Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 20/03/2014 21:40

Hi all, yup, we're enjoying not having sex lol! And that was only 4 days in a row, some people do a lot more.

2ww sucks. It's always waiting waiting waiting. Waiting for ov, waiting for af, waiting for ov.

kegirl, did you say cakes....

I must admit DH and I dtd at least every other day if not everyday from 16th Feb until I got my bfp just incase and it must have done the trick as we don't normally bonk that much! Grin Tbh it was a relief to not be dtd so much.

In other news I'm losing my marbles! Manager called me this morning and asked me to pick up a couple of things from the shop on my way into work. By the time I'd put the phone down I'd totally forgotten what they were and had to call her back Blush Then when I got to work I took my scarf off and tried to unzip my coat only to realise I had'nt put it on this morning, I know I meant to Hmm

Ginger we'll keep you sane during the 2ww with our great humour and wit Smile you can provide the cake!

Tranquilitybaby · 21/03/2014 18:53

We did it every day for a month both times zzzzzz

It was bloody hard work lol! We're in our twenties then though!

Tranquilitybaby · 21/03/2014 18:54

We were that should say - old now lol! ;)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 21/03/2014 21:31

Every day for a month, good grief! Nothing kills the mood like knowing you've got to dtd.

Needing help to stay sane, not feeling very optimistic at the moment tbh. Just a bit fed up with it all Sad. How's everyone else doing?

Actually the first time was on honeymoon, nuff said and the second wasn't too bad actually. ;) lol

Tranquilitybaby · 21/03/2014 22:58

Hey chin up, keep positive. Xxx

Inshock73 · 22/03/2014 15:34

Hi ladies, popping in again after being away for a few weeks thanks to a lack of internet and pesky job hunting.

I'm on the tww again, Ginger you were with me last month, are we syncing again? Anyone else on the torturous fortnight that is the tww?

Inshock73 · 22/03/2014 15:37

and Fankle are you on tww again?

Gingerbreadlady1 · 22/03/2014 16:00

Hi inshock, how's life? Any luck with the job hunting? Yup, I'm half way through 2ww again. Got in lots of dtd at right time as work didn't interfere this time. It's month 3 of 6 on the clomid too do fx.

OP posts:
Inshock73 · 22/03/2014 16:28

Oh everything crossed for you Ginger. Job hunting is the last thing I need at the mo but necessary thanks to my company making me redundant Grrrrr! Anyway, I'm 7/8 dpo too and trying not to symptom spot but can't help myself :) How about you?

Gingerbreadlady1 · 22/03/2014 18:54

Oh no, redundancy is horrible. It happened in my work too but luckily my department was safe. Also trying not to symptom spot as honestly don't think there would be any symptoms at this point, doesn't stop me! Logic be damned lol..
I had some little cramps yesterday, thought AF was on its way a week early but no, the witch is still at bay. What about you?

OP posts:
Inshock73 · 23/03/2014 07:58

We had a new boss come in who literally said she was going to restructure as soon as she joined and made an entire team redundant. Could understand if we weren't needed or were doing a crap job but not the case for any of us. I'm symptom spotting coz also had little cramps over the last day or two and normally have sore boobs on and off from ovulation but they've only just arrived....ooooh I must stop :) I hope this is our month! :)

Tranquilitybaby · 23/03/2014 08:59

Morning. Well my OPKs didn't turn up yesterday so hoping they arrive tomorrow so I can give them a whirl.

Good luck girls. X

Gingerbreadlady1 · 23/03/2014 18:01

I love my opk's. I get all excited when I get a 2 lines. I prev used cbfm which was great as tells you when you're gearing up for ov so you know when to start getting jiggy.

Hope so too inshock we need more bfp on our thread. Your old boss sounds like a charmer...

Hello again everybody! I haven't checked in for about 3 weeks, as we went on holiday Smile to celebrate my 40th birthday Sad. My God, I read the linked article- it's v. interesting, and sounds pretty well researched, but still talks about fertility dropping off massively at.......40. Oh God.

Needless to say, my period came the day after we got back from holiday- bang on time, at least it's regular....I think I'm OVing again about now-ish, so DP has been summoned tomorrow night Smile (he normally spends all weekend with us, and then spends some of the week at his own house).

I wondered...has anybody done any reading up about how crucial it is to give up/ cut down on booze when TTC? Because I don't want to! (stamps foot).

stubbornstains · 23/03/2014 21:40

Oh yes, and congratulations on the BFPs!

Inshock73 · 24/03/2014 08:12

Hi Stubborn welcome to 40's club I'll send a :) although I'm yet to find anyone who's smiling about joining it. Just wanted to answer your question, I went to see a fertility specialist and have been told to give up caffeine, booze and sugar, he was quite irritating and told me if I shouldn't have any of the above in my diet anyway! Yep, well most doctors I know smoke and drink! Try not to worry too much about the 40 thing, there's another thread on here for women over 40 and pregnant and a lot of them have had surprise pregnancies so it does happen....but if it doesn't it just means you have to make decisions about next steps quicker than someone who's younger.

Inshock73 · 24/03/2014 08:18

How's everyone doing on the tww? I'm driving myself insane this month!!! Now on about 9dpo and had cramping for the last few days, sore boobs and keep crying about everything! Can't work out if it might be my month or I've got pms :) Have made the decision if we haven't hit the target this month I'm back to fertility consultant and will start down the ivf route.

Tranquilitybaby · 24/03/2014 09:26

Happy 40th stubborn good luck with the TTC. You don't need to completely cut out alcohol, the odd glass here and there is fine.

What CD is everyone on? CD8 here and DTD last night as I think I will ovulate soon even though AF has just finished. What time of day do use the OPKs? X

KEGirlOnFire · 24/03/2014 11:07

Hi all,

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

Nice to see you back Inshock and Stubborn.

Well, DTD for the first time this month, last night. DH was really sweet, ran me a bath, lit loads of candles (he hasn't run me a bath since before I was PG with DD over 5 years ago!!) and when I asked him why he said 'it's getting tough month after month so I thought we could at least make the effort for the first night, try and get some romance back into it' bless him!! Smile

It's funny though, when we first started talking about TTC#2, we talked about baby names etc. As time's gone on we never bother now. We just assume it isn't going to happen.

So we've decided to DTD tonight, break tomorrow because I'm out with a friend, then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday etc up to OV day. Today is CD10 and I normally OV on CD14 or 15. Didn't want to start before last night because the little critters can only live for maximum of 5 days so didn't want to waste any!!

Ginger, yes I did say cakes Grin. I make lots of cakes for friends/family. I had to make 12 purple and silver cupcakes for my Niece's birthday yesterday and I will be starting to make cupcakes for my Sister's coffee shop soon. That's on top of working full-time of course - LOL.

I hope that everyone is OK!! xx

Inshock73 · 24/03/2014 11:25

Hi KEGirl, your DH sounds lovely. You sound like us, before my mc last year (at 9 weeks) we talked names and looked at baby things, I even bought maternity clothes for the summer, we've now been ttc again for 8 months and it gets harder each month.

Do you mind me asking you how old your husband is? I'm really struggling to get my DP to do it every day (even for just a few days!) and he's only 37!

KEGirlOnFire · 24/03/2014 11:59

DH is 37 too and he would have it all day every day given the opportunity!! But I'm the opposite and would happily have it one day a month!!

Your DP isn't unusual though, we're all different. My friends and I discuss this a lot and there are some whose DH's aren't bothered and some where my friends aren't bothered. I just think everyone is completely different.

It's 2 years in April since we started TTC#2 (with one MC three months into trying), so I know how you feel.

Crap isn't it... Sad

But fingers crossed. It has to happen for one of us soon!! Smile
