The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

Just found this really interesting article on the best times to dtd, but the best bit is a quote from an obstetrician and gynecologist at the Yale University School of Medicine:

"The No. 1 thing women identify as their risk factor for infertility is stress," she says. "But the literature doesn't really support that as a risk factor.

"It's good to destress your life," she adds. "But in the end, stress probably isn't what's keeping you from getting pregnant."

Which is probably the most helpful de-stressing thing I've read in ages!

And the comments below are hilarious Grin

Sorry the witch got you Triple especially with the timing. I prescribe chocolate, booze and swearing, not necessarily in that order.

Welcome Newbies. You'll find a great bunch of people here to keep you company on the dark and no t so dark days.

HollyBen · 29/01/2014 10:07

Morning all. Need some positivity here. CD30, 11 DPO the point where I started spotting last month and feeling it's not far off Sad To cap it of I have a massive cold sore so feeling down. Someone give me a kick and tell me to get on with it please

EnglishGirlAbroad · 29/01/2014 10:21

Hollyben the spotting has not started yet, you are still in the game. No kicks from me, just a dose of posifrickintivity! Until the bitch arrives you're still in with a chance. fingers crossed for you x

Handsfullandlovingit · 29/01/2014 10:26

tanny where there's a line there's hope, I hope they see you quickly.

Shall I add my stats?

Handsfullandlovingit, 32, DD4 DS2, ttc#3 for 1 year, mc at 5 weeks April 2012 (whoops but sad) mmc and erpc and retained products at 12weeks Oct 2013 baby measuring 9 weeks.

That was a tad depressing. The other dcs came so easily (whoops and 2nd month). Still, I am still officially LATE! Not sure whether to test this Friday or next. Would be on day 31 this week, cycle 23-25 days normally, it just feels a bit risky emotionally. Give me your views...

holly - chin up, tits out. A: No spotting = good spotting; b: if you do start spotting it's completely wank, but tomorrow's a new day, and next month is a fresh chance. And a Wine, a moan and a cleaning cry are always allowed.

handsful test, test, test (on Friday)! It'll be hanging over you otherwise, and it's looking so positive. Any symptoms?

OP posts:
wingandtalon · 29/01/2014 10:39

tanny I hope they can fit you in ASAP, as handsfull says a line means there's still hope.

handsfull I've promised myself not to POAS until it's fairly obvious that the witch isn't going to show, I've set myself at least 7 days. I can't take the disappointment of BFNs any more. But if I was 6 days overdue and it was a friday I don't think I would be able to help myself... So yes, POAS!

Handsfullandlovingit · 29/01/2014 10:44

I shall talk it over with dh, he is a sensitive soul! I am curious though...

hollyben I missed your post, sorry you are feeling down in the dumps, have a hug and a Brew until it is time for Wine

Parsley2506 · 29/01/2014 11:00

Ah to POAS or not to POAS! It can all get a bit Schrödinger's cat can't it?

One of my main reasons for hating POAS is the whole 'tempting fate' thing. In my stupid brain, if I dare to feel optimistic enough to POAS then I will be immediately cursed with a bfn just to teach me a lesson for thinking I could have actually conceived.

You can't bloody win!

wingandtalon · 29/01/2014 11:04

Oh FFS! I've just had a phonecall from my mum, granddad has been transferred to a hospice and isn't expected to last more than a few days. Not exactly a shock, he's got bladder cancer and it was only a matter of time, but right on top of my dad's death feels like a bit much. One day the universe is going to cut me a break. I'm feeling very unemotional about the news, I think I'm all cried out at the moment. Mum's asked me to write a letter that she can read to him while he's still here as there's no way I will be able to visit, I'm sure I'll start bawling when I sit down to do that.

Sorry for the downer, I just needed to vent.

HollyBen · 29/01/2014 12:02

oh wing so sorry to hear that. I have no words except to say vent away

Penguin13 · 29/01/2014 12:09

Wing I'm so very sorry to hear about your grandad. I hope you are surrounded by people who can support you but we will always be here when you need to vent.

Handsfullandlovingit · 29/01/2014 12:20

wing even though its not a surprise its still awfully sad. You have had enough on your plate. Good luck with the letter, it will be a tough thing to do. Life can surely only get better after this, surely?

EnglishGirlAbroad · 29/01/2014 13:27

Wing, I'm so sorry! Life can seem so incredibly unfair. Hope you're surrounded by lots of supportive people in real life. I can imagine writing the letter is going to be very difficult.
I hope you get some good news soon. x

wingandtalon · 29/01/2014 14:21

Now the witch has arrived 6 days early. I'm going to go home and bury my head until the world goes away.

wingandtalon · 29/01/2014 14:27

Having said that, I've just had a good look at it (like you do) and it's not like normal AF. There's no real cramping and it's more watery/pinkish. Could this be implantation bleed or am I just kidding myself? I'm about 10dpo.

Seasides · 29/01/2014 14:33

IB is generally brown, I've read wing - but 10dpo would be spot on, so af is unlikely - is your luteal phase generally longer? Really hope that is the good news to counter the sad news of your granddad. The letter's a lovely idea, though it'll be terribly sad to write. Good luck with it x

OP posts:
Seasides · 29/01/2014 14:34

Oh sorry, I've just read it's 6 days early, in which case IB is a good possibility, I'd say. Fingers tightly crossed for you.

OP posts:
wingandtalon · 29/01/2014 15:16

Definitely AF. Balls! No idea what's going on with my cycle now Sad

Seasides · 29/01/2014 15:50

Oh no wing Sad. What a shitty day you've had.

OP posts:
tannyLoo · 29/01/2014 16:14

Wing sorry you're having a shitty day. I wish I'd written a letter to my granny when she was dying. It is a lovely idea, although the reality may be a bit daunting. Good luck!

Parsley2506 · 29/01/2014 16:18

wing oh what a day. So sorry you're being dealt crappy card after crappy card. We're all here for you when you need us. I prescribe a good balls to the wall, loud as you can manage, dehydrate yourself with tears wail. it does zero to help anything but it's good to just let yourself get all primal now and then. Thinking of you Thanks

Luckystar1 · 29/01/2014 16:23

wing what a horrible day. I really feel for you! I second the wailing, perhaps accompanied by punching your pillows/the mattress...

Sundance2007 · 29/01/2014 17:07

oh no Wing, so sorry to hear your double dose of sad news. Hope you have lots of people in rl to give you big hugs and we're all here for you to chat if need be.

HollyBen - hope you are feeling better too.
