done boodle!! Great news!!

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2014 12:22

Barking just nipping in to lend some bollocks for the fertility clinic this afternoon Grin
Remember even if they are not billing you directly for these appointments you ARE paying for them and their time out of your hard earned wages each month. You deserve their time and knowledge as much as any private patient so dig your heels in, be stubborn and demand the answers you want and need. I'm pretty certain you're pretty steely when you need to be (anyone who runs long distance is IMO) so use that. And practise your stern face in the mirror before you go in. It is fine to tell them you are not clear or don't understand, and if they don't have the time today to explain you would like to come back and see somebody else who will have the time to walk it through with you properly
Oh and if they suggest another appointment make them book it there and then instead of sending it through the post. Good luck!

Snowlily · 12/03/2014 13:51

Thank you for your support berries and great news on the eggs boodle!
Good luck barking if the worst comes to the worst emotion wise you could always hand your list over to the consultant for them to answer?
I get my AMH results in a week; the test had been mentioned when I was with the consultant but not when the nurse took my other bloods so it wasn't done at first. After the scan the sister was running around getting the paperwork with some urgency which panicked me a bit (could just have been they wanted to go home as it was late by this point) and I ended up being a human pin cushion when the 2nd jab failed and they went for a third, lol.
Thanks for your input wino I've not had the 3 day fsh test but lots of things were looked at on my 21 day bloods and they said it all looked good. (thyroid fine, no sign of early menopause etc.) One nurse said my bowel looked 'angry' (?!) and asked if I'd eaten, so maybe my GL diet of oats for breakfast and salads every lunchtime didn't help the scan? I'm also waiting for a hycosy appointment, where they'll discuss the results then and there.
Trying not to google what my options might be and wait for more test results. Think I'll just perch here next to the lava lamp of limbo ;)

FeatherFeather11 · 12/03/2014 14:50

Good luck today barking! Keep us posted! Sending you Berrie power vibes this afternoon!

FeatherFeather11 · 12/03/2014 14:50

boodle - just read your news - brilliant!!!

SidneyBristow · 12/03/2014 16:54

Barking hope your FC appt is gong well x

barkingtreefrog · 12/03/2014 17:05

Still waiting to go in. DH just mentioned a mate's birthday meal on Friday. I said I wasn't going as bump-that-would-be mine was going (and I had other plans anyway). He asked if I was still going to avoid her when she'd had the baby Sad .

littlevoice1702 · 12/03/2014 17:09

hi everyone.

i'm new here and have spent most of the day reading all of the elderberry pavlova threads and i think i've finally found the most recent one! v funny btw, probably the first thread i've seen that's ANTI-baby dust, thank God - thought i was alone in that hatred.

i'm 33, ttc for 2 and a half years and have finally admitted defeat and fresh from my first patient information evening for ivf. (still kind of prayingfor a FUFC).

feeling nervous/scared/fed up and thought i'd give this a try as all of my friends are instadiffers and don't really get what i'm going through.

hopefully fit the criteria, would be great to chat to you all.

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2014 17:11

Hi Little. Strictly speaking I'm a graduated berry, but thought I'd welcome you in...it really is a great place for support and the berries are wonderful (if not a little bit mad Grin). Make yourself comfy and I will cross my fingers for your FUFC BFP too

BoodleDoo · 12/03/2014 17:17

Hi Little! Welcome in! Are you looking to do private or nhs IVF?

beakybeak · 12/03/2014 17:20

Boodle, great result for you! Grin

Barking, how did the FC app go?

Hi Little, welcome and sorry you've had to join! My friends are also instadiffers and have no clue about how difficult it is for others but you're in the right place for support now!

How's everyone else doing today?

barkingtreefrog · 12/03/2014 17:41

Hi little, we all understand! Have you not gone down the NHS route? Tell us your story! Smile
I'm out. No more clomid. Will update properly later as I'm on the phone with DH in the car but short update is on waiting list for IUI. Appointment to discuss and fill in the forms will happen within the next 18 weeks. So should be talking about it by July... I'm hoping it will happen a little quicker or that's our summer holiday ruined...

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/03/2014 17:43

Hope you got the answers and result you needed Barking

BoodleDoo · 12/03/2014 18:27

How are you feeling about that, Barking? Glad to be making steps or were you hoping to keep at the clomid a bit longer? Hopefully it won't be 18 weeks and that's just a worst case waiting time scenario.

tigerdog · 12/03/2014 18:55

Welcome little it sounds as though you're in the right place Smile.

barking that sounds like progress. What did they say in response to your questions? 18 weeks should be the maximum as that is the timeframe from referral to treatment. You can probably find out rough waiting times at your FC online.

Boodle great news on the eggs!

snow liking the lava lamp of limbo - I've been perched next to that all month waiting for the hsg and being out if the game as a result!! Some sound advice from win there about needing to consider more than just one test to get the full picture.

Not much to report here but still feeling the odd unusual twinge following the hsg....nothing too painful but definitely a bit of an ache down there. Normal or something I should mention to the gp?

barkingtreefrog · 12/03/2014 21:19

Apologies for the forthcoming essay.

I asked all my questions and I did get answers. If I carried on with clomid I would have to wait until I'd taken however many more cycles before moving on to the next step. I told him my concerns about my cycles, the light bleeding, early spotting and late ovulation. He said he wouldn't recommend more clomid as it lessens the endometrial lining, so if I was already concerned then this wouldn't help. The same with increasing the dose - if I was already ovulating then an increased dose would do nothing but mean even less bleeding & lining. So basically not really feeling the clomid anymore.
I asked about progesterone tablets if I did get pregnant as I was worried about my progesterone levels being able to sustain a pregnancy and he said there was no clinical evidence it did anything. He would be willing to prescribe them if I wanted them as they wouldn't do me any harm, but all it would do is stop the bleeding and delay a miscarriage if it was going to happen rather than prevent it (which is actually what I'd read online as well). He basically said that when you pregnant the body will sort out the progesterone and I shouldn't worry about it.
I mentioned the concern about my age and egg sharing and he basically said that even if he referred me and I was seen tomorrow it's not going to happen before I'm 35 so that ship has basically sailed....
What I wasn't expecting was the offer of IUI. Apparently we can get up to 3 goes (unless they decide at some point it's not suitable) and then we'd go straight on to IVF if it didn't work rather than being referred round again. He said the gonal whatsit injections would be a good idea for me as they will boost the lining (I think, I'm now forgetting what he said) but I remember all the elements of IUI being quite reassuring in terms of what I'm worried about. I'm also happy that we're not at the 'end of the road' yet. He did point out that the success rates of IUI aren't as good as IVF, but I'm happy to have something else to try before the last chance saloon.
18 weeks is the worst case scenario, so I'm hoping we will hear sooner than that as July feels a long way away. It would also screw up our plans to go and watch the Tour de France as soon as we break up from school!! Which would be fine if they could promise us a baby.....

So, not quite sure what to do in the meantime. Do I ditch the temping, opks etc and not stop trying but just chill out until we get our appointment? Or do I carry on tracking cycles so I can see how the acupuncture is doing and not drive myself insane if I've Ovd late but don't know and therefore think I'm late when I'm not ?

Well done if you read to the end of all that.
Feels good to have a plan, but also feels like a long limbo period while I impatiently wait for that appointment letter....

barkingtreefrog · 12/03/2014 21:20

Oh, and I almost forgot, the words 'luteal phase deficiency' actually came out of his mouth as if it was something that really existed!!! Shock

Parsley2506 · 12/03/2014 22:00

barking that sounds like a very productive appointment, so glad for you that you've got some answers to your questions. Don't be disheartened by lower IUI success rates, remember that takes into account all the various issues different women have, it will work better for some than others and hopefully you're in the former.
In your shoes I'd probably take the opportunity now to just take it easy and lay off the charting as there's an 'action' date within sight now, but that's just me. I'd love it if you got a FUFC!

boodle that's bloody marvellous - two 5-a-sides! Wink.

little welcome aboard, hopefully you'll be graduating before too long!

snow that sounds like a stressful experience. So disappointing to hear you didn't really get an on the day explanation, especially after the sister said something as scaremonger-y as that. As others have said, it is just one test so hold on tight to that lava lamp!

Parsley2506 · 12/03/2014 22:02

Ps tiger no idea on the twinges but if you're at all worried give your doc a call. It's probably nothing but there's no harm in checking. You've not got a temperature or any other symptoms have you?

RevoltingPeasant · 12/03/2014 22:39

Hi littlevoice! Welcome!

Barking that sounds to me really positive. You have a definite plan, you have reasons for everything, and sounds like he wasn't evasive or selling you any false hopes. I think it is also positive that he would prescribe something to make you feel better - shows he is willing to consider your feelings but also not going to say everything is just dandy.

So I was supposed to have GP appt to discuss bloods as first step to referral on Tues at 9.30. At 8.45 a phone call from GP receptionist: Oooh sorry, we've just realised appt was booked in error and GP doesn't work today. Is it an emergency?

Well, I couldn't claim it was, really. So booked in now at GP next available appt..... On the 25th! Shock

We will see what happens there and then if they find nothing up with me, DH will be off to the hospital toilets to do his jizzy mandance.

I thoughtfully picked him up a couple of specimen jars as I walked past the practice the other day and left them on the kitchen table for him....
