Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

KE Girl you've made me lol! Thanks I needed that! :)

I find my DP and I are just working on different calendars, when we 'need' to dtd he's either manic at work and knackered or happy to give it a miss that night. The last few months I've taken to not telling him when it's 'time' as that makes him feel under pressure....bless these men :)

Fingers crossed for you x

Fankletastic · 24/03/2014 12:18

Just popping back in to say hello and share in the 2ww torture.

Think I'm about 8 or 9 dpo. Only symptom is slightly sore boobs but I got that last month too...actually get it most months. Think I've given up hoping and actually feeling very fed up. Had a cry on DH last night as counted up we have been ttc for 30 months! It was 2 years in January since my m/c so I think this is cycle 25 since then. Jesus. It's hard not to get depressed when you count up the huge chunk of your life that's passed. I know I shouldn't look at it like that but I have just turned 35 and we just celebrated our 3 yr anniversary- time is very much always on my mind. I just want it to happen NOW!! And I don't want to go through assisted conception (who does?!) but it looks as if we may really have to go through with it. If we do it will hopefully start this summer.

I need to try to be positive about he future rather than negative about the past.

Any cheery news anyone?

KEGirlOnFire · 24/03/2014 13:37

Glad I put a smile on your face Inshock Smile.

Fankle, it's awful isn't it... I never thought that two years on I would still be waiting for a child. I know that I'm lucky to have DD and I never understood it when someone who already had children said that they were desperate for DC2/3/4 etc. But now I can say that I know how they feel Sad.

I've got my 40th birthday in June so I'm trying to look forward to that, but it's difficult...

I'm off to 'The Big Cake Show' on Friday and will be attending a talk by Mary Berry, so I'm looking forward to that one.

Inshock73 · 24/03/2014 14:38

Offering you a hand hold Fankle

Don't beat yourself up if you end up needing help to get your happy ending, just read that again and realised it sounds very Bangkok :) Life can be very unfair. Over the weekend I had to listen to one friend moan about her children and how they wish they hadn't had any, another friend go on and on about how fulfilled she feels now she's a mum and then it was capped off by another friend who doesn't doesn't know any of our ttc woes asking us in front of a group of people why we don't have/want children!

I've decided to give it one more month with an extra push on healthy diet, going to try using ConceivePlus which I keep hearing good reviews of before taking a deep breath and looking into IVF.

I never thought I'd say this but I want to be Kate Silverton!! :)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 24/03/2014 18:08

Hi everyone, we all seem to be struggling a bit this month with staying positive. I caved & poas at 7/8dpo!!! Reason being that I'm doing something for work next couple of days which I REALLY shouldn't be doing if up duffed ( plus it's our anniversary today so was stupidly hoping). Needless to say it was just a waste of a test.

Looks like a few of us seriously considering Ivf soon, that might be us after next 3 months clomid is up.

stubborn how was Morocco? Alcohol wise I'd say as long as you're not bang on it jakey style, everything in moderation....

kegirl would love to see your cakes (oo err missus, sounds rude). I love Mary berry!

inshock we used conceive plus this month, I like it. As DTd on demand & often can, ahem, reduce the passion, it helps, with chaffing! Grin

OP posts:
Gingerbreadlady1 · 24/03/2014 18:46

stubborn read that back & it sounds like I'm implying you're a jakey!!! Honest I'm not, was just being glib, oh dear...I'm away out for dinner & lots if wine!

OP posts:
Inshock73 · 24/03/2014 18:54

Ginger Helps with chaffing? lol :) I would do a laughing face but I can't work out how to do it.

I've been thinking of drafting in another man to 'help out' every other day so it eases the pressure on precious DP :) would that be wrong? does it matter as long as I get an end result? :)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 24/03/2014 18:57

Of wine.

And maybe some champagne...posh jakey burd....

Gingerbreadlady1 · 24/03/2014 19:03

Ha! No! My other half suggested it, jokingly (I hope), I've always had a higher sex drive.

Word of warning, it doesn't double up as massage oil, leaves a nice residue, sexy!! But no residue on lady bits, tmi???

OP posts:
Inshock73 · 24/03/2014 19:16

LOL Ginger! leaves a nice extra layer of skin then.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 24/03/2014 22:50

Hey. Can I join in this thread? Someone pointed me here. I'm 41 and dh is 43. We're ttc #1 between us but both have one dc each from previous relationships. Only on cycle 1 and im the tww. AF may be due this weekend. It's a bit of educated guess work this month as my cycle a bit wonky having stopped pill in December! Started symptom spotting tho. Cramps and nausea this week....and very tearful! Good to meet you all!

Inshock73 · 25/03/2014 08:04

Welcome Mel I'm pleased you found the thread :)

There's a few of us on the tww on here. I'm about 9/10 dpo and trying so hard not to symptom spot and yet doing it all day long! I've had cramps the last few days, sore boobs and so tearful, can't work out if the tears are a good sign or just a bad case of pms :)

spinningirl10 · 25/03/2014 09:24

Hi ladies, can I join you pleaseGrin

I'm 42 and have been on the ttc buses since August. Ttc #3, first for my dp. I had a mc in October so just plodding on trying to get that bfp! I don't know how long we'll keep trying for. I worry about my age but I'm fit and active so hope that's in my favour.

Anyway I'm 2 dpo and keeping everything crossed for a bfp this month.

Look forward to getting to know you all.....I think a couple of you might be quite close to me, I'm in Devon by the seaside Grin

stubbornstains · 25/03/2014 09:54

Heh heh ginger no offence taken!

I'm not quite at the level of starting the day with a Tennants Super- not since the wild days of my youth!- but reckon we split a bottle of wine 4/ 5 nights a week. So about 15-20 units a week. However, it would appear that DP has been doing some research on his own initiative Grin. Apparently 2-3 units a night is just fine. And caffeine actually makes the sperm livelier! So says "the internet". As opposed to your actual, erm, fertility specialist inshock- what do they know hey? Grin

Hmm, maybe I'll try to have 3 alcohol-free nights a week....

Morocco was great- we spent 3 days in Marrakesh, and 3 days in the High Atlas Mountains, going for energetic walks. No booze there once we'd finished the duty free. Coming back and having to pick up my responsibilities again was a hell of a shock though. It took me a whole week to get "back with the programme".

OK, I'm not testing for ovulation, but it should have been over thses few days- definitely feels like it anyway. DP duly summoned and deed done last night- I might summon him for some extra tomorrow, just to be sure. Not really a chore Smile.

stubbornstains · 25/03/2014 09:56

ps- hi Spinninggirl- I'm 1 county west of you! Difficult to guess I know...Grin

spinningirl10 · 25/03/2014 10:00

Hi stubborn, nice to see someone else from this part of the countryGrin

Morocco sounds lovely, i'd like to go there one day.

Inshock73 · 25/03/2014 10:09

Hi Spinning welcome to the coop! Devon? Lucky you, I'm in the smog. The over 40's birth rate has trebled in the last two decades, almost 30,000 last year and now 1 in 25 babies born is to a woman over 40, so we're in good company :)

Stubborn I know these bloody fertility consultants what do they know? It took 15 minutes and cost £125 for these few pearls of wisdom :) Altho.... all his advice was thrown on my shoulders, all the men need to do is cut back on alcohol, eat healthily and don't put their nuts in the oven and they're fine :) Typical huh?

I've read caffeine is good for the swimmers...

Morocco sounds lovely.

mampam · 25/03/2014 10:13

[Grin] to us westcountry folk!

Inshock when are you next going to test? Very exciting, I have a good feeling Smile

Sorry for those who are struggling to stay positive.

MelMc73 · 25/03/2014 10:38

Thanks Inshock73! I've been blubbing at everything and anything for the past two days! Even at Hawaii Five-Oh lol! I can't remember being so hormonal in my life.
Regarding the alcohol thing.....I've just been carrying on as normal which is usually a mid-week/hump-day vino and then more vino at the weekend!! I'm just going to carry on until I get a BFP.....cheers! Wine

Tranquilitybaby · 25/03/2014 10:44

Hi mel & spinninggirl, I've not long joined the thread, everyone is lovely and welcoming.

For those of you who have been TTC for a good while now, I really feel for you, it just be so hard each month. Xx have you thought about trying Preseed (have a look at the reviews on amazon), seems to be lots of success stories with it? X

KEGirlOnFire · 25/03/2014 10:58

Welcome Mel and Spinning!!

Let's all chant - Devon cha cha cha, Devon cha cha cha!!!

Yes, I'm a Devon girl too. That's three of us from Devon on here (Mampam, myself and now Spinnning!).

So, currently on CD11 here. DTD CD9 and CD10, having a break tonight because I'm out for dinner with a friend and DH will be asleep by the time we get home (he gets up at 4am for work). But then we'll be back on it for tomorrow, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Hopefully by then we will get a +OPK.

Right, time to torture myself by watching One Born Every Minute on catchup on my tablet...

spinningirl10 · 25/03/2014 11:11

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies Grin and hi to the Devon ladies.

Inshock, those stats are positive, thanks for sharing!

Preseed....hmm, off to look on Amazon Grin

Does anyone have reflexology or accupuncture? I've read that these things can help with ttc.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 25/03/2014 11:22

Morning everyone!

On another bloody train heading to the big smoke for work. Again. Grrrr.

tranquility you were asking about opk's, best time to use is not fmu but around 2pm (as hormone production starts in morning apparently) then I test again in evening to make sure I don't miss it.

Welcome mel & spinning to the coop! You'll find us a welcoming bunch I hope, with a genetic predisposition to clotted cream it appears. I wanna live in Devon!

I'm on another bloody train to the big smoke for work, bored of this now.

*stubborn morocco sounds lovely. This time last yr we were in Egypt for our anniversary, sigh.....

Hello to the newbies!
Spinning- I've tried both on and off for over a year now. When I'm feeling flush I'd go every week or fortnight...but after a while you notice the cost adding up (esp if you buy the Chinese herbs...!) and you think of all the other nice things you could spend the money on instead.
Very nice they are but they haven't made a blind bit if difference to me. I wouldn't bother with the herbs but maybe try a monthly or fortnightly session for a few months. At least it is an opportunity to talk about your situation, which can in itself make you feel better. Reflexology is nicer than acupuncture IMO but you come away from both feeling relaxed.

I'm 9 or 10 dpo like you inshock...and annie and ginger I think. This last week is the killer.
